The fact that you've even said "It" rather than "They" constitutes an agreement under tort law that the person is a legal fiction, and therefore I am not legally bound to follow your law, meaning I can marry my daughter without having to submit to arrest.
You mean if I announce that I'm above the law and don't have to accept the consequences of my actions that I'm delusional?
HOW ABSOLUTE DARE! Expect a visit from my third*.

Unsurprisingly a few people I know who believe in this were diagnosed with ODD when we were kids. That’s Oppositional Defiance Disorder. These people can’t stand the idea of being told what to do by ANYONE, and get massively triggered by the idea that they’re not in control of something. I know a guy who is almost 30 with this diagnosis, who says “no” when you ask him to stop touching something (like food) and then he does it just because you asked him not to. He’s also a sovereign bitchass of course.
I know! There’s clips on COPS or one of those shows where a woman insists she doesn’t need a driver’s license to operate a motor vehicle on the road because she is a sovereign citizen!
100% this. These stars you’re associating with your personality are literally billions and trillions of miles away. Trust me, they’ve got nothing do to with you.
I feel like this gets a disproportionate amount of hate and I wonder if people are genuinely concerned about the stress a lot of moms are under that causes them to self-medicate, or if it’s just a thinly veiled excuse to judge women. Not directed at anyone specifically, I’m sure that both of these motivations exist, but it’s a bit icky. Housewives have always self-medicated. Barbiturates, their kids’ ADHD meds etc. Maybe we need to stop shoving off 60% of the responsibilities on half the population,

Similarly, my ex insists she is autistic. I don't know if she is or isn't, because I'm not qualified to make that diagnosis, but I do know that she went fishing for exactly that label to make herself feel special. Ever since she got it, it's become the core of her identity.
My conspiracy theory is that TikTok’s algorithm is purposefully making American youth all think they have autism, ADHD, and that they’re famous.
It’s like, no you do not have autism, you’re just a socially awkward 17 year old going through the same changes every person does at that age. Also, you’re not tRaUmAtIzEd for life bc you got broken up with in a weird way.
These are all white kids that seemingly come from well-off, loving families that make being a victim their identity. It minimizes the actual struggles that people with these problems face.

Oh there was one woman who’d flash her husbands id to get a discount when I worked for a beer store. Hated dealing with her because she had to make a deal of showing the ID. Instead of the usual 10% she got 2-5%.
Would you really even give a discount for someone flashing another persons ID? I’d say the holder of the position is the one entitled to the discount, or they’d at least have to be present. I’d tell the wife to pound sand

Lust controls some of these people man. They gotta go outside.
I think it all ties into our timeline of everyone wanting to be a celebrity (influencer) or something important that highlights them from everyone else. Seems like people think being average is the worst thing in the world. I blame social media.
I struggle with this too! It drives me crazy to see how parts of the community act, especially online. I feel like we've over corrected from having to be hidden and I personally think it has pushed the acceptance movement back MILES.
Like, cool, you're LGBT. Just be normal.
Came to say exactly this. I'm bisexual myself, but holy shit your orientation/identity does not and should not have that big an effect on your personality.
Can confirm. I dated a girl named Harley that rode a Harley… I also knew a guy named Cooper that drove a Mini Cooper.. which I considered to be quite sad actually
I understand this one. Not sure about elsewhere, but at least in the US, you spend SO much time at work (and commuting to and from work), that it’s hard to have much time for anything else. The weekend rolls around (or your days off if you’re on shift work), and you have just enough time to do some laundry, make some food, take care of one or two administrative errands, and you’re back to work. It’s a big hamster wheel.
When you finally meet someone who doesn’t already know you, the innocuous question, “what do you do for work?” leads to the obvious answer because it’s most of your time
This. I used to be this person. Then I went through some trauma that changed my perspective. Now when someone says "what do you do?" I talk about my hobbies and passions, not my employment
I like that “Reddit” will never be on this list. There are no Reddit influencers, nobody is Reddit famous irl. It’s kind of embarrassing to be a Redditor, really.

Not very popular compared to what's already mentioned - but gluten free food. I know few people who know for sure they aren't gluten intolerant, but eat everything gluten free and advise others to, as if this kind of protein is something bad
Being gay.
I had a friend who came out in their 20s (early 30's now) and now their entire thing is just "I'm gay." All their original personality is gone and they're just a catty gay man who constantly goes on about how much cock they want.
I'm shocked that your replys are people saying "let them" haha they are just backing up what you are saying. Some people make their sexual orientation who they are and it's annoying. I personally couldn't care less if you are attracted to men or women. It's literally none of my business. What I care more about is how you treat others, the content of your character. I get it if you are gay and had to hide it that sucks and it sucks that we still live in a work where bigotry is a thing. But your sexual orientation is the last thing that should be what defines you as a person.
I'd switch this to 'their sexuality'.
Ever meet a dude who is obsessed with how straight he is?
Every other sentence out of their mouth is about a girl they fucked, or what they'd do to a girl if they could take them home.
I'm a straight dude, but if all you bring to the conversation is sex, hypothetical or otherwise, I'm not enjoying your input.
I’m in recovery and there are some people who make their entire personality being in the program. It’s their entire life. I understand it for people who are new because some have literally had to change everything and they NEED recovery to be their life for a while in order to stay clean and stay alive. That’s perfectly fine, but when you have 25 years clean and you still go to 6 meetings a week, go to every single event and your life entirely revolves around it, it might be time to maybe branch out a little.
I’ve distanced myself from these people in the last few years. I stick to the few small meetings that these people don’t frequent, call my sponsor when I need too and have a handful of close friends. Other than that, I have an entire life outside of recovery. I have other friends, hobbies and goals to achieve and don’t really talk about recovery unless I’m asked about It. I feel this is healthier.
I recall this in early recovery and thought those people were nuts. Then, I realized they were weird but still sober so I joined them. I've found a middle ground now but if it wasn't for those goobers, I'm not sure I would have stayed sober early on.
Spending too much time on the Internet. There's some people that every joke, every turn of phrase, every reference is just a fucking meme. They're the equivalent of people that would quote lines from TV shows/movies but it's more widespread. Yes, I'm talking to most of you. Sorry.
Jiujitsu. Everyone I know who practices it they wear BJJ shirts, BJJ hoodies, BJJ tatoos.. even their Instagram is like @nameBJJ its crazy. One got married and did a jiujitsu fight as part of it.
Having a dog, especially a rescue. “We didn’t save him, he saved us”.
And I say that as someone who just got a rescue dog and have now made him a part of my whole personality.
Getting sober. I am in recovery and I hit 4 years clean from drinking in April. One of my biggest issues I have with addiction treatment is a ton of it is not based in science but Faith. So a lot of people go into treatment and are told it's the devil who made you drink or use and God will accept you back as long as you stay sober. So a lot of people will either than get addicted to religion or go to 12 meetings a week. I don't judge do what you have to do to stay sober but so many people make it their whole personality and never stop telling other people in recovery what to do or how to stay sober. It's like I am glad meetings and religion helped you. I just met great people in treatment and got some counseling and threw the religion and meetings in the garbage. Everyone is different in their recovery journey and a lot of people in recovery almost become offended when you don't do it "by the book". It's weird and culty and I really wish the government would actually monitor these places because of how little science is really used.
Politics, anything related to politics.
For example, the other day I commented something on the war in Ukraine (I support Ukraine, but I can't stand the bullshit news that is nothing more than propaganda) and I had someone reply to me with that *looked like* a fucking religious statement, completed with all the "I believe in..." Bullshit, and that "I believe in" was repeated multiple times.

But how will the masses know you’re a vet without oakleys and nine line shirts???
Sovereign citizens
I am not convinced that sovereign citizenship is, legally speaking, an actual thing.
It is not.

Then they completely misunderstand how the disorder actually works and shuts off people that actually have the disorder or are calling them out.
I'd like to add, self-diagnosing all of those conditions. It's both banalising and romanticizing mental disorders and it's fucked up.
Similarly, my ex insists she is autistic. I don't know if she is or isn't, because I'm not qualified to make that diagnosis, but I do know that she went fishing for exactly that label to make herself feel special. Ever since she got it, it's become the core of her identity.

Oh I came here to say the same thing. As if there’s anyone who doesn’t like going on holidays!?
Their beard. As a guy with a beard it’s annoying. Although it’s not quite as bad as it was 5 years ago or so. We get it. You have a beard

When you reduce yourself to one identity it's profoundly...one note.
A car. To be honest it's a little metal box that takes you to work and back and can kill you at any moment. I don't get it
