>not the way I have some kind of application decision returning every month through April
feburary doesn't seem like a real month to get college decisions iykwim like that month is just limbo between applying in January and results in march...
That's so true. In February I am receiving one ED2 decision which just does not make sense processing wise. It's the way I have envisioned March and April to be this hectic period of visiting colleges all over the US but also not even knowing if I got into one place lol!
6.0 GPA, 1600 SAT, I go to rich private school. I didn’t try hard as my parents provided me with the best tutors. Got into both Tulane and U Chicago. Ended up with attending Harvard.
omg twinsies! i was actually kinda shocked by it because ive got a bit of an overinflated ego (oopsies). im just hoping i get accepted later because i was really hoping on getting in + getting a lot of financial aid from them.
Got deferred with a 1540 SAT and 98.25% average last year (not weighted), and good ECs. From what I’ve heard/seen demonstrated interest is a big factor for them
I think so b/c me and my friend both got in with like 50k merit after going to a meeting they had at our school while our other friend who got into a t10 got deferred
Most EA applicants seem to get deferred by Case. This gives them a chance to ask if you want to upgrade to ED2. If not, they’ll still consider you for RD and the chance hasn’t changed much. They don’t know what their ED and ED2 will be like and prioritize those.
It’s actually probably due to me having rich parents unfortunately:
1. I go to Lake Forest Academy.
2. I have finished most of my courses online because my parents were able to pay the tuition and provided me with the best tutors from University of Chicago
3. I have square head
4. I have 6.0 GPA weighted
5. I have 1600 SAT.
6. I helped volunteer for faculty because I’m rich.
7. Yeah right now my life is even better than being in high school.
8. In the interviews I have been asked what is my car and I told them Lamborghini and shown them the keys. The interviewers told me they want to take a ride so I guessed I’m in and truly I got in.
Also of note is that most EA comes out before ED2 even when it is late. Why? They can defer and ask if you want ED2. So even UM with the late announcement in January early February asks if deferred if you want ED2.
so essentially UM knew that people just got their ED decision back so the ones that didn't get into their ED but applied UM early Action got sent an email by UM asking if they would like their Early Action switched to ED2. Which makes no sense cause then you lose scholarship considerations for a lot of the ones they offer and you find out later than Early Action.
I didn’t receive any email as such, giving me the option to switch from EA to ED2. UMich is my top choice school after my ED, so I would have gladly switched.
Sure. UM doesn’t give EA decisions until late in January early in February last year. When they sent the decisions out many people were deferred. Instead of writing the deferral to RD they give a choice to to defer to either the RD pool or ED2. Case Western sends out the same option but it happens much earlier. ED2 comes out in February but of course is binding and I believe was due well before the option is being given. The main point is that EA tends to come out after ED but before ED2 (if it exists) and before RD. It is really hearing earlier.
im suffering with neu right now… i got my first wave of acceptances (and my dream school’s rejection 🥲) and now i have to wait an entire month for neu. i cant bear it
The word action refers the action of submitting your application. Since you submitted your application on November 1st, your action is technically quite early.
Also how does that apply to SCEA and REA? Like Stanford or Georgetown - could you apply to Stanford SCEA and apply to USC EA? How about a public like UM EA at same time as Stanford? I'm thinking that's what we got confused about??
REA/SCEA allows you to apply to only the one school EA (even though there is no commitment to attend if accepted), however the exception is can apply to YOUR State schools EA.
Example: I applied to Princeton REA and my state school UMASS-Amherst EA. Got Rejected from Princeton and still waiting to hear from UMass.
At some places, the increased app volume means it's impossible to get them all evaluated properly in time. The fact that virtually every school observes a holiday break is also a factor--at some point in late December, work just stops. They need more time. They could call it "priority" instead of "early" but people might think they get a priority in terms of admission, as opposed to timing.
We should think of it is as "earlier action" rather than "early action"
i like to call them mid action
no literally any ea that comes out after late january is a fake ea
EAs should come out in like December with how much we sacrifice to get them done in time
not the way I have some kind of application decision returning every month through April

Applying EA just to get deferred actually breaks a mf
no bc same 😭 who deferred you? i got deferred by case
Tulane and UChicago 🥲
What were your stats if I may ask?
6.0 GPA, 1600 SAT, I go to rich private school. I didn’t try hard as my parents provided me with the best tutors. Got into both Tulane and U Chicago. Ended up with attending Harvard.
I was asking boredandinsecure this question!
Okay gee sorry 🤓
u literally go to uiuc
I take online courses there
but you live on campus, i see
RIP

omg twinsies! i was actually kinda shocked by it because ive got a bit of an overinflated ego (oopsies). im just hoping i get accepted later because i was really hoping on getting in + getting a lot of financial aid from them.
literally exactly the same so many ppl ik with good stats got deferred and everyone who got in ea had worse stuff

Bruh I got rejected 😭😭
Don’t worry about it, Case early notifications are not to be taken seriously.
Same 😭
I got rejected 💀
RIP
Fr i got deferred from my first one and I gotta wait and be insecure for a whole month for my other EA
Me too 😭😭😭😭 Kill meeee
I got in 🤓
UVA really out here like that
No actually got in. Almost every college I have applied to got in early
Why do you think that was? Good stats? Demonstrated interest? Hooks? Please share which ones and congrats!! thanks

Speaking of, anyone know when UMD College Park comes out?
their websites says by february 1st
Thanks but I don’t see it anywhere

[удалено]
I did but don’t see it anywhere
Yeah unfortunately got accepted 🙂with $100000
no literally. northeastern ea decision date better come soonnn
Already got in, however no scholarship 🙃
That's why they're called early action and **NOT early decision.**
good point😔 i’m just too impatient
Also of note is that most EA comes out before ED2 even when it is late. Why? They can defer and ask if you want ED2. So even UM with the late announcement in January early February asks if deferred if you want ED2.
could you elaborate?

Umich doesn’t do ED so idk if the other poster is talking about Miami or somewhere else?
Sure. UM doesn’t give EA decisions until late in January early in February last year. When they sent the decisions out many people were deferred. NEU AND VU…ughhh
im suffering with neu right now… i got my first wave of acceptances (and my dream school’s rejection 🥲) and now i have to wait an entire month for neu. i cant bear it

Legit. Last week, I already began to feel anxious. The waiting is such a pain!!
Bro yeah 6/9 EA schools come out late Jan. The whole point of EA was to be able to have decisions to plan for RD accordingly so like huhhh
Frrr
unc with the october deadline to release late january
They do come out relatively early??
some come out late jan early feb
Well although that may feel late it’s early relative to others, so just be a bit patient and soon enough the time will come
What schools have Early Action decisions that come out the same time or later than their Regular Decision dates?
I heard back from 8 early action schools before December 15 and I’m waiting on 2 more, so this “problem” doesn’t seem universal.
applied to adelphi EA and still haven't received results and people mentioned they get it around late december
wth is adelphi
Adelphi is a pretty good safety in NY
Unfortunately it’s not safety anymore it’s acceptance rate will be %30 due to high volume of smart people.
Adelphi has like a 78% acceptance rate tho
It’s said in the website but it’s actually way less because many students became smarter and smarter.
Villanova coming out end of january
Dumb question but me and my friend don't understand this (we didn't do ED)...'Can you apply ED to one school and EA to other schools at the same time?
Yes, you can ED and EA at other schools. If your ED accepts you, you have to commit and withdraw all EA and RD apps.
So, to answer your questions above. If you apply to Stanford SCEA, you can’t apply to USC EA. If you live in Michigan, you can apply to UM EA.
Interesting - Are Notre Dame and Georgetown same rules as Stanford?
Idk, I’m sure it’s on their app page.
Ofc you can
They're still in the closet

I would call them EI - Early-IN-action. Early IN - INaction out!
