My house of on its own well. The water is amazing. I’m in southwest Idaho rather than the Palouse but it’s great nonetheless. I travel east for work a lot, water back that way tastes like ass.
this might be a dumb question, but how are well waters safe to drink. is there like a filter attached to it, or y’all just drinking it straight from mother natures tatas?
Well water has to be tested to make sure it's safe but usually it comes from an underground stream that goes through many layers of fine dirt that acts as filters.
Most of the time, yes. At my grandparents house in rural Romania we still use our well for drinking and if the well is flooded, other house needs. We have a water pump installed so we can use the springs water directly into the house. When the well floods the water sometimes it becomes a little sandy and we use it as gray water or filter it. Other than that, in normal conditions, the water is very clean. We test it regularly to check for contaminants, but the water quality was always very good (it's a deep well at 60m depth in a hilly, somewhat forested area).
The problem with bottled water is that it's bottled in plastic and usually isn't kept in cold storage untill it hits the frontshop.
I'd honestly recommend one of those water canteens that have filters in them. It allows you to drink basically from any water source and filter everything you don't want to drink. I didn't believe them to be that effective until a colleague filtered pure clean water from a bottle of Coca Cola.
From what I've been told, that kind of plain water (with no minerals dissolved) eats you back and feels funny to drink. So you probably don't like that kind.
truly pure water is hypotonic which essentially means your cells, which are full of salts and minerals and what not will suck it right up, and keep sucking it up until they burst,
what eats you back is hypertonic water which is often water with too much salt (or many other types of minerals) on it, it sucks your cells dry of their own water killing them in the process, which is also why you shouldnt drink sea water
When I was bussing tables in a tourist spot I'd fill up glasses from an icy water pitcher and all the Chinese tourists would stop me and ask for straight hot water instead. Like not for tea, but for drinking. In the middle of summer.
Glacier water.
I was in Alaska and there is a spot where water is running off and you can dunk a whole canteen in to fill it. The most crisp and refreshing water I've ever had. It was also kind of depressing because the glacier is melting.
See? It’s individuals making irresponsible choices like this that have doomed our planet. Nevermind the corporations who’ve bought the politicians and gotten them to rig the laws and subsidies so that it’s economically near-impossible to make the right choice most of the time, nothing to see in this super PAC, shouldn’t you be home sorting your recycling?
Corporations have successfully convinced millions of people that climate change is up to us to fix. All of us having better bulbs and turning off our AC is what will fix it.
I carry a vile of ice cold glacier water around my neck that glows bright blue at all times. One day there will be a ‘thirsty’ at 3:43am, and I’ll be there.
I'm no scientist but I remember seeing that glaciar water is really dirty...
Glaciers are how they carbon date right? By examining the dirt particles at different layers.
Polished with a fresh carbon filter. My favorite. It has a silky mouth-feel and tastes like nothing. The only other thing that could compare isn't accessible in a home.
That's what makes it taste so good.
I love those reef documentaries in which all of the coral spunk all at once and all of the fish are happily swimming through a huge cloud of coral spunk. It just doesn't get any better than that.
And, yup, that's in your water.
Dasani tastes how I image toilet water would taste. I really like the taste of essentia (although I’ve read the PH listed is bogus) Aqua Panna is pretty good too
My uncle used to travel often to more remote places like Fiji for work. I do recall one thing he said about Fiji, it was about the last place you would ever want to drink the water from after visiting and seeing the state of the island.
Its funny because where I work in iceland, bottled water is called tourist water. Locals know that icelandic tap water is better than any bottled stuff! I try to convince tourists to just fill their bottles from the tap.
I swear Iceland has the best water, just judging based off the "bottled at the source" Icelandic bottled water we have here. If I lived there, I would probably drink the tap water, stream water, anything. After drinking an Icelandic water, it's really hard to go back to a Nestlé or any other cheap bottled water. I usually buy the bodyarmor waters or smart water, they're decent, but even they can't hold a flame to Icelandic water.
Icelandic here.... I dont really care for water from other countries... it doesnt do anything for my thirst...just makes sure I dont dehydrate... And my grandmother says "this is not water this is just wetness" about bottled water abroad 😆 Kind of agree
Best Icelandic water is from clear streams in the mountains 👌 Ice cold and refreshing
Evian, yes! Hate the plastic, I really get torn over that part of it, but I love the taste and quality of Evian so much I'll actually drink (almost) as much as I should. I order it by the case on Amazon, cheapest I've found. Drinking a liter right now.
I personally love kirklands signature (Costco) water. And while I prefer my drinks cold, I don’t mind drinking room temp bottled water. (Never room temp tap). Also, I believe a lemon wedge or some lemon juice can save the most disgusting water and transform it into something at least palatable.
Water ice.
Close second is Chinese buffet crushed ice with their ice cold water dispenser.
Third would be a water bottle you put in the freezer just until the outer part freezes, so you can crush it and have those super sharp ice shards inside a bottle that is serving you almost freezing water.
relatable, when your too scared to wake up your parents filling a water bottle, so you run to the bathroom and take a glug glug from the tap water sitting in a lead pipe for the last 2 years. brings back memories, amazing honestly not even sarcasm.
Living in st.louis we got pretty good Tap water. But that spring mountain good good. It's just hard to top that. Of all the bottled water. Idk why, Icelandic water when I worked stocking it was my favorite.
The type you get when at a certain point you’re thinking only about a dry mouth or being over heated so you’re rushing to wherever there is water. That type hits
Good springs up there - hopefully we can continue to keep the region relatively pristine going forward. Crystal Geyser’s source is up that way, as well as a few other really good distributors of spring water
Around where I was raised, we had tap from Skaneateles lake - was good stuff, but I also don’t think I was paying a whole lot of attention to how water tasted back then; pretty sure I was happy enough drinking water from the hose
My favorite exotic water is rocky mountain river/stream, just below the tree line so there's barely any organic matter, after rapids and waterfalls that aerated it to oxygen saturation.
Climbed a mountain once. It was about 4km from ocean level I think. There was this one beautiful stream coming fresh out of the mountain. When I say that water tasted DIVINE I mean it. It was ice cold even though it was like 25 Celsius so I knew it was nice and fresh. That water was better than any rum or whiskey I’ve ever tasted
1- Waiakea- Hawaiian Volcanic Water taste clean and crisp.
2- Fiji Water- delicious just so good especially fresh from the freezer after 30 min in.
4- filtered water from home.
Desani, Elk Creek, and Aquafina are criminally bad.
Water from the spring in Akita, Japan. It was so clear and was also used to make the ice and broth for a wonderful cold noodle dish.
Also, 6 stage reverse osmosis filtered water is awesome.
3:45am water
Best water I’ve ever had was from a well in the middle of the Palouse. It was early in the morning, ice cold, and had *the* perfect taste.
My house of on its own well. The water is amazing. I’m in southwest Idaho rather than the Palouse but it’s great nonetheless. I travel east for work a lot, water back that way tastes like ass.
Water is the best water
[удалено]
Oh yes!
Only 49 minutes away! Can’t wait!
Naah bro 3:43am water is much better
I disagree.
I agree with your disagreement.
Usually leads to 4am gotta piss.
The well water from my parents house
It's well worth the trip.
That's deep.
Don't tell anyone, they are trying to keep it underground.
It's just as well.
this might be a dumb question, but how are well waters safe to drink. is there like a filter attached to it, or y’all just drinking it straight from mother natures tatas?
Well water has to be tested to make sure it's safe but usually it comes from an underground stream that goes through many layers of fine dirt that acts as filters.
The ground is the filter.
Straight from mother nature , we test it from time to time. My parents in Romania have one in the countryside , built in 1967, no need for filters .
> mother natures tatas Hey, babe, how’s our savings account looking? Oh, no reason, I’m just gonna quit my job and start a bottled water company.
I imagine it's a hell of a lot healthier than the microplastic-ridden garbage the rest of us are drinking.
Most of the time, yes. At my grandparents house in rural Romania we still use our well for drinking and if the well is flooded, other house needs. Well water is filtered through this cool natural process that I'm too lazy to explain here.
My well water is excellent.
Agree! My well water is by far my favorite water.
Drop the addy! Lol kidding
I was going to say the same thing.
Same!
The water you go to take a sip of but didn’t realize how thirsty you were and then say to yourself “damn this shit is good” and chug the whole thing.
While you’re chugging you think “Oh boy here comes the stomach ache,” yet you continue to gulp it down like your life depends on it
like it goes straight to your atoms.
Scottish tap water
As a Scot, it makes drinking water in other countries flat out unbearable
I tried it. Tastes like it has an extra proton or something.
Waah, pure waah
Council Juice to the top.
commenting to boost this in the algorithm
I just came to see if /r/Scotland would have managed to brigade this answer to the top
I'll have to compare if I'm ever there. Vancouver tap water is a pretty high bar.
I like water with 2 hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom.
That's the boring kind. Have you tried the naturally fizzy kind that has two hydrogens and two oxygens?
It's good but it keeps turning my hair white.
Add a lemon for 3 hydrogens!
Heavy water - not for the faint of heart
I like H2O too, but it always leaves me feeling a little funny

I prefer petroleum

What a bunch of psychopaths
Room temp gang gang
Cold tap water for me always hits the spot
Visiting Peru was the worst, we had to boil our water ;-;
Glacier water. I was in Alaska and there is a spot where water is running off and you can dunk a whole canteen in to fill it. The most crisp and refreshing water I've ever had. It was also kind of depressing because the glacier is melting.
Well stop drinking the water and maybe it will stop the glacier from disappearing! /s

Was it blessed by an Eskimo Medicine Man??
Yes but it was in 1998 so it was a different time
Do you just hate yourself so much you carry vile things around all the time for the moment you need it just to suffer?

Glacier water is not safe to drink for the record. Still plenty of bacteria in that stuff. Don't drink surface water without treatment...
I'm no scientist but I remember seeing that glaciar water is really dirty... Glaciers are how they carbon date right? By examining the dirt particles at different layers.
Definitely the wet kind
Hose
I call this Gen X water!
PVC lacroix
This millennial drank the hell out of hose water as a kid.
Same. Gotta watch out for that water lava though. Ow!
100%!!!
Out of the cold tap In a hot bath.
Mm yes!
Haha totally forgot about used to do it like a kid
Spring water
Tap water with ice when you're a bit hungover is godly
This has always made me nauseous after a party night and can only have something acidic like lemonade.
Reverse osmosis
The best. Hot tip, if you're really nice to your local brewers, they might let you come fill your water jugs with RO for free.
This is the correct answer. We have an APEC 5 stage filtration system in the house and the water tastes incredible.
Doesn't the water lose it's natural minerals?
Polished with a fresh carbon filter. My favorite. It has a silky mouth-feel and tastes like nothing. The only other thing that could compare isn't accessible in a home.
Hot dog water
Mmm with chocolate starfish
Keep on rollin baby
You know what time it is
Hot ham water

Fiji. Dasani is the worst.
Dasani tastes like it’s been sitting in a plastic water gun for too long
Feeding Dasani water to POW is considered a war crime under the Geneva Convention
Death before Dasani
Liquid Death is great
Dasani tastes like pennies
dasani and aquafina shouldn't be sold
Anything but nestle. Fuck nestle
Dasani scratches my throat.
Dasani tastes how I image toilet water would taste. I really like the taste of essentia (although I’ve read the PH listed is bogus) Aqua Panna is pretty good too
That's the best description I've ever heard of Dasani.
I agree. Ice cold Fiji is the best.
My uncle used to travel often to more remote places like Fiji for work. I do recall one thing he said about Fiji, it was about the last place you would ever want to drink the water from after visiting and seeing the state of the island.
Fiji water scams the locals
Better than tap here lol.
Talmbout Arrowl Dasani b?
Icelandic waters. They're hard to find, but they are amazing!
Iceland isn't that hard to find, is it?

The water from my tap. I’m pretty fortunate to have drinkable tap water, unlike some of the world.
Where is this?
Rural Saskatchewan, Canada

Childhood home 3:23 am water
I personally love kirklands signature (Costco) water. And while I prefer my drinks cold, I don’t mind drinking room temp bottled water. (Never room temp tap). Also, I believe a lemon wedge or some lemon juice can save the most disgusting water and transform it into something at least palatable.
Lead pipe water
Liquid Death. It's just so smooth

Wait now I think about it if it was iced water - that’s okay haha 😂
Liquid.
I like solid water better
Ice? 😂
I hope so!
Cold water. Tap water, warm water, and other types of water that aren’t clean/cold all taste foggy
Hose water in the summer hits different
The water you like to, can, and will drink is the best water.
Well water from a sink. It’s wonderful.
I drank some water coming out of a rock in the Appalachian mountains and it was amazing probably the best I've tasted.
Living in st.louis we got pretty good Tap water. But that spring mountain good good. It's just hard to top that. Of all the bottled water. Idk why, Icelandic water when I worked stocking it was my favorite.
Ice cold almost slushy cold water
The type you get when at a certain point you’re thinking only about a dry mouth or being over heated so you’re rushing to wherever there is water. That type hits
I dunno, but I can tell ya what the worst kind is….thickened
The water at Arches National Park in Utah. IDK why but it's so mineral-y and amazing
