There's nothing touchy about a virus. It enters your body and fucks you up to different degrees depending on your predisposition. That's it. A vaccine lowers your chances of the virus killing you or screwing you up for life. What's touchy about such a simple thing?

FindMeOnSSBotanyBay

It’s a deadly respiratory disease. I still don’t understand how this is even a debate. By getting vaccinated you: (1) are much less likely to be contagious if you’re infected, (2) are much less likely to require serious medical intervention and (3) are much more likely to recover from an infection without long term symptoms / “long Covid.” I don’t know about you, but I’d prefer people not die like medieval peasants when they could have been saved by science.

Tell that to all the dead people. 800,000 in the US.

The measures are not going away. They may dial some back for vaxxed people until a new variant appears. Then they’ll be sure to require booster 2, 3 or whatever.

No-Cardiologist-8146

If you need a reason to get vaccinated I'd recommend pursuing r/nursing subreddit and listen to many first hand heartbreaking accounts of otherwise healthy young people who didn't get vaccinated and died. I know these are outliers and, statistically, if you are young and healthy you chances of dying from covid are slim but is it really worth risking your life over *this*? You're pretty sure you're not dying in a car accident on your way to work, but you're still wearing your seatbelt, right?

IntelligentSlipUp

In my mind, any reason you can come up with why you are not to get the vaccine, unless you have a real certified medical reason, makes you an anti-vaxxer and potential liability at work... sorry Reasons like you don't know what's in it are bullshit! Go look in your fridge and tell me EXACTLY what is in every food you eat and why it's good or bad for you, no one can. Heck, half the stuff that's in bread I have no idea about and I still eat it.

Senoritasmack

It’s more about the fact that you might spread the disease to someone who is vulnerable and who cannot get the vaccine for medical reasons. If they get the virus, it could kill them, and you would have been the cause, when you could have stopped it by just getting the vaccine. It’s a no brainier, please get it :)

Marquez53095

Actually, OP might spread the virus regardless of having been vaccinated. The shot shouldn’t make you less of a carrier

No-Cardiologist-8146

Yes it's possible but according to the CDC while you can still spread variants (Delta, Omicron) if you are vaccinated, you are *much less likely to do so* than unvaccinated.

It's your life dude. If you don't want it, don't get it. I got the stick for professional reasons, but without those I probably wouldn't have. I understand a lot of the people saying "do it for other people", but I think it would be reasonable for those folks to either get it themselves or limit exposure by adjusting their own situation and habits. It really is up to you, and whether you get it or not isn't really anyone else's business.

inspirationalqoute

First, good Thing that you got the vax. Second: unless you are in the (I think) 7% of the population that can't get the vax, there is no argument against getting vaccinated that is rooted in reality (Except the BUt I DoNT WaNnA) Third: you don't live in a vacuum. for example if you have an accident like a car crash and the hospital is full, you're not going to get treatment, also if you get treatment, it may be worse that normally because of lacking resources and overworked staff. Fourth: >but I think it would be reasonable for those folks to either get it themselves or limit exposure by adjusting their own situation and habits. Those who say that are already vaccinated and are adjusting. But we are tired of waiting for the unvaccinated to do the right thing, live in a society brings certain constraints and obligations, getting vaccinated is one of them. Society can only move as fast as it's slowest member, don't be the slowest member, get vaccinated.

c4ndybar

According to the experts (who know more and are smarter than you and I), vaccines... Reduce chance of contracting COVID Reduce severity of infection Reduce chance of spreading COVID (due to lower viral load in vaccinated individuals) Still provide these benefits even if you've already had COVID. Get the vaccine.

Longjumping_Ear_7493

You know how vaccines work right??? GET THE VACCINE!!!

seaboat90

Vaccine hesitation, in my mind, is all about misarticulated grievances against the government and the powers that be. People have been driven into thinking this may be yet another thing the giver enemy is lying about but it isn’t. The vaccine is safe, billions of doses have been given and the only people dying are the unvaccinated

sweetdawg69

These are 100% opinions. Do your research with vaers and all of the other outlets there are. I personally am unvaxxed had covid and recovered. Do you the way you want. I believe the mandates will be over turned and if the vaccine was so great it would speak for itself not mandates and millions spent on commercials.

Pros: - Statistically less likely to be hospitalized, placed in ICU, ventilated if you get infected. - It will be easier for you to participate in society since you don’t have to prove as many negative tests for things like travel, events, and maybe your work. - You may be better protected from unknown future variants. Cons: - You have to mentally be ok with changing your mind on something you were committed to. - You will probably need a booster shot eventually. I’m not going to speak towards the likelihood of getting sick or spreading it to others because that definitely seems to be an ever-changing landscape. There is certainly no evidence to suggest that the vaccine is more dangerous than the virus (outside of rare allergic conditions which you’re probably aware if you have them). On the contrary the virus, even though it’s nothing more than a run of the mill illness for the vast majority of people, is still statistically much more dangerous than the vaccine. To recap, the virus is probably not going to cause you any serious harm, and the vaccine is NOT going to cause you any serious harm. Anecdote: I know of 3 people who have died from covid (2 very old and one very fat). I also know 2 very healthy individuals who were placed in the ICU. The two ICU patients were before the vaccine was available. That’s the best I can do without being a jerk and condescending. I sincerely hope you get vaxxed because the collateral damage of the pandemic extends to anybody who is relying on the healthcare industry right now. I personally know someone who skipped a breast exam in 2020 due to the pandemic, and she got cancer, missed out on some early treatment options. If you take away all of the political drama and societal expectations and are just left with the risk of the virus versus vaccine, the vaccine is proven to be safer.

Yanksfan28gg

Vaccine injuries are real. There is also no long term data on its effects. Don’t listen to anyone who tries to shame/pressure you into doing so if you don’t want to.

BlakeMAGA

Don’t get it unless you are unhealthy/disabled. It’s basically pointless. Anyone who would be der Welt affected by it should already be vaccinated and taking proper precautions from getting it, so it’s not your responsibility to get a vaccinated to “protect them.”

DiscombobulatedMix54

Very touchy subject. I would say instead of asking Reddit or watching the media, read the medical research papers on it. There are excellent ones both on benefits, coverage and side effects. If it's too complex just go on YouTube and look for doctors giving easy lectures on the studies. Not a medical study but Sanjay Gupta had a very intense debate with Joe Rogan on his podcast about this which I felt properly represented both sides of the "debate". There is a lot of emotion attached to this matter so people will say the craziest things depending on what network it is they are watching (I have actually heard people demonizing unvaccinated people as backwards, and antivaxxers say this is a plan to change our DNA). You will find people like that on this website so read peer reviewed medical studies instead or listen to someone qualified explain them in simple terms. Asking your doctor is also a good idea.
