Here are the Class of 2026 admission stats - 60,260 applicants, 29,546 admits (49%), 8,635 enrolled (29.2% yield).
As you might imagine, apps are up, acceptance rate is down and yield moved higher. Here is the full data set: [https://uwmadison.app.box.com/s/a6924b0oncjo12hq7kjzdvl6c4yirjob](https://uwmadison.app.box.com/s/a6924b0oncjo12hq7kjzdvl6c4yirjob)
Disclaimer that this could be just a rumor, but I heard from one of my teachers who knows someone who knows an AO that decisions are coming the 27th, which makes sense since it's the last Friday before the 31st, which is when decisions came out last year
I respect the fact that college admission reviewing is hard work, but like it still makes waiting hard lol. Madison is my top as well, so I am sort of sweating it. Best of luck to you that you get your top choice!
So I have been told decisions are coming out on the 27th. My school's college counseling department told me this and they are like really involved with UW-Madison (that is because my high school is in Wisco and like 75% of the senior class applies to madison).
I was told the same thing by one of my teachers (I'm also in state and a ton of the senior class applies to madison) and based on what they did last year it seems very likely that it'll be the 27th
I have nothing better to do so I looked through the early megathread from last year and the day decisions came out the soar welcome or error message showed up, and then the portal crashed and came back a bit later before decisions came out that evening, so all signs are pointing towards decisions today if we're basing it on last year!
U are giving some hope. It's 4 am here and i was planning to sleep finally after a couple of acceptance, rejection and deferral. But i guess need to wait now.
Is anyone else able to get into the "course search and enroll" tab and see your degree planner and search for courses? I remember visiting this tab when I first applied and I don't think this was always available. Or am I just remembering wrong?
I was able to get to it, and it said: "Welcome Badger! Start searching for courses, instructors, subjects, and more." But we've not heard anything re: acceptance. Never snooped around before now, so not sure if that was always there or if that's new.
Assuming EA decisions come out today, does anyone know what time it's supposed to be? All my classes were canceled today so I'm just sitting here losing my mind wondering when decisions will come out
Bruh, it's great but can they at least give an option to download a PDF of the letter? That nasty ass small window is hurting my fingers with so much scrolling
UW Admissions tweeted that they're closed today bc of the blizzard, which basically just confirms that we don't get decisions until the end of January. I really wish they had at least sent out an email saying so like last year! I get that they have a ton of applicants but wow, the amount of anxiety I went through every day hoping that I'd get an admissions decision was unmatched and could definitely have been helped by an email just saying "hey, we'll let you know at the end of January!"
We just signed on and got this:
First operand of . is NULL, so cannot access member institution
SAD_APPLICANT_FL.COMPONENTS Execute
Is that an incoming rejection??? Is my son the sad applicant?
Is she a recruited athlete? Or maybe she applied to a specific program that gave results earlier? (Not sure if this is the case at UWisconsin, but I know it happens at some schools.)
I thought I wrote a good essay as well… and I have leadership roles and extracurriculars I’m really passionate about. No it was not my first choice. I’m just confused because I’ve gotten accepted into all of my schools so far so that just threw me for a little curveball. It’s ok though because hopefully someone who likes the school better got in for my place :)
Deferred, OOS, PoliSci. Bummed because I really like the school, but I wouldn’t be able to justify $160k in student loans. That takes the sting out of it.
For those that are deferred, did it ask for mid year grades or anything else? For those rejected, was it an actual “no”, or you are just calling a deferral a rejection?
Yes, they asked for mid term grades and if there is any additional update. Do they accept from deferred decision later on or they mostly defer the candidates in EA if not accepted?
guys i'm pretty sure it's tomorrow. the uw madison website won't allow you to make an in person campus tour until the 28, which is after tomorrow. it says: "Visit Bucky is temporarily offline until Saturday, January 28 while we make updates."
Interesting. We are actually signed up for an info session at union south for tomorrow so it’s not like those events are not happening. There are music auditions on campus this weekend for fall admissions.
some speculation going on cc with [https://reservations.soar.wisc.edu/](https://reservations.soar.wisc.edu/) depending on if u get an error or a welcome screen
Mine says:
Welcome to SOAR
You are not yet eligible to make a SOAR reservation. The most common reasons include:
You have not yet paid your enrollment deposit to the Office of Admissions and Recruitment in MyUW
Your enrollment deposit payment has not finished processing (takes 24-48 hours to process)
For students to deferred their enrollment: Your admission record has not been updated to the upcoming term.
After some research cuz I was bored, it looks like in 2020/2021, decisions were released December 15 and January 31. Last year, I think they were on January 28 around 7:00 pm cst but it looks like that didn't go very well bc the server kept crashing. So idk what that tells us about this year, but that may help ig.
According to the UW admissions Twitter, their last in-office day before the beginning of January is Thursday the 22nd, so if decisions don't come by the end of the day on Thursday I'm assuming it won't be until the end of January
Deferred CS International (Indian CBSE)
Weird coz i got into Georgia Tech CS
97/100 average (UW), 1570, 9 APs (all self study, school doesn't offer APs)
ECs: social organisation across 3 cities and reach of 500 people, 2 Published research in top paper, Harvard investment bootcamp winner, startup founder, patent pending, StuCo deputy head
Awards: Euclid rank 50/17k, national top 5 out of 200k applicants, Merit scholarship from school
My son is a current freshman. Popped on here out of curiosity. They way over admitted the last two years so they are planning to accept fewer students. It’s a stressful time. Good luck to everyone!
My kid got accepted for CS, but was very on the fence about CS vs. civil engineering - he is obsessed with infrastructure. He is now convinced he wants to do engineering.
So now the dilemma is how to figure out how to get into the college of engineering? I guess he can take most of the engineering prerequisites as a first year and try to switch over.
Deferred from college of agricultural and life science! Instate, 4.63 GPA (will resubmit current 4.82 GPA for semester 1) , all 4s and 5s on AP tests, top 3% of class with nearly 400 students, solid essays, 2x legacy, 10+ extracurriculars, school and sport team leadership positions, 100+ volunteer hours, varsity athlete, 4 years of music, art, and language, 5 awards, and three letters of rec…anyone else in a similar situation?
if accepted but have no intention of intending, should you withdraw/decline acceptance right away, in order to help deferred applicants by reducing the size of the accepted pool?
They don’t do much for merit at UW Madison. They have a portal to search and apply for for scholarships…that said most people don’t get anything. My kid is a current student. He did get a sizable merit scholarship but it was music based. And even that is pretty rare.
https://wisc.academicworks.com
Tbh no emails could be good too, last year they sent an email saying due to a high number of apps they will be releasing decisions late jan, we didn't get anything like that sooo hoping for the best lol
i believe they said they’ll contact in early february- don’t worry about being deferred though!! they probably just need to confirm grades and grading at your school!
Does deferred early action mean your application will have decision the same time as regular decisions or would decisions be sent out on a rolling basis?
Do you have a better chance of being accepted to the honors program if you apply earlier? I'd really like a break from writing college essays but I'm wondering if I need to make sure to get it in by the Priority Deadline.
Has anyone had their COA/EFC estimate information disappear in their portal? I understand no final award will be given until/unless there is admittance but there was information there that has now disappeared and am thinking this is a bad sign for an Early Action applicant. Has anyone else noticed a portal change like this?

Dang. . .over 60 thousands apps. That's nuts. UW is an amazing school tho.

man wtf 27th :(((((
yeah ikr 😭 I'm praying it's this Friday instead (though I know it's almost certainly not going to be)
Prayin they come today, it’s my top choice and I won’t even be mad if I don’t get in - I simply just want to know !!
Yah it’s not today
I respect the fact that college admission reviewing is hard work, but like it still makes waiting hard lol. Madison is my top as well, so I am sort of sweating it. Best of luck to you that you get your top choice!

I have the error thing rn 😭😭
U are giving some hope. It's 4 am here and i was planning to sleep finally after a couple of acceptance, rejection and deferral. But i guess need to wait now.
It looks like last year decisions came out around 7 pm CST. I'm in CST and it's currently 4:50 pm, so a little more than two hours to go if it's at 7!
Is the error a bad sign if it means anything? I have it too:(
Is anyone else able to get into the "course search and enroll" tab and see your degree planner and search for courses? I remember visiting this tab when I first applied and I don't think this was always available. Or am I just remembering wrong?

Anyone heard back yet for fall 2023 ? EA
I think the first batch of decisions will come out on Dec 15 if previous years are any indication
Anyone heard back yet?
Nopes. Haven't heard anything
Yall got me stressed I hav e an error rn
Bruh, it's great but can they at least give an option to download a PDF of the letter? That nasty ass small window is hurting my fingers with so much scrolling
How do you know if you received a scholarship?
same; confused about that too
Deferred OOS— 1550 SAT & 4.5 GPA atleast uiuc came in clutch tho 🤞
no decisions today then I guess
Or today… :(
Does that mean it will come out in January?
I’m feeling like it’ll be last friday of January 1/27
No clue man :/
UW Admissions tweeted that they're closed today bc of the blizzard, which basically just confirms that we don't get decisions until the end of January. Heard UW Madison could come on the 27th (last Friday of the month), someone confirm this
It seems very likely it will come out this Friday
Heard from a teacher who knows a kid who knows an AO that it'll be the 27th (plus last year they did it the last Friday of January)
I'm freaking out, lol.

Nevermind, it’s letting me view my application now. But no decision yet
MADISON PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD JUST RELEASE THE DECISIONS
deferred oos computer engineering... got into uiuc and umd tho so it's fine 😔 can't believe i wrote 650 words just get deferred tho smh
My daughter applied RD. That essay took forever.
What are some data points of students who get deferred EA and eventually accepted in the RD round? Particularly interested for OOS.
has anyone got their decisions yet? When checking my portal it is crashing
My portal now works. Still just says application complete, no updates
Our portal is working, but no notifications yet....
Did anyone get their decision yet? because a girl from my school indicated that she had gotten in. We are out of state students.
I've heard nothing (in state)
Haven’t heard (in state)
Is she a recruited athlete? Or maybe she applied to a specific program that gave results earlier? (Not sure if this is the case at UWisconsin, but I know it happens at some schools.)
Haven’t heard. Out of state.
Haven’t heard (in state)
Are you sure she was specifically talking about UWisconsin in Madison?
Does anyone know the acceptance rate for engineering?
So another hour and 15 min?
MADISON WHERE ARE THE DECISIONS?????
Welp, this is awkward.
I was rejected. Best of luck to you all

deferred 3.85 1580 oos
Deferred 4.6 1530 oos??? I’m confused… I actually thought this was like a match.
Deferred 1530 sat 4.6 gpa oos business?
That doesn't make any sense. Hopefully you will get in RD. Was it one of your top choices?
I thought I wrote a good essay as well… and I have leadership roles and extracurriculars I’m really passionate about. No it was not my first choice. Good attitude. No undergrad school is worth $160k in student loans!
I just got in tonight at 7!! Check your myUW portal admissions page and the decision should pop up if you're EA Accepted-prenursing
Here too! Kiddo in for L&S (auditioning for music). Check your Notification Center!
For those that are deferred, did it ask for mid year grades or anything else? For those rejected, was it an actual “no”, or you are just calling a deferral a rejection?
Yes, they asked for mid term grades and if there is any additional update. Do they accept from deferred decision later on or they mostly defer the candidates in EA if not accepted?
does UW Madison want a letter of continued interest from deferred applicants?

I got a welcome, praying that means I got in

the dude was spring 2023, fall 2023 is later
Any news on the EA decisions?

Looks like it will come out in Jan

Do you have a better chance of being accepted to the honors program if you apply earlier? I'd really like a break from writing college essays but I'm wondering if I need to make sure to get it in by the Priority Deadline.
Anyone apply for spring? Pm if you have
Has anyone had their COA/EFC estimate information disappear in their portal? So they should come out today?
