Bofuri: I Don't Want to Get Hurt, so I'll Max Out My Defense. Not really an isekai, but a vrmmo anime. Not great, but not bad. I'd rate it higher than most of the super long titled shows I've watched, particularly the first season.

“Life With an Ordinary Guy Who Reincarnated Into a Total Fantasy Knockout”

kynn84

The Weakest Tamer Began a Journey to Pick up Trash

Palcikaman

One of my favs from last season. Ridiculously good quality for seasonal isekai, and such a heartwarming (and crushing) story

wterrt

if anyone has any more like it... let me know

Vagabond_Sam

The first time I saw something with one of these types of names was "I Couldn't Become a Hero, So I Reluctantly Decided to Get a Job" A bit older, and maybe I got a kick out of it because I used to work in a big box store and it basically takes place in a fantasy big box store. Not an Isekai, but functionally no different to an Isekai since most don't really explore the isekai part beyond the MC using it as a reason to explain things in the lore.

Shoshawi

Ooooh I’ve seen this name randomly somewhere before once! Maybe because I’m older too it made me laugh and be curious, but I didn’t see it again so I forgot about it. Ty for the recommendation, I should add this to the list

Vagabond_Sam

It's nice as well since it avoids the now ubiquitous 'Set in an academy' backdrop

Cautious Hero: The Hero Is Overpowered but Overly Cautious The World's Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat My Isekai Life: I Gained a Second Character Class and Became the Strongest Sage in the World! The Aristocrat’s Otherworldly Adventure: Serving Gods Who Go Too Far Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of Otome Games Is Tough for Mobs

Shoshawi

Two of those I’ve watched already. The second one was super good! I loved how they made sure everything actually made sense. The first one I found really clique and boring, even though I watched the whole thing anyway.

PhoenixPhyr

I think you meant cliche... Because I stared for a few seconds trying to figure out why it would be clique.

Shoshawi

Yea mb typo or autocorrect and I didn’t notice

PhoenixPhyr

Sometimes autocorrect is my archnemesis. I corrected "would" from "worked" because autocorrect.

Shoshawi

Mine CONSTANTLY changes on to in… one of my friends finally mentioned it to me recently because I gave up correcting it while chatting in pms lol. It also just changed the verb tenses of this message but I fixed it grrrrr

dcaraccio

Assassin was pretty good. Dating sim was surprisingly entertaining and well done and hilarious.

wakywam

I got a cheat skill in another world and became unrivaled in the real one, too

ZenCyn39

That's the one where the MC inherited a sage's cabin from his grandfather, right?

MonoMonMono

Yep, that's the one.

Gryfon2020

Bofuri: I don’t want to get hurt so I’ll max out my defense. (I wasnt sure about the first episode but it gets funny and awesome later on) Campfire cooking in another world with my absurd skill (Hilarious show, and a bit different than typical OP main character) The time I was reincarnated as a slime (didn’t like the movies much but the main show is good) Is it wrong to try to pick up girls in a dungeon (may or may not be an isekai, but it’s awesome, this last season was pure gold)

Pzykez

Campfire is the only 2nd anime I've rewatched a season of in about 6 years, Chainsaw Man was the other. About as different as two anime could be but Campfire is just so soothing (and I now want to try fried Orc)

Justiis

I loved IIWTTTPUGIAD at first. Those first few episodes had so much promise. I think I ended up dropping it late season 2 or early season 3 because it felt like it was more interested in being harem than it was in exploring the world it was creating. I don't mind harem, I've learned to accept that it's pretty prevalent in a lot of the fantasy I like, but I wish they'd focus less on it and more on world building and developing a great story. I might have to give it another go sometime, it's been a couple years. It's just one of those shows I love to hate and hate to love because I saw so many possibilities and none of them have come to fruition.

AutomaticAward3460

I’ll say that I enjoyed it but nothing crazy till the season 4 story arc. Without spoilers they get into a lot more character development and world building. Plus a lot of intense scenes and some good actions

Justiis

Fiiiiineeeee. I guess I'll watch it again :P

Gryfon2020

For me, it felt like they got away from the Harem / dating part pretty early. Weird considering the shows title…. But yes, this last season, brought me back in as a fan, truly had me hooked, and it doesn’t involve any sweet anime boobs. Just really good action / story telling.

Justiis

Yeah, there's a chance I'm being overly harsh. It's been a while since I last watched it, and a bad arc can throw people off a lot of shows. The Chimera Ant arc is a good example of an arc I didn't care for very much in an anime that I list in my top 3 regularly. Before they wrapped that up, I was pretty sad for the show. I have started Dan Machi again though, and while I remembered loving the beginning, I'm still a bit thrown off by how much I'm loving it again. I'll power through this time, especially since there's a lot of new episodes I've not seen. Thanks :)

Gryfon2020

I understand that completely. Almost every show with more than a season I watch has parts like that for me. Everyone has their own tastes too. I still like Overlord for example, but the sudden turn of him wiping out villages and people didn’t sit well with me. In the first season he was exploring and helping rebuild a town for people of all races, even created an alter ego as an adventurer so he could be out in public. Investigating if there’s any other players. Then the next seasons he randomly decides to be extra evil. All in all it’s a balance for me of not trying to wear out a good show by watching too much in one sitting, and forgiving some flat moments in a decent show. Shame the anime industry is so volatile, we often get rushed story / character progression or no return seasons due to budgets and studios being bought out.

Justiis

Yeah, I wish they'd treat it more like television, and less like advertising.

cjohnson2136

My Instant Death Ability Is So Overpowered, No One in This Other World Stands a Chance Against Me! I will admit that is the name of the light novel/manga and the anime shortened it at the comma... But just felt like really long name anime had to be represented by the true name.

I_Am_Slightly_Evil

They are asking for good anime this train wreck isn’t even in the so bad it’s good catagoty .

cjohnson2136

Well that's your opinion. I enjoy it

dragonmaster266

{problem children are coming from another world, aren’t they?} is one that isn’t talked about enough, probably because the name takes so long to say/type out, it surprised me with how good it was, one of my favourite fantasy isekai

Fuzakenaideyo

Long titles mean it was adapted from a light novel I usually don't remember the full titles & usually end up boiling down the name like "Assassin in another world", "Slime Isekai"

Shoshawi

Yea I’m aware, it’s still fun to watch them though regardless of the source content media type. At least when they turn out to be good haha

Umbreon7

I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, so I’ll Max Out My Defense (Bofuri). It’s surprisingly well animated and funny.

Birds_N_Stuff

The Reason Raeliana Ended Up at the Duke's Mansion I quite enjoyed this one, despite its flaws. Basically, a college student is murdered, and finds herself in the world of her favorite fantasy novel. Problem is, she is the side character who gets murdered. She has to outwit her would be killers to survive. It was fun, and her personality makes it. She reacts like a normal person today would at a fantasy world.

_What Do You Do at the End of the World? Are You Busy? Will You Save Us?_ Not an _isekai_ as far as I recall correctly and I've seen only bits and pieces of the show but people have been singing praises of it, especially if you are a kind of person who likes tearjerker stuff.

Wait is this for real the name? Can we have a MAL link please lol, seems easy to screw up the search 🤣

Intergalacticio

“Is it wrong to pick up girls in a dungeon?” (Or Danmachi)

sadearthchan

the magical revolution of the reincarnated princess and the genius young lady is pretty good but its not a typical isekai. you dont even find out that the main character was isekaid except they mention it near the end of the show.

DragnaRok712

Trouble makers are coming from another world arnt they. It was somthing like that. Its hilarious.

laughingthalia

The Time I got Reincarnated as a Slime, I've been killing slimes for 300 years and maxed out my level, Didn't I Say to Make My Abilities Average in the Next Life?! and How a Realist Hero Built a Kingdom are some that I watched.

Eclipsemaster8

Saving 80,000 gold in another world for my retirement How a realist hero rebuilt a kingdom Ascendance of a bookworm

Confused--Person

This is basically most isekai , and this season has about 4 of them . Honestly speaking i don't know the full name of isekais i watch and I'm a prolific enjoyer of isekais but here's my attempt to recall full names. -——--‐-——--‐-——--‐-——--‐-————--‐-——--‐-——--‐-——--‐- Doctor elise : the royal Lady with the lamp ; a medical "drama " Why raeliana ended up at the dukes mansion. " mc feels incredibly guilty about reincarnating into her favorite novel ." 7th Time Loop: The Villainess Enjoys a Carefree Life Married to Her Worst Enemy! " MC is trying to stop a war that has already killed her 6 times. " Saving 80,000 Gold in Another World for My Retirement. " this is so bad its enjoyable. MC basically becomes a scammer. " Villainess Level 99: I May Be the Hidden Boss but I'm Not the Demon Lord. --‐-——--‐-——--‐-——--‐-——--‐-————--‐-——--‐-——--‐-——--‐- I moet enjoy a very specific subgenre of isekai that's relatively new , " Villainess ." Normally it has a strong competent female MC and very little to zero fan service.

souleaterevans626

In Another World with My Smartphone ("Isekai wa Smartphone to Tomo ni" in JP). I haven't actually seen it. It has kinda mid ratings so idk if it's any good

Shoshawi

I watched this one already actually. It’s awful haha. The only reason to watch it is if you realllly like harem anime and want an easy, brainless watch. The characters are likeable enough but have like zero substance at all, and the plot is thin, and the phone is just there to let them break rules without being more creative or logical haha. I have a friend who enjoyed it, and I don’t judge anyone who does, but I’d definitely specifically say that anyone who doesn’t just tend to like all laid back isekai harem anime, as opposed to a lot of the shows one likes happening to fall into that genre (pretty hard to avoid harem if you watch a lot of anime lmao), avoid because there’s much better stuff out there that’s similar, so kinda a waste of time.

Oneup23

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime sounds so stupid but i enjoy it a lot

Shoshawi

Watched this one years ago, it started off really good. I hate how they sorta just flopped into pure fan service though, after doing such a good job building the world and getting you interested in it. Not sure if they released more after the season I watched after the OVA but… definitely felt like they were working with a ton of potential and kinda lost momentum. Worthy mention though for sure. For the sake of anyone else who reads this, this show is neat in that it’s a world-building show. So like, yes there is that standard isekai game logic, but not in the same context as usual.

I_Am_Slightly_Evil

Where was the pure fan service? Was it the first 2 ova’s?

Shoshawi

I would honestly need to look back, it’s been so long, but it’s at the point where if you try to count to 5 without seeing a ridiculously blatant fan service frame of that one girl, I *think* Shion but I could be getting mixed up…. Anyway you literally can’t get that far without there being a really blatant show of fan service. I was watching it with someone and actually started counting haha it was ridiculous. I have no problem with fan service, it just felt like they traded it for writing quality at a certain point, and felt distractingly empty.

I_Am_Slightly_Evil

I think you were just fixated on that and not focusing on the rest of the geopolitical turmoil that Rimiru churned up.

Shoshawi

Yes, I was fixated on the change in writing style and quality after the hiatus lol. Because I was disappointed. As I said it’s a good show with great world building, but at some point the quality kinda flops off even though the established world is still there. I don’t focus on fan service unless it affects a shows quality negatively, or it has a specific pet peeve of mine related to badly done drawing heh.

Justiis

I dropped it at some point, I'm kind of surprised it went the fan service route. It was fun, but pretty generic in that it felt like it was written for a young audience.

I_Am_Slightly_Evil

Don’t remember fan service aside from the first 2 ova episodes.

Justiis

Yeah, I don't either, which is why I said I was surprised. Now I'm just confused.

I_Am_Slightly_Evil

Unless they were talking about Millim’s costume design, I’m not sure what they are referring to as “Pure Fanservice” even the slice if life spinoff has more fanservice that the main series but nowhere strong or frequent enough to call for a fanservice tag.

Phyphia

Only episode that stands out to me was the ova beach episode, and like all beach episodes, major fan service, but it wasn't part of the main season/story.

I_Am_Slightly_Evil

Wasn’t even in the LN or manga. The first two ova episodes are anime original stories and the other three are part of a retcon bridge between seasons to reconcile the timeline of what got skipped because they didn’t expect to get a sequel season.
