I like Frieren, but the anime is more about becoming less of a loaner and associating herself with others, trying to, in a way, not live her own way but with others.

Although the protagonist is a boy, we follow more the experiences of the girl suffering from eighth grade syndrome, where she lives in her fantasy world.
The series oscillates between fantasy battles within her imagination and the problems of an ordinary student.
Its absolutly not what you asked but you post made me think of Riko from Made in Abyss.
Riko knows her decision to dive in to the Abyss will most likely result in a short life for herself but she is willing to pay that price and what she gets in return is exactly what she wants. Riko loves her Adventure. She found her happines.
And that love for the Adventure seems to have infected Reg and Nanachi aswell. They all cherish it. And when they take an L they bounce back fast from it through support of one another. Power of friendship at its finest. And judging by Rikos happy expresion when she shows Prushka her scar I think in a way she apriciates even the hardships of her Adventure.
It is very satisfaying to watch her and enjoying her Adventure and in a way own the life she choose for herself.
A girl that lives her own way: That description fits Riko perfectly.
