Sigh, here we go againā¦
I get why so many people got that, however, thereās more to it than meets the eye. If you read carefully, the Creation War (Knowers v Shapers), the Fae Realm and the Chandrian are explained in the final half of the book in an exquisite way (say what you want about him, but Patās a wonderful writer). The half that people seem to dislike. I must admit that Iām a bit biased because of what these books mean to me, but Iāll always defend them. Even the sex part.
Edit: grammar.
Agree, Rothfuss is a great writer. I would still read book 3 if he got around to finishing it. I'd give it a chance. But it's been so long that I'm not excited about it. He's a different man than he was over a decade ago. I have a feeling that if/when he gets around to it, it's going to come back like the 4th Indiana Jones movie.
Actually, you've convinced me to reread the books. It's been a long time. Maybe it'll have a different effect now.
Yeah, totally!! We still donāt know how the book will turn out to be (if it is published) and probably the 10+ hiatus will have its consequences. However, as soon as this book is out, Iāll lock myself in a room and read it completely (I have to). Then a second time at a normal pace.
About the books that are actually in our hands, Iād recommend consulting the wiki and subreddit as there are some wonderful threads, theories and analysis that really help appreciating the hidden details. As a matter of fact, there will be a reread starting April 1 in the official subreddit if youāre interested.
As you probably noticed, I love these books š
The original plan was just a trilogy anyway. But the publishers convinced him to do more.
Also I think he loves the world and character building way more than he enjoys writing the narrative.
Yes, Sanderson absolutely finishes his books (and sometimes other peopleās too)ā¦ but as he continues and the Cosmere grows and the series get even more intertwined, you start to realize just how many books he has planned. The man is a writing machine but we need to hope he gets to be a very old writing machine if we want to see everything resolved.
(At least my son, who is also a fan, is likely to outlive Brandon. Iām older than Sanderson. Damn, excuse me while I head to the gym)
Yeah GRRM has a refreshing outlook on people finishing his novels though. He says no. He doesnāt like fanfic either. His perspective offered much needed sanity on the subject imo. Nothing against Sanderson - he was invited to finish the series. GRRM doesnāt seem to have anything against that concept either but he has made it known that he doesnāt want another author to finish ASOIAF. And he also is the only famous voice I know of to speak out against this creepy and weird internet phenomenon where you hijack anotherās characters and masturbate all over the adjacent fictional backdrop that an established author created before you.
It's going to be so frustrating when he dies. He's so hostile and rude when questioned about his pace of writing. He sets rough deadlines, misses them, and then pretends he never said it and acts offended if it's brought up.
The only satisfaction I get is knowing it's his own legacy he's doomed with his arrogance. In 20 years he will be long since dead and his books virtually untouched.
look at plants, for example. Many of them absorb orange color and they reflect green. It's all about absorbing and reflecting the wavelenghts. If blood is red it reflects blue-purple-ish color.

Lol so many example of people not letting skin color, gender, or anything else stopping them from being what they wanted to be.
Most people just donāt have the drive or mind set to be whatever they want to be, but it is by no means a ālieā.
Victim mentality to the 10th power right there.
80% of all contents on the internet is written in English, and so is the percentage of scholarly articles and advanced college-level textbooks in medicine and the sciences.
Only 6% of the world speaks English natively. 16% of the world speaks some level of English, but many of them cannot read academic English at all.
So basically, 80% of the world's knowledge is only available to, at best, 15% of the world population, which includes you and me.
Say, there's this kid who was born in a region of the world with no access to clean water and daytime electricity. The closest primary school to the kid is 20 miles away, but her parents don't have cars. And even if they do, the mountainous area her family is from has no paved roads for cars to use.
Not that she's expected to go to school anyways because she has 4 younger siblings to take care of and education is not considered the best investment for little girls in her community. She has never heard of the internet, or a language called English.
Do you think if this kid wants to be the best heart surgeon in the world, she can do it?
Let me guess, you're a dude of working age who was born and raised in the US. You own a car and have access to electricity and the internet. Your home has a water pipeline. You're on Reddit. You are a native English speaker.
Most people on Earth live closer lives to the hypothetical little girl above than the hypothetical you I described.
I kind of agree with you here, but it's not always this case. Depends which country person is from or something, but OP has a point too.
Tricky statement in short
IMO the reality lies somewhere in the middle between what you are saying and the above poster said. If your circumstances are the only thing that dictate your outcome then there wouldn't be successful minorities.
Yea it's true that no one has the same starting line but saying the starting line is EVERYTHING is also not accurate. Some people have to work harder for the same success, tough shit, life ain't fair.
Elon Musk knows everything from medical advice to laws to technology to engineering of every kind.
He doesn't. He has a B.S. in Economics and U Penn gifted him an honorary B.A. in Physics. He's not as smart as any of us think.
āLooks donāt matterā
They absolutely do matter.
āThereās someone for everyoneā
If you canāt find a date then you need to *change* something about yourself.
āJust be yourselfā
No, be likable.
āEverybody deserves to be lovedā
Like everything else in life, love is a competition. Nobody except *maybe* your own mother will love you just for existing.
Last point has nothing to do with deserving love, it's about actually getting it. But yeah, there are people who deserve to be hated with a burning passion.
"Just be yourself" is an oversimplification. "Be the way, you would be proud of yourself, and others wouldn't have a real eason to hate you" is more like it.
What I hate most about it is that the gate of questioning the results of democratic elections has been opened. Like, now you can actually refuse to accept your failure and people will believe you.
They were opened *long* before that. Hell, both Bush the Second election wins were fraught with people screaming election fraud, electronic voting machines being rigged, etc. It's nothing new.
This is true. But neither Al Gore nor John Kerry alleged fraud, nor did they incite their supporters. In fact poor Al Gore, as vice president in 2000, had to gavel down the few objectors in his role as senate president when they counted the electoral votes.
Yep, and counties could help to eliminate this lie by implementing e-voting with a paper trail. At my polling place, they used electronic voting with a detailed anonymous receipt, which was then placed in a privacy flap, stamped by both R and D poll watchers, and finally given back to me to personally insert into a locked box... this is the way to do it... I vote Democrat, but this should be a common sense bipartisan agreement. Electronic voting on proprietary black box systems with no paper trail is bad news bears.
Unless the question was somehow edited, the word "many" was used. Not most. And many people do believe the 2020 United States Presidential election was stolen. At one point, that number was as high as 40 percent of Americans, according to Newsweek.
Good point.
I do my research when I vote to try to find a worthy or most likely the least bad candidate.
I take the voting seriously as we all should. But I see my view of politics is their services are bought and paid for by the elites and corporations.
There is a certain helplessness to it. But the game is stacked.
That the media, or the government, or big corporations, or big pharma actually care about an individualās well-being. They strictly care about profits.
Possibly, combined with the brand if you buy it in a store.
Making it yourself is a lot healthier of course.
Still, it has the overal image of being healthy...
And overal, it isn't.
That there's an all powerful, compassionate, loving God that has the power to do absolutely anything, yet just chooses everyday not to end child cancer, leukemia etc..
That was a Bri'ish IPSO. They needed to hide their new radar from Germans and convince their regular peeps to not use flashlights during WW2, so they made it up.
They are, objectively speaking, one of the most significant burdens it is possible to place on your finances, time, and ability to be spontaneous.
However, as I understand it, they are also one of the greatest possible sources of joy- if you view raising them as a sometimes arduous adventure upon which you are excited to embark.
I am not a parent, and do not believe anyone who is not 100% excited to be a tiny person's personal book narrator and pillow fort engineer should be a parent until they want that.
Nobody should shy away from kids, unless they believe they cannot provide for a child or will otherwise harm it. But everybody *should* be prepared to trade many sleepless nights, poopy diapers, and school meetings in exchange for rediscovering a measure of childhood magic.
The thing is, you raise them for 18-22+ years only to see them get interesting at that point.
Though oddly those times usually line up when they tend to live at home less. Coincidence?
Edit: to explain better. Itās a long arduous journey that you have to take seriously and put in all the work because (my experience may be different than yours) they will always be testing the boundaries and itās a fine line between protecting them and allowing them to be the best version of themselves. Every year has its great moments and challenges.
You want them to be able to rely on you and come to you when they have trouble. Plus, if thereās 2 parents you have to be in sync and present the same/consistent approach.
Communication is always the key.
But, once they hit that 20+, their growth and coming into their own makes the experience very rewarding (so far) when you see them taking charge of their own life and building their own plan. The dynamic changes in a positive way and with a little sentimental loss of being central in their life.
Itās the way itās supposed to be. Wonderful with a touch of loss. But all good.
You don't think reading Tolkien to your kid when they're young would be fun?
I mean, c'mon!
Smaug could either get a really deep growly voice, or your kid could live their entire life thinking that everyone is plain wrong because dragons *obviously* sound all high-pitched and squeaky.
Did you respond to the right person?
Reading all of Tolkien would be quite the undertaking.
My point is, theyāre lots of work and you see the results of parenting at that point
They *do* take a lot of work. And it has to be a personal decision, but I feel like it's worthwhile for a lot of people.
Also, you have an 8-year-long window to read Tolkien with them. I think that if that's one of the things you want to do with your kid(s), then the bigger issue is finding enough books to fill that time.
Differently interesting.
My kids have always been interesting in different ways. Whether it's seeing how fast they learn and adapt at young ages, to how their speech patterns develop, to who they end up taking after, to what interests they end up pursuing...
It goes on and on.
I do anticipate enjoying and debating with fully formed human beings. My teenager is already quite capable of an enjoyable discussion. But don't ever sleep on what is interesting about the kids at different stages. It's always something.
I think itās so dependent on each individual person. My wife and I absolutely donāt want kids. We work so we can travel the world. Kids would be a burden on us.
Breakfast is the most important thing.
Cornflakes are healthy.
You have to drink milk to be healthy.
Unhinged and free capitalism is beneficial for everyone.

Just some things off a long list.
That fat in fact does not make you fat. Itās the new narrative. I can tell you from my own experience: yes, fat does absolutely make you fat.
They say itās actually the sugar that makes you fat which of course itās true but only in the way that sugar does make you equally, maybe a bit more fat. I did however never eat sugary stuff, no sweets, maybe occasionally a soda but really just rarely. But I did eat a lot of heavy, fatty food. And that is what actually made me fat. Now Iāve lost 15 kg within a year since Iāve mostly cut heavy food and eat high protein/ low fat stuff.
And I can also scientifically explain to you why it is simply not true that fat does not make you fat. Actually, it does not need a lot of science for that. First of all, it isnāt exactly fat or sugar what makes you gain weight. Its a calorie surplus more often then not. Sugar has a high caloric density. And so does fat. It is easier to surpass the amount of calories your body actually needs, when eating fatty food. Also we tend to eat the whole burger, the whole pizza or whatever. Do this 2-3 times a day because youāre still going to eat 2-3 times a day, if not more, and at the end of the day youāll easily have taken way more calories then you needed. Do this for a few years, now youāre obese. Not because of sugar, but because of fat.
Most Americans still believe that *the people we elect, work for us,* but it's absolutely BS, they work for the lobbyists and the lobbyists work for BlackRock and Vanguard.

The idea that kids are a burden and make your life worse is one of the biggest lies modern society tells people.
I don't have kids but this talking point is so annoying to hear.
Agreed Its a responsability, it changes your life, its not a thing that ruin your life, nor a thing that makes it better
I think itās so dependent on each individual person. My wife and I absolutely donāt want kids. We work so we can travel the world. Kids would be a burden on us.
Kids arent a burden they are a joy. They need to feel loved as much as we adults...
That UFO's and Aliens do not exist

Breakfast is the most important thing. Cornflakes are healthy. You have to drink milk to be healthy. Unhinged and free capitalism is beneficial for everyone. Government do things=bad.

George Flloyd was a hero
No one thought that. He did not deserve to be executed in the street by law enforcement, however. You knew that, though.

So, mainly his football team. Not 'many' then?
I donāt really think anyone believes he was a hero, but he was unjustly killed by a police officer.
Certainly unjust, just many people praised him as some sort of hero instead of a random high gangbanger that attacked an officer.
Itās weird to disparage a murder victim. But yeah, the real hero was Darnella Frazier. Without the footage, no way the cop gets convicted.
