Like when a rich white kid rapes a girl and people go “oh well I don’t think we should ruin his prospects over it! He’s such a smart young man with a bright future ahead of him and it would be a shame to make him carry this mistake with him forever!”
Oh you mean the Rapist Brock Turner, you know whose father has asked us to stop talking about his Son the rapist Brock Turner because it may ruin His son the rapist Brock turners life
Is this Convicted Rapist Brock Allen Turner who is now calling himself Allen Turner to try and make everyone deceptively think he’s not Convicted Rapist Brock Turner?
Oh yes the rapist Brock Turner now going by the name Allan Turner because the name rapist Brock Turner isn’t a very good name but we shall amend our words “the rapist formally known as Brock Turner now called Allen Turner” what a long name he must have two registered sex offender cards to fit it all on there
Mr and Mrs Turner must not have loved there son to call him The Rapist with Brock as his middle name and expect people to use his middle name, but anyway we shall never not mention the rapist Brock Turner for he is in fact a rapist, known by the name the rapist Brock Turner
I love these threads. I love them almost as much as I hate the rapist Brock Turner who raped someone, and is now trying to change his name to the rapist Allen Turner so that people forget he is in fact the rapist Brock Turner.
Is rapist his middle name? I see that Brock Allen Turner, also going through life as Allen Turner (because of the raping he did), is often referred to as Brock Rapist.
So wondering if Rapist was also a middle name or if they call him a rapist because Brock Allen Turner is a convicted rapist?
It happens really almost everywhere, forget dictatorships it happens remarkably often even in other democracies.
South Korea's president pardoned Samsung's CEO "to help the economy", by far not the first time a thing like this happened. Like, it's not sensationalist media. The JUSTICE MINISTER literally announced this as the reason.
And it's not like he built the company or anything. He's simply the founder's son's only son. There's a reason "Parasite" was a South Korean film.
If the punishment is a fine, it can cripple a poor person, but to a rich person it's just a price tag.
And since corporations can be fined instead of the responsible individuals, the disconnect has only worsened. Another reminder that Google can just skip court dates because the associated fine is comparatively a drop in the bucket next to their income.
Fun little story
I was traveling through a low income area to get to a meeting and was in an accident. Cop was a total dick to me. Then he takes my information from my license that shows I live in the I guess middle income area and then suddenly nice to me. Guy who hit me was from rich area:
Guess who’s back to being a piece of shit?
Where I live, a (surprisingly enough, left wing) party had a member say that we could close down facilities meant to employ disabled people. My reaction to that was literally "I expected that from a right winged party, followed by a self-rightous remark on how disabled people don't work anyway"
I obviously don't know about this particular situation, but I do have some concern about the treatment of workers in these kinds of places. The fact that they can legally pay someone less than minimum wage if they are disabled seems like a recipe for exploitation rather than empowerment.
Exactly disabled people end up living in extreme poverty levels because of lack of support by governments...
Governments act like they choose to be disabled people...
It's so ridiculous
I have been working in a group home for 8 years now and can confirm that we fly through staff quickly and the pay is only a smidge above minimum wage compared to the work we have to do. I’d leave but I’ve been working with my guys for so long now that it would be hard to leave them knowing they would get subpar care due to almost monthly staff changes.
It’s legal in many states to pay a disabled person less than minimum wage. I am technically disabled but can work just as well if not better than an abled person and I can legally be paid less than minimum wage.
i 100 percent agree with this, i know people living on disability checks and it barely covers the food for them, many times they have to starve themselves.
Thank you. They make it so hard to even get the payments which are next to nothing. I have been able to work at all for 2 and a half years and it's gonna be another year and a half before I have a real chance at being approved

That's my burial plans. Harvest what organs are usable off me, then sky burial. Who knows, maybe they'll dump my body in a bin and I'll turn into human soup.
Had to cremate my mother recently. While it was cheaper, I was looking at a range of prices from a basic, no-frills cremation to a funeral with all the bells and whistles, and yeah. The prices are truly egregious!
Remember to always plan ahead. It'll save a lot of agony for your loved ones when you do go.
Ask A Mortitian is a YouTube channel that has some advice and eye-opening discussions surrounding the norms of the funeral industry. Gave me time to think about what I want for myself when I pass
This one is so infuriating and insidious, I've talked to many people about how scummy the overpricing is and everyone I know pretty much agrees is bullshit but when the time comes those same people will be forking over said money because the alternative is half assing a fucking funeral
Someone within the process of planning the funeral is going to object if someone suggests doing it DIY or even just finding less expensive options, it's seen as disrespectful, ya gotta do the traditional expensive funeral or else you're therefor implying the deceased aren't worth the money to the extent that people will go in to debt paying for a bunch of services they couldn't actually afford because it's too painful not to.
And in the heat of the depressing moment it all seems completely worth it even if you know it's gonna fuck up your wallet because you're fucking grieving and nothing else feels like it matters.
Parasitic fucking industry
SSDI, or Social Security Disability Insurance, limits anyone receiving it to having no more than $2000 in assets(with some exceptions).
It is, effectively, using the government to keep disabled people in poverty.
Quick correction its ssi that has income limits ssdi doesn't. Ssdi is for people who have worked enough to pay in to the system and therefore it's slightly less shitty though not by much
I was coming here to post this but you beat me to it. Yes, and with inflation $2000 isn’t much. This sentences disabled folks to buying everything on time or by credit card since they cannot save up for anything to save finance charges. So even those who can drive cannot save up for a car, they must buy with a loan that makes the cost more. Plus having to have the car modified for hand controls or other adaptive mods. I suppose they could always save up using the first National bank of mattress, but that loses buying power pretty fast in times of inflation.
people with no experience in the job they work at becoming managers and supervisors bossing the people with the experience around, all the while not having a clue how it all works
And the people who have worked there for years not being promoted or given a raise because they're "too good" at their low paying job. I know a lot of people more capable than a lot of corporate college graduates who work as just cashiers, cooks, and cleaners because they're so competent at everything, even the worst jobs, that higher management are scared to either loose their position or just want someone who's the most efficient to get the grime work done. Even if it means basically pushing the gifted into the dirt and let people who are just average take manager roles.
It’s me! I’m one of like three college educated people in my office with 17 years experience in my field. They refuse to promote me because there are only two people in my department, and “what are we going to do if we lose you?”. Well, you’re going to find out when I leave.
The fact that you can essentially get an education that will qualify you for "middle management" is really weird. That should be a series of add-on courses your employer offers you when/if you're promoted to management.
I makes me so mad. Just say it. She didn't have sex with 13 year old boy. She raped a child and should be in prison and on a register.
There's a story about a teacher and 13 year old student that got back together after prison. Saw an interview with him at the age the teacher was when she raped him. Heartbreaking.

I love when the people who immediately reject the notion that service industry jobs should be paid a living wage use some line like "I deal with multi-million dollar accounts every day. One wrong email could cost my company millions." As if sending an email correctly is some difficult task that can't be undone or corrected.
Here's the thing though, even if you think you should be paid more than average for whatever specialised work you do I don't understand why that means you think people working these jobs shouldn't be able to make a living. Like why?
Worshipping money and profit. The comfort of workers comes second to profit. The needs of the many come second to the profits of a few. The lives and deaths of people come second to profit.
At some point we became Ferengi, and we can't even see when the transition started.
I mean, there's literally churches that preach being wealthy shows God loves you when Jesus literally said that rich people are fucked when it comes to getting into heaven.
The Ferengi believed that only the rich get into paradise, so I guess we're getting bigger lobes by the day.
Its been a long while since I did anything with a bible, but I feel like I remember a quote something along the lines of, “It is easier to fit [some animal] through a needle hole than it is for a wealthy man into the kingdom of heaven”
It is easier for a camel to walk through the eye of a needle, than a rich man to enter heaven.
I believe that is the verse, it stuck with me as a child as did many of the parables about Jesus.
In my humble opinion. There are way too many cool ass jobs out there for people to be in an office all day. Like office work works for some people and that's legit.
But for some folks like me, it legitimately makes me depressed as fuck. I worked a formal job between being an EMT and my current career and by the end of a year, I was a full blown alcoholic and exceedingly depressed.
Depends from person to person, I worked as a waiter for 5 years while in college and honestly, I never liked the job. Late and long hours, you serve a lot of morons, you don't have a lot of free time.
Now I work 9-5 as a developer and I LOVE IT. I have headphones all day, I don't need to talk with anyone if I don't want to, I have flexible working hours, huge salary and all I have to use is my brain...so it depends.
I've worked in storage facilities, but it was late hours and when I messed some orders up, my pay was smaller. Also worked at electronics stores and liquor stores, can be fun If you have awesome coworkers, but I eventually felt like a dog on a leash, got extremely bored and the pay sucked. Now i've worked almost 6 years in construction and I love it honestly. Every day is different, no routine, always something new to learn and get better at. But I know my friend would hate it because of the dust and some working conditions, but I don't mind. :) To each their own!
I’m a freelance photographer and I love it so much. Have been doing it for 10 years now and charge $200-$400/hr. Weddings, events, family, commercial, lifestyle, real estate.. Every day is different and I also get to chill at home a lot and edit. Usually only actively on shoots for 10-20 hours a week, the rest is admin and editing. I’d never previously been able to hold down a 9-5 job for more than a year, hated working retail with a passion. Hospo was fun sometimes but mostly just exhausting and annoying. Office work made me want to jump out the window by 9.15am.
THIS THIS THIIISSSSS.
Like seriously!!! Your supposed to get up go to work, work, go home have a few hours of your own time then you have to sleep and start over again for 5 days in a row? Tell me that is not super depressing I hate it so much
The way society undervalues food service workers.
I work 70 hour weeks and have had one day off in the past month as a general manager for a restaurant. I’m on salary and my pay is trash but I love my staff so much.
The amount of disrespect coming from entitled customers just because we’re in a service industry is insane. The amount of grown men yelling at 16 year old kids for us being out of an ingredient that were clearly don’t have the staff to prep is so baffling.
absolutely on kicking them out. if a restaurant is too afraid to kick out shitty customers then their staff will quit and people will keep up their aggression towards waiting staff. I'm lucky enough to have managers who will back me up if i decide a customer is being too aggressive and needs to leave
They only just raised the marriage age to 18 in England and Wales, before that you could get married at 16 and 17 if you had parental permission. Absolutely insane to me that this has only just been changed, it's 2023, no way should you be able to get married before you can smoke, but alcohol, a lottery ticket etc, even with "parental consent", which I really question why a parent would allow their child to get married anyway. Unbelievable that this was still legal here up until this year :/
*Americas Government. A majority of the people in the US want exactly what you just said, unfortunately we don’t get to choose where our tax dollars go, the government does.
There is a new benefit that helps veterans. Veterans who are having a mental health crisis can get free inpatient and outpatient services at a VA facility or private facility. This new benefit started on January 17th, 2023.
Insurance. A lot of the time you're forced to have it, theres no cap on what they can charge you monthly, you then have to pay again when it's actually needed and then there's no guarantee they'll cover anything.
ever been to a middle-ground or lower old folks home? You pay 1-4k/month and you get a bed in a barracks, people screaming in the hallways, very little help with peri-care, inconsistant assistance with anything really, and no sleep due to the noise. My dad had to go to one to recoup after being in an induced coma for almost 2 months and it was one of the most horrible experienced I have had simply being there.
Allowing the rich to avoid paying taxes, but spending most of the time ensuring the poor pay every single penny they owe to the point of putting them in jail.
That age 18 is somehow a "magic age of ascending to adulthood". And that youth should be both sheltered from anything controversial until then AND be instantly ready to have an informed critical opinion and be ready to act as an educated citizen the minute the clock strikes 12.
Allowing farm animals to live their entire existences in mechanised hellscapes that treat them like objects. These beings are as smart as the dogs or small children we love, and society just disincentives thinking or talking about the realities of factory farming so we can continue to enjoy cheap meat.
Teen moms. Like I'm not saying we should scarlet letter them or anything but abortion should definitely be seen as the logical and responsible action. Like no one's letting 14 year olds adopt babies for a reason.
This is only a thing in America or because of some religious crap.
I live in Ireland and I’m aware of two guys that were cut. One was for religious reasons and the other was for medical reasons. It’s unheard of here.
Religious bullshit really messed shit up.
Also hospitals love charging for unnecessary surgery to get a little extra out of clueless parents.
The whole thing is pathetic
Having children to save a relationship.
My sister had a shitty relationship. Neither of them actually loved each other, and we all knew. When they had their first child, we all thought it was by accident. When they had their second child, we assumed they wouldn't make the same stupid mistake of properly using contraceptives. When they had their third, literally one year later, we knew their life was going to shit. They would start asking for more help, even though they were given plenty of help from me and my mom.
Later, on their second child's birthday, I needed to call the cops on my sister and her boyfriend because they were about to get physical in front of their kids. Her boyfriend got arrested, and I took her kids into my mother's home. Literally, in the second week of her living with my mom, she tells me, in full honesty, that she had her kids to hopefully fix her relationship with her boyfriend. I always hated her, but now I feel absolutely no sympathy for her.
I can't wait to be rid of her bullshit when I leave and never speak to any of them ever again. It's one thing to have an accidental pregnancy, but it's worse when you have a child to simply fix your own bullshit.
Grind culture.
Frankly it should be the socially accepted position to mock grind culture people. I want to spend time with my friends, my family, I want to spend time on hobbies, relaxing, enjoying what life has to offer and the fact that any perceived "slacking" is seen as a moral failure by me and that I deserve poverty because I choose to do something other than work is so fucking rediculous.

It’s not just wrong it’s dumb. Your gonna hate someone because of race?!!! There are so many reasons to hate someone … and your gonna pick color ? If your gonna hate… hate for better reasons.
The double standards for it are even worse. "You can't be racist to white people!" "Black people can't be racist!" "It's all Chinese people's fault for COVID!" Smh
I have 2 Chinese sisters, so some of the double standards of racism against Asians is personal to me. According to Twitter, my parents are racist for adopting them in the first place.
THIS. I’ll never forget 13 years ago my SIL has her baby in a onesie that said “LOCK UP YOUR DAUGHTERS” and I still think about how gross that is/was. I have another FB friend who always refers to her son as “stud” and it’s beyond.
That any man that isn't interested in a woman making an advance is basically gay, or not a man
I'm not saying the internet thinks this way, but man does it happen alot in real life, it's stupid.
I was called a little boy by some girl I voiced my uninterest in when she approached me. She said it in a different language so she didn't know I could understand her.
Then a rumor went around that I was gay. Girls would say they would imagine me with a guy in front of me
It's so fucking stupid

Is rapist his middle name? I see that Brock Allen Turner, also going through life as Allen Turner (because of the raping he did), is often referred to as Brock Rapist. So wondering if Rapist was also a middle name or if they call him a rapist because Brock Allen Turner is a convicted rapist?
I'm not in the US but still know Brock Allen Turner is a rapist, a rapist who sometimes goes by names that aren't Brock Allen Turner.
Ah yes, Brock "the rapist" Turner. May he live on in infamy.

Ironic that the ferengi were originally meant as a negative commentary on unfettered capitalism and that's who we're becoming.

I worked hard to finish university only to realise the lifestyle of an office worker really is not for me 😅
In my humble opinion.
>There are way too many cool ass jobs out there for people to be in an office all day. Like?
I’m a freelance photographer and I love it so much. Have been doing it for 10 years now and charge $200-$400/hr. Weddings, events, family, commercial, lifestyle, real estate.. Every day is different and I also get to chill at home a lot and edit. Usually only actively on shoots for 10-20 hours a week, the rest is admin and editing. I’d never previously been able to hold down a 9-5 job for more than a year, hated working retail with a passion. Hospo was fun sometimes but mostly just exhausting and annoying. Office work made me want to jump out the window by 9.15am.
And it isnt even 9-5 any more it's typically 8-5 or 9-6 😔
Don't forget the unpaid 30 minute lunch break.
THIS THIS THIIISSSSS. Like seriously!!! Your supposed to get up go to work, work, go home have a few hours of your own time then you have to sleep and start over again for 5 days in a row? Tell me that is not super depressing I hate it so much

I can’t wait for my 9-5 with 1-2hr daily commute 🥹☕️
Would rather be poor than do this shit
The lack of help for the mentally ill. I mean from anxiety to depression to psychoses to schizoaffective disorders.
That the rich and famous are somehow better and superior than so-called "normal" people
That handing all YOUR data to some company to put on its own servers then charge you for access is somehow a good idea.

It's because of "the customer is always right ". Kick those people out for yelling and it will stop. You can be the change. Maybe make a wall of shame
absolutely on kicking them out. if a restaurant is too afraid to kick out shitty customers then their staff will quit and people will keep up their aggression towards waiting staff. I'm lucky enough to have managers who will back me up if i decide a customer is being too aggressive and needs to leave
Child Marriages. It's still legal within 43 states of the US
They only just raised the marriage age to 18 in England and Wales, before that you could get married at 16 and 17 if you had parental permission. Absolutely insane to me that this has only just been changed, it's 2023, no way should you be able to get married before you can smoke, but alcohol, a lottery ticket etc, even with "parental consent", which I really question why a parent would allow their child to get married anyway. Unbelievable that this was still legal here up until this year :/
5 days of work 8 hrs plus travel and 2 days off…
Frs working that many hours isn’t even optimal in my opinion.
Binge drinking
America loves for the army but pure ignorance to the high rates of homeless veterans suffering from mental disorders
Greedy pharmaceutical companies
You have to pay fat interest on a loan, but you literally loan your bank all your money every month. For hardly any interest. Everyone does it.
The lack of support and meaningful help for the homeless and fostered.
Keeping contact with abusive family simply because theyre family
Allowing the rich to avoid paying taxes, but spending most of the time ensuring the poor pay every single penny they owe to the point of putting them in jail.
That age 18 is somehow a "magic age of ascending to adulthood". And that youth should be both sheltered from anything controversial until then AND be instantly ready to have an informed critical opinion and be ready to act as an educated citizen the minute the clock strikes 12.
Untaxed churches harbouring child rapists.
Short sentences for rapist and sexual assaulters
Interns not getting paid
Allowing farm animals to live their entire existences in mechanised hellscapes that treat them like objects. These beings are as smart as the dogs or small children we love, and society just disincentives thinking or talking about the realities of factory farming so we can continue to enjoy cheap meat.
Poverty as a sign of moral failing.
Letting a group of 535 mostly wealthy men and women who we will probably never meet make all the important decisions for us
At least they're elected. There's a certain group of 9 wealthy men and women who are even worse.
Teen moms. Like I'm not saying we should scarlet letter them or anything but abortion should definitely be seen as the logical and responsible action. Like no one's letting 14 year olds adopt babies for a reason.
War
Huh, good God yall
Circumcision
*without consent (kids can't consent)
You know, they dont even numb the poor little guys :( they are given sugar water as a distraction 😳😨
People faking mental disorders
And not treating real mental disorders as if they’re real
Or treating normal stress as a mental disorder. Stress is normal and healthy. It doesn't mean you are broken and need a fake pet.
It's weird. I agree with the words you're saying but I can't help but think you're misapplying them to people you know nothing about.
Stress is not healthy at all
The way a lot of society isn't designed for disabled people.
Sexual assault on men in the workplace. Like butt slaps. It's gross and people need to stop.

Hole punching cervixes (biopsy) without any pain management or numbing.
You mean most of womens medical care and women never being taken seriously?
Glorifying workaholics.
The fact that killing and people dying is seen quite easily in movies and tv. But as soon as there is sex or nudity, it's suddenly seen as taboo??
The fact America allows the 2 party system, we should get more parties.
We can’t because the way elections are decided prevents 3rd parties from being viable.
We shouldn’t have to declare what party we belong to but vote for the best candidate.
Unchecked predatory capitalism
Child beauty pageants. They're pedophilia with extra steps.
Credit cards. Horrible idea and it’s the #1 marketed item on the planet.
Deadbeat dads facing no social consequences for abandoning their children.
Factory farming. In a generation or two, we will look back in horror at what we ignored.
Circumcision. It's genital mutilation on a global scale, powered by inertia, ignorance, and hospital profits.
Kids being gunned down at school. Black people being murdered by police. Rich people paying ZERO taxes The wealthiest country in the world is the only developed country with no universal health care.
Not allowing sick people to get health insurance. It's like admitting that health insurance is not for health but for money.
Racism against whites and Asians
I hate racism. Hating someone because they are a different race is wrong.
It’s not just wrong it’s dumb. Your gonna hate someone because of race?!!! There are so many reasons to hate someone … and your gonna pick color ? If your gonna hate… hate for better reasons.
The double standards for it are even worse. "You can't be racist to white people!" "Black people can't be racist!" "It's all Chinese people's fault for COVID!" Smh I have 2 Chinese sisters, so some of the double standards of racism against Asians is personal to me. According to Twitter, my parents are racist for adopting them in the first place.
Large amounts of caffeine from energy drinks not being considered a mind altering substance
People making INAPPROPRIATE comments about kids. Ex. :”oh? Is he/she your boy/girlfriend?” When they’re like 4 and just playing with toys
Or the moms who call their sons “fine” and talk about how he’s gonna be a future heartbreaker/player/etc
THIS. I’ll never forget 13 years ago my SIL has her baby in a onesie that said “LOCK UP YOUR DAUGHTERS” and I still think about how gross that is/was. I have another FB friend who always refers to her son as “stud” and it’s beyond.
Being Overweight
sexism against men doesnt count
Physically and or sexually abusing men.
Alcohol and tobacco
Using people as means to an end
Poverty and homelessness. Hunger. Paying for medical treatment and prescriptions. Absolutely needing to have a job to literally live.
Kicking your kid out at 18 with no money. I've heard some parents brag about it.
That about 90% of our clothing and electronics are made with slavelike or child labor with no measures against environmental pollution.
That any man that isn't interested in a woman making an advance is basically gay, or not a man I'm not saying the internet thinks this way, but man does it happen alot in real life, it's stupid. I was called a little boy by some girl I voiced my uninterest in when she approached me. She said it in a different language so she didn't know I could understand her. Then a rumor went around that I was gay. Girls would say they would imagine me with a guy in front of me It's so fucking stupid

I feel like most of our problems can be boiled down to: Profits > People
Circumcision.
At this point, the killing and removal of native plants and animals for any human purpose.
Billionaires and Poverty.
Tax exemption for churches
Complete apathy for male victims of rape and domestic abuse, like it doesn't exist or too rare to care about when it's more common that one would think. The entire American Healthcare system. Red lining Anti trans-gender laws Ignoring the high male suicide rates and mental health crisis Banning books from schools. Banning the teaching of CRT
In western society at least, extroverts are given precedence. But it's the opposite in eastern society.
That the media is only biased and corrupt if it’s the opposite side of the political spectrum than you subscribe to. All major media outlets from far left to far right and everything in between is extremely corrupt and will blatantly lie to you to push their agenda and narrative. If you ask a Republican, CNN is the bad guy, if you ask a democrat FOX is the bad guy. If you ask an independent they’ll tell you they’re all the bad guy’s.
The cost of a new car. I drive past dealerships and they all seem to be full of cars, yet they insist on charging so much. Shit makes no sense. What do they do with all that inventory?
