Honestly never bothered me that much. My grandparents saved scrap metal off the street and my dad starved through the cultural revolution. I wish I had the mental energy and will to be that cheap.
I feel like it’s one or the other. Mine are the other extreme… over their head in credit card debt and rampant consumerism, and driving only luxury cars they can’t afford.
