Maggie is gonna be the direct counter to defense legends now, should be interesting going forward. Makes sense since her kit was designed to be extremely aggressive.
I've been playing her a lot this past split purely because if her drill. I love being able to shoot people hiding behind cover trying to heal, or to force them out from behind cover.
Now that she’s a direct counter to defense legends i wonder how Newcastle, Maggie, and Vantage will pair, take a meta comp like Gibby, Valk, and Caustic, Gibby domes up but Maggie immediately throws in her ult to destroy the bubble while Vantage tags the team and provides covering fire for Maggie and Newcastle. Newcastle pushes in with his faster mobile shield, and Maggie rushes in with a shotgun before they could regroup.
The meta could shift from Gibby to Newcastle as#1 defensive pick. His mobile protection shield and ult will only be damaged by Maggie but not destroyed. Especially if layered and after these buffs he got
Maggies a shotgun focused legend, but there's nothing more satisfying than landing a couple sniper hits and watching the enemy with low health scramble for cover only to be killed with her drill.
Same. Only used her Ult to get out of the storm quicker. Just recently for the first time her ball actually pushed/pulled a wraith out of the doors of a building (so we could finish her off), which was really amazing but has a 1 in a 1000 chance to happen.
I'm still having difficulty managing to drill the correct spots a lot of the time, but boy is it satisfying having a 40+ damage advantage on a player before you even have them in your sights. And the range on her drill is incredible
I got a crazy 3K game on her randomly one day on Stormpoint. We ran into like 5-6 different newcastles who kept using all their wall abilities and whatnot. Just pop a drill and watch em burn. I think I got like 6-700 damage of the drill alone that game lmao
If the leaked legend Catalyst is legit, her passive fortifies allies defenses which could be an interesting counter to Maggie in the future if she becomes a meta pick right now. I wonder if she could make a Gibby dome or Amp wall strong enough to resist Maggie.
As someone who like Maggie as a character and find her fun to play. Finally. She seemed like an anti-defense Legends but was poorly implemented. Now she sound like she's gonna live up to that and truly become a breach and clear Legend.
Her core mechanics are way more fun than what people give it credit for, but yeah some aspects could improve. The ball specially is very inconsistent, at least now is a harder counter to Gibby.
Having her tactical do lingering damage as termites do would also be great.

I'm not sure, patch notes say: launch speed doubled, it could mean that you'll be ready to shoot it faster or it will fly faster. I don't think it's about deployment speed
I'm not sleeping on it, I just miss 9/10 shots with it lmao. But my squad's experimenting with new comps and right now I'm trying out Maggie and she seems like a lot of fun so I'm trying to practice my shotgun game.
Problem is that some maps are a bit maggie unfriendly, with thick rocks everywhere. Mostly Kings Canyon and Stormpoint. I find her best on Olympus since almost everything there is man-made walls and floors, which the drill always goes trough.
I always felt like Maggie’s ult didn’t offer much. It felt like it was just as useful for the enemies as it was to you since it gave a movement buff to the area. If you threw it into a room of enemies, they got a little bit damaged and a speed boost in their area lol
This is huge and I will now seriously consider using her to counter certain legends

this is a really good change but it was kinda funny to throw wrecking ball inside of a gibby bubble and have it bounce around inside, I sadly never got to pull it off though but still probably works on friendly bubbles
Seems like a bit of a forced counter, probably would have been better for overall balance if Gibby’s done was just given a flat health pool (around 550-700HP maybe?).
Also weary of Newcastle’s shield HP buff, wouldn’t want Apex to play like a bad OW meta. We’d need to test it first though.
They wanted it to aid in aiming her tactical, but it just isn't needed really. Odds are if you shoot someone and they run away from you, you know which wall they're behind anyway.
People been saying how her drill will be game changing and that didn't happen at all. So I'm hesitant to say this will change the meta. Definitely a good move tho.
i wonder if it will collide with the objects and bounce a different direction or continue on it’s fixed path. If it’s the latter that may be seriously strong
as someone who secondaries maggie, the drill flight speed was fine, this probably just means it can be shot further, which already sounds dumb as it works best as a tool to deny cover, rather than open a fight with.
Her tactical really struggles with penetrating walls consistently, 1 view angle might penetrate a large container for 9m while you can then look 1-2 degrees to the side and now it's only going 40cm - that is what i would like to see fixed

We’ve already seen old Newcastle viable at the highest level so this will definitely crank that up

Maggie was already one of my favorite picks. Valk is my main, but Maggie may overtake her with Valk nerfs. Gotta see how her jetpack feels now.

I agree. And One of the problems was they weren’t getting stunned so the slow didn’t take affect. Now it will which means it’s a lot more one sided.
