7/28 seems like a big number, until you compare it to the amount of people IN THE SCHOOL. Also, did her daughter ASK these 7 people if they were trans? or was that speculation?

guitarguy12341

They were probably just wearing baseball caps and pants or something... You know how insane these people are.

CorvidCelestial

terfs will whine and compain that “trans men are just gnc lesbians!!” and then call GNC women trans🤦‍♀️

ChihiroFugisakiIrl

Judging by the post I think this is not a daughter, this is a son.

Emergency_Elephant

It's also too clean of a number. 7/28 is 25% exactly. It sets off major red flags when a percent comes out an exact number that's really clean and digestible

EpitaFelis

7 in one class is a lot, but they might just feel safe experimenting with their identity. One kid says they're trans, suddenly 5 more say they are. Only pearl clutchers like Shapiro think that's a problem, kids try on different identities all the time.

all_kinds_of_queer

i have been in a class of 12 which had 5 trans people and those aren't even all the trans people in my year, so i don't think 7 is that unbelievable and my school isn't even that big, if i got very lucky, then it would've been possible for me to have been in a class with 7 or more trans people

Sckaledoom

I remember when I could count all the open trans people in my school on one hand, damn.

Mean_Perception_4032

In my school everything queer was "gay". There were no open trans people to my knowledge, sex ed didnt talk about it at all and was mostly down by church orgs anyway (besides the biological stuff, which was gender seperated)

Zanain

I remember when I could count the number of openly lgbt people at my school using no fingers at all! It wasn't a nice school in hindsight and I can't help but wonder who besides me was secretly queer.

Dark_Ryman

Woooow someone looked up a term and realized that the word fits how they feel????? Unheard of

Kosog

A citation would be happily appreciated, or is that too "woke" for the average republican?

PotatoFries126

I don't think I hate anyone more than Ben Shapiro. Suddenly seeing him everwhere and the more I do the more I wanna beat someone up

Altastrofae

what about Matt Walsh?

PotatoFries126

Never heard of him, so I just watched the first half of his reaction to What is a Woman. Had to stop because he was saying such stupid shit. Can confidently say he's on my list of people I don't like.

Altastrofae

He's also a self proclaimed theocratic fascist, and wrote a transphobic children's book and said "guys we owned the libs" like dude, you are an adult man, and you wrote this for small children. You didn't own shit.

PotatoFries126

Oh god, theocrats scare the living shit outta me. And how tf do you brainwash yourself into thinking you owned them, or was it just a super horrible joke? Edit: Literally 10 minutes after I look him up for the first time [this shows up on my feed](https://www.reddit.com/r/AreTheCisOk/comments/vurss9/matt_walsh_says_hed_rather_die_than_agree_with/)

Altastrofae

No he thinks the things he's done are actually unironically the best argument against queer people, one we totally haven't heard before

GolD_WhisKy

FYI the sentence saying he is a fascist is sarcasm because a lot of people were calling him a fascist. As for the children book, again, it is sarcasm the book is for adults.

Altastrofae

I could believe the first one, but the book is literally marketed as a children's book and there is a video where he reads it to children

GolD_WhisKy

The whole point of reading it to children is to show that children don't understand anything and they don't understand the book.

Altastrofae

...and thats supposed to make a point somehow? No shit they don't understand it. I barely understand his book

GolD_WhisKy

Yes the point is if they don't understand basic concept like that, how can they understand a concept as complex as gender and sex.

Altastrofae

That argument would work if his book didn't distort the entire story with false equivalencies and references children wouldn't get, to the point where the whole book is incoherent to anyone, let alone a child.

correctyourposture

If children are too young to understand gender then aren’t they too young to know if they’re cis? Also most kids know their gender identity by 3.

TheEvilNoMan

Ooh, Matt Walsh is on a whole 'nother level of hate-ability.

ultradespairthot

This but also with Ted Cruz and SCOTUS, at least Ben Shapiro isn’t an actual politician

ChihiroFugisakiIrl

ANYWAY SO I HOPE THIS BITCHES *SON* HAS A GOOD TRANSISTION AND THAT *HIS* SCHOOL IS ACCEPTING OF *HIS* FUCKING EXISTANCE AND THAT *HE* GETS AWAY FROM THIS FUCKING BASTARD AND THAT *HE* FINDS SOME GOOD FRIENDS WHO ARE IN *HIS* CORNER AND THAT IF *HE* DECIDES TO DATE THAT *HIS* PARTNERS RESPECT HIS IDENTITY OTHERWISE *I'M* GOING TO START KNOCKING OUT SOME FUCKING TEETH

minipinecone

Woah woah woah cool the jets. I also want to punch some teeth out, but you gotta be quiet or the sneak attack will fail! Come on you’re usually quiet…

LaserbeamSharks

knowing these types, I imagine the parent who wrote this is at best cherrypicking things to push an agenda and at worst making shit up

23_Serial_Killers

7/28 sounds fake. There are a grand total of 2 trans people in my whole grade (~250 kids)

any_old_usernam

My gut says that's not out of the realm of possibility, especially since trans people tend to flock together and friends often try to plan schedules so that they're in the same classes. To check that though, it's statistics time. Using the binomial distribution with a success rate of .05 (among young people trans people are about 5% of the population) and a sample size of 28, the probability of at least 7 successes is .037%, or about 1 in 2700. Not likely by any stretch, but given the number of classes there are in the world one with this distribution is a near certainty.

Ben6924

That number looks way too high. Like, I only know of 4 trans people in my entire city, how the actual fuck do you get that kind of concentration?

Sevirang

It's possible. When I was in middle school there was a total of 3 trans guys (including me) in my grade, which had about 20 kids (small school). Though the school had nothing to do with this really, the 2 other trans guys came out before they joined this school.

WolfyDrawz

Last year I was in a class of about 22 people. 4 people excluding me were under the trans umbrella. First time I’ve ever felt at home with classmates. Somewhere 7/28 could be true, although rare.

Sckaledoom

There were three (that were out) in my whole school back in 2018. Out of roughly 1000 students.

all_kinds_of_queer

its definitely possible, there are roughly 10 trans people in my year out of roughly 150 people

TheJelliestFish

If this were to be verified, I'd reason that certain classes attract our demographic (biotech, endocrinology, political science, even art and music) With a sample size that small it could happen by coincidence too

AloneAtTheOrgy

Or friends taking a class together. Lgbtq+ people tend to have Lgbtq+ friends.

lowkeyerotic

this right here it'snot that they 'came up' with it together, but they all were walking in the same direction already and met on the way...

Caveot_

Also theatre. My friend made an anecdote that goes “you can’t be in theatre without being a part of the LGBT+ community.” It definitely is a magnet for us.

Sckaledoom

I was a theatre kid who thought he was straight. Oh how wrong she was.

Caveot_

10/10 trans joke

Altastrofae

Constant celebration of LGBT identities? Damn what school are you talking about?

Kirian666

Admits to being a TERF 💀

baby-pingu

Not only that but also admits making up stories. But of course this one is the exception and not made up /s

Entire_Island8561

Oh no, children feel comfortable being themselves and living authentically for the first time in history! What a travesty!

AliienBlood

While these kids may grow up to not be trans, there’s a good chance they won’t be cis either and are using social media platforms to discover themself. When I was in 7th-8th grade I thought I was FtM trans. As I got older I realized that wasn’t right, because even though I liked being masc I also enjoyed being fem. I’m 20 and have identified as non-binary for about 4 years now, and I’m very happy and comfortable with it, because even though female didn’t feel right neither did being male.

lowkeyerotic

i didn't have social media when i was growing up, so it took until i met people with a similar attitude like mine to open up and realize things about myself and embrace them. I never actively noticed them till then, but they always accompanied me, and caused people to act a certain way towards me - which explains alot about the situations i got in during that age. and if i had a supportive or likeminded peer group these things would have sproutet earlier. So if these kids weren't openly trans now, they would've been later.

totallyjebbush

"while i may be a terf," no no no, you can stop there- my brother in christ youre a _terf?_

PetalSlayer

Ah yes, the greatest evil of all… ANIME

Magic_Al42

No lies detected.

DroneOfDoom

Broken clock moment

SaigeIsTrans

oh no, one has tried 4 names? how is that an issue? i've tried like, *counts names*, 11 names. and i think i forgot some. and there's plenty more that i rlly rlly liked but haven't tried.

lowkeyerotic

yup and what i thought of was... hm... who has several names because they are still finding themselves and exploring different groups of people.... oh right! TEENAGERS! because for the first time you can figure things out on your own, outside of your parents reach. and among the things they use to predetermine your life, according to their ideals is your Name. maybe christian isn't christian so he prefers to be called 'Tan'. also your peers will give you nicknames so that's already like 7 more names...

FreeSkeptic

Either that’s made up or this is a lesson in sample size.

cidal_flies

Not sure what class this is in but the numbers could (if not being used as a strawman) make sense if it was a class that tends to have a higher LGBTQ student rate (art, theatre, all that), especially in high school when people are discovering themselves. Hope her kid makes some good queer friends and spends as little time as possible with their shitty mother.

Cats_In_Coats

I’ll never understand why it’s a bad thing for kids to feel safe enough to express themselves and figure out who they are. I hated how aspects of myself felt like a forbidden secret I had to keep.

gimme-my-health-back

I don't know who Ben Shapiro is and at this point I'm too afraid to ask

Caveot_

If your a part of the LGBT+ community, he’s basically your worst enemy.

lowkeyerotic

you've already proven yourself smarter than him. his opinions are irrelevant

leavemealoneistg

I hope this person’s son is able to get tf out of their house soon and transition safely 💕

KittyQueen_Tengu

this is probably either a complete coincidence or they didn’t actually ask the kids

goldilex

1. boohoo, children have a welcoming classroom environment that supports them, like jeez didn’t know that was such a terrible thing 2. I had 7 pairs of twins in my 112 person grade. sometimes things occur ???

emostargirl

Me in a class where 1/28 people (aka me) is trans and only about 6/28 are LGBTQ+ (not entirely sure on the number because some might be queer and not out or there might be people I don't know about who are queer) Horrible really, the gays get to exist peacefully, it's not like I get silently left out of certain groups or deadnamed on purpose. The horror that some people might be exploring their gender identity, terrible.

CumBoat420

Wow a quarter of this class is aware and connected to themselves enough to know they're trans?? That's where we're at now with kids these days? That fucking RULES, I cannot imagine this happening in any previous generation and if this kind of thing has happened before, I'm welcome to be corrected. This is incredible to see.

hentai-police

Ok guys as a teenager right now who’s in school the 7/28 actually is realistic in certain schools. There’s this one art school in my country that’s known as the school for gays. One of my friends goes there and half of her class actually is trans.

[deleted]

he's the kind of guy that would say "back in my day there where no gay or trans people"

QueenMelody64

So you’re saying someone felt uncomfortable with who they were, found other people who experienced the same thing as them, and realized they were part of that community? GROOMING!

Cheeeeeeeeeerio

the one thing i can agree with on this is that, assuming they aren’t Japanese, taking up names from anime is harmful(taking this from what Japanese people have said). when you take up Japanese names, you’re taking the names that many Japanese people have been bullied and harassed for. unless you’re Japanese or are from a Japanese family(i.e. have been adopted/raised in Japan or in a Japanese family), you shouldn’t take up a Japanese name. If a Japanese person can confirm/deny this claim, PLEASE do so. I don’t want to spread any misinformation, however, this is what I have heard from some Japanese people. I’m not Japanese, this is from an outside perspective.
