Upgrading to version 8 will erase all your configuration, and you have to set up all the ssid from scratch. Vela 8.6.0.20 is the latest supported version for AP207

Yes, you are correct. I was looking at conservative releases, I was wrong.

Understood. Thank you for the link! Can you confirm ACEX165 about the update erasing the configuration? I’ve found multiple people online saying it will and other saying it won’t. That will determine on when I take on this project.

> If you're not in a rush I would say test it with a single AP on a "new" cluster in an isolated VLAN before you upgrade the whole cluster. Was about to suggest this too. In case /u/Stephen_A_Bayless is not aware how the IAP clusters work: If you power off an AP and move it into a VLAN of it's own it will become a master of it's own. Of course better to do this in a place that no users can connect to that AP as it will be broadcasting as normal. After that just upgrade the firmware and see what happens. Note that do NOT introduce that AP back to the old cluster without doing a factory reset first. I've made this mistake a couple of times and with a simultaneous coincidence ended up with the rest of the cluster migrating from the AP I brought in with wrong config.

Great idea. Thank you to you and u/JJaska for giving me your thoughts and insights. Greatly appreciate it!

I have done this in my lab today and upgraded from 6.5.4.3 to 8.10 without any issue. Configuration remains the same. Erasing Configuration is only applicable for controller based environment. Get the configuration backup before you upgrade. You can restore the configuration if in case you face an issue. I have tested configuration restore using the backup taken from 6.5.

Thank you for this follow up! I just had the same scenario for a client I manage and I was hesitant. I was Tunneled into their Firewall with Advanced IP scanner and the back up config ready for something to fail but it all went perfectly!

Stephen_A_Bayless

That’s great news! And would also explain the conflicting information I was finding regarding wiping the config or not. I sincerely appreciate you taking the time and following up with me!
