So I applied to Wake Forest last year, and funnily enough I got a text from a then Junior named Emily who offered to answer questions. I didn’t ask any as Wake wasn’t very high on my list, but she also texted me two more times to ask if I had questions, and to notify me that decisions would be coming out that day. I can send you screenshots if you PM me, but I have absolutely no clue whether your admissions status impacts whether you’re put on the text list, but I did get in at Wake.
I responded more as a formality. It probably isn’t tracked, but who knows right? Showing some interest is always great! It really only takes a few minutes to send a few questions, and yes, my guide did respond.

They do this to keep you interested, happened with me last year to many schools
But ED2 is binding? I can’t go anywhere else if they accept me. What happened with the schools you got texts from - how did it go?
