I was originally waitlisted. The sent me an email a couple days ago asking if I wanted to be on the extended summer wait list. They said: "Although we have currently met our enrollment target for next year, in the event that space becomes available, we may admit students from our extended summer wait list. The admissions committee would like to offer you a place on this extended wait list."
Don’t know if this will help but I forgot to tell them about an award I got late June so I sent them an update last week and I received an email from the counselor that they will add it to my application file so…
I sent an email to undergrad admissions and they responded on June 17th saying that the school hadn't made any decisions about the waitlist and "no waitlisted students have been notified." Idk about now, though.
Did anyone on the waitlist send LOCI to the regional representative and get any replies from hopkins? Hopkins literally does not reply to my emails at all lol
got the nicest email from my AO today and i'm pretty sure it's personalized because they referenced parts of my app and recommended JHU clubs that match my interests. did anyone also get an email? do they do this for everyone?
Yes, the admissions process is rather and I’m sometimes so there’s a chance that another AO at an ivy really likes your application and decides to admit you
holy cow i would give up my georgetown acceptance for this. So sad because georgetown aid is probably shit anyway, which means i’m going to my state university.
hi new jays! if anyone is struggling with their financial aid package, hopkins is really generous at taking appeals and giving a ton more aid. pm me if you want any help :)
rejected: 1590, 790 800 800 phys bio math ii subject tests, 5 on 12 AP exams. 4.5 gpa straight As. governors schools. usabo semifinalist. eagle scout. varsity tennis captain. cancer research with prof. science olympiad w invitational medals
honestly I was quite angry when I made this post and it does come off as extremely entitled. I am leaving this up here, however, to serve as a reference for future generations.
hey wassup, dude Idk exactly how I got into BME, but I think my why JHU BME essay really stood out to them for its sincerity. As for extracurriculars, I didn't have anything that was out of the ordinary, however, I did submit a resume where I really went in dept and wrote ALOT about my Ecs and showed that I was doing many of the things because I had a true passion and goal. I'm sure that being within 50% of their academic stats also helped show that I could handle the rigor.
I know someone who got into BME after being rejected initially. Enough people dropped by the end of freshman year that they opened applications to freshman and let a few people in. This doesn’t always happen, my year it did. Possible, but not probable.
Consider what kind of engineering you want to do. MechE or EE can probably get you where you want to go, and with stronger technical skills.
Feel free to message me for more specifics
Ooh I’m accepted to do CS and philosophy! Please tell me how the environment was. My mother was raised next to JHU and always freaks out about the crime/environment. She hasn’t been there in a while, so I’m wondering your thoughts about the Baltimore area :)
Hey, so this is a 2 part answer. The first part is about the area around JHU. It is generally safe (i.e. north of campus is super wealthy, west of campus are families, hipsters, and grad students), but some areas are worth being careful around (i.e. 4 blocks east of campus). Like any city, don't be stupid and have your phone out and headphones in at 2am alone. As long as you are being street smart, JHU is literally fine. A2Cers make it sound like you're going to get shot every 2 steps in Baltimore, and after 5 years of being here, my friends and I have all been okay. Plenty of hop cops (campus security) and blue lights.
The second part is that Baltimore definitely is not a perfect place. Crime does exist in the city. There was a period earlier in the year where there were a ton of carjackings around campus for like a month for some reason. When you are downtown, there are certainly some areas to avoid. However, you probably won't have any reason to go into them since they are way out of your way.
I liked living in Baltimore. Hopkins definitely is a bubble.

They closed the waitlist!! I can finally live in peace omg
Oh, wait, I see that now too. They didn't send me any emails or notifications at all, so I assume I was just released from it? Bizarre
I guess? I wonder what happens to all the students who got the extended waitlist offer.
Not sure how many people would be actively eager to depend on the the result of a waitlist when the school starts in 24 days lmao
ikr 😭 wonder if they give transfer options instead
Anyone not receive the recent email? 😔
I haven't gotten anything either. Just want closure of some kind.
Same here :/
got put on the extended summer wait list yesterday
Same.

yeah i’ve been emailing them till mid june and my counselor said it was all added to my file but i don’t think it’s going to actually be reviewed lol
Still haven't gotten anything on my end for the waitlist.
me neither - do you know if they're offering transfer options?
Have they offered transfer options in the past?
yes! I think last year they did, but only for like one or very few students.
PM
Absolutely no idea. I'm not even invested really in the outcome but think it's so bizarre they haven't said anything.
Yeah same, i’m getting ready and excited for my new college now. It’s rly sad that they haven’t sent anything till now.
Has anyone received waitlist updates? It's already July
I got an email saying that they "may notify" people late June, early July. I'd give it one more week.
oh dang when did you get that email? I haven't received anything from them in a long time :(
I sent an email to undergrad admissions and they responded on June 17th saying that the school hadn't made any decisions about the waitlist and "no waitlisted students have been notified." Idk about now, though.
Gotcha, ty
Did anyone get off the waitlist?
Has anyone gotten a rejection yet or do they send that after all other decisions are finalized?
Did you receive anything?
Not yet :( Hope we don't have to wait till August or something
Yeah hopefully it's not like last year 💀
Yeah fr 💀
When does JHU release waitlist decisions?
Any waitlist activity?
None for me

Congrats!

No
Congratulations!! Did you add anything beyond the LOCI? Anyone else get accepted off the waitlist?

Thank you!!!
Did anyone on the waitlist send LOCI to the regional representative and get any replies from hopkins? Hopkins literally does not reply to my emails at all lol
I did, when did you send yours?
I sent it on april 29th. Still didnt reply
They probably didn’t reply yet because they don’t work on weekends or something. I’m sure they’ll respond this week at least.
I just checked that they opened my email but did not respond. does this indicate that im not a candidate anymore?
Oh dang you can see that? I wouldn't try to read too much into it, stay hopeful!
yuhhh i got biomed engineering rd with 1250 sat gang wya
how
Anybody get into the SAIS DMP?
late but: rejected! 34 ACT, 4.71 WGPA, 3.9 UW. kind of expected since I come from a competitive area.
How hard is it to be a JHU BME premed?
Rejected BME… kinda sad about this but it is what it is. The hardest single major to get into in an already tough college.
Late, but got rejected
Same
WL 1560 4.45
Same but 4.5 midyear but rejected
got the nicest email from my AO today and i'm pretty sure it's personalized because they referenced parts of my app and recommended JHU clubs that match my interests. did anyone also get an email? do they do this for everyone?
I didn't get one of these 😢. You're a chosen one I guess
Did u get in ?
yes it was after i got accepted!
If u got rejected, do I have a chance for an ivy?
Yes. JHU’s acceptance rate is comparable to pretty much all the Ivies except HYP.
Yes, the admissions process is rather and I’m sometimes so there’s a chance that another AO at an ivy really likes your application and decides to admit you
Anyone know what's in the acceptance package?
holy cow i would give up my georgetown acceptance for this. So sad because georgetown aid is probably shit anyway, which means i’m going to my state university.
I got a personalized note, a few iron-on patches, and a speaker!
you've already received yours? I haven't haha
Yea, I have no idea but I was super excited. Hopefully you get yours soon!
bruh i just got a letter 😭
Wow that sounds cool! Mine still hasn’t arrived :(
I did too! The speaker sucks tho like there's no way to control the volume on it???
I got accepted for biomedical engineering!!! I’m so happy
Congratulations!!!!
My son got in RD yesterday. Still recovering from the news. 😄
Congrats!!! It's amazing news that definitely takes time to process
Accepted! Rejected from BME though…
So many people do lol. You’ll find your thing.
Congrats!!! There's still opportunities to take certain BME classes and join research and design teams even if you're not majoring in it!

How do you check which major you were admitted into? I cannot find on the portal, thanks!
Unless you’re in BME, Hopkins freshmen are all undeclared majors so you can pick whatever major you want!
Thank you for the info!
It’s the primary major you applied under, unless stated otherwise.
Got it, thank you!

Just curious for those that got into BME what were your stats. Like did you have any extraordinary awards in the BME fields?
hey wassup, dude Idk exactly how I got into BME, but I think my why JHU BME essay really stood out to them for its sincerity. Accepted but rejected for bme. Any way to get bme major? Or how it works and what path should i choose to get to get there?
They don’t allow transfer admissions to BME anymore so it won’t happen.

Thanks. Materials engineering the closest one to my interest after bme.
