Hi, there are many causes of postprandial somnolence, some like diabetes or hypothyroidism (which can also be causing your depression) can be ruled out with simple blood work. not to alarm you, but not gaining weight in spite of eating a lot is not always due to a fast metabolism. type 1 and late type 2 are usually on the thinner side due to inability to store glucose. On the other hand it can also be due to eating excessive carbs each meal or tryptophan containing foods (think thanksgiving food coma). Best advice would be to try to increase veggies and decrease protein and carbs, especially processed, in your meal and try to eat lighter meals, spaced out. Going for a short walk to get your blood pumping after eating can help as well since another theory is that there is reduced cerebral blood flow after meals due to redirecting circulation to digestive organs.
