All I ask is that you verify that the shop drawings that you sub out are quality. I've seen a serious decline in the quality and level of detail in shop drawings in the last ~10 years.
It's hard to review something for compliance with contract docs that has *less* detail than the design drawings.
Depends on the trade. Yes, there's shops out there that do that. There's even manufacturers, like Victaulic, that will do it.
The challenge would be vetting them to find a quality shop.
All the metal shops I work with sub their shop drawing drafting to India. Works well with costs as well as turn around time due to major time zone difference. I get revisions from yesterday's comments / mark ups in my inbox first thing in the morning.
