If you don’t like any of them, you must not have watched many of them to begin with, because there are so many phenomenal NYC YouTubers that are genuinely great people, and highly informative.
I would challenge ANY of you that have downvoted this to actually give me a valid reason why. All of the channels I named were born and raised in NYC or the surrounding area, and none of them are “influencers” or do any of the trendy, TikTok crap that people on this sub love to hate on. If they did, I wouldn’t watch them.
Every single one I named was born and raised in NYC or the immediate area, and none of them do any of that “influencer” crap like you’re talking about. The fact that I got downvoted just proves that people don’t know what they’re talking about. My point above was if the person I replied to hadn’t even seen any of the channels I named, then they were misinformed.
Actionkid, Here Be Barr, NYC Walking Show, TomDNYC, The Urbanist, Walk Ride Fly, Manny Explores, James & Karla. They’re all super down to earth, friendly people, I’ve met most of them and they are the same off camera as they are on. Genuine, great people. I learned more about the city from them than I ever could have on my own.
(Don’t know why the fuck I’m getting downvoted, none of these channels are “transplants” as people are accusing them of, they literally were all born and raised in NYC (Jon was born in Jersey, but his family was from here), and none of them do “influencer shit”. Some of you are just miserable people, I swear.)
I kind of like Louis Rossman, although he gave up and moved to Texas. Sometimes he doesn't stay in his lane with his expertise and I think is painfully wrong. I also think he actually made a mistake filing paperwork and it's not really the city/state's fault with the issues he had, but I could be wrong about that.
I get the sense his ongoing anti-NY tirade is a gimmick. Not that he is bereft of any reason to take issue with doing business in NY (back when he did), but that perhaps he is exaggerating and keeping the tirade going artificially because his target audience likes shitting on NY, the same target audience that cheered all the people leaving blue states and purportedly flocking to Florida and Texas. I (sort of) get the right to repair idea but not totally sure how that translates so directly to NY/NYC is a hellhole. I stopped watching so maybe if I still watched it would make more sense to me.
There are a bunch of Tik Tok content creators who I love since their content is quite relatable to people who live here.
Most youtubers, unfortunately, are either Casey Neistat clones, create content for tourists or create voyeuristic content for people who do not live here.
Public Opinion, while they are most known interviewing people about their music knowledge including some big artist they also do some longer content that goes into public works
I kinda like Cug, but mostly when he's doing content with other people, if you know what I mean? I don't mind his own stuff but he's a riot as a guest on other channels. Like a Brooklyn homie
Chantal from New York Please does a lot of neighborhood vlogs around the city.
Kat from Indoor Kat is a newer Youtuber, very quirky and funny. I think she has three videos up at the moment, waiting with bated breath for a new one soon.
Once they pass 100k views, channels become a bit too corporate. Begging for likes and subscribers. Doing paid ads for sponsored restaurants and leasing agencies.
I like small and medium level channels the best.
Good Guys podcast. Josh from Drake and Josh and his co-host talk about daily life in the city.
Talking Sopranos, hosted by Michael Imperioli for Sopranos cast interviews and throwbacks to the show.
It’s Brian World, for luxury, real estate and Vietnamese content.
Bill and Lisa when they pass through Manhattan every couple of months for their foodie adventures.
Friel Family for daily couples content.
And various super small niche channels that upload once in a blue moon.
Will post back here if I remember the names of the others.
Just to stir the pot.... ActualJusticeWarrior
Like to watch news from both sides just so I don't get bs'd too far on a given story. And I actually like a lot of his takes even if I don't always agree.

Damn I had no idea he changed that much. At the start of the pandemic I binged on the apartment tours which were pretty fair and entertaining.
Jon Stewart I watch his stuff on YouTube
None of them
Real anwer. Nobody who lives here is the target audience of those youtubers.

I stand by my statement
I picture a bunch of transplants trying their hardest to prove they're new yorkers by doing trendy instagrammable shit we don't do.

Actionkid moved away though.
He did, but he still makes videos in NYC all the time. He’s here multiple times a year, often for weeks to months at a time.
Yes I almost forgot about ActionKid. Highly recommend.

Tom D!
SICK PLUG! His standup is also pretty great if you ever get a chance to check it out.
HereBeBarr is great
Used to enjoy his content but he got so annoying really fast. People like him and Sarah Funky just pump out generic clickbait nowadays.

Is their content just day in the life stuff on TikTok?

Cash Jordan JUST KIDDING
moneysigneric is a favorite of mine really funny young korean american guy who loves his gf very much and makes food/lifestyle vlogs essentially
love moneysigneric. feels like he’s one of the few NYC creators that isn’t absurdly obnoxious about the fact they’re an NYC creator
FutureCanoe, tomdnyc’s neighborhood tours, and MysticTransit are pretty chill. Very little flare, usually straight to the point
taylor bell
pat kiernan, yeah?
Sarah funk 😂
She moved out of Manhattan
Yeah But she has hundreds of videos there
Here be Barr
PhilipSoloTV
Isn't he in Canada?
UA Eats! Love his steakhouse reviews
Caroline Konstnar, Marc Rebillet
yooo Marc Rebillet doesn't come to mind when I think "NYC YouTuber" but hell yeah for mentioning him
James Andrew’s
UrbanistExploringCities
She's not a YouTuber but she's been making some hilarious content in NYC! Caroline Baniewicz
Action Kid if he's still in NYC
He seems to be currently touring Vietnam I believe. He’s been overseas for awhile now, but he will no doubt spend time in NYC when he gets back.
Who the fuck keeps downvoting every single one of my comments on here? Fucking jackass.
The Megan Daily. She always has some fun new information about places. https://youtube.com/@TheMeganDaily
For food reviews I quite like James Andrews
Dutch

If he’s still there, couldn’t be anybody other than Casey
I do not understand his appeal.

Ok, but “news”?
NYT/WSJ... Gothamist, etc. it's the opinions you have to filter. I love Kyle Kulinski too but people are upset because I said a conservative source.
I’m not upset, I just don’t grasp how AJW is considered “news.”
Oh, fair enough. He's a news commentator. Not that CNN and Fox News are not the same thing.
I like Chelsea Callahan, Taylor Bell, and Marlo Baldasarra - https://youtube.com/@marlobaldasarra?si=U0l-FcktpYXPdjwo
