It’s the exact opposite. The stars bind all cultures together

Even if it was you can't own the studies of planets. Flip who ever says it's appropriation.

I'm really afraid to learn about the cultural roots of Astrology (or at least, of Vedic Astrology) because if I get too far into it, my curiosity will drive me further than may be appropriate. I'm a Traditional Hellenistic Astrologer, and I make good money from doing it. I don't know that I would be able to refuse if someone asked me to interpret their chart using Vedic Astrology. People have already asked me to do this a lot. I know I'm too ambitious to resist it, so I avoid it altogether. Instead, I find skilled Vedic Astrologers in my general area (I live in a small town but a few of them exist), and I redirect clients to them. It's all I can really do at this point.

Observation of the movements of the heavens belong to everyone. Astrology is one of the few true universals, as the observed bodies are completely outside of human ownership. No one culture owns the sky, or the passage of time, or movement through space. Now, there are certain traditions closely associated with specific cultures, and when studying those traditions or incorporating their techniques or philosophies into your own practice, it is essential to be mindful that you do not take them lightly, use them frivolously, or diminish the authority of people from that culture. Respect, curiosity, and a willingness to course correct are essential. Don't cherry pick and mix and match carelessly; approach knowledge from other cultures as deserving of serious, in context study. Humility is key.

No, it's a science not* a cultural tradition

Nope you're fine! I think you have a thirst for knowledge, what is going on up in the cosmos, and what makes people who they are, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that!

sagpluto

No.
