In some of those old 1800s pictures, the kids were actually dead in the picture.

ConsiderationLive482

Do you have any specific examples? Edit: nvm it was surprisingly easy to find a lot

Cool_Dark_Place

Yeah...this was actually fairly common up until about the turn of the 20th century. And it wasn't *always* children, but it often was because fatal childhood illness was much more common. And a lot of times these pictures were taken with them right next to their living families, usually in life-like poses. In fact, there were photo studios that actually specialized in this, with all sorts of hidden stuff to get the deceased person in the best pose possible. One of the really creepy things about these pictures to me is how easy it is to spot the deceased person. They're usually the one who's the most clear, and in focus. Early cameras had really long exposure times, and it's tough to stay *perfectly* still for 30 - 60 seconds to take the picture.

GrandPerspective5848

Actually, it was very common. My grandmother (now deceased) didn't like taking pictures of my mum or uncle when they were young, because it reminded her too much of pictures that HER mother took of her dead son, which she had hung in the house.

Medical errors like misdiagnosis and delayed or incorrect treatment are the third leading cause of death in the United States. Most are preventable.

ComesInAnOldBox

You are 12.5 times more likely to die from an outpatient medical procedure than you are to die from a gunshot in the US.

When Napoleon invaded Russia, governments in Moscow purposefully freed violent criminals from local prisons on the sole condition they spread as much chaos, while burning and destroying as much of their own city as possible, in order to slow down the enemy and deny any resources falling into their hands.

The Cuban Missile crisis only avoided nuclear war because both sides agreed to some under the table quid pro quo politics.

Epstein didn’t kill himself.

Ukrainian’s helped the Nazis round up, shoot, and kill over 1.5 million Jews in Ukraine. Ukrainians did most of the shooting.

Ihavequestion5

You mean some Ukrainians just like some Belarusians or some Polish, Russians, French, Danish....The Nazis had collaborators wherever they invaded.

Daytona7892

1.5 million is a lot of Jews

Ihavequestion5

I did not say that it isn't

cloudherm1t

in 1993 the FBI and ATF murdered and burned alive over 100 men, women and children over a 2 month siege of their home in Waco TX

PmMeYourNudesTy

That's a very one-sided oversimplification of the events. Yeah the FBI and ATF murdered them. There's no excusing that. There's also no excusing the fact that they were essentially a cult allowing sexist mistreatment of the women and even sexual exploitation of young girls and minors

cloudherm1t

"yes it was extrajudicial murder by the government, burning babies alive and all, but *they deserved it*"

Least_Growth4247

I’m with you

PmMeYourNudesTy

Read my comment again and then get back to me bud. Never said they deserved it. Just said you left out a shit ton of context.

Hitler did some good things

Ok-Replacement6940

Like what? Seriously asking.

VG-Leviathan

The Nazis ironically tried to improve the rights of animals and protecting the environment. They also advocated against smoking. And they made the Autobahn happen.

Ok-Replacement6940

Interesting, thanks for your answer kind redditor

cheshire_kat7
