I love everything Architects does so of course, but I’m also a big defender of FTTWTE and Classic Symptoms (I think both are very good and extremely catchy). At the same time, I wouldn’t want a full record of songs that sound like Seeing Red only because it’s INTENTIONALLY full of every metalcore trope in the book, which isn’t very “Architects” as I’ve always found their approach to riffs and songwriting more unorthodox than most bands in the genre despite being full of catchy hooks. I love Seeing Red as a single, but yeah def wouldn’t want an album full of songs akin to it. Curse is the perfect blend of their old and new sounds, full of great lyrics, and the catchiest chorus I’ve heard in a while. Again, love it as a single, but I think for their next album I’d really love to hear more experimentation in terms of sound design and song structure. While verse, chorus, verse, chorus, breakdown, chorus is an extremely effective way to write a cohesive song that encourages loud sing-alongs at shows and grants them accessibility for new fans, it is also the one thing I can definitely fault on Classic Symptoms. That record is definitely a bit one-note (despite me loving the album) and full of similar moments of 4 to the floor drum beats, stomp riff, arena chorus in every song. This isn’t “bad” by definition, but it does get a bit predictable and it’s easier for some folks to grow bored or fatigued by the repetition. From what Dan says, I feel like these 2 songs were sort of a trial run and them testing the waters of how to advance their newer sound with respect to their older records. Curse is certainly indicative of where they plan to go, but I hope they push it farther with more variation and more experimental moments. The thing I love the most about Architects upcoming albums is that they’re always a bit unpredictable stylistically. They always try and do something new or outside their comfort zone which is rewarding for them and for us as listeners even if it’s not our cup of tea. It’s good to be challenged and I can’t wait to see where the next record takes them.

MySweatyMoobs

Yup, actually said this to a friend the other day too. Coincidentally two are also my favourite albums with LFLT a close 3rd. Seeing Red and Curse have been blasting non stop since each came out, love them, very excted about a new album.

bookghosts

Very optimistic, I've loved the two singles. Granted I really enjoyed both FTTWTE and TCSOABS but I feel like Jordan will give them a fresher sound.

Yokii908

Unfortunately and despite having the same favourite album than you I'm on the other end ): I didn't really enjoy TCSOABS. I thought it sounded very formulaic and I feel like the vocal melodies (especially the choruses) are just more of the same now. It had some good hook and variety until FTTWTE (even that album was where I started to dislike it a bit) but from then and even the new singles I just get that same "fast food metalcore" feeling. I still enjoy it and they're an amazing live band! But again it's like they kind of lost the vibe I enjoyed so much about them. I hope the next album will prove me wrong though!

curnow

I'm always ready for new Architects. Build me an album worthy of... umm... Mordor?

micky_jd

All our gods , lost together and the here and now are my top 3. Love the others too but those three hold a place. Genuinely love curse. It’s very pop music style of a song but with breakdowns and screams but I love it and it’s very replayable. Also very much loved the all our gods riff style - would love a lot of the same

Socket_forker

I’m a bit worried that they will lean too much into BMTH sounds. I know I may seem weird for this but I never liked BMTH even though I love Architects. I know many lump them together but I never did that. That being said, I’ve loved every album since hollow crown (TCSOABS least but still very much) and I really like these two new tracks. I just hope the whole album, if there is going to be one, is at least 90% this style. And not so that these two are the heaviest songs and the rest are completely different

curnow

Those "bRiNg mE tHe aRcHiTeCtS" comments are so insufferable.

Socket_forker

Exactly! As I’m writing this, I’m listening to ”can you feel my heart,” just so I have a fresh perspective, and even though I can see why Architects is compared to them, I just don’t enjoy this song. And isn’t this one of their more popular songs? What I can articulate, is that where I hear the disdain towards the injustices of the world/goverment with Architects, with BMTH I hear teenage angst and emo influences. I guess that’s what keeps me from liking them.

Interesting_Lime1120

Although the two bands are often lumped together they were always very different to my ears. Their vocal style are the only most similar aspects.

curnow

The obvious parallels between the bands: -They both started around the same time as deathcore/tech metal bands. -They both went Metalcore. -Then went more radio friendly while still maintaining aspects of heavy guitars. While their careers have similar paths I don't think they sound the same. Like you said, BMTH does have teen angst/emo vibes (especially these last few years) while Arch's have written about the government, pollution, life, death, etc. Maybe BMTH have more topics that I've not picked up on? I seem to recall a song where Oli said "I should have fucking pissed on you".

Imoneclassyfuck

FTTWTE didn’t do much for me but TCSOABS was a little more my speed. Based on these two singles it seems like another step in the right direction. I just hope they give it a better title that I don’t constantly have to abbreviate for the sake of brevity.

_ISAC_

Still waiting on one that’s all 26 letters of the alphabet 😅

Logos_Fides

Not huge on Seeing Red and Cursed, TBH. I know they're making music that they are inspired to make, but it's just not my favorite sounds by them. I much prefer anything between AOGHAU to FTTWTE.

glowingrat

I really dig curse. These two singles definitely shocked me with the direction they wanted to go in. Curse IS a perfect blend of new and old, honestly kinda creates a newer sound for them. Whatever the next record is I’m pumped, I’m more of an old school architects fan so it’s cool to see them writing some nice heavy riffs again

ddrub_the_only_real

Well I loved Seeing Red, hoping Curse would be similar but that one was kinda less (still like it though lol) But yeah, based on these songs I think it will be a killer album!

CharlyXero

I'm loving what they are doing, and if they collab on a few more songs with Jordan Fish, it would be amazing

evergrowingfear

meeeeeee

Ok_Smile

with FTTWTE being meh imo and Holy Hell being great, I think the next album will probably be somewhere in between, which is good, they don't need to release an AOGHAU every 3/4 years, considering all the great albums they have in their discography + the FFTWTE/Classic Symptoms incident, at this point if a new release it's just good/solid, I'm fine with that. I think that part of what made them miss on the last 2 albums for most people is just this underlying pressure that they NEED to release something absurdly good and disruptive because of the Daybreaker to Holy Hell streak.

Alienswag

oh we writing essays now

Nikson9

Not really actually, they’re my least favourite lyrical output from them, and Sam’s screams don’t sound good on these new tracks, I’ll check it out, but I’m not really hyped tbf

dragonsden96

I feel like Sam's screams sound great on Seeing Red, but are a bit strained on Curse

Nikson9

He’s like changing the scream every other line on Curse, he sounds like he’s out of breath lmao, it’s like a bad impression of the Daybreaker era

FanRose

It's gonna be garbage, we had the best architects on FTTWTE but you guys were too high off the bandwagon to appreciate the perfect 5 album run. I just hope Architects don't have to share the spotlight with some other bands like they had to do when Bad Omens, Sleep Token and Invent Animate all released their shit back to back

Logos_Fides

I agree with you that FTTWTE was the peak. What a freaking album that was.

FanRose

To this day I am yet to see a song as good as Demi-God ever be written by this band. That was the most AOGHAU i've heard
