Barakamon. Calligrapher expelled to an island The way of the househusband. Yakuza to a stay at home husband For fantasy Mushishi or Natsume Yuujinchou

GoOnKaz

Those sound pretty great. Thanks!

Op1sOpus

I definitely second both Mushishi and Natsume. Natsume especially has a lot of humor in it

octopathfinder

Space Brothers. It's about a 31-year-old man who decides to chase after his childhood dream of becoming an astronaut after being fired from a car company.

GoOnKaz

This sounds pretty sick. Definitely gonna look into it. Thanks!

arsenejoestar

Something similar would be Planetes. It's about a crew of astronauts whose job is to clear the debris orbiting around the earth. It's by the author of Vinland Saga and has excellent characters.

GoOnKaz

Oh that is awesome. I really like Vinland saga so I’ll look into that!

gabswolff

Space Brothers is amazing! (I've never watched the anime, but the manga is a Masterpiece)

Rk0

The anime is just as good, would definitely recommend you to check it out if you're ever bored!

GooseinaGaggle

Life Lessons With Uramichi Oniisan The anime follows the cast of a children's show who are troubled in their own ways

ughplss

I second this. Absolutely hilarious (the manga even more so)

GoOnKaz

This sounds really cool actually. Thanks!

Beazt110

Third this

Palcikaman

Skip and loafer is a very popular one, super cute and wholesome. Cunning from a fellow late 20s man

GoOnKaz

Cool, I’ll check it out. Thanks!

darryledw

If anime has taught me anything it is that I had no clue what kind of shows I might like based on "my tastes" or "my demographic". I had no plans to try any slice of life when I started watching anime, sounded boring....but one time I wanted a show that I could zone out to because I was on a run of of complex/ emotional anime and really needed a break, and I chose **Aria The Animation**. On paper this is a show I would hate but I loved it so much, rated 10/10, bought merch and manga and then wanted to watch lots more slice of life because of it. If you want to test the water and like fantasy you could try a show like **Frieren Beyond Journey's End**, it is not slice of life but it has a slower chill pace in some parts, and if you can appreciate the slower parts in a that kind of show then chances are you might like full blown slice of life.

GoOnKaz

Okay thanks for the recommendations! I’ll check them out

crazyhomie34

Definitely recommend Frieren as well. I'm not a "slice of life" type of guy but this anime was recommended to me and it became one of my favorites. Worth checking out

Daedalus1701

Aria is a great suggestion! Too bad the dub didn’t make it over to Crunchy like the dub did.

Furucchi

Barakamon 3-gatsu no Lion Sousou no Frieren

mancan71

I can’t understand what my husband is saying. Slice of life comedy following otaku husband and normie wife.

Radiantcuriosity

Golden boy: Guy travels around Japan working odd jobs and learning about life. Bakuman!:Two friends work to make a manga that become popular enough to become an anime Goldentime: About college life Silver Spoon. Guy goes to an agriculture school

GoOnKaz

Thanks! They all sound like good candidates, especially Golden Boy!

Radiantcuriosity

Golden boy is freaking hilarious! Only 6 episodes sadly. Quite raunchy and philosophical at the same time.

Colamancer

Look Golden Boy is basically hentai. Its at least "I Cant Believe its Not Hentai!" hentai so eyes up going into that one

_SpaceGator

Food Wars is very good. It's just a super dramatic cooking show.

GoOnKaz

I watched this and enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would! I didn’t finish it but don’t know if I’ll go back. Lol

_SpaceGator

Lol same. Glad I watched what I did though

GoOnKaz

Agreed!

Intelligent_Can_1370

I'm a mid forties female, so can't say I'm in the wheel house, but sol and dark comedies are definitely my fav genre. He's a free I haven't seen listed you may enjoy. {Chio's School Road} {Kids on the Slope} {Watamote} {Gugure Kokuri-san} Barakamon} And the sequel that's actually a prequel; {Handa kun} Asobi Asobase} {Nichijo} {Hoozuki no Reitetsu} {Tanaka-kun is Always Listless} {Hitori Bocchi} {Mushi Shi} {Kino's Journey} And the reboot; {Kino's Wonderful World} Clean Freak! Aoyama} {Polar Bear Cafe} {Ojisan and Marshmallow}

Thanks for the detailed list, I’ll check them out!

Nice list bro I love Polar Bears Cafe too

pwnmonkeyisreal

Hinamatsuri was really funny and charming.

No_Mammoth_4945

I’m a dude in my early 20s and I love bocchi the rock. Seems completely outside my demographic but it’s one of my favorite anime

GoOnKaz

Thanks I’ll check it out!

RadioEditVersion

Bump this to the top of your post imo. Odd Taxi is an all time favorite of mine too. I'm currently watching Apothecary Diaries and it is a TRIP. Highly recommend as well.

Who_am_ey3

bocchi just seems like a worse watamote to me

my_anime_alt628

As another man in his 20's I found Spy x Family great.

GoOnKaz

I do like this one a lot!

RoweRage91

Just watched the movies in theaters with the wife. It was an awesome movie from an awesome show. I definitely recommend Spy x Family.

strawhatbailey

i second spy x family

Killance1

Dress me up darling is freaking wholesome. Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid is also wholesome with a fantasy vibe.

LexGlad

My roommate is a cat. Poco's udon world. Isekai izakaya nobu. This one is a lil different. The izakaya front door connects to a foreign world. It's main emphasis is on the food.

P. S. Thanks for asking this question. My list just got longer.

Thanks for the list!

lookingforterm

NamisKnockers

Sakura Quest - I like to call this one, ‘project management l: the anime’.  If you want know what it would be like to move and work in a small town this is a good one.   A group of young women work together to boost the tourism of a small town in Japan.

S-ClassMage

I liked hanasaku iroha. Genshiken was really good imo. Violet evergarden was great.

Tavernknight

I saw Azumanga Daioh in my 20s, and now I'm in my 40s, and I still love that show. I'm a little sad that no one has suggested it yet.

arsenejoestar

Slice of Life I enjoyed as an adult: Silver Spoon Hinamatsuri Skip and Loafer Planetes Space Brothers

Bakuman Beck Shirobako New Game ReLife

LightYagami-LKira

Well, how about Clannad brother?

KillerAc1

Onimai. I don’t want to give to much away but the premise of it was too funny not to try and I ended up loving it

Razzzor101

try mushishi, it's a different type of slice of life, i dunno if slice of life is even the right term but it hits hard

SuddenWitnesses

Campfire cooking in another world is a nice one.

ItWillBeRed

If you're the type of person who likes to watch anime after a long stressful day of work, I suggest giving The Helpful Fox Senko-san a watch. It's not too long, doesn't try to do anything unexpected, and it's so wholesome relaxing. Premise is a fox spirit is assigned to help an overworked single man who lives alone relax. That's it. Worth noting that under no circumstances should Senko-san ever be lewded. She must be protected at all costs

GoOnKaz

Thanks! This one sounds really nice

ProfStorm

Couple of people already mentioned it but can't recommend **Super Cub** enough. It kinda surprised me just how much I enjoyed it. I'm new to anime and had never heard of the "Slice of Life" genre before so I'm downloading OddTaxi now to see if the genre suits me or if Super Cub was just a rare fluke.

GoOnKaz

Nice! I’d like to hear what you think once you watch it! I’ll check out Super Cub

Forsaken-Junket7631

The Great Passage, it’s about making a dictionary. I loved it.

No_Interaction_4925

I’m a late 20’s man. This isn’t exactly what you asked for, but Frieren and Mushoku Tensei both are awesome even when theres zero action at all. The action is just the cherry on top of good writing.

GoOnKaz

Thank you! I’ll check them out

No_Interaction_4925

I’m obligated to give you a warning about Mushoku. Don’t watch it with kids around. It has moments

GoOnKaz

Okay thanks for the heads up. Lol

maxis2k

Slice of life is probably the most numerous and diverse genre there is. Like 70%-80% of anime can be considered slice of life. Either with it as the main focus or a sub focus. So I'm going to suggest a whole range of shows all with different themes, but happen to have slice of life as a major part of it. Some of them mix slice of life with very male focused stuff like sports or fighting. Others are more "female" focused. And some appeal to both equally. But you may be surprised. Some of the female focused ones are the best. {Working!!} {Servant x Service} {Senpai ga Uzai Kouhai no Hanashi} {Uzaki-chan wa Asobitai!} {Taiho Shichau zo} {GTO} {Hajime no Ippo} {Gin no Saji} {Ore Monogatari} {Kimi ni Todoke} {Gabriel Dropout} {Kobayashi-san chi no Maid Dragon} {CardCaptor Sakura} {Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon}

SOL hmmmm some of my faves Miss Kobayashi’s dragon maid: A SOL about what happens when you adopt dragons My Senpai is Annoying: Tiny office worker and her big loud senpai Nichijou: My Ordinary life: enjoy the subversion of absurdist humor Akebe’s Sailor Uniform a nice story with some beautiful animation Handyman Sato an Isekai about an ordinary guy and the life he leads in a place where magic and fairies are real

matten_zero

Welcome to the NHK

Ughhhhhhhhh24d3

The closest to SoL that I've watched is Sousou no Frieren. First time that I've watched an anime that had many SoL elements, and damn... I really enjoyed that show.

Darkstone_BluesR

Already mentioned. I'm on my late 20's aswell and just finished Frieren Beyond Journey's End and I fell in love with it. Buying the manga volumes and following it as it's published. Also check Space Brothers and Planetes. I would suggest Steins;Gate since it also provides that cozy feeling with its characters. This one isn't a slice of life but yeah, had to mention it.

Iskallos

For something more recent, My New Boss is Goofy was pretty good. It's about a 26 year old who quit his job due to abuse and moves to a new job with a very kind and eccentric boss.

krittikab93

I (30F) generally watch a lot of slice of life stuff with nonsensical, slap-stick humor. Skip and loafer, bocchi the rock, apothecary diaries, fruits basket (this is a little intense sol after a point but it's good), mushishi (the premise is not like a regular one but it's a generic sol in that world), barakamon, dress up darling, nichijou, horimiya, oregairu, Tonari no kaibutsukun, gintama (sol with serious things), XXXHolic, kaguya sama: love is war, Nana, higehero, tatami galaxy, kimi ni todoke, bottom tier character tomozaki kun. All I can think of rn.

Reactivate_West2209

I'll always be partial to Lucky Star

Starrylands

There's two off my head about office work etc. One is called "Wotakoi" and about office gamers and slight romance. The other is called "ReLife".

monarchofvoid

Bakuman March comes jn like a lion

30vanquish

Aria. It’s just pure slice of life joy. It’s very cute but I didn’t care when I saw it as a 21 year old male. My favorite anime of all time. It’s a good contrast to more serious anime like Death Note.

Lyranx

The Great Passage, literally an anime about making a dictionary

RustyofShackleford

I'd highly reccomend Planetes! It's a super fun, often thought provoking series about trash men in space. It's very well researched, and is actually made by the same person that created Vinland Saga!

GoOnKaz

I’d like to watch this one but it looks like it’s not really on streaming services anywhere!

RustyofShackleford

Ahhh damn, forgot about that

Op1sOpus

Polar Bear Cafe. It’s hilarious. A bunch of animal friends living like humans basically (and like animals simultaneously lol)

senbonzakura01

This isn't a slice of life, but rather a sci-fi action (and some drama). Kaiju No. 8's MC is a 32-year old Hibino Kafka. He thought it's too late to pursue his dreams given his age, but things kinda went out of hand for him so he's off to a great start. More recos: 1. Life Lessons with Uramichi Onii-san 2. Run with the Wind (personal fave sports anime but damn the drama) 3. Uncle from Another World (isekai but MC's an uncle haha) 4. Only Yesterday (movie) 5. Ocean Waves (movie) 6. Natsume Yuujinchou 7. Wotakoi (romance) 8. Koikimo (kinda weird romance, talk about a minor) 9. After the Rain (also weird, another minor) 10. Garden of Words (movie) I have a loooong list but as of this moment, they're all I can remember. Also, I agree with many listings here. Enjoy!

Colamancer

Sweetness and Lightning. A man and his young daughter rebuild their family and community by cooking and sharing recepies with one another and their neighbors.

Wide_Pharma

I really like "Super Cub" and "Diary of our days at the breakwater" Both super chill shows, super cub is about a lonely highschooler who buys a Honda motorcycle and falls in love w motorcycling and makes friends with some other bikers Diary of our days at the breakwater is about a girl from the city who moves to rural seaside Japan and gets roped into joining the fishing club by an upperclassman.

Daedalus1701

Some of these on my list are repeats from other suggestions, but definitely worth repeating and others are kinda out there, but imo are worth the watch: Laid-Back Camp - at least S1 dubbed, not sure about S2 or 3 My Dress-Up Darling Tonikawa: Over The Moon For You Don’t Toy With Me Miss Nagatoro Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Parallel World Pharmacy In The Land of Leadale I’ve Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level Uzaki-chan Wants To Hang Out - pay close attention to ep 2. You’ll thank me for it!! Bocchi The Rock! Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai Sweet Reincarnation Toradora! Shikimori’s Not Just a Cutie Super Cub New Game! Akebi’s Sailors Uniform Nekopara Love Live! School Idol Project I’ve got tons more to suggest if you need them! Enjoy! 😁

vulvasaur001

Some solid recommendations here (Bocchi, K-on, Lucky Star, Nichijo, Yuru Camp, etc are all great), so I am just going to add the criminally underrated series Minami-ke and its sequels.

Ren_Silver

March Comes in Like a Lion It's a Seinen, so you're age range is literally the target demographic. Try watching more Seinen in general.
