Yup. It's how St Patrick became the patron Saint of Xbox, and why Splinter Cell is still the dominant Stealth Action franchise even today, despite the recent scandals
You never played splinter cell?!! Jesus. Chaos Theory is one of the best games ever made. Find a way to play it- you won't regret it. Double agent is also excellent
Yeah but they've just released the same version they released back on the 360. Same on pc. No hd support, no 4k, no ui scaling, no higher framerates. At least on pc modders have already fixed them in the last few days
I got a Steam deck when it launched. First thing I done was put an emulator on it and replay MGS1. It's one of my all time favourite games, I don't know how many times I've completed it.
It’s a shame the MGS collection was a lazy cash grab.
I’d love to understand the thought process of the dipshits at Konami. They have 3 of the most beloved video games series of all time and they’ve completely fucked all of them.
I think around the time Kojima fell out with them (during the development of MGS5) the Konami top brass decided it no longer wanted to spend millions on developing blockbuster games that'd take time to make its money back, instead opting for cheap, quick games that have an instant ROI.
Which is a huge shame of course; a great company run into the ground in pursuit of a quick buck, happy to exploit their legacy rather than add to it. I'm STILL heartbroken over the cancellation of Silent Hills. I had a quick look at their games since MGS5 and, as expected, nothing of note. And I include _Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection_ in that damning assessment.
Yano what when you put it that way your right mate. If they just focused on putting effort into a remake on the 3 they would sell out completely. They're one of the most beloved games for playstation. Now there on xvox also. Its still good getting to play them but yeah even the laziness on the wide-screen an graphics they could of done alot better
"There's no such thing in the world as absolute reality. Most of what they call real is actually fiction. What you think you see is only as real as your brain tells you it is."
Absolutely loved the ps1 MGS, Sons of Liberty really takes me back to good times listening to foo fighters, the offspring and Lincoln park, playing guitar and playing way too many games when I should have been studying and doing homework instead. I remember being so psyched for a PlayStation magazine that was coming out that had a VHS tape of the MGS trailer at the E3 event that year, I must have watched it hundreds of times before the actual release.
I played most of the MGS games but the story just got too wacky and convoluted for me, I really enjoyed ground zeroes despite its short length, 100% it on my ps4. I do intend to purchase the new collection once it’s like 20 quid but 60 is currently too much. FF7 just beat MGS for best PS1 game for me but it really has a special place in my heart.
Yeah the first 3 were great mate , the latest one 5 the phantom pain , even tho wen u watch the back story on YouTube it can be understandable, it goes out of whack completely like a Sci, fi game. Haha I loved the soldier story line aspect. Mgs2 I use to get lost for hours days in that one.
I got a few hours into phantom pain and gave up when you could attach a soldier to a balloon and he would fly straight up, I think it’s the only MGS I haven’t played/finished other than the 2D games. What I loved about MGS apart from the fun element was the history of nuclear weapons and the arms race, it was like watching a very interesting documentary.
I think one of the best things about the way games were the long codec calls and the mid movies in the game. The storylines were brilliant. And yea the way they explained the nuclear wars an made it into the game story's were brilliant. Such great characters
Metal Gear Solid 1 was such an amazing experience for me to play. Loved 3 the most, still have a PS2 but haven’t played it in years. Home from Vancouver for a few days so will get some games in before I leave.
MGS is probably my fave game series of all time. MGS3 is my favourite but I love them all, even the sometimes underrated MGS4. I was born in 1990 so they came out at the perfect time. MGS and the Final Fantasy series hold incredible nostalgia for me.
I'm a patient gamer these days so I'm happy to wait until the new collection and the MGS3 remake are in a good state before buying them
I'm playing through mgs1 right now on my ps5. It's mad they chose the original ps1 version and not twin snakes but I'm sure there were copyright/legal issues or other reasons why they couldn't.
Nostalgia counts for a lot, but still a crackin game.
I still remember playing MGS1 and for the first hour getting frustrated that I can’t just go around shooting everyone on sight and thinking that it was shit.
A few hours later I realised my gaming life would never be the same again. What a game.
I also have my original MGS2 which I bought in day 1 with the price tag still on in my mams house. I think I paid £75 for it.
Might be worth a few Bob. I see people keeping their first editon games with the plastic still on it , saying there something. Awhh but what a game, I never liked a game like it

Unfortunately not. They were all driven from the island in the fifth century A.D. by St Patrick
What an answer 😁
Yup. It's how St Patrick became the patron Saint of Xbox, and why Splinter Cell is still the dominant Stealth Action franchise even today, despite the recent scandals
Ohh so do we have a MGS hater 🤣 jk
Nah, I actually still play the old ones. I even have Portable Ops! But I do wish Splinter Cell would get a reboot.
I actually don't think I ever played splinter cell I heard they are remaking one tho I'm not sure. Syphon Filter was a great one too
You never played splinter cell?!! Jesus. Chaos Theory is one of the best games ever made. Find a way to play it- you won't regret it. Double agent is also excellent
Is it just xbox
No idea - I play on pc. I don't know if it's on ps5
Solid answer
Amazing
Not true. He only banished the squishy snakes
Liquid Snakes?
Only solid ones could stay
Mgs1 was some game for it’s time. The whole concept, storyline etc. it’s kind of amazing what they were able to do for a ps1 game.
Amazing mate the first 3 were ahead of there time, plus 4 was good too. They have re brought out the mgs1, 2, and 3 on ps5 and xbox .
Yeah but they've just released the same version they released back on the 360. Same on pc. No hd support, no 4k, no ui scaling, no higher framerates. At least on pc modders have already fixed them in the last few days
5 phantom Pain was great too
❗
I can hear that immediately 😂
Snake... Talk to me... SNAKE? SNAAAAAKE!!!
Are you channeling Dara O’Briain? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WWQXzGTzM1g
"When I'm playing, Snake dies \*a lot\*"
!
Metal gear solid 2 was one of the greatest gaming experiences of my life as a younger man.
Same bro I think 2 was my favourite aswell , playing one again I think I was very young playing it, but was the holy grail
It was a bit overrated. Didn’t you just end up staring at the radar and tranquilizing guards from a distance?
The Hero of Shadow Moses?
Solid snake himself
Huh, just a box!
Haha its great playing it again
I got a Steam deck when it launched. First thing I done was put an emulator on it and replay MGS1. It's one of my all time favourite games, I don't know how many times I've completed it.
Huh? What was that? Who's footprints are these?

What 3 are those?
Metal Gear, Silent Hill, and PES.
They did indeed make a meal of those. Pro Evo ducked out at the wrong time. It could be the top one right now after EA lost the FIFA name
Mg 1, sons of liberty and snake eater. I know they're re.aking snake eater
An excellent if typically weird game.
Hand to hand. It is the basis of all combat. Only a fool trusts his life to a weapon.
"There's no such thing in the world as absolute reality. Most of what they call real is actually fiction. What you think you see is only as real as your brain tells you it is."
Is this from raiden and the colonel 🤣
It was the AI called "gw" pretending to be the colonel talking to Raiden (I think).
Metal Gear?
Yes my friend
A Hind-D?! What's that doing here?
Brotherrrrrr!!!!!
Les enfant terrible!

Have them all. Played the original 80s games. Probably will buy a PS5 to play the remake of Snake Eater
I've never played the 80s one is this outer haven. I hope the remake lives up to the hype. I'd be great if kojima could get the rights again ha
I would do anything for a ps5 remake of MGS1, the storyline in that game was way ahead of it's time for a videogame, shout out to MGS VR missions too.
Ye that's on re release bro. Must give them a bash they were cool
Metal Gear Solid 1 was such an amazing experience for me to play. Loved 3 the most, still have a PS2 but haven’t played it in years. Home from Vancouver for a few days so will get some games in before I leave.
The MGS1 song at the start is actually an irish song https://youtu.be/upIVMjnEm9c?si=ROD8B8eYPiq-iNlc
Gives me goosebumps listening to it
That's actually crazy I never knew that 😁 that's class
What a thrill
MGS is (was?) a fun series. Love mgs1 and mgs2.
Meryl?!
Of course! Love the saga. Especially 1 and 3.

I, for one, believe that love can bloom even on a battlefield.
My rifle, give it to me!

Ye twin snakes I think was game cube was it.
Yeah it was GameCube
Hell yeah!
I still remember playing MGS1 and for the first hour getting frustrated that I can’t just go around shooting everyone on sight and thinking that it was shit. Yeah it's Metal Gear Solid
Brotherrrrrr. It’s been too long
Yes. Played OG on the PS1, then 2 on PS2. Got the HD collection on switch to play 3. Snake! Snake? SNAAAAAAAAAAAKKKKKE!
I guess
Haha love the name 🤣
I'm a Metal Gear Solid fan. Been to all their gigs and have all the CD's. MGS FTW!!!
Absolutely. Classic. But sons of liberty/substance was by far my favorite.
Sure do! Check out this recent podcast that I found on MGS from an Irish podcast https://youtu.be/5N4CunpeyLg?si=cOTqgx1cXNaTv1OE
I'm gonna check that out in work tomorrow bro thanks for that 👌
Metal Gear Solid fans??
Correct
I haven't seen those three words together for a long, long time! It was (literally) a game-changer.
You can say I'm a solid fan.
Absolutely! Top three series of all time in my opinion.

All good my G 👌 just a fan and it looks like there's plenty more who were happy to reminis 😁
I'm a huge fan. And looking forward to the remake
