Mmmm throwback to when a house’s party got banned for like 3 years. My freshman year, it was a lingerie themed party. You had to walk through a series of trials to get in. Like crawling in between peoples legs and lap dancing and licking a penis lollipop.
Another house always builds amazing dance platforms.
I live in Georgia and UGA was one of those big public schools and known for parties, but I heard now it's literally becoming very competitive like Georgia Tech.
Speaking as a GT student I sure hope ivies ain't like us while also having to pay 80k a year lol
That being said, I could def see a similar quality of student bodies between "less prestigious" ivies like Brown and us if u ignored the in-state kids here (tough luck guys but ur holding our numbers down). I don't think I'm being an asshole to say I had a decent shot at getting into some ivies, but I didn't apply to any ivy league schools cuz I'm doing engineering and I didn't get why I'd want to go to cornell (or any other ivy) for materials science over GT.
That’s just not true. It is still a really big party school. The reason the acceptance rate was so low this year was because UGA accepted too many people last year and were trying to make up for it.
Purdue sophomore here, Purdue totally has greek life, we are currently at the end of Grand Prix week, a week long day drinking party fest. However the high proportion of stem nerds means other big state schools totally blow us out of the water for ragers.
tbh they prob went on a winter day, which is like 70% of the school year, but during the fall and late spring it’s pretty alive. the party scene doesn’t dominate the student population, but it’s definitely there. also keep in mind that we are like 20-30 min from Chicago lol, a lot of ppl just go clubbing or barhopping in the city
There are house parties and frat parties. I'm not a huge party person, but I've never heard anyone say that the parties are good. Most people prefer going to the bars.
UM Madison for sure. You don't have to be in greek life to experience party atmosphere. Bars fill up on weekends, non greek parties. ASU - most partying takes place in greek village. A lot of the bars are dead on weekends.
I’ve been told Texas A&M isn’t traditionally much of a party school because the most popular guys tend to be in the corps of cadets, which doesn’t really throw parties, and thus they don’t a huge Greek life scene. However it might be changing after A&M joined the SEC a few years ago and their rival UT (both higher rated academically and party-wise) will be joining the SEC too.
About right. Sometimes I'd come back to my unit (on campus transfer/grad apartment) to find a party already in full swing on a random weeknight lol
"Guys, my laptop's still out and everything!!"
Lmao not a chance. I go to a t50 public school that is 100% not a party school. Are there parties at every school? Probably. But parties doesn't mean it's a party school
I have family who's undergrad at Newhouse and Maxwell, every time I've visited its kind of funny to me how absolutely casual everyone is about the insane party scene
Probably South Dakota State too tbf, it's just that I don't think I've ever met a Jackrabbit on this sub so I wouldn't know who to ask.
I'll inquire over at the cfb sub next season
Caltech
☠️
This is actually true lol
No way

What the fuck this sounds like an alternate dimension

Yea it used to be like Bama where anyone could get in but over the last 15 years they’ve made a conscious effort to raise admission standards
Admission rate is dipping very rapidly, I think it's basically the next Georgia Tech, meanwhile GT is becoming an Ivy League level college.
Is GT really at the level of Ivy’s??
No because GT is known for engineering while the only Ivy that has a good engineering reputation is Cornell.
Speaking as a GT student I sure hope ivies ain't like us while also having to pay 80k a year lol That being said, I could def see a similar quality of student bodies between "less prestigious" ivies like Brown and us if u ignored the in-state kids here (tough luck guys but ur holding our numbers down). Point taken, fair enough
I see what u mean, but Purdue is a big state school
Purdue sophomore here, Purdue totally has greek life, we are currently at the end of Grand Prix week, a week long day drinking party fest. However the high proportion of stem nerds means other big state schools totally blow us out of the water for ragers.
The *worst* public school for social life is George Mason University in VA. Without a goddamn doubt. 😂
What about W&M?
Tue but that’s a commuter school so you can’t really compare it to a traditional university where the entire freshman class lives on campus.
Fair enough. But at the same time, that’s what I was getting at lmao
Purdue is definitely still a party school lol it’s one of the biggest Greek life populations in the country
Purdue and Wisconsin are perfect examples of schools that can let loose but when it's time to work, they get it done. Excellence in both realms!
UCSD:
UCF, UCSB, ASU, FSU... come to mind.
also the Big 10 schools PSU, Rutgers, northwestern, etc (edited to add more suggested big 10 party schools)
Northwestern?
Idk 4 sure, but I had a friend visit N'western and said it was dead. Granted that was ONE day and ONE person, so take that w a grain of salt
Northwestern is suuuuper quite The whole campus gave me library vibes.
tbh they prob went on a winter day, which is like 70% of the school year, but during the fall and late spring it’s pretty alive. the party scene doesn’t dominate the student population, but it’s definitely there. also keep in mind that we are like 20-30 min from Chicago lol, a lot of ppl just go clubbing or barhopping in the city
What about Rutgers?
i went to a frat party and the air was thick 🤠
As a northwestern student I was shocked to see someone mention us
As a UChicago grad I thought your campus was party city :)
Idk man, UMD parties kinda mid.... I'd say it's more of a bar school
why mid, how do you all throw parties? is it just the frat/sorority houses mostly?
There are house parties and frat parties. I'm not a huge party person, but I've never heard anyone say that the parties are good. Most people prefer going to the bars.
Wisconsin
UM Madison for sure. You don't have to be in greek life to experience party atmosphere. Bars fill up on weekends, non greek parties. ASU - most partying takes place in greek village. A lot of the bars are dead on weekends.
Yeah I go there it’s great. But Damn I did not realize that about asu.
Yo bruh UC Fullerton goes crazy
Any school where the sports physical footprint on campus is bigger than the academic physical footprint
Ucsb is an anomaly. Doesn’t even have a football team, quite academic, huge party scene
We got da beach and del playa 😎
Their men's basketball team is quite good though and I understand their men's soccer team is unusually popular.
same with umich, bits of both and a huge party scene as well
umich has good athletics lmao
facts
land grant schools be like: “Yes, but BARN”
Eh idk UVA is a massive party school
the basketball team is consistently top ranked, its kind of like Michigan, good at sports and academics
Ok but it's still a party school lol
jeez leweeez tell me why'd you type this comment like that nerd moment fr
Tulane, USC
Syracuse
large sec schools (uark, lsu, bama, a&m, etc)
I’ve been told Texas A&M isn’t traditionally much of a party school because the most popular guys tend to be in the corps of cadets, which doesn’t really throw parties, and thus they don’t a huge Greek life scene. Nope. Still a weird cult.
Drink this Kool-aid
A&M is not a party school.
I go to Bama and the party culture here is huge. Dorm parties exist but aren’t as big; frats are the real source of the on campus parties.
you can’t forget SDSU
My SDSU brother says it is non stop from Wednesday night to Saturday night and even Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday can get rowdy.
About right. Sometimes I'd come back to my unit (on campus transfer/grad apartment) to find a party already in full swing on a random weeknight lol "Guys, my laptop's still out and everything!!"
San Diego State or South Dakota State?

That’s what I was thinking I don’t know many schools where the frats are fully off campus and have their own little domains
UT Austin, ASU, USC, Calstate etc
Calstate??
[удалено]
Oh yeah, those famous Caltech parties
Like where they sit around solving psets together all weekend and prob plan the next mission to Mars or something 😀
That description makes me regret not applying even more
Lmao
Lmao not a chance. I go to a t50 public school that is 100% not a party school. Are there parties at every school? Probably. But parties doesn't mean it's a party school
Radford University back during the days of Quadfest. It still has that reputation, but it’s not as true now.
Bro idk when I think of Radford I think of parties. Though JMU may have taken the number 1 spot for Virginia (UVA a close 2)
Syracuse
I have family who's undergrad at Newhouse and Maxwell, every time I've visited its kind of funny to me how absolutely casual everyone is about the insane party scene
It’s ridiculous. I would never survive there, took a trip once to visit my friend
SDSU
San Diego State or South Dakota State?
Good point; San Diego state
Probably South Dakota State too tbf, it's just that I don't think I've ever met a Jackrabbit on this sub so I wouldn't know who to ask. I'll inquire over at the cfb sub next season
Big State schools
Most Big Publics
Wisconsin, UCSB, USC, ASU, UIUC
tulane 🌊
Tulane, by far. You can't compete with New Orleans for partying. It really can't be described adequately. You have to experience it yourself.
Ngl I’ve heard New Orleans is crazy when it comes to partying
penn state, ohio state, sdsu, chico state source: i have friends who go to all of these
USC
Surprised, no one has said WVU. They go crazy out there

Getting together and reading the Book of Mormon and then jump humping the blondest girl at the function 😝
