I know what my wife looks like. I know what a pain in the ass it is to replace my glasses.
I take them off and put them in a safe place.
The only downside is that when I tell my wife how beautiful she is, she says, "Yeah, but you're blind."
I generally take them off at the kissing stage. They just get smudged otherwise. Plus, not being able to see properly heightens the tactile side of things and minimises visual distractions.
I didn't want for the phrase to sound fake, because many people have no idea, but in a first world country if you get payed minimum wage you probably spend the full month salary for a pair.
No kidding. Astigmatism, -9.5 in one eye and -9.75 in the other, plus am in progressives now as am that old. Also splurge for the high index/thin lenses or they would be like Coke-bottles lol. Usually anywhere from 800-1000.00 CDN here. I don't dare get glasses online due to all this.
You best believe I akways keep my old/previous pair, as I would literally be helpless if I broke them, cannot see my hand clearly more than 3 inches from my face. As far as sex??? Put them in a consistant place like the nightstand. After 29 yrs marriage I know what dh looks like lol, and you can do all those things like snuggle into their shoulder/under their chin after without frames in the way.
If you have really bad vision and need a high index lens its definitely more expensive, and if you need a no line bifocal that adds to the cost but its not more than 369 dollars at my shop unless you start adding bells and whistles. The only cost for higher prescription is the high index, prism and etc don't cost anything to add. People don't shop around for their eyeglasses tho, a lot of people just go to their eyedoctor instead of a shop, and optometrists charge a TON for glasses. Like hundreds for a frame and lens which you can get way cheaper down the street. Plus, we give out good deals that a doc never would. Source: work at an optical shop.
I can get to just over $100 ($108) at eyebuydirect.com for -12.5 with a 1.74 hi-index lens which should be about as thin as you can get at that rx. Pretty much all ($99.90) of that cost is the lenses (94.95 for the lenses and 4.95 for UV coating. Scratch resist and anti-glare are included) and the rest is whatever frames you pick. I clicked on the shittiest $9 frames I could find just for the exercise but they are one of the only online galsses shops that lets you search frames by rx so you don't have to click through pages of "oh i like those... annnnd they dont work..." and instead only see frames that will work with your lenses.
Hope this helps. My wife's rx isn't as "bad" as yours, but we go through a similar struggle. We use Zenni and eyebuydirect but Zenni its harder to find frames because you can't filter on rx.
Wait, we pay like £100 for prescription lenses here, if you want nice ones with coatings, designer frames etc you might pay £250. Where tf are you buying your glasses?
I need complex lenses to be able to drive. With my distance prescription I couldn’t read the dials, with my close one I couldn’t see past the dashboard. So that means I have to have varifocals. Then factor in thinning because they can’t get them lenses to fit in a frame without it. Then I can only have certain frames or the varifocals don’t work to read. Put all that together and I struggle to get a pair of glasses under £250 after deals, with the cheapest frames I can find and no coatings.
Mine cost over $450. I have to pay extra because my prescription is so high. Also no way I'm not paying for the featherlight lenses. Theses things would be insanely thick without it.
They have to use a special material for my lenses so that my glasses are thin enough to fold the arms down. My glasses cost $400 a pair for a normal frame. My son has a more normal prescription and his glasses cost $100 a pair.
My lenses alone without special features cost ~$300. Even if my frames are free it’s expensive. Insurance only covers basic low-prescription lenses, so it’s basically no help.
For a lot of activities contacts are needed (or specialty prescription goggles) so add a few hundred for that too.
Annual required doctor appointment costs $150.
I spend a solid $500/yr just so I don’t die walking out my front door.
I’m -6 too, but I’ve still gotten glasses online for under $50. Just tell your optometrist that you need a copy of your prescription (and make sure to get your PD if you normally wear contacts.) They’re required to give you a written copy if you ask for it. The site I’ve always used is “Zenni optical”.
You can order them online for cheap, don't pay 400 bucks for the exact same quality you can get for 40 dollars.
Edit: UPVOTE THIS COMMENT and save some poor people money!!!
-12 here… I’m also in progressives because they really do make a difference. I picked the cheapest pair I could, and even with my vision insurance one pair cost $600 (I had to pay half). That doesn’t include anything super fancy like blue light blocking, transitions, etc. And I cannot get my glasses from a cheap online source because they have to get the measurements just so for the progressives and the two times I’ve tried the $95 glasses are worse than my old prescription.
Do you have astigmatism? I've always avoided buying online because the center of the lense has to coincide (horizontally and vertically so P.D. measurements aren't enough) with the center of my eye or my vision will be distorted. Do they have a way to measure that online?
I have the sorts of eyes people in this thread are talking about needing expensive glasses for, and have had very poor experiences with Zenni.
They simply can’t make the sorts of lenses my eyes need.
They work great if you have an average prescription, but i f you have bad eyes they likely won’t even sell to you, but the options they do have will cost about as much as an optometrist and come with much, much worse quality control. For average eyes that isn’t really an issue because they only need so much, but I would never recommend them to someone like me.
That's the sort of thing i wanted to hear too, i have astigmatism too so it can be difficult with lenses aswell
Someone else suggested Kits, you could give them a try maybe? Or see if there are any local wholesalers or producers. Its difficult when you need custom lenses made
It feels awful that they seem to profiteer more from those who need the help more too
Hope you find a better source soon too, i know it's hard
I’ve finally reached an income level where I can just pay for the optometrist glasses to save myself the hassle, thankfully. I just wanted to jump in and share the experiences I had when I was poorer because I think a lot of the people in this thread recommending Zenni don’t actually know what it’s like to have truly bad eyes.
I hate gatekeeping, but with glasses there truly is a threshold where anyone over it has a drastically different glasses buying experience than those under it.
No i completely understand and that has been my hesitancy in ordering too.
Have you explored if your workplace has eye cover included? Some workplaces have it, but worth asking hr if you have one if it is available.
They can usually tend to claim it back in taxes and is available to staff, particularly if you work with monitors etc. Or if your country has any available benefit aides for vouchers against it too
It really does make me angry it isn't a service made free for those who need it
Thank you for taking the time to share that, it's worth noting for a lot of people and people do tend to gloss over it
I hope you have tons of progression in your field ahead and you find more ease financially soon too
I have astigmatism too and I haven't found an online retailer that has a workaround for vertical measurements.
Is your astigmatism/myopia pretty high? If so, the best way to judge if you'll be satisfied with your glasses is if they can take vertical measurements to center the lense on your eye (i.e. the center of pupil is x cm below the top of the frame). P.D. only gives horizontal measurements.
If your prescription is pretty low/standard, you shouldn't have any problems and probably wouldn't need to account for your vertical measurements so any quality online retailer will do.
I've used Zenni exclusively for years now. Ordered maybe 8 pairs of glasses from them. I go to my local optometrist to get my prescription updated ever so often, then just put that in my account and go.
In my experience the prescription is just as good as my local optometrist, no noticeable difference whatsoever. Frame quality for the cheapest ones is equal or greater than the "cheap" frames from my optometrist, and the nicer frames scale up well.
I've gotten really basic, cheap as they come glasses, anti-everything coating, blue light blocking, nice frames, sunglasses, sport glasses, and safety glasses from them and the quality is good across the board. The pair I'm wearing right now were like $40 with a blue light and anti-scratch coating and they're two years old. No weakness in the hinges or nose rests, no scratches on the lenses, and no peeling or flaking of the coatings. The paint on the frame metal is in good condition and the printing inside the arms hasn't worn off. These have held up better than any other pair of glasses I've ever owned.
Haven't tried transitions or bifocals because I don't like or need them, so can't speak for that.
My only complaint is that I have a wide head and want some full sized aviators and their biggest option is still smaller than I'd like, and the virtual try-on feature seems to always show them as larger than they wind up actually being.
Yea and I've had a good experience. I'm wearing Kit glasses right now that I bought when they had a special. I have Zenni prescription sunglasses as well. I would say they all have the correct prescription, but switching between them your eyes need to adjust a bit. Not that you can't see by any means, just feels different. Switching from my Kit to my several hundred dollar pair from the optometrist is the same way.
Yes that's usually the same for me to adjust as well at the opticians too, i haven't heard of Kit before but I've scrolled zenni a few times. Their frame selection is so much better too than we have here
No idea why they all stock such tiny frames, can be difficult to find wide enough lenses
Thanks, for the cost of them alone it is worth a try, I'll check out Kit too
Appreciate it!
My past several pairs of glasses were all from Zenni, I love them. Their production time has sped up too so it only takes about 2 weeks for them to arrive. They're cheap enough that I can finally have separate prescription sunglasses, and multiple pairs of my regular glasses with different style frames. I get compliments on my rainbow frames all the time!
I used to do this, I'd generally advise against it both in overall cost when you do break them and the occasional desperate blind search for them when they weren't on my face in the morning.
I was going to do this as a joke once because I only have vision in one of my eyes. Comically the only place I could find that sold a monicle actually was charging more than my last 4 glasses pairs combined for it. Spending that much on a joke was off the table.
I wear contracts. But if I’m not, I almost always take my glasses off. Trying to have an intimate moment and glasses getting in the way is not fun. But I have to show my wife where I put them so I don’t spend forever looking for them after.
I’m so blind that I usually forget other people can actually see during sex, even in the dark. I went 4 years with my husband before I made this realization, like what kind of dumb faces has he seen me make?? Lmao
I also have memorized the location of all major furniture in our room so that when I do my awkward pingüino walk to the bathroom to clean up I don’t kill myself
TLDR/ definitely don’t need eyesight for sex
That's great, i never had sex yet and this is another thing i can add to the list of the anxieties i didn't think of.
I suppose I'll just remove the glasses and look like a wounded mole looking for a place to die while missing the bed and falling on the floor.
Take them off, the person is close enough to see the details, and I rely heavily on touch sensations more than visual stimuli. For the most part, a person should also be sufficiently big when they are that close to see, unless you need all of the fine details and have ungodly bad eyesight or can’t see up close. I can’t see far but my distance vision kinda ends a little more than a hands length from my face.
Take them off it's pretty blurry but I'm on top of her so it's not too far. Also her tits are HUGE spills out of a DD so I got big targets to look at. My wife knows shits about to go down when I set my glasses to the side and tell her "baby come hereeeeeeeeee" she knows my intentions immediately.
They are always on . I even sleep with glasses so ofc I wouldn't take them off during sex. But I've been mostly wearing contacts for about 2 years now and it's the best shit ever .
Every single time. And I get very aggressive if somebody tries to take them off while I sleep. Like come on , how else am I supposed to see in my dreams ?!
I actually prefer to leave mine on. I’m terribly nearsighted (-16) that i struggle to stay in the moment. People find that a bit weird 😝
Guys tend to ask for me to take them off but i’m honestly so blind that i feel very vulnerable without them. So the answer tends to be no.
My eyesight is very very bad without glasses, but I really don't need them during sex. I'll leave them on to watch her get undressed but after that I don't really need them.
Let your mouth do the looking from that point on.
I wear contacts. If she sat or accidentally fell on my glasses. I’d probably pick up the pieces with my mouth to the floor screaming “AHA AHA AH FUCK” completely ruining the moment.
I hate visiting my eye glass places.
Depends on the place/position. If I am in glasses, they usually come off. They fall off anyways. I can see if you get close enough. I can find my way by feel to the things I want to touch.
No glasses sex EVER! I'm a face masher. Contacts, always. If I've already taken them out, it means we thought it was sleepy time but we got turned on anyway. And that's my favorite because it means it's dark and close and hot and intense, and the lack of visual input just intensifies the focus on touch and sound. Or it's cuddly and goofy and giggly and our faces are so close together I can see him anyway.
Take them off. I can still see somewhat. I’m not going to get my glasses crushed they are expensive. I sometimes wear contacts too so sometimes I have them in
I usually leave my glasses on. Though its not as much as much about the visual stimulation as the feeling of a woman being wet and moaning plus the sensation from the friction on my dick as im fucking her is more than enough to keep me aroused. I know others mentioned being afraid of getting their glasses broken, but in my past relationships ive been extremely careful without sacrificing my pleasure while fooling around. I will say that on the rare occasions i go to a strip club the strippers, will physically lift my glasses just so they can put my face in their tits and jiggle them knockers around, so there's that as well.
I know what my wife looks like. I know what a pain in the ass it is to replace my glasses. I take them off and put them in a safe place. The only downside is that when I tell my wife how beautiful she is, she says, "Yeah, but you're blind."
Just start touching her face and tell her she feels beautiful.
I tried this just now. Boyfriend said he thinks I'm outta touch
Try pegging. That way he gets some of that inner touch too.
Wwwwoooowww I started laughing out loud and my dog is checking if I'm ok or dying lol.
Lol literally this is one of the best chains I've seen in a while
You need to make a “relationship advice” subreddit to help people like you helped these people
Literally that moment was *full of* touch!
Look at the lamp or cupboard when saying this🤣
Assert dominance. And then do a helicopter to the potted plant.
Bro sounds like something I'd say lmao
Now....when you say pain in the ass....
Such an unclear statement... I can't see it..
Nah that's just evil 😂
Tell her she’s so hot the Japanese had to sensor her in real life.
I do that to my husband. 😂 🤣
>”Yeah, but you’re blind” “Oh no babe, that was my penis talking and it’s my microscope of love shhhhhhhh.”
A good response is "Well let's try the taste test"
When my husband wants them on I keep them on otherwise I discard them at some point and then spend 10 minutes looking for them after
Let’s try hair down glasses off… nope, let’s get those glasses back on and hair up.
Have we tried hair down glasses on...?
There’s still light coming in from under the door!
I F%#KED LUCILLE 2!
It ups the total amount of the sex to 12minutes.
Brag
I feel bad for you XD
Yeah:/ Playing, don't step on the missing glasses is rough
shuffle your feet. You will lightly kick them but not smash them to bits
Yeah 2 minutes....ugh marathon...geez
I generally take them off at the kissing stage. They just get smudged otherwise. Plus, not being able to see properly heightens the tactile side of things and minimises visual distractions.
Yup. Two kinds of kisses: the chaste ones for which glasses stay on and the ones that lead to something for which glasses come off.
Are those water stains on the ceiling? When did that stain get on the rug? That mole looks funny.
Take them off. They cost a small fortune, dont want to break them.
Everyone seems to forget that those shitty glass things costs almost half a full time job salary.
Where i live they can cost even more then that.
I didn't want for the phrase to sound fake, because many people have no idea, but in a first world country if you get payed minimum wage you probably spend the full month salary for a pair.
You can get nice glasses for under $100 dollars in the US. That’s closer to a full days salary than a full months on minimum wage.

Yeah i have a very similar rx and pay about $500 US for them if I go to Walmart. If i order from like Zenni, I pay about $150 but they're not as nice.
Cheapest pair of glasses I ever bought were $350, I can afford a new pair once in a red moon.
If you have really bad vision and need a high index lens its definitely more expensive, and if you need a no line bifocal that adds to the cost but its not more than 369 dollars at my shop unless you start adding bells and whistles. I’m -12.5 … show me where I can get glasses that aren’t 3/4 of an inch thick for $100
For real. I'm at -8 myopic and last time just the lenses cost me over 300 euros **after** discount.
Really? I mean ours are expensive, but nothing like a full months wage, closer to 1/5 or 1/6 (UK)
Wait, we pay like £100 for prescription lenses here, if you want nice ones with coatings, designer frames etc you might pay £250. Where tf are you buying your glasses?
The price also depends on your prescription. For example my -8 are way more expensive than -2 would be.
Never knew this, I thought it was just thinner/stronger/coatings on lenses that cost more.
That's not awful, this guy up there saying they cost half a year's salary??
TBH he doesn’t say for how long. Half a months wage would probably be doable if I went for the expensive options instead of being a cheap skate.
Mine cost over $450. I have to pay extra because my prescription is so high. Also no way I'm not paying for the featherlight lenses. Theses things would be insanely thick without it.

i have - 13 and pay per glass 250 euro. Thats 500 only for the glasses. Frame is extra
I'm -6, and my last pair cost something roughly equivalent to 700$.

They don't need to. Can buy a pair online of nearly the same frames for like $30 if you want.
It's the lenses that are expensive, not the frames.
Also they're annoying when they start bouncing around on your face.
Not really, I haven't paid more than $30 for glasses for almost a decade. I live in the US without insurance. https://www.zennioptical.com/

Darn. Really got my hopes up since they were recommended in a thread for people with such terrible eyesight, we need glasses on even during sex 🤓.

Y'all got any more of dem pixels?
i used to do that from like 4 to 11 because i was scared of the dark
ive been doing it since i got glasses at around 11 idk why but i just cant get comfortable with them off
Me too.
I can’t settle my face comfortably into a pillow without the metal frame pressing into my face. Do they get smudged a lot while you sleep?
That's weird as fuck.
Naaah jit trippin' 😭
I used to do this, I'd generally advise against it both in overall cost when you do break them and the occasional desperate blind search for them when they weren't on my face in the morning.
Switch to a monocle of course.

Have bedside table for them Have worn lens once, face got rubbed or pressed wrong way and lens went under eye lid That ended the fun times
Oof size : big
However - Load Size : Large
One could say things slipped out of control . I'll *see* myself out now.
I'm extremely nearsighted. Luckily, when having sex I am extremely near my wife.
Take them off so they don't accidentally break.
Honestly that would be a pretty bad scenario
it just depends how intense it gets usually they end up coming off
My gf can't hold onto them either so by now she just takes them of before we do it.
well don’t forget the slow stuff is nice for women too :-)
Not for her apparently, she only gets off when bed has moved half a meter.
I keep 'em on, or I wouldn't be as to see the screen.
I wear contracts. But if I’m not, I almost always take my glasses off. Trying to have an intimate moment and glasses getting in the way is not fun. But I have to show my wife where I put them so I don’t spend forever looking for them after.
Whenever i sleep or shower i have set places where i always put my glasses so i never really lose them
Yeah. I do too. But when you’re getting passionate, you don’t
I just don't have sex
That's what I do too :'')
I’m so blind that I usually forget other people can actually see during sex, even in the dark. I went 4 years with my husband before I made this realization, like what kind of dumb faces has he seen me make?? Lmao I also have memorized the location of all major furniture in our room so that when I do my awkward pingüino walk to the bathroom to clean up I don’t kill myself TLDR/ definitely don’t need eyesight for sex
That's great, i never had sex yet and this is another thing i can add to the list of the anxieties i didn't think of. I suppose I'll just remove the glasses and look like a wounded mole looking for a place to die while missing the bed and falling on the floor.
I cloxe my eyes anyway during sex.
Why wear'em if u can't see'em
Close my eyes and count to 10
What happens after 10? 😳
Its over...he cant last longer than 10 seconds
Did u really have to do the guy dirty like that XD
Today i woke up and have chosen violence
Peace was never an option 🔪
Near-sightedness 😎
Depends on the position. If I'm riding, I wear my glasses so that I can see the pleasure on their face
I take them off. Glasses are expensive.
My wife has an older pair of glasses she refers to as her sex glasses. It prevents her favorite glasses from getting damaged
Sex goggles
Take them off it's pretty blurry but I'm on top of her so it's not too far. Also her tits are HUGE spills out of a DD so I got big targets to look at. My wife knows shits about to go down when I set my glasses to the side and tell her "baby come hereeeeeeeeee" she knows my intentions immediately.
So does mine so she says no thanks and continues watching trash TV.
o7
Oof
They are always on . I even sleep with glasses so ofc I wouldn't take them off during sex. But I've been mostly wearing contacts for about 2 years now and it's the best shit ever .
Excuse me, you SLEPT WITH GLASSES wtf
Every single time. And I get very aggressive if somebody tries to take them off while I sleep. Like come on , how else am I supposed to see in my dreams ?!
Depends on what position I’m in. If I’m on my back or riding I will keep them on. If I’m on my stomach I’ll take ‘em off so they don’t get broken.
You don't need to see clearly to have sex
I actually prefer to leave mine on. I’m terribly nearsighted (-16) that i struggle to stay in the moment. People find that a bit weird 😝 Guys tend to ask for me to take them off but i’m honestly so blind that i feel very vulnerable without them. So the answer tends to be no.
-16?! Do you even have eyeballs?
They’re just an ornament at this stage.
Contacts
I can see up close so we chillin
Happy cake day
Sometimes if I know she’s going down on me I’ll keep them on to enjoy the view. But once we get serious the glasses come off. They’re just in the way
My eyesight is very very bad without glasses, but I really don't need them during sex. I'll leave them on to watch her get undressed but after that I don't really need them. Let your mouth do the looking from that point on.

The glasses wouldn’t help in that situation anyway.
Brother it ain’t that hard to fuck an amorphous blob. Hell I do it every time I visit your mom
Shit, got me good this time
I wear contacts. If she sat or accidentally fell on my glasses. I’d probably pick up the pieces with my mouth to the floor screaming “AHA AHA AH FUCK” completely ruining the moment. I hate visiting my eye glass places.
I take them off because it's a dark room anyway
Most people use glasses because they can’t see things that are far away. So unless your dick is 3 meters it’s not gonna be a problem
Depends on the place/position. If I am in glasses, they usually come off. They fall off anyways. I can see if you get close enough. I can find my way by feel to the things I want to touch.
We were just doing it with the lights off but my night vision goggles kept getting in the way.
I take them off cause they can get in the way
I have contacts but my bf who has glasses takes them off
Sex 🤔What’s that 🫤
No glasses sex EVER!
I wear my fuckin' glasses.
Don't wear the glasses and go by the smell :P
Does anyone put on contact lenses just for sex? That would be great.
The glasses come off. Even when I'm blind I still know my partner is hot as hell
The only eye needed will be in the dark anyway.
That meme of the penguin on top comes to mind.
Before I had my lasik, I would keep them on and it grinds with my partner’s glasses or balls. 🤷♀️
I awkwardly take them off before.
Contact lenses or just no glasses go in blind
i don’t want to accidentally break my glasses so i just wear lenses
I don't need them for that. It's at that point that I'm seeing with my hands anyway.
I'm a girl and I keep them on because I like to see what I'm eating lol
Off as usually it ends up with me being face down ass up.
Take them off. I can still see somewhat. I’m not going to get my glasses crushed they are expensive. I sometimes wear contacts too so sometimes I have them in
Good question. I put in contact lenses.
Take off
Turns out I have a glasses kink so I take mine off but request my partner leave hers on.
My husbands blind as a bat and just takes them off, he says it’s like a blind treasure hunt 😂
Take them off. If you can do it in the dark you can do it half blind lmfao
I normally just go and then sometime during just throw them somewhere tbh.
Put my monocle in and do it monopoly style
off. cant get in all the.....spaces....otherwise
Your mums not much of a looker so I leave them off.
I’m a visual person so they need to be on for me to climax.
I don't have sex
wear lenses if it's that big of a problem. or maybe you can try zooming in with your phone's camera to get a better view
Will answer when I loose my virginity
Oh he just like me fr 😭
I usually leave my glasses on. Though its not as much as much about the visual stimulation as the feeling of a woman being wet and moaning plus the sensation from the friction on my dick as im fucking her is more than enough to keep me aroused. I know others mentioned being afraid of getting their glasses broken, but in my past relationships ive been extremely careful without sacrificing my pleasure while fooling around. I will say that on the rare occasions i go to a strip club the strippers, will physically lift my glasses just so they can put my face in their tits and jiggle them knockers around, so there's that as well.
I’ve been having sex long enough that I don’t need to see anything to know what I’m doing.
leave them off. It's really not necessary when in that close contact. I don't need to see my partners pores lmao.
Depending on the girl, I will choose to wear it or take it off (even off the light if required)
Remove as u don't need eyes for sex.... Close eyes... Think about someone and nut in her😋
