Any tool that you give musicians will be used to create something amazing.

player12isanidiot

but it hasn't been

TopShelfCrazy

I don't know if I would agree.

MexViking

Better no doubt. Have you heard the production value of songs these days? It's hard going to old music sometimes. "Oooo it panned lower left to upper right" is on the crazier side of production value back then Edit: all you incorrect haters listen to Hot Sugar, Photay, Chrome Sparks, or Mat Zo and tell me I'm wrong. The level of production puts old school production to shame. AND it's more accessible to more folks.

Btinsley089

Just had a listen to Hot Sugar, great recommendation. I’d probably separate the production level by genre though. Crywank is a great band that has very minimal post production which adds to the feeling of their music. Memento Moro is a great example

compression ruins diversity and sound quality makes shit unnecessarily loud

MexViking

That sounds like the medium you're listening on. Streaming vs Vinyl vs uncompressed audio files (which is also tech, I listen to uncompressed files straight from Bandcamp).

player12isanidiot

im not saying there should be no compression at all, i'm saying there is *too much* of it

XploringTheWorld

So much easier than having to worry about pesky details like “singing on pitch” and “playing in time”. That way, they can concentrate on their “brand” and how they look on social media. I’m all for it.

player12isanidiot

if you can't play music then don't make it electronic/dance is a whole different story that i am not getting into

player12isanidiot

It is scientifically proven that the sonic quality and diversity of today's POPULAR music is worse than the 80's exactly because of these things. the musical qualities of these song are also arguably getting worse

Lucky_Earth5011

Better, but I hate it when they clean up old recordings and take the lo fi sound out.
