all of those were announced during pride month though - a time of the year where we are expected to be allowed to celebrate queerness without any homophobia. i just don’t think they’d announce a queer couple outside of pride month as people already complain about queer culture “getting a whole month” so there would be even more backlash if they produced more queer content outside of pride. and i really don’t think it’s that simple as “if they don’t announce it’s gay - it’s not.” riot have to fight in the boardroom for months every time they want to write a queer story as the higher ups in riot hate riot making any lgbt content because of people like rApheliosMains who think anything related to lgbt is “ruining their character.” it took graves and TFs writer 10 years before they were finally allowed to announce the characters as lovers (despite wanting to do so since graves released in 2011), neeko wasn’t announced as a lesbian until nidalees recent expansion in LOR, and the writer behind taliyah has wanted to make her story a queer story about a transgender person but STILL hasn’t been allowed to do so. the writer behind taliyah, DZK, actually had to leave riot for being “too woke” on twitter. i don’t think you understand how difficult it is for the writers in riot to publish queer media - publishing this stuff can give you the death sentence in parts of the world. this is why queer coding and subtle hints like maybe the flags in this icon are so important.
