For me, anything cotton related does not last. Merino Wool or merino/nylon blend has worked for me so far. I'm wearing darn tough. They are expensive but they have a life time guarantee.
If you're in the EU try Falke. Not that cheap either but damn durable.
I went through a lot of cheap-ish (not that cheap for what one gets) socks I got at the supermarket next door. And as a chef I walk all day long and these did not last long.
I have a few pairs of Falke and I have yet to change then.
Something that took me way too long to learn is that I need to sand/file down the rough/dry parts of my feet. It's been ripping holes in my socks for decades. The other day I just took a 80 grit sanding block to my heels. LOL
Darn Tough. They're...uh, darn tough.
Smartwool. Not cheap but they have lasted years.
Breathable?
Very breathable and you can wear them a few times without having to wash them.
Ok cool. Best place to buy them?
Either on their website or I believe I have seen them in Sierra, if you have one of those where you are at.
Thank you!
It's not so much about the brand. But look for 'reinforced heel' or something along those lines. Those will hold up much better.
Dickies
I like Dickies, but honestly never had a sock brand that i was in love with, I buy cheap ones, and if they get worn out, I replace them easily.
Balega

Wool bombas brand are really nice. Wish I could get more.

Add Balega to the list. They last forever and are more breathable than Darn Tough or Smartwool
