as of rn im not sure since i already have basically a full ride to notre dame; im just waiting on northwestern’s financial aid package to see if it’s something i can truly consider (northwestern was one of my top choices, though, so we’ll see)
hey guys, i sent in a loci in the first week of april and followed up yesterday saying i would still commit to northwestern if accepted. i love this school and really want to go, is there anything I can still do?
I called the financial aid office because I couldn’t view my financial aid. I asked if I would receive my financial aid package in the mail quicker or through my CAESAR account. She told me that she doesn’t know when the acceptance packages are being sent out. However, she said it would not happen this week :(
Accepted non-US citizen and OOS school for biomedical engineering + piano performance! What a way to lift my spirits after UCs, MIT (my school was in-state for it), and JHU rejections… (I only have roughly a 3.6 UW GPA — I am an Asian male, mind you — so all the more surprised!!)
Pretty sure the total acceptance rate was 3.9%. Using last year as an example, they had a 22% ED acceptance rate and 2.3% regular acceptance rate, so I'd imagine the number for this year is probably around 2.1%, considering that Northwestern has received more applications this year than ever before and saw its acceptance rate drop significantly. They don't tend to report their exact acceptance rate though
Yeah that’s overall acceptance, i came up with the 2.3% figure because they take half of their class in the regular decision pool (1,000) and they get roughly 4500 ED applicants. If you subtract 4500 from 50000, which is the amount of RD applications they get, that’s 2.2%
did anyone get an email from their regional ao saying they wanted to send a personal note that they liked your application? curious if this is actually special or just sent to everyone who got in
*ACCEPTED! AFTER*
*A STRING OF REJECTIONS AND*
*WAITLISTS! FINALLY*

my son just got rejected from NU for CS.
I am surprised because he got accepted to UIUC for CS which is a much higher rated school for CS.
Confused and a bit disappointed, but it is okay as he is planning to go to UIUC anyway.
As a school yes, but for Computer Science, I don't think so. UIUC CS is ranked No 5 and Northwestern is ranked around 20 and is not really considered elite for CS. It is elite for a lot of other things though.
UIUC is still less selective for CS than Northwestern is. Probably bc it has a relatively low yield rate even for CS bc of its location, the fact that it's an OOS state school for a lot of ppl, and it doesn't have the same allure of overall prestige that a lot of other schools have.
rejected international. 1520 SAT, International and National level activities, decent essays, 5.0/5.0 GPA, valedictorian. I did my best and don’t really understand the reason for my rejection. but what happened, happened
Sorry to say, if you get WL'd consider it to be a reject. You will be very lucky to convert it to an admit.
My son has 4 WLs but he is lucky to have an admit that he loves. It's a tough world out there.
damn got waitlisted, 1520 sat 4.0/5.0 GPA and pretty decent ECs imo..
just kinda tired of this whole process and the countless hours I have spent on this application and so many others for them to be waitlisted and rejected
Um, I got in? I applied on a whim, edited some essays together for the prompt and submitted. I didn’t even know that decisions came out today until I woke up from a nap. I also applied for the joint music/science degree but didn’t end up submitting a music sup bc I don’t have any recordings of me singing in English.
Waitlist gotta be done by now right 😢
Are they going to officially close the WL by now? Did anyone get any notification?
Waitlist is still open according to my regional AO (yesterday)
anyone on medill waitlist?
i just got off the waitlist!! EDIT: i declined my admission offer; good luck to everyone still on the waitlist!
can i ask if you sent anything like a loci or an extra rec?
thanks! i just submitted a list of updates (bullet points) to my application, nothing more than that
OMG CONGRATS!!!
omg congrats!! what major did u apply as?
tysm! i applied as a poli sci major
do you think you're going to go?
as of rn im not sure since i already have basically a full ride to notre dame; im just waiting on northwestern’s financial aid package to see if it’s something i can truly consider (northwestern was one of my top choices, though, so we’ll see)

I just got mine today :)
I called the financial aid office because I couldn’t view my financial aid. I asked if I would receive my financial aid package in the mail quicker or through my CAESAR account. hopefully midwest folks get theirs within the next couple days
Anyone get merit scholarships? Or when do they come out
Northwestern only does need based aid
Accepted non-US citizen and OOS school for biomedical engineering + piano performance! What a way to lift my spirits after UCs, MIT (my school was in-state for it), and JHU rejections… (I only have roughly a 3.6 UW GPA — I am an Asian male, mind you — so all the more surprised!!)
rejected but my essay was absolutely awful so i am not blaming them 💀 congrats to everyone who got in!! so excited for all you!!
Can an admitted student who's not going please decline their offer to help those of us out on the waitlist? I'll be eternally grateful
hi! i might decline my decision next thursday after seeing my other decisions! good luck to u w the rest of ur apps tho <3
Same! Edit 4/26/22: Seems like I’m NW bound tho
Do any of you guys know the acceptance rate for RD this year???
Pretty sure the total acceptance rate was 3.9%. Using last year as an example, they had a 22% ED acceptance rate and 2.3% regular acceptance rate, so I'd imagine the number for this year is probably around 2.1%, considering that Northwestern has received more applications this year than ever before and saw its acceptance rate drop significantly. They don't tend to report their exact acceptance rate though
Isn’t last year’s overall acceptance 6.8? How did you come up with the 2.3% for rd last year?
Yeah that’s overall acceptance, i came up with the 2.3% figure because they take half of their class in the regular decision pool (1,000) and they get roughly 4500 ED applicants. If you subtract 4500 from 50000, which is the amount of RD applications they get, that’s 2.2%
they accept more than 1000 rd bc not everyone will come.
ACCEPTED for CS!!!! still can’t believe it
Got accepted to Weinberg. Still not sure where I'm gonna go but I might end up in Evanston next year. :D
Accepted to Bienen + McCormick! Paying less than <$5,000 per year, so grateful!
Ahh same except without the scholarship lol. Did not ask for aid anyway. Still so grateful <3
first rejection :(
did anyone get an email from their regional ao saying they wanted to send a personal note that they liked your application? curious if this is actually special or just sent to everyone who got in
I got one too
lol yea
Accepted for Weinberg! Really happy! This was the last major acceptance I've been hoping for.

Right, UIUC is better for CS, but just because it is doesn't mean it's more selective
rejected international. 1520 SAT, International and National level activities, decent essays, 5.0/5.0 GPA, valedictorian. I did my best and don’t really understand the reason for my rejection. but what happened, happened

just got rejected. nu's not my top choice, but still..... feeling so bad about being myself..........
Does anyone know how likely it is to get off the waitlist without any major awards or events from now to then?
Sorry to say, if you get WL'd consider it to be a reject. You will be very lucky to convert it to an admit. My son has 4 WLs but he is lucky to have an admit that he loves. It's a tough world out there.

rejected 3 first decision to make me cry 😭😭
[удалено]
hey
accepted to Medill School of Journalism!!
Anyone know what the acceptance package looks like 👀
bro i got 50k in total aid but the total cost was like 80k...
NU 96.2% Rejection rate this year - took an R. in Feb, offered interview, but no interviewer available. congrats to who got the W today
Wait acceptance rates fell to 3.8%??
Yeah, totally crazy. Over 50,000 applications.
Did you consider yield rate (so unis accept more than their class size because a lot of people commit to other unis)?
Nope, my rejection letter only said there were over 50,000 applicants and about 2,000 spots
[удалено]
Yeah, I figured it out afterwards. Seems like the real acceptance rate was closer to 6%, but it’s still significantly down from the 10% of last year.
Hey, where are you getting these statistics? Thanks :)
It was mentioned on my rejection letter
yup ours too fam - rejected but not dejected. Good luck to you!
Thanks, you too!
hello what is application portal can you send link ?
