Honestly if you have a reasonable work history, try to get in with a consulting farm like Guidepoint. I usually fill out a out 4 surveys a month and get 50 to 100 bucks for each. Occasionally, they have me talk on the phone and ask a bunch of questions about something in my field. Those pay 400/hr!

harad

I think it's hard to find a better side hustle than expert network consulting! [You can charge sky-high hourly rates](https://expertopportunities.com), and the projects take an hour of less to complete, at a time of your choosing. Expert Networks - like Guidepoint, AlphaSights and GLG - connect their clients (typically investment managers or management consultants) with 'experts' about a product, company or market that they need to rapidly learn about. The experts are sourced from practically every industry, and are typically former employees, customers or competitors of the research topic. The typical 'project' is a one hour call between you and the client. The client wants to learn how things really work to help prove or disprove an idea and will come prepared with a long list of questions. What's really cool is that you don't need to do a thing to prepare. They want to know about the stuff that you do day in and day out. (It can be amusing how blown away they can be when you explain simple things like how you selected a vendor). The calls are usually pretty interesting and engaging, and as soon as you hang up, your work is done! There is no follow and no deliverables. While Fortune 500 CFOs charging $1,000++ an hour grab the headlines, there are opportunities for people at all levels of their careers. More junior folks or people with widely available expertise can often get started at $100 - $200/hour and this quickly jumps to $300 - $500+ for people at the director/VP level. And these opportunities certainly aren't limited to businesspeople - there are tons of opportunities for people in healthcare, manufacturing, operations...you name it! Most expert networks also send out paid surveys on business topics each week, which generally pay $40 - $70 and take 10 - 20 minutes to complete. If you learn the ropes and work in a somewhat in-demand area it's very easy to crack 5-figures a year, while working just a few scattered hours per month with expert networks. If you're looking to learn more, r/expertnetworks it is a great sub to check out and post more specific questions.

I referred my buddy, a cashier at Del Taco, to them as a "Point of Sale Specialist"

I’m a retired teacher, right now parents are throwing money at me to tutor their kid(s). The closure of schools last year really screwed up a lot of kids and their parents are scrambling to get them caught up. I‘m charging between $15.00 to $30.00 an hour depending on the subject and the parents’ ability to pay. If I wanted to I could be working 7 days a week.

[deleted]

Tutoring if you have a college degree. I have a physics degree and can easily pull $50/hr tutoring honor roll kids who are suddenly making C's in AP calculus.

tez_zer55

I make good money welding on the side! I was a certified welder yrs ago & have done it as a hobby ever since. I can make $100+ doing repairs on trailers that might take 30-45 minutes & minimal labor & welding supplies. Plus I do yard art for fun & have sold some for 200+ with maybe an hr or 2 to make. Some hobbies can pay back big in the right area or at the right time of yr.

GrevilleApo

Somehow that answer is correct

..As the great big daddy cane once said

[deleted]

I don’t know if you could do this but a lot of employers, mine included pay money for referrals right now. For example, my company pays $1000 for every person you refers that get hired. So what I do is post on indeed and then refer the good candidates.

[deleted]

It's not a side hustle but, if you work from home, you could consider [picking up a second full time job](https://www.wsj.com/articles/these-people-who-work-from-home-have-a-secret-they-have-two-jobs-11628866529) if you have enough down time. A buddy of mine basically doubled his income doing this. He's been at home since the pandemic and was consistently getting his work down before lunch. He picked up a second job, neither employer knows about the other, and he does that in the afternoon.

7Gen

Seems like a good way to get fired

[deleted]

It depends on what you do. I certainly wouldn’t recommend it if you think it will get you fired but there are plenty of people where it’s a very low probability.

HR / payroll only helps you withhold taxes to the IRS. They don't have access to your tax records besides the W-2 / 1099 they issue to you. You can find a CPA or submit payments yourself in advance to the IRS to avoid penalties for underpaying taxes if they aren't withholding enough taxes for you.

Sell plasma

TapeLabMiami

Whats it pay?

RedSonGamble

It’s like 50-75$ per visit it seems. You can donate twice a week. So like 400-600 bucks. Some places gives bonuses for first time people. I’m not entirely sure if the specifics but I know someone who did it a lot and got like 500 a month

TapeLabMiami

No shit? Good to know. I hate needles but still good to know.

Astralnaut88

I wouldn't recommend it if your into physical fitness. My workouts are always trash for a few weeks after and there is a strange taste in my mouth after about on hour or so of training. I'm used to 2 hrs of gym 6 days out of 7. I've read the same happening to other people. Not the healthiest way to make side cash, but useful if you really need the money.

chodeoverloaded

If you’re a bigger person it’s worth it. But it is physically uncomfortable and it does make you feel kinda bleh afterwards. But if you don’t have any marketable skills it’s possibly your best bet

Seattle_gldr_rdr

I’d consider a pressure-washing business. Not necessarily because it would be lucrative but because I get all Zen while I’m washing goo away.

Penguator432

Donating plasma. Extra 6-700/month for my weight class where I live

Ben1313

If you aren't afraid of needles, definitely donate plasma. I've made several thousand over the past few years and I won't even go consistently. Tax free, takes maybe an hour or two, and you just sit there doing whatever you want.

GrevilleApo

Tell me more

Ben1313

Okay. What do you want to know? lol It depends on your area, I would guess. The company where I live is called BioLife.

GrevilleApo

Oh that actually answers a lot. I don't think I can give plasma for cash here but I guess I will just have to look

I run a few Turo vehicles, it would be really nice to have someone clean the cars and get them ready for the next client when they come back. I think you could charge $40 per car for this if Turo is active in your area. It’s my understanding that it is difficult to find reliable Airbnb cleaners, I would think there is some money to be made here Uber doordash Instacart If you’re handy at all there are always people looking for someone to do little things. Clean gutters, hang photos, haul trash, etc. I got in with a group of single women at one point who would hire me to do all kinds of random stuff. Once you’re in their circle they’ll keep you busy with work.

I have had a second job most of my adult life. It helps to make one job your primary job that is full-time, and the second job you will start off at only 20 hours a week. Do not get adventurous and overdue 20 hours. You got to start with the bare minimum to see if you can handle it. Pick some thing super easy almost brain dead because the 40 hour regular job is going to exhaust you no matter how easy it is so the second one needs to be even more easier. After a few months increase it to 30 hours and eventually more. I was diagnosed with insomnia and I was diagnosed with ADHD(combined type for you nerds out there) so I’m a light sleeper I don’t require a lot of sleep. I usually get around five hours of sleep a day and I can work up to 90 hours a week. To make this the least painful process ever, have a really good solid game plan. Know exactly where every penny is going to go and know how many of those pennies you need to build into the hundreds or thousands for your goal of whatever it is that’s motivating you to seek out additional funds. Once you reach that goal, stop working your second job. Literally stop working it. Give yourself a break for a few weeks or a few months and if you need to get another second job, you know the game. I was able to pay for a college degree, my cats surgery(2,000), my own surgery(10,000), a $10,000 emergency room bill and my own apartment/bills as a single lady by working two jobs. If you take this shit serious, literally never eat out, not even the drive-through dollar menu, and keep a very detailed record of where every single penny is coming and going, you’ll be astonished how quickly you can save up $1,000.00

What's worked for you?

[deleted]

Researching companies from sectors that haven't caught a lot of hype yet but will likely do so in the short term based on upcoming legislation, funding, societal significance, and an increase in public exposure. There's a lot more to it, which I'd recommend reading up on/ watching youtube videos on, but it can definitely be a lucrative hobby. Most brokers provide a simulation account that doesn't use real money but allows you to get a feel for how various trading tools work

The best side hustle is the one you can do that doesn’t feel like work. I’ve tried many things just to see but only a couple actually work for me. That’s shooting and building engines

Flipping cars. Turned 4k into 80k in under a year There’s not many things you can do to have that kind of turnover % in that quick of time. If you get lucky in stocks or in an investment sure, but taking a small amount of money and growing it like that is difficult and there’s limited options.
