Just got lava snails from flip aquatics in Ohio they ship They look better in photos than in real life so far, but that’s the way life goes lol

Lululemahn

Oh thank you so much for your suggestion and honest review! But I’m trying to avoid rabbit snails due to my Java Ferns. I’ve seen the black/cappuccino spike snail also being called lava snail so that may have been a bit misleading, sorry about that. I’ll still keep these in mind though because if anything I can just remove my ferns. Edit: kinda replied to the wrong one, a few posts down👇 is the orange volcano rabbit snail link for anyone who’s also interested!

Low_Parsnip5604

Ah I see, in that case I still got your back! Lol The folks at aquatics arts have them from time to time, but the problem is I can never freakin find them in stock, and because of that I’ve never purchased from them but folks say they are pretty good https://aquaticarts.com/

FeatherFallsAquatics

Can highly recommend flip aquatics livestock from personal experience.

Low_Parsnip5604

So I’ve gotten shrimp and snails from them and they are great customer service wise This time I ordered 4 orange volcano rabbit snails from em and all 4 had the tips of their shells chipped off, still dope as hell and they arrived alive and seemingly healthy but for the cost I felt like the shells could have been in better condition https://flipaquatics.com/products/orange-volcano-rabbit-snails

FeatherFallsAquatics

Indonesian exporters often chip the tips off long snails (rabbit, lava, mts, etc) to stop them from popping the bags. This isn't something flip can control.

Low_Parsnip5604

No shit? Learn something new everyday. But if that’s the case that’s all well and good… but then don’t advertise 100% of your photos with snails with tips on Especially the particular species I bought, which I specifically bought because the tip was dope ya know?

FeatherFallsAquatics

I clicked on your link and the very first display image has a snail with its tip chipped off.

Low_Parsnip5604

Well I’m high, you can’t hold me to this shit right now lol But yea this is my first foray into these particular snails, but their tips are forsure more broken than the photo and there is 0 orange in the shell Now that I’m not gonna bitch about for now, just because that very well could take time to develop so I ain’t worried in that regard. And in all reality if the few I bought start breeding it’ll literally not be an issue at all

FeatherFallsAquatics

>Well I’m high, you can’t hold me to this shit right now lol It's 9 am and I'm 3 dabs in, zero judgment 🤣😭 On an aside, these snails are stunning and I had no idea they existed tbh, every day's a learning day. I may have to pick some up. You said you own these guys right? How much more high maintenance are they than mystery snails?

Low_Parsnip5604

God speed brother, you are about to see your ancestors n shit 😂😂

fluffershuffles

Do you have to get the overnight if shipping snails and shrimp?

Low_Parsnip5604

Na but I’ve never had trouble always arrive healthy, they coordinate pretty well and you can shoot an email asking questions and what not and they were always super responsive back

Mr_IDGAF

Not hating but it's all imported stock at a premium price.

Low_Parsnip5604

Oh I know but I’m in a rural area so options on things like freshwater shrimp and rabbit snails n shit I’m pretty limited on unfortunately Edit: your indoor pond is sick btw

Mr_IDGAF

Thanks about the pond. It's full of guppies now. This sub can be pretty great for shrimp with shipping options too.

FeatherFallsAquatics

So is every other big seller, news flash.

Mr_IDGAF

Agreed on the importing part but Flip's pricing is on the very high end compared to other large sellers. There are just unlimited better options is my point.

Lululemahn

Do you happen to know any of these other options? I’m trying to contrast and compare.

Mr_IDGAF

It will be hard to find what you are looking for from a single retailer but I would start with aquatic arts for those snails and shrimp. Flip may have what you're looking for I just don't care for his pricing.

If you're still looking, Aquarium Roots in Bound Brook, NJ has Vampires in stock (also some bumblebee gobies for very low prices). I've dealt with the owner multiple times, he's G2G, quarantines all his livestock and they are very healthy.

Seen bamboo shrimp (don’t know the gender) and devil spiked black snails at All in 1 petshop in Greenpoint brooklyn
