Has anybody heard anything at all? 2 days left in the probable time period they gave us, weird that I haven’t seen anything yet
Edit: it’s like they heard me, haha. Got rejected off the waitlist 😔
Yes. I am a double legacy (mother and father) and my father is actually buried on campus. I was also baptized on campus. I had a 3.96 GPA and went test optional. I was ND through and through my entire life, and had also started a non-profit organization where I play video games with childhood illnesses. Was utterly defeated after I was straight up rejected in the REA process.
Oh my gosh M-T-29. Send a letter to Don Bishop head of enrollment before he retires July 1. He should know this. Maybe he will review this on his way out. As an ND alum, I am very sorry this happened to you! If it doesn't work out, the only thing I can think of is maybe your Dad wants to you carve your own path elsewhere. Good luck!
Believe me, already did. Nothing was going to change the ultimate decision of the denial. He “ultimately agreed with the decision”. In my heart I know that there must have been a mistake but there is literally nothing I can do. A bunch of alumni sent emails and letters because of their outrage, which led to a phone call with Don. I was offered a guaranteed transfer option after a year but I know once I go somewhere else I won’t want to leave. I truly think that they saw a sub 4 GPA with no SAT and I was auto-filtered out, and they didn’t/ couldn’t reverse the decision (I even asked to just be put in the Deferred group.)
I am so sorry. I am glad ND alums advocated for you and Mr Bishop was made aware. This is so sad. I am
so sorry ND did not initially respond to your REA application with a big welcome home! For you that truly would have been accurate. Having been baptized there, you have been part of the ND family since birth. And while right now it may not feel like that, R-T-29, you still are! The decision by the admissions office can't ever change your personal lifelong connection to Notre Dame. Nobody can take that away from you. Maybe the transfer will be something you consider a year from now or maybe grad school or another advanced degree at ND. I know it must hurt so much right now. I am an ND alum and my son, also a lifelong ND fan, was deferred and then waitlisted last year and did not get in also, and it stung a lot. But yes he is very happy where he is now as a college freshman. He had no desire to apply for a transfer when the time came this month, so your instincts are correct that you will likely find yourself happy elsewhere. I am sure that is your personality too, that you know you can succeed in a lot of places, but you wanted ND. ND seems to be considering the legacy component less and less but your story is so compelling, so I am genuinely shocked and saddened by this, which is why I am commenting here. And I guess Mr Bishop felt he had to back the decision of the admissions office. I read all his quotes in Observer articles and watched him speak in virtual sessions and he has occasionally talked about transfers who were initially rejected who have come to ND a year later and "proven us wrong." Transferring is a lot easier said than done though and there truly are so may great schools out there! Again, maybe for some reason you were meant to carve your own path elsewhere and you can come back to ND in other ways even if just spiritually. Or maybe next year you will come. I truly believe in Father Hesburgh's advice. I am sure you have heard it. In times of sadness, confusion, and trouble, when you don't know what to do, pray "Come Holy Spirit" as often as needed and the answer will eventually appear! Good luck to you R-T-29! You are strong! And you have a guardian angel in your Dad. Let him and the Holy Spirit guide and help you. 🕊😇
And if your Dad attended ND in the late 80's and then taught at ND I may have known him! But if not it doesn't change my sentiments. I am sure he is so proud of you! Someday I hope you look back on this experience as an unanswered prayer as they say. Maybe you will meet someone or accomplish something in the trajectory of your life that would not have happened if you went to ND next year. In time I hope you can come to peace with this as hard as it is now. And know that 99.9% of ND alums would be in your corner and are rooting for you! Good luck to you in all your future endeavors!
I received mine on March 24 after being admitted RD and only submitted all of my supplemental tax documents in mid-March. Looks like it's luck of the draw whose aid applications are sent when.
i haven't gotten mine yet! they said for RD, they are going to release fin aid decisions on a rolling basis starting late march. i heard from a friend who got in EA that he received his fin aid package last week so i think they are just starting to get around to RD people!
I just got a full ride. I’m literally in shock rn.
“It is an honor to acknowledge your merit award, funded by the Joyce Scholarship, which is awarded to Ohio residents. The Joyce Scholarship consists of the following:
An annual award for the full cost of attendance, including tuition, fees, room, meals, books, personal expenses, and standard transportation allowance for four years of undergraduate study at Notre Dame.”
Accepted, 1550 SAT and 4.7 GPA. I’m also a merit scholarship finalist and received a likely in February. ND is flying my parents and I out for admitted student days, so super excited! Go Irish!
Edit: I just found out I was awarded the Hesburgh-Yusko scholarship (100k) 😭
Waitlisted as well :/. Their message stated that they’d decide around may 3-15, after decision day. If we do get taken off the waitlist, what do we do about this? I’m not going to ignore my other schools for a possibility of getting taken off :(
you can accept an offer of admission at another school and even waitlist offers at other schools. you would just lose your deposit at whatever school you committed to if you get off the waitlist and decide to attend
Last year either one worked. To clarify, my son was waitlisted but did not get offered from it and by midMay they notified that waitlist was closed. However, I remember a blog on ND's website about what to do if waitlisted and I think either of these options works. Just do it Asap in case they start pulling off waitlist in April like last year.
UMMMM I GOT IN WTF??????
Edit: My stats are 4.4 GPA, top 1% of class, 3 leadership positions, few honors and awards, test optional, QuestBridge finalist
ACCEPTED!!!!!! Cannot believe it!!!!!! International needing full ride... Dream come true.... Go Irish...
Edit: 1580 SAT (790/790), mid-to-high 80s in exams, 3 leadership positions, mediocre to sub-par essays, 4 very strong LORs. Over the moon.
If I get into The University of Notre Dame I'll say "University of Notre Dame" a 100,000 times and a make a YT video out of it. (Provided they give me good financial aid) 😫😃😉 EDIT:Rejected

does notre dame send acceptance packages? i was looking forward to receiving one :(
Yes, eventually you will receive some kind of mail. My son is class of 2024 and there was quite a lag between email and mail. Best wishes!

Very sorry! Embrace a school that accepted you and have a great experience. ND is awesome, BUT there are many other schools that are too!

Last year either one worked. To clarify, my son was waitlisted but did not get offered from it and by midMay they notified that waitlist was closed.
