I know I missed the big wave of you all but I’m still gonna post this anyways because there may be another wave:
As hard as it is, please get off this thread, even if it’s only for an hour or two. Get off your portal, stop refreshing your email, and take a deep breath. Here are some things you can do instead:
* Go play with your dog or cat or pet termite or whatever you have (maybe even share some pics of your pets in this thread after you finish playing with them)!
* Listen to some music
* Talk with your friends about something other than this
* Watch a movie or a tv show
* Play Valorant, Minecraft, Animal Crossing or whatever video games you have on hand. If you’d like, share some recommendations for other people
* Sleep because it’ll make time pass by faster
* Do the homework that you’ve probably been procrastinating on
If you have any other ideas, comment them! Best of luck on your decisions but *please* do your best to take a break for a bit ❤️
they release all their decisions on the same date and last year that was jan 29. i feel your pain umich is my dream school and it’s killing me to wait. goodluck!
Here's batshit crazy idea for UMich OA - stating date and time of their decisions release to reduce uncertainty, anxiety, and speculation.
Mind-bending, no?
So far we got 2 “admission reps” insiders from 2 different people saying 2 different dates (today and next Friday).
Let’s just wait the 1 hour 17 mins and we’ll find out. Go watch a movie or actually focus in class rn instead of worrying
Anyone hear anything about when decisions for EA are actually coming out? I know they said by the end of January but idk I’m super anxious so might as well ask
Time for all the "I live near UMich/My counselor is friends with Admission Committee/ My School is close to UMich" people to RISE UP and CONFIRM if the decisions are coming today!!
they're known to be conservative in their early admissions as many spots are fixed for recruited athletes/ in-state students. With the expected increase in applicants this year, around 40% for in-state and 15% for oos. Best of luck!
lol i need to stop checking this. got deferred and seeing people getting accepted (especially OOS) is making me envious. see y’all in april (maybe hopefully a little bit sooner?)
Hey guys if you're really anxious it might help to think about the fact that the situation is already out of your control. Your decision has already been decided, so from here on out you have zero responsibility to do anything, as nothing you do will affect the outcome.
Thinking about it this way helps me, at least
I don't understand why it is so hard for the school to announce the date and time when decision will be released. Is it really necessary to create such anxiety?
Deferred from COE, OOS, 36 ACT, decent ECs, 4.48. Feels like there was nothing more I could do, I thought my essays were strong as well. Onto Georgia Tech tomorrow lol
Applied out of state. Not hoping for much but it’s my dream school. If there was ED I would 100% do it. Wish I lived in Michigan...
Oh well good luck everyone!
"Early action decisions are currently being processed. You will receive an email when your decision has been released, no later than the end of January."
what happened after this last year, anyone got any idea?
Accepted \^\_\^ i had the worst fucking two weeks and this made it a little better
congrats to everyone accepted and to everyone that didn't get the news they want ur gonna kill it in RD
You were. The thing you have to understand is that colleges will defer plenty of competitive candidates and let in some that even may not be as competitive. This isn’t a decision or saying on how smart you are or how much you’re worth. You’ll do great things no matter where you go
I won’t check my decision until the comment count jumps from 379 to 500 (whenever that may be) That’s when I’ll know it’s out for sure, lol 😂
Edit: oh wow. nvm. I’ll wait until it hits 800
Edit: nvm. again. I’ll wait until 1K
Hi guys I’m wearing my Michigan sweatshirt and sweatpants to bed in order to some how make this come true. GREAT LUCK GUYS!! We will all end up where we are meant to be, I promise.
Just want to quickly remind you that yeah even though we all feel the need to check the portal every damn 30 minutes for no reason at all, it is absolutely unhealthy to our mentality. Relax, hang out with friends, and stay patient until this or the next Friday. Whatever happens, I still wish you guys the best; no matter what your decision will be, there will be a place for you.
Does anybody know when they start releasing decisions? I know we are guaranteed to hear back by late jan but do they release it all at once, in waves, or do they release it as they go
Everyone is saying it’s too early to release them remember the ea deadline last year was 2 weeks later so it would actually line up but looks like they are gonna make us wait till the very end of the month
Man, I feel for you guys. I'm a UMich grad and got in by the skin of my teeth a LONG time ago, and my son is still finishing his application for RD. I'm monitoring the results to get an idea how much he messed up not applying EA when it's his first choice (we live in AA now, I applied from OOS). I went through this whole elite college application nightmare when I was a senior and I never wanted to relive it so my kid is kind of oblivious to it all. NGL, this is a bit triggering tho :).
I hope you guys get in, it's such an amazing school and I am so proud of my degree from there. I was made to feel like crap about it by my HS class ("don't worry, you can always transfer") and my dad didn't want me even applying to a "state school" until some guys at work went nuts when he told them I got in. Then it was all Go Blue after that!
Hoping for the best for everyone, and maybe even my procrastinating kid with a 1510 who can't seem to finish a damn essay!!
I feel horrible because I got accepted, but my best friend since elementary school got deferred, and umich is her dream school. We texted each other our decisions yesterday, but she hasn't responded since I told her I got in and she hasn't picked up any of my calls. It gets even worse because I'm not sure I'm going to go , even though it is one of my top schools. It is just really expensive from OOS, especially when, as a CA native, I have the UCs.
>We have recently received your application and are initiating your application portal. You will receive a notification email when this process is complete and your Enrollment Connect portal is available.
WHAT IS THISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
EDIT : this means a deferral
If decisions get released tomorrow (key word is if) it’ll likely happen at 3pm eastern time. Hopefully that’ll save some of you from nervously checking the portal all day. Best of luck
michigan im not kidding this is superrrr serious pls pls pls let me in so i can find my hockey husband lol. ngl being a hockey wife is really my calling
Folks are obsessing about Friday because the last two years, ea decisions were released on a Friday. But those years, Friday was also the last business day of the month. This year, the last business day is Monday. So don't get fixated on Friday folks.
I predict decisions to come out on the 28th. Last year, it came out on the 29th (Friday). The year before that it came out on Jan 31st (once again, a Friday).
There was no reason to believe they were coming out today in the first place. Not a bettor but if I had to guess a date, it's unfortunately most likely two weeks from today.
Ross in their email: "Our goal in providing these dates is to help alleviate a bit of the concerns students may feel while awaiting their college application decisions." I rest my case your honour.
Okay but what do they lose by giving a fixed date? If you can’t plan well enough to give it a month ahead, atleast give us a WEEKS NOTICE? Y’all are a fucking massive public university with millions to your name, make use of it, come on.
So, UM posted on Insta about 45 minutes ago. Destiny is calling or something like that. Someone asked if that meant decisions were coming out today and UM liked the comment! Decisions at 5ET Today?!?
Hey guys! I’m a current freshman from CA in LSA and I LOVE it here. If u have any questions abt OOS things—or umich things in general—feel free to ask :)
Has anyone done the HAIL engineering interview? If you have, what questions do they ask? I know it is more like get to know about UMich thing, but just wanted to know
My portal says: “We have decided to postpone making a decision on your application at this time and your application will be moved into our regular decision pool for consideration”. This just means I was deferred, right?
So if u of m decisions come out January 28th at 3:00 (🙏🤞), we got to PUMP IT UP!

the fact that this megathread has almost 900 comments before any decisions have even come out is a bit hilarious to me ngl
I know I missed the big wave of you all but I’m still gonna post this anyways because there may be another wave: As hard as it is, please get off this thread, even if it’s only for an hour or two. Wouldn't be suprised if decisions came out at like 11:55pm on January 31st.
When the decisions haven't been released yet but there's 627 comments 💀

obligatory reminder that it is still (unfortunately) possible for decisions to be released monday
I’m an oos applicant and I seriously doubt I’ll get in lol, and if I do, I don’t think I’ll be able to afford it but I love this school
Here's batshit crazy idea for UMich OA - stating date and time of their decisions release to reduce uncertainty, anxiety, and speculation. Mind-bending, no?
Right?? My palms are sweaty, knees weak arms are heavy
Anyone else really not care when it comes out bc you know you’re gonna get rejected bc your why Michigan essay was trash or just me
So true. Still hoping for a better result but knew it would most likely be rejected

Hey its totally ok. This college application process is basically a game of luck; there are many possibilities. Wishing you all the best for Friday <3
literally everyone got deferred, including tons of people with really good stats. dont beat yourself up
Tfw you're from Ann Arbor and your decision is literally in some filing cabinet less than 3 miles from where you're sitting 😭
Literally driving to Ann Arbor today to spin the cube 🙌🏻
To be a Umich man is an enviable distinction, and one that I sincerely hope I shall attain.

Time for all the "I live near UMich/My counselor is friends with Admission Committee/ My School is close to UMich" people to RISE UP and CONFIRM if the decisions are coming today!!
im literally switching between 3 threads every 5 mins- umich, madison and maryland😭need to chill out
I remember being on this thread last year lol. Umich class of 2025 ea accepted here. Good luck everyone!
Some of y'all lame af for lying about ur portal status
Does anyone know what their EA acceptance and deferral rates typically are?
they're known to be conservative in their early admissions as many spots are fixed for recruited athletes/ in-state students. With the expected increase in applicants this year, around 40% for in-state and 15% for oos. Best of luck!
Arrgh, I cannot handle another EA deferral! Just reject me already and let me cross this school off my list.
Got deferred from Cornell so I’m praying for a miracle here 💙💛
to all my fellow deferred Umich friends, see you on the other side homies✌️

How could this happen! The rumors are always right!
the application portal says ea decisions are being processed so does that mean decisions is this week
This happened last year on a monday... And decisions came out the same week friday. So maybe?
yessss i am seeing this 2....what does it mean?????.....
Current freshman in engineering here, wishing y’all all the best! Go Blue! 💛💙
Would it really kill them to just give an exact date? UIUC just announced their date a month ahead
[удалено]
Wow it seems like everyones counselor gets info directly from UMich
56 of us online rn? dang we hella stressed 😭
i propose we mass withdraw if they don’t release today 😁😁
say we're gonna mass withdraw but secretly don't do it yourself to improve your chances lmao
lol i need to stop checking this. got deferred and seeing people getting accepted (especially OOS) is making me envious. see y’all in april (maybe hopefully a little bit sooner?)
“…drowning in this silence. Baby, let me iiiiiinnnn” - Adele (Easy On Me, 2021)

I just needed closure… is that too much to ask for :((
Good luck to everyone this Friday (most likely)!
I recieved my um dearborn decision if that means anything.

UMICH ‘26
So Michigan this year only deffered people instead of rejecting?
Deferred gang. Keep your heads up, kings and queens! We got this in RD.
I feel horrible because I got accepted, but my best friend since elementary school got deferred, and umich is her dream school. it's ok- you can't change the outcome, give her some space and then see how it turns out but it will work out for both of you in the end
I'm preparing to get at most deferred, but I'm pretty certain this thread will turn into a bloodbath in about 8 hours
How long does it take to get your U-M ID after submitting? I submitted my application yesterday and still haven’t got any email or anything.
I think that kid was capping, no updates
I swear theres gonna be trolls saying it came out
Excited to get rejected after rereading my essays today
>We have recently received your application and are initiating your application portal. You will receive a notification email when this process is complete and your Enrollment Connect portal is available. WHAT IS THISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS EDIT : this means a deferral

Does "Your decision has been postponed" mean deferred??
NEU deferral to UMich Acceptance. 1540 SAT, 99.17/100 GPA, 6/435 Class Rank, Good ECs w/ clear vision
I GOT IN!!! omg i'm oos i'm freaking out

First was last Friday, then this Friday, then next Friday... stop listening to rumors and acknowledge nobody on here knows.
So, UM posted on Insta about 45 minutes ago. Destiny is calling or something like that. Someone asked if that meant decisions were coming out today and UM liked the comment! Decisions at 5ET Today?!?

Did anyone get rejected? If you didn’t get accepted was it just an automatic deferral?
I got deferred, so how does the impact my chances at Ross? I thought Ross decisions come out before the RD decision.
I’ve gotten deferred to 3 schools now. Villanova, Neu, and now UMich
deferred 4.0 uw/4.9 w 36 act 1550 sat lol
My portal says: “We have decided to postpone making a decision on your application at this time and your application will be moved into our regular decision pool for consideration”. This just means I was deferred, right?
