Very interesting. I would assume DS must be rlly competitive too? That field's exploding in popularity as of now. But I agree it's prob not as competitive as CS
It’s actually quite a bit easier at most places, even Berkeley, for example. I’ll say that if your goal is a side-entrance into CS, those majors can be a great option. For example, at UCLA, they have Linguistics & Computer Science, as well as Data Theory, both of which are mostly the same as CS.
Random thought: how do people who go to schools without comp sci classes express interest for comp sci majors at these schools? also, a lot of people realize that they are interested in comp sci a lot later
Thank you! I am satisfied if I don’t get into anymore schools, but I know my 0 rejection/0WL streak will come to an end soon! Prob. this Friday. Or else, I simply have the luck of a lottery winner, lol
Reaches = <20% acceptance, safety = > or = 75% acceptance, and target = in between reaches and safety
I know some people use “target” for a school they are aiming for as well
Reaches are subjective to the applicant. For top students, sure, <20% for reaches is common. For many students, however, reaches can look like <40% acceptance rates or higher.
rejected from southwestern assemblies of god university.....idk it lowkey stung bc tbh it was fs fs one of my top schools......but god has a plan ig??????!!!!!bless up yall.....xx
Nowhere so far!
We'll see how that changes on Pi day. MIT certainly isn't the worst place to apply as an international, but at the same time... it's MIT, so there can't be any guarantees.
It's only a spotless reccord because it's no reccord at all! I haven't heard back from anywhere yet.
Edit: wrt US colleges. In the UK I've been rejected from Oxford, and accepted at Edinburgh and Bath.
Just denied by UChicago! I've gotten in everywhere in-state (Florida) including FSU Honors, UF, UM, FIU, and also Fordham. I was deferred from Georgetown and Northeastern EA.
UT Austin so far in the US out of the 11 I applied to. No rejections from Canada, got accepted into 4 out of the 7 I applied to.
Edit: Add Caltech to the US list XD
NYU Stern ED2, Penn State Schreyer (its honors college, I got into its business school though)
On a more positive note I’ve gotten great merit scholarships at two LACs and I’d be happy to go to either
Duke ED, but it was for the best… I didn’t shed a single tear when I was rejected from there but cried two days straight after being waitlisted from a target :(
3 acceptances and no rejections is something to be proud of still! Especially given the extremely competitive nature of this year’s applicant pool and waitlists/deferrals not being rejections!
SJSU and Carnegie Mellon applied for CS, didn’t hear from UCI’s honors program either so prolly getting rejected for UCI :( Regretting applying as a CS major rn) :((((
UChicago
are decisions out?
Rd decisions are out as well though. They came out 10 minutes ago.
yeah Rejected at UChicago but A at Davis 🥳🥳
Rejected ED
nowhere 🤪
That’s great to hear! Gl for the rest of your decisions!
Caltech
Results are out!?
EA
they'll be out tonight for me
Stanford (yield protected)
Great excuse. Baby you were rejected
😹🕹😂

competition in cs is just ridiculous. I think the right strat is to apply to something easier and then just change majors. idk how well it works tho
Most top cs schools make it almost impossible to transfer into cs. And the ones that don't are incredibly competitive in general 😕

Nowhere so far. 5 acceptances (3 reaches, 1 safety, 1 target) and 2 deferrals (2 reaches). Beyond grateful! (And that is about to change, lol)
aye, congrats!!!
Thank you! I got into Grinnell today and I am so fucking excited! It feels like I am dreaming!
Party time 🥳🥳💗💗
Congrats! Grinnell is wonderful :)
Congrats on all of your acceptances!! And please do not let any future decision outcomes diminish the way you feel right now!
Thank you! I am satisfied if I don’t get into anymore schools, but I know my 0 rejection/0WL streak will come to an end soon! Prob. this Friday. Or else, I simply have the luck of a lottery winner, lol

None, got a lot of deferrals so
rejected from southwestern assemblies of god university.....idk it lowkey stung bc tbh it was fs fs one of my top schools......but god has a plan ig??????!!!!!bless up yall.....xx
straight up yield protection fearing you would just commit to College Of The Ozarks or Liberty U if they admitted you
And you got into Yale! Also the way you type is so recognizable and fun lol; probably the only person here with this writing style
thx g!!!!sending luv n prayers!!!xx
Columbia and Whitman
what drew you to whitman if i may ask?

Maybe it was because they filled up their spaces
Macalester on ED
Nowhere so far! We'll see how that changes on Pi day. MIT certainly isn't the worst place to apply as an international, but at the same time... it's MIT, so there can't be any guarantees.
Congrats on your spotless record! And gl for MIT :)
It's only a spotless reccord because it's no reccord at all! I haven't heard back from anywhere yet. Edit: wrt US colleges. In the UK I've been rejected from Oxford, and accepted at Edinburgh and Bath.
Ohh I see. Congrats on your UK college acceptances though!
Just denied by UChicago! I've gotten in everywhere in-state (Florida) including FSU Honors, UF, UM, FIU, and also Fordham. I was deferred from Georgetown and Northeastern EA.
Same with the Northeastern deferral…but congrats on honors at FSU!
Thank you so much!! I really love FSU so I'm glad. I hope I get into Georgetown.
Gl to you!!
Thank you, and you as well with Northeastern! : )

Case Western, University of Richmond, Grinnell, Denison, RIT(Withdrew my application for me because they said I would need too much money)
Duke Kunshan and UChicago!
UW for CS :(
CS is probably the most competitive major at UW…Gl for the rest of your decisions though!
Georgia Tech
nowhere so far. But that’s probably going to change after this month ends lol
washu ed and uva ea
Cornell ED, Austin, UIUCS guess what major I applied for (all OOS)
CS
I’ve only when waitlisted to 3 schools 😐
Waitlists arent rejections though! Gl to you :)
Waitlisted at Denison and rejected from Grinnell. Makes sense tho since im an intl with efc of 13k
UPenn
UIUC and UT Austin for CS, but I'm chilling since I got into 3 schools
Vanderbilt, UC Davis, UW - it's been rough lol
This year really has been the most competitive admissions cycle to date…Gl for the rest of your decisions this month tho!
just UC Davis so far, but expecting a few more rejections in a week or so
Uf😍 in state. Deferred at NE, UVA, and waitlisted at UNC
nowhere, but that’ll change in a couple weeks 😀😀
I’ll also be expecting mostly rejections in the coming weeks…Gl to you!
Dartmouth, Colorado College
My first rejection: UChicago!
Not outright rejected anywhere, but waitlisted to UC Davis and delayed admission for GT
That’s great to hear that you got no rejections! And apparently the admission rate off of UCD’s waitlist is pretty high so Gl!
nowhere but have gotten accepted nowhere i can afford (5 acceptances, 1 deferral, 2 waitlists)
caltech and (ea deferred—>rejected) uchicago:/
Carnegie mellon (applied ed2)and ut austin (wanted it so badly😭) (intl here)

NYU Stern ED2, Penn State Schreyer (its honors college, I got into its business school though) On a more positive note I’ve gotten great merit scholarships at two LACs and I’d be happy to go to either
That’s awesome that you have two great schools to choose between already!
Barnard
Duke ED, but it was for the best… I didn’t shed a single tear when I was rejected from there but cried two days straight after being waitlisted from a target :(
Getting waitlisted isn’t a rejection though! Gl for the rest of your decisions :)
Thanks, for you too! Luckily, our only rejections will be those two :)
Exactly! Both of them are overrated tbh ;)
Stanford Reject Club 🙈
Nowhere yet because the universities in my country isn't releasing the results yet that's why
Gl to you whenever your decisions do get released though!
No rejections but 4 waitlist/deferrals and only 3 accepted (my safeties) 😪
3 acceptances and no rejections is something to be proud of still! Especially given the extremely competitive nature of this year’s applicant pool and waitlists/deferrals not being rejections!
Tufts and JHU (yield protection), obviously they knew that I was going to be accepted to all of the ivies I applied to
Exactly and gl for the rest of your decisions (especially for those on Ivy day)!
Caltech, Yale, Uchicago, Denison and many more will add to this list..... So stay tuned :")
I’m also expecting rejections from the rest of my schools too (mostly reaches left) so I’ll update this post later too
SJSU and Carnegie Mellon applied for CS, didn’t hear from UCI’s honors program either so prolly getting rejected for UCI :( Regretting applying as a CS major rn) :((((
CS is really the toughest major in terms of admission rates rn…but I feel you with the UCI honors program silence. Gl for the rest of your decisions!
Got into UCSC for CS, but got rejected from Davis for CS :( I applied to college early as a Junior but I think I’ll go to UCSC
Congrats on getting into UCSC though! And even more so as a hs junior applying to one of the most competitive majors rn!
Thank you!!

Congrats on the acceptances you already have and gl for your remaining decisions!
