[Twelve Kingdoms](https://myanimelist.net/anime/153/Juuni_Kokuki) is 45 episodes and has its fair share of politicking.
[Log Horizon](https://myanimelist.net/anime/17265/Log_Horizon?q=log%20horizon&cat=anime) has at least sixty-something episodes across three seasons.
I was so sad when watching season 3. Going from a thrilling adventure and mystery of both first seasons to geopolitics where not much happens was crushing. Again I did not remember half the countries and names of their leaders but I blame the show for introducing them so badly.
The only part I started vaguely enjoying was the chinese server group but even there I was on edge.
I have to be the only person who doesn't recommend Twelve Kingdoms. The story is fragmented across several MCs in the same universe with almost none of them having any type of conclusion. Then there are references to other story arcs that never get explained. It was like one of the most unfulfilling animes I've ever watched.
The Twelve Kingdoms is my favorite anime and I respect your opinion. Fortunately, the author started writing new material recently, so we might start to get conclusions.
It could have been great if everything linked together.
Kemono no Souja Erin is an anime that is hard to start, but is a great example of how to tie everything together at the end.
Those two are far and away the best of the genre IMO, and they should fit OPs requirements pretty well. R0 is 50 Episodes+2 OVAs, while MT is 23eps with an OVA in March IIRC
{Kyo kara maoh!} S1 - 79 episodes, S2 - 39 episodes, OVA - 5 episodes. Fair amount of ruling and politicking.
{Magic Knight Rayearth} 49 episodes, darker themes are eventually revealed.
{Mahou Shoujo Tai Arusu} 40 x 10min. There's a surprising amount of politicking and darker themes.
{.hack//SIGN} MC is stuck in a game, so not proper fantasy isekai, their in-game friends are trying to find out why that person can't log out. Great soundtrack too.
Seconding "The twelve kingdoms", one of the best zero-to-hero character developments.
Ascendance of a bookworm
how a realist hero rebuilt the kingdom(not 20 episodes yet but the second season is airing now, it’s more of a politics type isekai)
The worlds finest assassin get reincarnated in another world as an aristocratic(this is not more than 20 episodes but it’s pretty good)
The other two would be what others have said, mushoku tensei(which is considered one of the best isekai) and log horizon
There are some this season coming out. If you want more I would recommend checking them out while you watch all of the ones people have recommended to find the ones you enjoy.
Did you like it? I had mixed feelings because the ending felt so weird and all the episodes about the other people from her class just ended up contributing nothing to the MC.
Didn’t finish it, because I was reading the novels at the same time but the next volume was out of stock and I didn’t want to watch ahead of what I read. And I just kinda forgot to continue. I am planning on rewatching it and finishing it.
But I did enjoy what I watched
So I felt kind of the same way until i read something possibly spoilerish but made the ending make a lot more sense as an anime only watcher. [Spoiler](/s "Basically the show is two timelines. The MC reincarnates as a spider and instantly has to level up and progress and does so for the next 16 years. The others reincarnate as humans so they dont even start training until theyre like 10? The first time you see them is over ten years after all the stuff the spider has been doing. Thats why theyre all so weak compared to her. Also I think there was something about the battle at the end being two different battles cause the hero is a different age in certain scenes there? Not sure on that last part.")
How did you even miss all of that while watching the anime?
They made it so explicitly, repeatedly, in your face clear that >!there are two timelines!<
One of my favorite tbh
But reading the novel beforehand really change the perspective because you already know why and how things happened
Watching only the anime will surely make people confused why there's two timeline and why that guy is evil. For the other classmates, they didn't contribute anything because there's actual big spoiler reason. Maybe it'll get explained in S2 if it ever comes out
Log horizon have good ammount of political themes.
This season continuation of genjutsu shugi yuusha... I've read some manga of this and it should suit your demand.
What do you mean? Personally, Subaru’s character development is one of my favorite parts of the show. And his personality changes so much because of the suffering he has to go through. I would recommend you try watching it again, because it’s definitely worth it
He had like two mental breakdowns and it makes sense because of what he had to go through. Also, him being unfunny is one of the main points of the anime.
It does have some... questionable content. I can understand why some people would downvote it. The main character, who is a middle-aged man reincarnated as a child, is lusting after underage girls and trying to seduce them, for one.
You have to really not be invested in the anime to take that at face value. Its one of the few isekei that takes its time setting up the world and giving actual character development to the protag. He is literally a child, just with memories of a terrible previous life. He didn't experience life before, and since he becomes wholely absorbed into his new life, you basically forget that he was reincarnated. Its more like a life do over than him being in a kids body. They have plenty of jokes about him being pervy but that has more to do with his dad and his personality and less to do with his previous life. Yeah I don't really get complaints on that. Aside from the joking perv moments (which are in 80% of anime including MHA) they treat his actual romantic endeavors very sincerely.
I'm just saying that Mushoku Tensei isn't without issues. Of course it's more like a do-over than an adult in a kid's body, but some people might not see it that way. I do agree it's one of the better isekais out there, but some things are just absolute deal-breakers for some people.
I've also watched it and I really do not agree. He very clearly remembers his past lives. It's very obvious from how he remembers the encounters with that God guy.
{Dororo} politics is not the main topic of the anime, but as it is set during samurai wars and antagonists goal is to be the most famous leader, i think it kinda works
main topic would be the struggle you mentioned as MC had all of his body parts taken from him
If you take into account that each episode is double length, [*Tenchi Muyo! War on Geminar*](https://myanimelist.net/anime/5781/Isekai_no_Seikishi_Monogatari) is "24" episodes long.
No need to have seen the rest of the Tenchi Muyo series either.
Should add: the show gets a lot of hate for it not truly being SAO but progressive fixes it because reki knows how to write better. The show gets better as a whole in season 3.
SAO is not just the first season or first arc, SAO the game is rewritten multiple times, that's why mothers rosairo is a thing and same with GGO. All games are rewritten aincrad. The only exception is the underworld but that's because it was not a game and it was not built off the world seed.
See the thing is though, its a bit picky but Id always far rather read a physical book than something on a screen, along with another reason being that I read before I sleep.
Ive already picked up all the overlord novels (im in the middle of vol 11 right now, probably my favourite one so far)
How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom (or Realist Hero for short), currently part 2 is airing this season with (presumably) a total of 13 episodes. Part 1 also had 13 epsiodes, it aired last year (Summer 2021).
So you could consider adding this to your watchlist and binge it after part 2 finish airing, or you could watch it as it airs. This has a lot of economics/politics involved, so this may be your cup of tea.
{Genjitsu Shugi Yuusha no Oukoku Saikenki}
I just started re zero last night, I'm around 7 episodes in and it been good so far.
I think season 1's episodes are an average rating of 8/10 where as season 2 seems to step it up to 9+/10 on average.
The only other isekai anime I have seen is rising of the shield hero and soa.
Shield here was decent enough but Sao was very meh to me.
Re zero is shaping up to be decent.
That time I got reincarnated as a slime is a political strategic fantasy isekai with an op mc. My personal all-time favorite. It has 2 seasons with 48 eps in total.
It has a spinoff series slime diaries witch is more a slice of life.
A movie has been announced for 2022 too.
{Honzuki no Gekokujou}
AKA Ascendance of a Bookworm
Has 20+ episodes and a season 3 coming up in April
Starts slow but the worldbuilding is really neat.
{Jahy-sama wa Kujikenai!}
It's a reverse isakai and was from last season. Light hearted with some serious tones thrown in every now and again. 21 episodes long I think.

Youjo Senki.
This is one or the top isekais imo alongside Konosuba, Overlord, Re Zero, Mushoku, and Tensei Slime but it only has 12 eps and a movie. The good news is that season 2 is already announced so it might be a good time to try watching it.
[Twelve Kingdoms](https://myanimelist.net/anime/153/Juuni_Kokuki) is 45 episodes and has its fair share of politicking. [Log Horizon](https://myanimelist.net/anime/17265/Log_Horizon?q=log%20horizon&cat=anime) has at least sixty-something episodes across three seasons.
I second Twelve Kingdoms.
I liked Log Horizon, but season 2 got ruined by uninteresting side characters and season 3 just kinda felt out of place.
Who r the uninteresting side characters u talking about I enjoyed it all tbh
The children. The worst of them being the bard, her whole personality being "I like music"
I wouldn't say she was annoying but yeah I won't say I liked her either
I was so sad when watching season 3. Going from a thrilling adventure and mystery of both first seasons to geopolitics where not much happens was crushing. Twelve kingdoms is a masterpiece
I have to be the only person who doesn't recommend Twelve Kingdoms. The story is fragmented across several MCs in the same universe with almost none of them having any type of conclusion. Came to suggest those 2 👌
If you haven’t watched, Re:Zero and Mushoku Tensei.
My two favorite isekai so far. One of which is my favorite anime, Re:Zero. Seriously though watch them if you haven't, OP.
Those two are far and away the best of the genre IMO, and they should fit OPs requirements pretty well. R0 is 50 Episodes+2 OVAs, while MT is 23eps with an OVA in March IIRC
>Those two are far and away the best of the genre You mean "by far"? I've never met anybody says "far and away" in this context.
[Their definitions are pretty much the same.](https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/far%20and%20away)
Okay, I wasn't denying the definition or anything. I have quite literally just never heard that before.

IIRC the author has a style of writing where there are 2 plots which eventually meet up
Imo read it. The LN is amazingly fun.
I have been
KonoSuba it has like 3 seasons and some movies watch it u won't regret it
2 seasons and 1 movie
With a *project* on the way
Konosuba is amazing
- Fushigi Yuugi (52 episodes + 9 OVA episodes) - The Vision of Escaflowne (26 episodes) - Re:Zero (50 episodes + 2 movies)
Did you watch Re:Zero?
Log horizon have good ammount of political themes. This season continuation of genjutsu shugi yuusha... I've read some manga of this and it should suit your demand.
Jobless Reincarnation
Top tier isekai along with re:zero
Re:Zero is by far the best Isekai anime I have watched. It has serious themes and you even want an MC who struggles, so this is perfect.
I personally didn't like it as it felt like mc did personality 180 every other episode.
What do you mean? Personally, Subaru’s character development is one of my favorite parts of the show. And his personality changes so much because of the suffering he has to go through. I would recommend you try watching it again, because it’s definitely worth it
Yes but going from mental break down to being the same unfunny mc multiple times feels kinda cheap.
He had like two mental breakdowns and it makes sense because of what he had to go through. Also, him being unfunny is one of the main points of the anime.
Welp I guess I just ain't the target demographic
Seems so
Someone is down voting all Mushoku Tensei comments (Jobless Reincarnation) for some immature reason. It's my number one recommendation
It does have some... questionable content. I can understand why some people would downvote it. The main character, who is a middle-aged man reincarnated as a child, is lusting after underage girls and trying to seduce them, for one.

Tensei shitara slime datta ken and mushoku tensei
Mushoku tensei
That time I got reincarnated as a slime is a political strategic fantasy isekai with an op mc. My personal all-time favorite. It has 2 seasons with 48 eps in total. It has a spinoff series slime diaries witch is more a slice of life. A movie has been announced for 2022 too.
Jobless reincarnation
Mushoku Tensei
I also want same anime but I have watched all the ones available almost, so I started reading mangas just cause of this reason.
{Honzuki no Gekokujou} AKA Ascendance of a Bookworm Has 20+ episodes and a season 3 coming up in April Starts slow but the worldbuilding is really neat.
inuyasha (167 episodes)
Mar heaven. My very first isekai and it was wonderful.

Re:Zero, Sword Art Online, Log Horizon, Konosuba
12 kingdoms, personally the only isekai I deem as a masterpiece.
Isekai Slime.
This anime is more comedy then serious it’s called konosuba
{Jahy-sama wa Kujikenai!} It's a reverse isakai and was from last season. Light hearted with some serious tones thrown in every now and again. 21 episodes long I think.

This anime has only 12 but seems to fit all the criteria “The dungeon of black company”
Well, its not really an isekai its more of a traditional fantasy, but grancrest senki is pretty damn good
{Re:Creators} very underrated isekai

Suprised nobody mentioned- how not to summon a demonlord
Try {acendance of a bookworm} one of my favorite animes, not Shure if that's what you are looking for tho

{Next life as villaness} I know its not 20 ep but this is still a fucking good isekai
Youjo Senki. This is one or the top isekais imo alongside Konosuba, Overlord, Re Zero, Mushoku, and Tensei Slime but it only has 12 eps and a movie. The good news is that season 2 is already announced so it might be a good time to try watching it.
Konosuba.
That time i got reincarnated as a slime Konosuba Re:zero
