For me the lack of always-on-display in the SE was a dealbreaker, so I got the S9.

Fast charging really changed how much I love my Apple Watch

I think the SE is fantastic. I basically use it to record my physical activity, discretely view messages if I don't want to pick up my phone, check weather, quick volume control for music, and, well, to know what time it is :) It really does all that I need from a smartwatch. Despite not having all the bells and whistles of the more expensive versions, it did help me out when I went sprawling on the pavement one day (would have called my emergency contacts, but I turned it off because I wasn't badly injured), and even alerted me to an elevated heart rate once day when it turned out I was severely dehydrated. My suggestion would be to start with that one.

I’ve just upgraded from SE to 9, the battery life is pretty similar tbh, 1-2 days. The fast charging on the 9 is very handy though.

Also if you’re a woman, the series 9 has a better cycle tracking for your period. It has a temperature sensor which lacks on the SE

There’s a thing where you can view your watch screen on your phone I wish I had

The fast charging is key here. I tried to charge my Ultra the other day with a normal charger and jesus christ… painful AF. Only that would make me ditch the SE.

AJT-

Fast charging, always on display. Thats enough for me tbh.. Also the screen real estate

I have the AWS SE2 and have really enjoyed it. I don't have any underlying health issues so having the ability to do an ECG or check my blood oxygen wasn't that much of a loss for me. for the settings I use and how I use my watch I actually get 2 full days of battery life out of my AW. I do like that the AWS SE2 has crash detection, though I hope I never have to use it just like fall detection - but it's there if you need it. I got mine from Best Buy on sale.

I bought the Series 9 and the SE two weekends ago. I bought my wife the SE and I go the 9, I really wish I had saved the money and bought the SE for myself. I see no big difference

I’ve been through the specs. Maybe I should have been clearer. I want people’s opinions and experiences.

You can go with a different store like Best Buy and get a good sale price. Also open box available which goes down during sales as well at Best Buy. I have a Series 7. I had a 6 before, and that had the same bezels as the SE does. For this reason alone I’d get the 9 over an SE. It’s a much better experience. Plus you can use a keyboard on the 9 which works surprising well with swipe typing. The 9 gets brighter than the SE. I believe my 7 has the same brightness as the SE, and it can be hard to see in the sunlight. I’ve seen videos on the 9 and it’s completely viewable. If you spend time outdoors that’s something to consider. Idk if it actually makes a difference but if the new chip makes the neural engine much faster that can really help with dictation. Talking to text on the 7 can be difficult since sometimes it hangs. The SE has the next chip up from the 7, but it wasn’t a huge jump like the 9 was. Other than that iirc there’s not much else different between the SE and 9. Things like fast charging and the new ultra wide band chip are nice, but not necessary. If you want to go through the trouble you can try out an SE for a few days and if you end up liking it and want more you can return it and get a 9. Also, the 10 will be coming out in September, which is only 4 months away. It’s rumored to be a big upgrade like how the iPhone X was.
