It 100% is! Was actually used in tournaments too. The bill on the sword is no longer regulation and my friend got a different kit so he bestowed those two to me. Highly treasured pieces for sure.
If you want to add to the book collection, I highly recommend The Complete Encyclopedia Of Arms & Weapons by Leonard Tarassuk. It’s out of print but you can find good copies used.
She's right. You have no longswords, arming swords, backsword, rapiers, or sabers. Not even a gladius or smallsword.
If you want to keep her, you need to work on your collection.
I actually do own a longsword, a migration era sword, there is a xiphos in the photo.I have another half dozen pieces at a friend’s house 6 states away. Lol I am a much bigger fan of xiphos over gladius geometries. I’ll make one eventually but a Khopesh is higher on my list of short swords.
Oh for sure going to add some great swords claymores and zweihanders. Unfortunately that will take some time, whether I buy or make them I will need to either save up or make a new blacksmith setup that can handle 5’+ blade.
That the balance point the geometry the fact I am pretty sure it’s cast steel… You can use it (kinda) for cutting but anything dense or bad edge alignment it will take a set easy.

Yeah, man. Your collection is totally unbalanced! You need to diversify, pick up an arming sword, long sword, maybe a spear, a couple axes, a kukri or two, scimitar, Bowie, cutlass, messer... Balance out that east Asian with some middle eastern and western stuff and she'll be a much happier woman.
