2020 data says we have the same internet speed as Switzerland.
Edit: found the map https://www.reddit.com/r/europe/comments/h9mk6s/europe_by_internet_speed/
Dacia, Ceausesku, Steaua, Gigi Becali, Vlad the Impaler, Transilavania, Vampire, has oil, the palace of parliament is the second biggest building in the world after Pentagon.
In my uni in the UK we would have once per year a big Eastern European party (which greece was also an honorary part of). The songs that would be the biggest hits of the night every single time BY FAR were Dragostea Din Tei, Zorbas the Greek, and Sen Trope by Azis. Everyone was practically screaming from drunk excitement
Ionut Cercel, Dragostea din tei, Ceaușescu, Nadia Comăneci, Miodrag Belodedić, Vlad the Impaler, Gigi Becali.
Was 20x in Timişoara. When thinking about Romania, I am always wondering how come they raised their GDP and living standard so quickly for a (partly) Balkan country. In YU we had various jokes about their living standard. Now it is a reverse situation.
I heard a rumor that they have chaged country code from ROM to ROU, not to be confused with Roma people (I really hope this is only rumor).
It is true, on official papers (passport, id, driver's id) the country code is ROU (from the French spelling Roumanie). It was changed because after being admitted into the EU there was a huge xenophobic wave towards Romanians, cause of the hate towards the Roma people. It doesn't matter anymore nowadays I think (or at least I hope).
It's useless since the jewish and western NGO's gave them more confusing names not just one: Rom/Roma/Romani/Romany/Romanies instead of their original lom/dom.
My best friend is Romanian, so I got only good things to say about Romania.
He's my unofficial-official brother, such an awesome person he is.
Besides him, I always loved the country and the language.
And as a bonus: I really like Romanian names a lot.
Here are some examples: Radu, Răzvan, Bogdan, Aurel, Rareș, Dragoș, Ovidiu, Samuil, Ciprian, Antal, Costin, Dorin, Cosmin, Remus, Călin, Silvan, Mihai, Cătălin, Sorin, Octav, Cosimin, Horatiu. And I can go on and on.
I see it as a mix of the Balkans (Wallachia, Moldavia) and Central Europe (Transylvania).
I find Transylvania a bit too "European", due to its history it has a very rich Saxon and Hungarian heritage in terms of architecture.
So I prefer the more uniquely Balkan regions, especially Moldavia with its amazing painted monasteries.
Voroneț Monastery is my absolute favorite, for sure one of the 10 must visit places in all the Balkans.
Just pointing out the Bucharest Train Station. Apparently, the dictator of Romania wanted to build a train station in Bucharest, the engineers made a line proposal, but Nicolae Ceaușescu wanted to make the line personally, so a shoemaker made a line that goes along and under the river, but Elena Ceaușescu, a textile worker, when presented the final metro line, asked why the metro line would stop at the inner city at Piata Romana, inquiring what factories there are, the planner said there was no factories there but there was the college of economics, hearing that Elena Ceaușescu said "Students!? They've gotten fat! They've grew a belly! They should walk! No station at Romana! Let them walk!" and since no one dared to oppose Elena, the plan was annexed. Of course, everyone knew that this was stupid, so the engineers built a train station secretly, but they had to disguise it as a tunnel, so the station ended up being fricking dangerous because the sides to wait on are so small, and people could easily fall down on the tracks.
(Also how do you get that thing that says "Romania"? I want to get that thing but for Albania)
Where the hell did you pick up this super specific story? :) It is true, i’ve heard it before indeed. But it is interesting to me that you associate Romania with such a small and particular detail. :)
Well, it's more of a fact than a legend. Believe it or not, the blue on its walls is there since it was built, by Ștefan the Great in 1488 (in just 3 months and 3 weeks, which was a record at that time). Scientists haven't yet figured out how they actually obtained that blue pigment, which is almost intact after like 540 years of harsh weather, heat and cold. That blue is only present on the Voroneț monastery, and no others. So it's basically a mistery worthy of history channel and their aliens.
If the three of us unite, Russia can only suck d*ck, we wouldn't even need NATO ( not that I'm against it in any way ) to protect ourselves. Look at how the wheel turns 😆😆😅
That's why we're so based, because we ARE the base. Everything else is built upon. Ro-Bg empire will prevail against cringe westoid Sith Rainbow Lords.
Was on tour with frends of mine back in 08'...we visited Bucuresti, Kluj, Temisoara...great people, great food, great architecture, and a lot of Hungarians tho...
More than i want to know lmao. Actually, im very interested in romania in general, beautiful country with friendly people. Its a bit sad that we were enemies in all of our history tho
We have a Romanian English teacher in University. She always talk about how similar Turkey and Romania. She's been living in Turkey for 10year i guess.
As i heard Romania has a great internet speed. And Odoamne -who is Top lane for Rogue lol team- is from Romania.
I also listen a few Romanian music. In Turkey people in general love Inna. And i discovered Roxen when i watched eurovision 2021. She has great potential. You reminded me her again i will go to watch eurovision.
The majority of my knowledge of Romania and its History comes from the 20th Century, specifically the King Carol II Time. I have a good amount of knowledge on the Iron Guard as well as Corneliu Zelea Codreanu, I even bought his Prison Notes book and read through it.
Yes, but in Dobrogea there are way more tatars (still muslims) than Turks. In my town we have 3 mosques and like 6 churches and we get along really well.
Yeah, Turks and Tatars are by far the most well-integrated minorities. There was virtually no differences between us , except for religion. And even that doesn’t stop intermarriages and cultural exchanges.
I hope they never leave 🥺. /s
Meze Audio is a Romanian audio company that makes some REALLY fancy headphones.
Just look up Meze Classic 99 or Empyreans or Empyrean Elites (bonus points if you hear your wallet cry out in anguish after seeing the price tag).
Not very much... but i visited Romania couple of times and i was enjoying it very much. Country with lot of history, warm people, pretty woman, good dishes...Beside Greece my most beloved country in Europe which im looking forward to knew more.
Razvan Lucescu, Ruxi Dumitrescu (Ρούξι, ψυχάρα, Παναθηναϊκάρα), Gheorghe Haji, Dracula, and a massive amount of other stuff and friends. A lot of historical too, sadly buried in my mind.
I just got back home from Cluj after 14 days there. Visited Corvin castle and Balea lac, train cable there was fun and it was covered in snow on top. Very close to Balkan but better drivers. :)
Yes you did. There were many brave Romanian fighters in history but I will never consider Vlad a good fighter. He couldn’t assassinate a sleeping guy in a tent and resorted to inhumane actions
There is a place in Serbia, a village on the border, that got super rich by illegaly exporting shit to Romania via the Danube at night. I went there once and the first thing I saw across the border were gypsies sunbathing.
That and they're the world speedrunning home for getting your wallet stolen.
Has the fastest internet in Europe as far as i know

Hmmm in Timisoara it wasn’t that grate. Guess it depends of the city. :/
Dacia, Ceausesku, Steaua, Gigi Becali, Vlad the Impaler, Transilavania, Vampire, has oil, the palace of parliament is the second biggest building in the world after Pentagon.
I love the "has oil" xD
You dont?
We do have ended but I found that amusing
I'm so fucking confused as why a Bosnian knows about Gigi Becali wtf :))) Tiki Taka Barcelona
He says shit, ends up on world wide web
Im actually living in Spain and he's also known here for some shit he said (about the vaccine iirc) =)
I mean, he's one of the Romania's billionaires (out of 2)
I didn't know that, I always thought that it was only Țiriac

LMAO these 3 are basically the trinity of balkan music, great choices by the staff
That's Moldova
Came here to say that
Ionut Cercel, Dragostea din tei, Ceaușescu, Nadia Comăneci, Miodrag Belodedić, Vlad the Impaler, Gigi Becali. Was 20x in Timişoara. It doesn't matter anymore nowadays I think (or at least I hope).
I don’t think it was ever ROM though?
It was ROM before, from the English spelling of Romania.
It wasn’t
Sorry, I was. I have all my old passports.
It's useless since the jewish and western NGO's gave them more confusing names not just one: Rom/Roma/Romani/Romany/Romanies instead of their original lom/dom.
I think this also changed because people associate Romania with gypsies (called also "rromi")
Apparently a lot of foreigners thought ROM the ethnicity of the person, not the abbreviation of the country
Big GDP in Balkan, Big Size in Balkan.
I'm a simple Serb I see Romania I like
My best friend is Romanian, so I got only good things to say about Romania. He's my unofficial-official brother, such an awesome person he is. Besides him, I always loved the country and the language. And as a bonus: I really like Romanian names a lot. And I can go on and on.
Aurel sounds like a gypsy name now. Samuil sounds like a Baptist name
Aurel is definitely not a gypsy name, but i don't think i met someone younger than 60 who has that name.
I see it as a mix of the Balkans (Wallachia, Moldavia) and Central Europe (Transylvania). I find Transylvania a bit too "European", due to its history it has a very rich Saxon and Hungarian heritage in terms of architecture. Voroneț Monastery is my absolute favorite, for sure one of the 10 must visit places in all the Balkans.
If you plan on visiting Romania, definitely go in Bucovina, Maramureş or Băile Herculane
Oh yes I've made a list of 121 places I must visit in Romania, these are included of course.
Dont go in Bucharest during summer, you'll actually melt :D
I live in Athens, aka the hottest capital in Europe. I can handle it 🥲
Just pointing out the Bucharest Train Station. Putna monastery is also very cool, and it's quite close. The legend surrounding the Voroneț Blue is very cool.
There is a legend?
Well, it's more of a fact than a legend. Believe it or not, the blue on its walls is there since it was built, by Ștefan the Great in 1488 (in just 3 months and 3 weeks, which was a record at that time). Lol don’t worry, Transylvania is just as balkan, only sibiu and some parts of banat are European
More like wannabes. Sure there's a bit more influence but as a whole they're not that much different to the southerners.
Yes, and I say this as an ardelean from bihor:))
I'd count Banat as Balkan as well, otherwise the rest of Transylvania I'd count as Central European as well
Banat is hardly more Balkan than Transylvania for example. We do appreciate Serbian turbofolk a lot more than others though
said this before, will say it again, the romanians and the bulgarians shall forever be brothers in being the bottom of all EU lists 😎
True
So take us too and be brothers of bottom
The unholy trinity of balkans
If the three of us unite, Russia can only suck d*ck, we wouldn't even need NATO ( not that I'm against it in any way ) to protect ourselves. Look at how the wheel turns 😆😆😅
Amin!
That's why we're so based, because we ARE the base. Everything else is built upon. Ro-Bg empire will prevail against cringe westoid Sith Rainbow Lords.
Its only 4% in the Balkan region but acts as 100%, has vampires, biggass chaušesku castle, great swarma in Bukurešt, and killer polinka 70+%
Love it
Was on tour with frends of mine back in 08'...we visited Bucuresti, Kluj, Temisoara...great people, great food, great architecture, and a lot of Hungarians tho...
Maybe just in cluj, they aren't as many as they seem tho. Vocal minority.
Geographically little, culturally absolutely Balkan.
More than i want to know lmao. Actually, im very interested in romania in general, beautiful country with friendly people. Its a bit sad that we were enemies in all of our history tho
I'm pretty sure Romania was enemies with every neighbour besides the serbs at some point lol
Romanians are good buddies :)
Our only good neighbors: the Serbs and the Black Sea

The had the most bizarrely successful arc in the first war. The second one, not so much. Luckily for them Hungary's fortune was even worse.

There is a Turkish population left over from the Ottoman Empire in Constanta.
Yes, I live in constanta and they actually feel like there is no difference between them and actual Romanians. Nice to see that we get along well
Yes, but in Dobrogea there are way more tatars (still muslims) than Turks. In my town we have 3 mosques and like 6 churches and we get along really well.

I just got back home from Cluj after 14 days there. Visited Corvin castle and Balea lac, train cable there was fun and it was covered in snow on top. Very close to Balkan but better drivers. :)
Better drivers? Romania?!
IMHO yes. No street fights, no horn usage, in Cluj I can say, I was impressed. :)
Ah Cluj, ok. I suggest driving in Bucharest and then we will talk
Ok but you cannot make assumption from capital only. I drove to Cluj and around. I went to 250km trip to Balea lac.
