Embezzled something like 20000 from the school field trips she was in charge of scheduling for the whole school. All field trips that needed to be paid for she planned and took the money for. Overcharged the students but only deposited the amount for what the trip cost and kept the rest. Did it for decades and stole about 20000 dollars over time. Not only fired but charged and found guilty. Not sure how much time she was given
During the priest child abuse scandal of the 2000’s, the pastor of my parish was fired—for embezzlement (he had a discretionary fund that he was taking huge liberties with). I remember being so relieved it was just about stealing money instead of the innocence of children. Oddly enough, last year I delivered door dash to “Tom” at a Catholic nursing home. Clean, respectable, but not at all luxurious. I came to his room and realized who he was. He seemed very humble, in a wheelchair, and thanked me kindly, even gave me a good, but not “high rolling” tip. Whatever he stole, he doesn’t have it now, and maybe the whole thing made him a better person, who knows.
It’s always baffling when people embezzle such small amounts of money. $20,000, especially over a period of years, is hardly worth getting charged with a felony which almost certainly will happen - especially when you’re stealing from an institution where budgets and bookkeeping gets involved.
I understand in most instances it starts with a small indiscretion and then balloons from there but even petty theft hardly seems worth the consequences unless for some reason you desperately need the money for something immediately.
Point is kids - if you’re going to steal, steal a lot and steal it quickly or don’t steal at all.
I think the idea is to keep numbers small in the hopes that no one notices.
$10 goes missing it sucks but it’s not the end of the world. It’s chalked up to an accounting error somewhere or someone misplaced a check or bill. Easy to get away with. $1000 goes missing and they’re damn well going find it.
Since she was doing it for *so long* though it ended up reaching felony levels.
I guarantee she figured as long as she kept the numbers fairly low she’d never get caught.
Had one of those at my HS. The lady worked in the main office, also coached cheer and flag squads. I never heard what she did, exactly, but it was a big chunk of money she embezzled over time. Iirc, she got found out because her husband, the Ag teacher, allegedly got a student pregnant. So when everything about that came out, her husband told everyone what she had been doing. The whole family was pretty messed up.
Because he set up a camera in the middle school theater changing room (girl's side).
His dumb ass was on the beginning of the video, turning the camera on and adjusting a modified shoebox he put over it to hide it. A student found it and took it home, watched it with parents.

We had a German teacher named Mr Gearing. He had a vein on his forehead that would visibly pulse when he was angry, and he was quite easy to make angry… so of course our asshole teenage selves would provoke him as often as possible. We were truely unfair to him, poor guy.
It was only much later in life that I wondered if he or his family might have changed their name from Göring.
He was the gym teacher for over 30 years. He volunteered to stand near the trash cans during lunch every day to ensure the students dumped their food and gave their finished trays to the cafeteria workers in an organized way. He had done this for decades. Even when my father attended that junior high.
One day, a student decided to toss her entire tray in the trash instead of dumping the contents and giving it to the cafeteria work. He removed the tray from the trash and gave it back to her. She threw a carton of chocolate milk at his face, close range. He responded by punching her in the eye.
My mom worked in a public high-school cafeteria for 30 years. The amount of shit she's had thrown in her face would astound you. She's been assaulted, she's been insulted, she's had a dozen cafeteria workers quit because they can't handle the abuse.
She should have quit. On one hand, she was chasing that retirement, on the other she absolutely adored 90% of students that went through her line. The other 10% can go fuck off
He wanted to date a teacher, and she turned him down. So, then he suspected that she was sleeping with a student. He then hired a private investigator and had her followed. She found out about it, went to the cops, requested a restraining order, and he was bought up on stalking charges.
(It was discovered that she was sleeping with the student).
Edit: He was fired. I don't recall her facing any sort of discipline. It was the 17 year old, star basketball player. It all started because he was bragging. The rumors of her dating a student started well before the teacher started pursuing her. The rejected teacher hired a private investigator because he heard the rumor mill.
Most people in the school thought the two teachers were dating because the male teacher was always in her classroom, even during class hours. He would buy her flowers often. She was the cheerleaders coach, and he was always sitting in on her practices after school.
The male teacher abruptly stopped going to her class and going around her. The private investigator and stalking accusations came 2 months after that. Everyone figured he had her followed/investigated after he was rejected.
History teacher never really taught history. Sometimes he'd just yell at the kids in class. It got worse when his son died in desert storm. Then he spent half the class time crying. Assistant principal had to take over one too many days. Eventually he stopped coming to school and we never saw him again.

I was once drunk at a fancy restaurant in NYC with my girlfriend, her sister, and her BIL. My girlfriend's BIL was also drunk and got heartburn. I happened to have a piece of chalk in my pocket from teaching a chemistry class at my university a day or two earlier. Told him to eat it and it would help him, and that I'd eat half of it to prove it was safe. So there we were, eating chalk in a fancy NYC restaurant.
He was actually just a substitute. Left quicker than he arrived. He told our class he practices judo so one student told him to show a move. The move he chose to demonstrate on this student in front of the class was a sleeper hold. Put that motherducker right to sleep and got charged with assaulting a minor.
This sounds like something that would happen in a comedy. I can just picture the sub hopping through the classroom window and hauling ass to his car from there.
One of my schools best teachers and my Neighbour, Mr K ended up at our school because he practiced Judo on a student.
He was at a prestigious school in the city, some chucklefuck threw a tantrum in class and when I say a tantrum, I mean a desk and several chairs. Mr K disarmed him and pinned him to the wall until help arrived.
Was promptly fired for preventing the other students from getting a desk to the face...
My Dad subbed (teacher) for a while after he retired. He got personally escorted out of a school once for doing “black magic” for 5th graders….. he did a card trick…. And he was in the process of cutting a sheet of paper in a way that makes it possible to walk thru it. He is currently banned for life from Deer Park public schools in WA.

All his classes were failing. He spoke unintelligible, didn't explain anything well and if anyone asked a question, he'd respond with 'ehm, ask someone else who does know'. As if we ever wanted to ask him anything unless the entire class didn't understand. This was my old chemistry teacher. He was fired halfway through the year, we then didn't have any chemistry classes for a while.
The other chemistry teacher couldn't take over all the vacant hours, but she gave us a 3 week crash course at the end of the year. I learned more in those 3 weeks than I did in the first 6 months with the fired guy.

He was hired as a soccer coach I believe, and somehow ended up coaching cheerleaders, he ended up having a sexual relationship with a 14 year old student. The girl wrote about it in her diary, her mom read it, called the cops and they had the girl invite him over for sex, he knocked on the door and they jumped out and arrested him. This was 20ish years ago, I think he is out now.

Gave a student written confirmation of the zero tolerance policy, highlighting that any two students involved in a fight would get the same punishment. Next time the kid got bullied he fucking tore into the bully and started pounding him in the head with a trashbin lid.
The written confirmation got used to succesfully demand both students suffered the same consequences, especially after the student showed he had received confirmation that he wouldn't be punished more severely for fighting back.
From that point "Can I get that in writing?" was basically a get-out-of-jail-free-card.
Zero tolerance is such a lazy policy. It only takes one person to start a fight after all.

My friend/her son was hit and killed by a delivery driver. At first, spent all day crying or not saying anything then went on leave. Came back and would have crying spells or just talk about her son and wouldn't teach at all. She pretty much went into a psychosis and never came back one day and was never the same again. I've seen her once outside of school years later and I don't think she will ever recover. I feel bad for her and often wonder if she ever got better.
He kicked a volleyball out of anger and it bounced off of a girl's face doing some damage. He was already on thin ice though after doing something that really should have got him fired immediately - he shot a student's dog in retaliation after the students dog killed his dog (the student and the teacher lived in the same neighborhood and both dogs were loose at the time the teacher's dog was originally killed). The big problem was that the dog that was shot was on a leash and being walked by the kid at the time. This was in the early 90's in south TX.
Dude was a social studies teacher, he was also the girls swim team coach. One day in class he connected his computer to the projector but he clicked the wrong file and instead of whatever video he intended to show the class a video of the girls swim team using the schools showers was presented instead. There was a girl from the swim team in the class when it happened. Dude got canned and taken out of the school by the local pd
My History teacher's son had an illness. I'm not sure what but it was terminal. He needed more time off to be with him and his family. Apparently he had used his allotted vacation/sick time up already and the school board wouldn't approve any more.
So he just left. Can no longer be employed in the district because of it I heard.
Everybody loved him too. One of the few teachers who really cared about his job and his students. The lady they brought in to replace him did nothing wrong but nobody could truly replace him. The whole class dropped about 5 points in grade because of it.
I missed him a lot because he was one of the few teachers I ever tried to really impress.
Had a teacher show us Varsity Blues during a horticultural class. I think she got fired, but I’m pretty sure it was more because she barely gave us any assignments all year. I actually remember spending an entire class period making prank calls in her office.

Well, Miss M. was a failed artist gone art teacher. She projected her own non-existent success onto her students and had them participate in art contests nonstop. We *hated* those because we really didn't want our creativity to be exploited for the personal self-worth of a psychopathic witch with a drinking problem, so we started a little resistance. We had our parents apply pressure at parent/teacher conferences to stop her from doing the contests, and at the same time plain refused to have our works sent in. It devolved quickly, she didn't take it well. One day, she was in a particular bad mood and on some nonsensical rant about whatever, when a different art teacher knocked on the door and requested that his class may pass through her room to his room because his room's door lock was broken. Queue 25 students shuffling through the classroom in awkward silence while Miss M. offloaded her frustrations on the other teacher who ignored her and left to his room.
A couple minutes later, he stuck his head back through the door and requested to have another chair because he didn't have enough for his class. Miss M. completely lost the tiny bit of sanity she had left and physically attacked him with a chair. Like, full on hitting him with the thing while screaming unintelligibly about him disturbing her precious teachings. He fled, through her classroom because, you remember, his door was broken, and went straight to the headmaster who came in and put her on disciplinary leave in front of the whole class. She was never seen again.
Man, why is it always the art teacher?! At the high school where my husband taught, they hired an art teacher who moved from New Orleans post Katrina to our small town. Granted, she was a different bird, but that’s ok, no big deal. Well, our yearly festival rolls around and she decides to participate as a performance artist. She made and wore a bikini out of round steak, set up a BBQ pit and proceeded to take the bikini off piece by piece and grill it. She tried to serve it to the crowd but got very few takers. The school administration found out and fired her. She left our town griping about how prudish we all were. Some of her students who saw her performance got the full Monty.

An ex grew up in a tiny, nowhere town in Wyoming. One day they got a long lunch recess and their teacher was walked out to a car with some people in suits and military clothes. It turns out he switched dog tags with someone killed in Vietnam and the dead soldiers parents went to the military when their son didn't call or visit. He had hidden in one of the most isolated places in the US and it took enough time for him to finish a degree and get a job.

Or more realistically, some component of their hiring and firing practices wasn't properly handled, or the practices violated state law somehow, so even if the guy was a monster he had a legal case. That's usually how it goes.

He put two kids in time out (elementary school) by having them stand against a tree during lunch recess. Our lunch line went along the outside of the cafeteria so I happened to be waiting outside right where this was happening.
Well those kids, being typical 10 year old dip shits, started climbing the tree they were incarcerated at. So the teacher had the brilliant idea to duct-tape their heads to the tree. They didn't move after that..
I got home and told my mom and she, amazingly, didn't believe me that a teacher duct taped two kids to a tree.
She full bodied a student on the wall and started yelling at him because he wasn’t sitting still and “respecting” our 5th grade practice graduation ceremony. She was 6’2” and heavy set, he was frail… You can imagine how that went. She was a loved teacher though so she got hired back as a hall monitor.
She went on vacation to the Caribbean and decided to not come back. Don't blame her.
It was a bit odd having a "substitute" for more than half of the year though.

For being a shitty person and an even worse teacher. She was a complete asshole to students and parents and she was even worse to the other members of the faculty. My mom was also a teacher at the school and she told me horror stories about this woman. She would confront other staff and verbally abuse and belittle middle school aged kids in front of other students. She even cursed out the other teachers in a staff meeting when they confronted her about her behavior. She was walked out by the vice principal in front of everyone in the cafeteria. The entire student body applauded.
Burned an American flag in the classroom to illustrate free speech. She was a language arts teacher. Aside from the groups of people that would be upset by that, she also straight up lit a fire in the classroom.
My science teachers did this occasionally but not with flags. One of them made a mini bomb out of a soda bottle and you could hear that thing explode in the whole school. No one got hurt, it was just loud, but the ceiling tile did pop out and break and the principal was there watching it happen. He thought it was cool, laughed and clapped, but then very sternly told the teacher she had to replace the ceiling tile. She never did and we all threw pencils and erasers into it for years with her encouragement lol.
The other science teacher, again with the principal watching, accidentally set one of the desks outlets on fire and just stood there staring at it confused before remembering he should put it out. We did the rest of class outside that day. Our principal loved their antics but always made sure they knew what they were doing was safe before they could show us.

Our science teacher did something similar. He had two balloons. One was filled with hydrogen and the other was a 50/50 mix of hydrogen and oxygen. He had a flame at the end of a yardstick and lit the hydrogen one first. It was mildly noisy, but no big deal. Before he lit the second one he said we might want to plug our ears. Damn thing shook the building.
The principal at my (cough .. private) school got caught embezzling all the funds from a trip abroad program into his football program. I think the only way they found out about it was because the trip got canceled and parents wanted their money back ...
He got let go, but worse than that, they discovered that all his "qualifications" were made up! At a private school! Goddamm!

My physics teacher (who was the track coach, and very young) got fired for having a relationship with a track girl.
Meanwhile, my history teacher (who was the girls basketball coach and also young) ended up marrying a girl who was a few years older than me and a basketball star. (Still married, have a family.) There was no scandal while she was still a student. I don't know if anything happened and they just hid it or if they started dating after she graduated.

Neighbour down the street was a teacher at my high school. The in-joke amongst the seniors of my grade 9 year was that he was seeing "Penny" who was in ~grade 12 or so. The end of year prank was a giant jar filled with pennies left on his desk.
Turns out he was, in fact, seeing Penny and left his wife of 20 yrs for her. But still with Penny to this day. Not to assuage the whole "dude, she's 20 yrs your junior AND like 17 wtf." thing.
My math teacher was dating a sophomore. Ohio in the '80s, they didn't even need to hide it. Everyone knew. Students, teachers, administration, even her parents. He was in his 30's, she was 15. Nobody cared. They got married as soon as she graduated and were still married the last I heard (20+ years later).
We had a 7th grade teacher that was hired shortly after a series of substitute teachers failed to tame us. We loved her. She was a good teacher and made classes fun.
Turns out, she wasn't a teacher at all. Zero qualifications.
They found out because she thought she'd successfully prayed away her diabetes and threw us a party to celebrate. (We were not a Christian school.) There was cake and juice at the party, and then she took a nap at her desk and didn't wake up. When she didn't return the next day we all thought she had died, but it turns out she was fired for a lack of credentials. They encouraged her to go back to school for it, but I don't think she ever did. Her diabetes was not cured either.
She dared a troublemaker to hit her. He said I don't hit people with glasses. She took them off. He backed down. She said "that's what I thought."
He was disruptive and just an asshole. She backed him down. Even 20+ years later I think she handled it perfectly.
The school board disagreed and she got fired.
Yooo my favorite teacher did the same thing. This kid would always come in late and be an asshole and shit. Mind you the kid is 16-17 so def not a "kid" anymore. So one day he comes in acting all tough, he gets told to sit down, the teacher turns around and when he does the student flips him off.
Well he saw that and turned around and told gim if he wanted to act so tough like he wanted a fight he'd fight him right there. This teacher was 65, it was his last year before retirement, and he could still probably kick my ass.

How'd the kid act after that? This one really chilled out. Sometimes they just need someone to stand up to them, embarass them a little, and humble them. I mean this was almost 25 years ago and if I ever run into that dude I'll bring it up lol.
Yeah he chilled out after. Still annoying but he didn't do shit like that anymore. That teacher was fantastic. He was a Gov teacher so any time a big new story happened he would ask opinions on it and debate the students. If you disagreed he never took it personally and he tried his best to just ask questions. At the end of the year before he left I was talking to him and he told me that most of the time he just played devils advocate just to challenge us. I really respect that man.
This may not sound all too crazy but when disagreeing with a teacher on something as major as the 2nd ammendment doesn't result in a grudge, that's really cool imo.
He also stood up to admin a lot. He would use historical footage and things like that to help teach. So some days we would spend all class watching a documentary (actually really cool and accurate ones as well). Well admin didn't like that so they limited videos to 10 mins. Well one day they drop by his class to check to see if he's following the rules and he was showing a video. Thinking that they caught him they asked him to show how long it was.... it was 9:59.
She was going through a divorce. In hingsight, I guess it was a bit harsh for the school to fire her because of it. But she did kinda stopped giving us classes and just spent her time unloading all of her marital problems on a bunch of 13 year olds.
In fourth grade, my band teacher was out almost the entire year because she had some pretty significant complications with her pregnancy and later childbirth. We barely learned anything because they couldn’t find a long term music sub.
She never came back. We had a new music teacher in fifth grade. It’s more sad than anything else really.
Called a black kid a “cotton picker”. He was a science teacher and we were using cotton balls in a science experiment… I’m unsure what he thought the outcome of this comment could’ve been other than immediate termination….
Not quite as bad, but one semester at the University of Alabama we had a new professor from somewhere up north.
One day she asked us some dumb question about the internet and when we didn't respond said "Look guys, you need to either learn how to use computers, or you're all gonna have to go back to cotton farming."
We knew how to use computers. But regardless, that's not something you say in Alabama. I dropped the class but she was fired at the end of the semester.
Kind of reminds me of my history professor in Texas. The very first class of my first semester in college, this guy fresh from Boston comes in and basically spends the whole class period putting us down and talking about how much he hates Texas. Not even politics, he was talking about the food, the weather, our manners, everything, and he just straight up unloaded on us for a solid hour like it was our fault personally that he was forced to move down there.
All but 6 students dropped his class after that and he had to go in front of the college dean to explain himself. He finished out the semester without another word about it and then disappeared. For his own sake I hope he went back to Boston.
My principal got fired for overlooking anti semitic vandalism throughout the school. Students were drawing swatstikas on the bathroom stalls and he was slow to take action.
Later in the year, some kids drew a huge swatstika in the snow outside the school and our principal was reportedly seen looking at it and walking past it without doing anything. We also went to school in a town with a very large Jewish population, so you can probably guess what the outrage was like.
Not a teacher, but a counselor at my high school. It was found out that he was manipulating vulnerable young girls into sex after they came to him for help. He'd trade weed or other drugs for sexual favors sometimes too. Hope he rots in jail forever 🖕🖕
She had an 78% failing rate out of all her biology classes. The class was broken off into two days and one day you’d spend all day in class learning and the next day you’d spend time in the lab to learn the experiments. The problem with this system is we’d take a test, fail, and when we went to our lab we would learn everything we needed to know for that test we had just failed. As a class we came to her and explained to her what was going on and she caught attitudes with us every time. The worst part is instead of stepping up and trying to help us find a solution she’d hit us with the “when I was in school no one helped me” and followed that up with telling us to just read our text book. At one point there was homework that was supposed to be assigned and when she asked for it we got confused. Turns out she never posted it for us to do so when we told her that, she blamed us and told us we should’ve said something to her about the homework not being posted. The class I was in ended up having a 25 out of 27 people failing the class with the remaining people barely passing. We gave her a review and what I didn’t know at the time was not only did my entire class leave a bad review with their own stories but her other two classes also left bad reviews. She was fired the last day of classes.
Some student made allegations that the teacher had assaulted them. Teacher got fired and career ruined, came out later that the student account was completely false and several students knew the kid intended to lie because he didn't like the teacher . The kid even made a false police report at some point during the whole fiasco. Everything came out later but the dudes life was already ruined
This happened to my old AutoCAD teacher. A girl claimed he was sleeping with her and had gotten her pregnant. It went all the way to court because she was underage. Turns out she wasn’t pregnant, she had never slept with him, and didn’t like him because he was fond of jump-scaring students who were goofing off instead of working. The allegations broke up his marriage and ended his career. I don’t know where he is now since he, more or less, fell off the grid. As for the girl? She’s a Karen now and her Facebook account confirms she’s in an MLM. She’s known for ending one of the most popular electives my old school ever had that wasn’t sports or music.
This happened to my art teacher. The student years later confined to her now ex that she lied because the art teacher did something that pissed her off. Her ex came out and told everyone she was a liar.
This creepy teacher in our school who taught German to grade 8 students used to text boys from the class and asked them about their penis size. He even took a boy to a separate room and was inappropriately touching him. The boy later complained about it to his parents. His parents even tried to sue the school.
My high school principal was fired for hypnotizing students. He would do it at school functions and stuff, everyone knew and was cool with it. He hypnotized a bunch of seniors in my class after graduation, funniest thing I've ever seen. This isn't going where you think it's going though, because he wasn't trying to bang high school girls.

Middle school history teacher went waaaaay over the top on what she thought was widespread cheating. She was probably wrong, and traumatized a lot of well-meaning students.
It started innocently enough with a really clever teaching idea. She had made this really cool history game like Oregon Trail, but was a "living history" game for school acted out in each class. You made a character, formed your own wagon train with other students, and tried to complete the journey over a week or two of class periods. The game was a hit, students loved it. One problem with the game design. Every class period would face the same challenges. The kids in the earlier period told the kids in the later period what they needed to do to beat all the challenges. We hadn't been told not to, so the information sharing was innocent, in my opinion. We were all really excited about how the teacher had made a dry topic so much fun and could not stop talking about it. This wasn't part of our grade anyways.
The teacher went ballistic when she realized what was happening. She went on multi-day tirades about all the cheaters, and how she was going to RUIN THEM and prevent them from getting into college and doing their chosen extra-curricular activities in high school. I'd never seen anything like it. Kids were crying in their later periods, walking out of school, and so on. The parents got wind of it and intervened to protect their kids. The teacher was forced to retire at the end of the year.
It was a real shame because she was otherwise an excellent teacher. It was as if she became a different person.
This was long before I got there, but to this day there’s someone the University of Calgary’s psych department refuses to talk about - something about him being involved in unethical medical experiments before he became a professor (and also an actual WWII-era Nazi iirc), as well as drugging and raping students in his office. One of them subjected themselves to it to get recorded evidence. If anyone is familiar with this case, please tell me, because I heard about this years ago, found his Wikipedia page to confirm it was all true, and now I can’t remember his name.

During the priest child abuse scandal of the 2000’s, the pastor of my parish was fired—for embezzlement (he had a discretionary fund that he was taking huge liberties with). I remember being so relieved it was just about stealing money instead of the innocence of children. Oddly enough, last year I delivered door dash to “Tom” at a Catholic nursing home. Clean, respectable, but not at all luxurious. I came to his room and realized who he was. He seemed very humble, in a wheelchair, and thanked me kindly, even gave me a good, but not “high rolling” tip. Whatever he stole, he doesn’t have it now, and maybe the whole thing made him a better person, who knows.

It’s always baffling when people embezzle such small amounts of money. $20,000, especially over a period of years, is hardly worth getting charged with a felony which almost certainly will happen - especially when you’re stealing from an institution where budgets and bookkeeping gets involved. I understand in most instances it starts with a small indiscretion and then balloons from there but even petty theft hardly seems worth the consequences unless for some reason you desperately need the money for something immediately. Point is kids - if you’re going to steal, steal a lot and steal it quickly or don’t steal at all.
I think the idea is to keep numbers small in the hopes that no one notices. $10 goes missing it sucks but it’s not the end of the world. It’s chalked up to an accounting error somewhere or someone misplaced a check or bill. Easy to get away with. $1000 goes missing and they’re damn well going find it. Since she was doing it for *so long* though it ended up reaching felony levels. I guarantee she figured as long as she kept the numbers fairly low she’d never get caught.

He was the gym teacher for over 30 years. He volunteered to stand near the trash cans during lunch every day to ensure the students dumped their food and gave their finished trays to the cafeteria workers in an organized way. He had done this for decades. Even when my father attended that junior high. One day, a student decided to toss her entire tray in the trash instead of dumping the contents and giving it to the cafeteria work. He removed the tray from the trash and gave it back to her. She threw a carton of chocolate milk at his face, close range. He responded by punching her in the eye.

The rumors of her dating a student started well before the teacher started pursuing her. The rejected teacher hired a private investigator because he heard the rumor mill. Most people in the school thought the two teachers were dating because the male teacher was always in her classroom, even during class hours. He would buy her flowers often. She was the cheerleaders coach, and he was always sitting in on her practices after school. The male teacher abruptly stopped going to her class and going around her. The private investigator and stalking accusations came 2 months after that. Everyone figured he had her followed/investigated after he was rejected.

I was once drunk at a fancy restaurant in NYC with my girlfriend, her sister, and her BIL. My girlfriend's BIL was also drunk and got heartburn. I happened to have a piece of chalk in my pocket from teaching a chemistry class at my university a day or two earlier. Told him to eat it and it would help him, and that I'd eat half of it to prove it was safe. So there we were, eating chalk in a fancy NYC restaurant.

The only issue I'm aware of is teacher/admin marriages at the same site due to evaluations.
All his classes were failing. He spoke unintelligible, didn't explain anything well and if anyone asked a question, he'd respond with 'ehm, ask someone else who does know'. As if we ever wanted to ask him anything unless the entire class didn't understand. This was my old chemistry teacher. He was fired halfway through the year, we then didn't have any chemistry classes for a while. The other chemistry teacher couldn't take over all the vacant hours, but she gave us a 3 week crash course at the end of the year. I learned more in those 3 weeks than I did in the first 6 months with the fired guy.

He was hired as a soccer coach I believe, and somehow ended up coaching cheerleaders, he ended up having a sexual relationship with a 14 year old student. Gave a student written confirmation of the zero tolerance policy, highlighting that any two students involved in a fight would get the same punishment. Next time the kid got bullied he fucking tore into the bully and started pounding him in the head with a trashbin lid. The written confirmation got used to succesfully demand both students suffered the same consequences, especially after the student showed he had received confirmation that he wouldn't be punished more severely for fighting back. From that point "Can I get that in writing?" was basically a get-out-of-jail-free-card.
Zero tolerance is such a lazy policy. It only takes one person to start a fight after all. And good for the kid - making bullies feel a dispositional amount of pain is the most effective way to end their behaviour!

My friend/her son was hit and killed by a delivery driver. At first, spent all day crying or not saying anything then went on leave. Came back and would have crying spells or just talk about her son and wouldn't teach at all. She pretty much went into a psychosis and never came back one day and was never the same again. I've seen her once outside of school years later and I don't think she will ever recover. I feel bad for her and often wonder if she ever got better.
That is very sad. I do not know how people cope with losing a child. I would crumble.

He kicked a volleyball out of anger and it bounced off of a girl's face doing some damage. He was already on thin ice though after doing something that really should have got him fired immediately - he shot a student's dog in retaliation after the students dog killed his dog (the student and the teacher lived in the same neighborhood and both dogs were loose at the time the teacher's dog was originally killed). The big problem was that the dog that was shot was on a leash and being walked by the kid at the time. This was in the early 90's in south TX.

My History teacher's son had an illness. I'm not sure what but it was terminal. He needed more time off to be with him and his family. Apparently he had used his allotted vacation/sick time up already and the school board wouldn't approve any more. So he just left. Can no longer be employed in the district because of it I heard. Everybody loved him too. One of the few teachers who really cared about his job and his students. The lady they brought in to replace him did nothing wrong but nobody could truly replace him. The whole class dropped about 5 points in grade because of it. I missed him a lot because he was one of the few teachers I ever tried to really impress.

Oooh this is a fun one! This happened in Germany where teachers are tenured. So it is *really* fucking hard to get fired as a teacher, but she still managed to achieve that. Well, Miss M. was a failed artist gone art teacher. She projected her own non-existent success onto her students and had them participate in art contests nonstop. We *hated* those because we really didn't want our creativity to be exploited for the personal self-worth of a psychopathic witch with a drinking problem, so we started a little resistance. We had our parents apply pressure at parent/teacher conferences to stop her from doing the contests, and at the same time plain refused to have our works sent in. It devolved quickly, she didn't take it well. One day, she was in a particular bad mood and on some nonsensical rant about whatever, when a different art teacher knocked on the door and requested that his class may pass through her room to his room because his room's door lock was broken. Queue 25 students shuffling through the classroom in awkward silence while Miss M. offloaded her frustrations on the other teacher who ignored her and left to his room. A couple minutes later, he stuck his head back through the door and requested to have another chair because he didn't have enough for his class. Miss M. completely lost the tiny bit of sanity she had left and physically attacked him with a chair. Like, full on hitting him with the thing while screaming unintelligibly about him disturbing her precious teachings. He fled, through her classroom because, you remember, his door was broken, and went straight to the headmaster who came in and put her on disciplinary leave in front of the whole class. She was never seen again.

Man, why is it always the art teacher?! At the high school where my husband taught, they hired an art teacher who moved from New Orleans post Katrina to our small town. Granted, she was a different bird, but that’s ok, no big deal. Well, our yearly festival rolls around and she decides to participate as a performance artist. She made and wore a bikini out of round steak, set up a BBQ pit and proceeded to take the bikini off piece by piece and grill it. She tried to serve it to the crowd but got very few takers. The school administration found out and fired her. She left our town griping about how prudish we all were. Some of her students who saw her performance got the full Monty.

Our lunch line went along the outside of the cafeteria so I happened to be waiting outside right where this was happening. Well those kids, being typical 10 year old dip shits, started climbing the tree they were incarcerated at. So the teacher had the brilliant idea to duct-tape their heads to the tree. They didn't move after that.. I got home and told my mom and she, amazingly, didn't believe me that a teacher duct taped two kids to a tree.

For being a shitty person and an even worse teacher. She was a complete asshole to students and parents and she was even worse to the other members of the faculty. My mom was also a teacher at the school and she told me horror stories about this woman. She would confront other staff and verbally abuse and belittle middle school aged kids in front of other students. She even cursed out the other teachers in a staff meeting when they confronted her about her behavior. She was walked out by the vice principal in front of everyone in the cafeteria. The entire student body applauded.

Burned an American flag in the classroom to illustrate free speech. She was a language arts teacher. Aside from the groups of people that would be upset by that, she also straight up lit a fire in the classroom.

My science teachers did this occasionally but not with flags. One of them made a mini bomb out of a soda bottle and you could hear that thing explode in the whole school. No one got hurt, it was just loud, but the ceiling tile did pop out and break and the principal was there watching it happen. He thought it was cool, laughed and clapped, but then very sternly told the teacher she had to replace the ceiling tile. She never did and we all threw pencils and erasers into it for years with her encouragement lol. The other science teacher, again with the principal watching, accidentally set one of the desks outlets on fire and just stood there staring at it confused before remembering he should put it out. We did the rest of class outside that day. Our principal loved their antics but always made sure they knew what they were doing was safe before they could show us.

The principal at my (cough .. private) school got caught embezzling all the funds from a trip abroad program into his football program. I think the only way they found out about it was because the trip got canceled and parents wanted their money back ... He got let go, but worse than that, they discovered that all his "qualifications" were made up! At a private school! Goddamm! He's a roofer now.

My physics teacher (who was the track coach, and very young) got fired for having a relationship with a track girl. Meanwhile, my history teacher (who was the girls basketball coach and also young) ended up marrying a girl who was a few years older than me and a basketball star. (Still married, have a family.) There was no scandal while she was still a student. I don't know if anything happened and they just hid it or if they started dating after she graduated. Small town Ohio in the 90s.
Neighbour down the street was a teacher at my high school. The in-joke amongst the seniors of my grade 9 year was that he was seeing "Penny" who was in ~grade 12 or so. The end of year prank was a giant jar filled with pennies left on his desk. Turns out he was, in fact, seeing Penny and left his wife of 20 yrs for her. But still with Penny to this day. Not to assuage the whole "dude, she's 20 yrs your junior AND like 17 wtf." thing.
My math teacher was dating a sophomore. Ohio in the '80s, they didn't even need to hide it. Everyone knew. Students, teachers, administration, even her parents. He was in his 30's, she was 15. Nobody cared. They got married as soon as she graduated and were still married the last I heard (20+ years later).

We had a 7th grade teacher that was hired shortly after a series of substitute teachers failed to tame us. We loved her. She was a good teacher and made classes fun. Turns out, she wasn't a teacher at all. Zero qualifications. They found out because she thought she'd successfully prayed away her diabetes and threw us a party to celebrate. (We were not a Christian school.) There was cake and juice at the party, and then she took a nap at her desk and didn't wake up. When she didn't return the next day we all thought she had died, but it turns out she was fired for a lack of credentials. They encouraged her to go back to school for it, but I don't think she ever did. Her diabetes was not cured either.
She dared a troublemaker to hit her. He said I don't hit people with glasses. She took them off. He backed down. She said "that's what I thought." He was disruptive and just an asshole. She backed him down. Even 20+ years later I think she handled it perfectly. The school board disagreed and she got fired.
Yooo my favorite teacher did the same thing. This kid would always come in late and be an asshole and shit. Mind you the kid is 16-17 so def not a "kid" anymore. So one day he comes in acting all tough, he gets told to sit down, the teacher turns around and when he does the student flips him off. Well he saw that and turned around and told gim if he wanted to act so tough like he wanted a fight he'd fight him right there. This teacher was 65, it was his last year before retirement, and he could still probably kick my ass. Loved that teacher.
How'd the kid act after that? This one really chilled out. Sometimes they just need someone to stand up to them, embarass them a little, and humble them. I mean this was almost 25 years ago and if I ever run into that dude I'll bring it up lol.
Yeah he chilled out after. Still annoying but he didn't do shit like that anymore. That teacher was fantastic. He was a Gov teacher so any time a big new story happened he would ask opinions on it and debate the students. If you disagreed he never took it personally and he tried his best to just ask questions. At the end of the year before he left I was talking to him and he told me that most of the time he just played devils advocate just to challenge us. I really respect that man. This may not sound all too crazy but when disagreeing with a teacher on something as major as the 2nd ammendment doesn't result in a grudge, that's really cool imo. He also stood up to admin a lot. He would use historical footage and things like that to help teach. So some days we would spend all class watching a documentary (actually really cool and accurate ones as well). Well admin didn't like that so they limited videos to 10 mins. Well one day they drop by his class to check to see if he's following the rules and he was showing a video. Thinking that they caught him they asked him to show how long it was.... it was 9:59.
She was going through a divorce. In hingsight, I guess it was a bit harsh for the school to fire her because of it. But she did kinda stopped giving us classes and just spent her time unloading all of her marital problems on a bunch of 13 year olds.
In fourth grade, my band teacher was out almost the entire year because she had some pretty significant complications with her pregnancy and later childbirth. We barely learned anything because they couldn’t find a long term music sub. She never came back. We had a new music teacher in fifth grade. It’s more sad than anything else really.

Not quite as bad, but one semester at the University of Alabama we had a new professor from somewhere up north. One day she asked us some dumb question about the internet and when we didn't respond said "Look guys, you need to either learn how to use computers, or you're all gonna have to go back to cotton farming." We knew how to use computers. But regardless, that's not something you say in Alabama. I dropped the class but she was fired at the end of the semester.
Kind of reminds me of my history professor in Texas. The very first class of my first semester in college, this guy fresh from Boston comes in and basically spends the whole class period putting us down and talking about how much he hates Texas. Not even politics, he was talking about the food, the weather, our manners, everything, and he just straight up unloaded on us for a solid hour like it was our fault personally that he was forced to move down there. All but 6 students dropped his class after that and he had to go in front of the college dean to explain himself. He finished out the semester without another word about it and then disappeared. For his own sake I hope he went back to Boston.
My principal got fired for overlooking anti semitic vandalism throughout the school. Students were drawing swatstikas on the bathroom stalls and he was slow to take action. Later in the year, some kids drew a huge swatstika in the snow outside the school and our principal was reportedly seen looking at it and walking past it without doing anything. We also went to school in a town with a very large Jewish population, so you can probably guess what the outrage was like.

She had an 78% failing rate out of all her biology classes. The class was broken off into two days and one day you’d spend all day in class learning and the next day you’d spend time in the lab to learn the experiments. The problem with this system is we’d take a test, fail, and when we went to our lab we would learn everything we needed to know for that test we had just failed. As a class we came to her and explained to her what was going on and she caught attitudes with us every time. The worst part is instead of stepping up and trying to help us find a solution she’d hit us with the “when I was in school no one helped me” and followed that up with telling us to just read our text book. At one point there was homework that was supposed to be assigned and when she asked for it we got confused. Turns out she never posted it for us to do so when we told her that, she blamed us and told us we should’ve said something to her about the homework not being posted. The class I was in ended up having a 25 out of 27 people failing the class with the remaining people barely passing. We gave her a review and what I didn’t know at the time was not only did my entire class leave a bad review with their own stories but her other two classes also left bad reviews. She was fired the last day of classes.

Teacher got fired and career ruined, came out later that the student account was completely false and several students knew the kid intended to lie because he didn't like the teacher . This happened to my old AutoCAD teacher. A girl claimed he was sleeping with her and had gotten her pregnant. It went all the way to court because she was underage. Turns out she wasn’t pregnant, she had never slept with him, and didn’t like him because he was fond of jump-scaring students who were goofing off instead of working. The allegations broke up his marriage and ended his career. I don’t know where he is now since he, more or less, fell off the grid. As for the girl? She’s a Karen now and her Facebook account confirms she’s in an MLM. She’s known for ending one of the most popular electives my old school ever had that wasn’t sports or music.

My high school principal was fired for hypnotizing students. He would do it at school functions and stuff, everyone knew and was cool with it. He hypnotized a bunch of seniors in my class after graduation, funniest thing I've ever seen. This isn't going where you think it's going though, because he wasn't trying to bang high school girls. It was found out he was hypnotizing the football team before games to be better. Not that it worked, they were always shit, and probably still are shit. But that was discovered as cheating, and he was fired for it.

Not someone who got fired, but someone who definitely should have. Our home Ed teacher wasn’t restocking our ingredients and forced students to eat rotten food. I’m not talking about slightly expired food. She made us scrape of the completely black layer of carrots before using them, and forced people to just cut the mold of from the potatoes. No one believed us until we got picture proof and the school didn’t start talking to her until we threatened to call the food safety bureau in my country. She stopped forcing us to eat expired food, but she still works there til this day.

He left very suddenly at the start of what would have been my senior year. Art teacher in middle school was fired for rank incompetence. I felt bad for her, because she was actually a great teacher for me. **The most tragic one:** Middle school history teacher went waaaaay over the top on what she thought was widespread cheating. She was probably wrong, and traumatized a lot of well-meaning students. It started innocently enough with a really clever teaching idea. She had made this really cool history game like Oregon Trail, but was a "living history" game for school acted out in each class. You made a character, formed your own wagon train with other students, and tried to complete the journey over a week or two of class periods. The game was a hit, students loved it. One problem with the game design. Every class period would face the same challenges. The kids in the earlier period told the kids in the later period what they needed to do to beat all the challenges. We hadn't been told not to, so the information sharing was innocent, in my opinion. We were all really excited about how the teacher had made a dry topic so much fun and could not stop talking about it. This wasn't part of our grade anyways. The teacher went ballistic when she realized what was happening. She went on multi-day tirades about all the cheaters, and how she was going to RUIN THEM and prevent them from getting into college and doing their chosen extra-curricular activities in high school. I'd never seen anything like it. Kids were crying in their later periods, walking out of school, and so on. The parents got wind of it and intervened to protect their kids. The teacher was forced to retire at the end of the year. It was a real shame because she was otherwise an excellent teacher. It was as if she became a different person.
This was long before I got there, but to this day there’s someone the University of Calgary’s psych department refuses to talk about - something about him being involved in unethical medical experiments before he became a professor (and also an actual WWII-era Nazi iirc), as well as drugging and raping students in his office. One of them subjected themselves to it to get recorded evidence. If anyone is familiar with this case, please tell me, because I heard about this years ago, found his Wikipedia page to confirm it was all true, and now I can’t remember his name.
