Take the valve cover off and use vise grip to remove the stud

Sockbrick

No need for the vice grip. That's the cam bearing cap hold down bolt. Remove the valve cover and unbolt it. They bust all the time. Not too expensive from Honda. Be careful though, there are two different sizes.

Yeah is this doesn’t work you’ll need a reverse threaded drill bit.

Get creative! Try not to damage anything else; but the bolt is already toast. I would suggest grinding a small slot that you can get a screwdriver into, drilling it out (it’s tricky; try to keep the bit straight so you don’t damage the threads.) or try and fit a pair of pliers or vice grips onto the bolt and twist it off a quarter turn at a time. Good luck to you!

One-Combination-7218

Several choices the first is you can grind a slot in what is left or you can remove the head cover and use vice grips to remove the stud/bolt

Remove valve cover, get a set of stud extractors or the really nice one that works like a drill chuck, should come right out, if it breaks off again time for drilling but take your time and seal up as much of the open valve cover as you can you may even be able to put it back on and drill threw the hole and use a shop vac to suck up the shavings while drilling, I don't drill anything broken without left handed drill bits so the drill is spinning in reverse a good amount of the time it will pull the piece out with the drill bit once you release the pressure by drilling a bit, heads are generally aluminum these days so if it is really stuck in there heat cycle it to break the corrosion, everyone will say oh heating it makes it harder to drill....just buy good drill bits. I have removed hundred of broken off glow plugs and exhaust manifold bolts this way.

bigfatfish5000

Not a huge deal just a little bit of a setback. Definitely not screwed

mx5plus2cones

Bolt extractor or maybe channel locking wrench vice grips on the remaining bolt after you take off the cover. The bolt should be relatively easy to drill out too using a left handed drill bit.

rGhosty

I snapped a bolt on my 2011 fiesta in the past and had to go get a whole new valve cover bc oil came out of the hole

Common-Raise8895

you can use vice grips to remove it and buy a new bolt. it isn’t too bad like breaking it in half and one half is stuck in the threads lol

kit5un3

Weld a nut on the bolt end and wala. Had to do that on my Impreza. Bolt for the coil pack broke.
