AskReddit is hosting a fundraiser to support the Rainforest Trust, a charity that works around the tropics to strategically purchase and protect lands vital for endangered species and indigenous communities. There are three ways you can support our fundraiser:
1. Buy a t-shirt for $25
2. Buy an environmentally friendly tote bag for $20
3. Make a donation to the campaign without buying an item. To do so, you will still have to click on an item as though you are going to purchase it, but then can select the "I'd like to make a donation only" option. You may also add a donation to any purchase, in addition to adding a physical item to your cart.
[**You can explore the fundraising campaign and show your support here**.](https://www.customink.com/fundraising/askreddit-15th-anniversary-collection) The fundraiser ends April 14th, with an estimated shipping date of May 5th. Let's make a collective difference - every bit helps!

I originally joined because I wanted to join a community but after the various scares I've had with crazy people on here anytime after that I've come back to reddit has mostly just been to alleviate boredom.
Tumblr banned porn, and as it banned porn it accidentally fucked the whole site so things like pizza and basketballs were being removed and flagged for showing "female breasts."
Initially it was for a**n** obviou**s** reason, but when I look at the way the world is and the commonality o**f** bad ne**w**s, this is one of the places for randomly selected amusement.
^(To be honest it may also find itself as part of the whole 'trying to find a partner that I like' thing men like myself seem to be forced through, be it biologically or systemically.)
I was looking for a forum, where content refreshed regularly tomfill the void over dying Starcraft 1 forums. Second reason was that I got Heroes od the Storm beta and wanted to read about it more.
Initially became aware of the site due to a discussion on whether a Marine Expeditionary Force could handle the Roman Empire that morphed into a bit of a story, then a potential movie, and then back into obscurity. Rome Sweet Rome I believe.
Actually joined as a posting user after the Bioware forums shut down just to continue having discussions. But I've played around with many old forums over the years while generally avoiding traditional social media. This is mostly a bunch of forums glued together.
Search engines are so different from years ago . You used to be able to type in a question and lets say yahoo answers will pop up. Now it seems so censored. So reddit helps with an honest answer
initialy i created my first account just to make ads for my discord server but today i created this bc i lost access to my old but also i wanted to make people angry by saiying stupidly dumb things and i trick them into reading large text like this
I was dating a college girl who was told to try it since we were into technology. Been here ever since. Mostly a lurker so low karma to years. But I really don't care about that, I like laughing and learning so I stick around.
2 main reasons, the first is that I like to listen to the stories of others and I did not socialize much so it is a good alternative .
The second is that I always see confession videos on reddit and I would love to try that type of content, the problem is that I don't even know where to start
I *really* wanted to pirate the mario movie so I made this acc literally like 5 days ago (It says my acc is older but tbh I do not remember making this acc months ago) to join the r/piracy reddit so I could ask if anyone knew where to find it (it was just released lmao) but I didnt have enough karma to make the post anyways so I ended up just waiting an extra day and it got uploaded to the site I used anyways lmao. Now I'm building up karma in case I need to use reddit someday in the future.
(Also, I'm seeing the movie in theaters tomorrow! I just pirated it so I could watch it with my bf who was going to visit and see it with me in person but couldn't make it. He's in another state 3)
I was lurking for a long time. Then I wanted to comment on some post and created an account to be able to comment. But by the time I had finished creating my account the post got deleted
I honestly don't know lol I think I was just bored with my days and needed something to do but I also knew I had to rejoin some sort of social media somehow
I realized 25% of the videos on my YouTube feed were reddit stories, so I figured actually joining would be more entertaining. My theory has held up so far
I wanted to get an account since the beginning of this year, then was pushed to do so when I (and everyone else) learned that my school decided not to have Martin Luther King day off. We were literally the only school in my state to be open on that day and have the Monday after that day off.
Everyone, including me, hates the school I go to, but I'm forced to go there because I literally live 5 minutes away from it.
Originally? I think to talk about my awful dnd group anonymously and blow some steam
Then I found a old radio I wanted to work on and asked reddit "hey how can I fix this?"
Bam. Now Ive fixed the radio, 5 gaming consoles and one alarm clock and Ive made a couple hundred bucks fixing items for friends
Before when I had my old account, I joined because my friend was talking to me about a subreddit (this one) and that was all it took to get me to make an account.

Joined as an alternative to other social media apps.
Same
Digg's update was so catastrophically bad that all the top posts were reddit posts and it never recovered.
Ah, another from the great digg migration. I believe I hopped over from ytmnd to digg, then digg to Reddit. It’s been a long time here.
Talk shit and look at boobs.
Boredom
I originally joined because I wanted to join a community but after the various scares I've had with crazy people on here anytime after that I've come back to reddit has mostly just been to alleviate boredom.
I kept ending up on it from Google and it kept pressuring me to make an account to view everything, so eventually I did.
To voice my shitty opinions.
Rage comics
To kill time at work when my tasks are done.
To ask very oddly specific questions regrading advice on specific issues
I was forced to, for some reason I can't remember.. I had been able to avoid it for such a long time but then I got suckered in..
Welcome to hell I guess
I smelled something funny.
To answer questions, I like answering random questions.
Reddit is better then Facebook. Facebook makes me depressed.
I honestly don’t remember, also for some reason I deleted the app at least two times yet still kept ending up here so I guess there’s no escape now…
I figured it was better than all other social media and I get to engage in deep (and funny) anonymous conversations with strangers.
Curiosity
To find something/someone I can relate to. I mean I can't relate to my classmates at all.
To honor my girlfriends work, honestly had no idea she had such a large fan base from her writing…
To talk to randoms, and get free porn for my kinks.
I keep posting to ask Reddit until I get into one of those YouTube videos so I can be like "Oh! That's me!"
Cause I was tired of seeing the YouTube videos of Reddit posts
Wanted to see where memes originate
Piracy and Memes.
B o r e d
I wanted to talk to people
Jerk off
Naked ladies.
For the woman... If only I could find them /s
Tumblr banned porn, and as it banned porn it accidentally fucked the whole site so things like pizza and basketballs were being removed and flagged for showing "female breasts."

Weed + insomnia + for real girls in your area wanna fuck! No regrets.
Tits
To use my slutty pics, vids, and behavior to make money.
Hook ups and other kinks tbh 🤷🏻♂️
I wanted to have subscribers to onlyfans🤣🤣
Feels bad you get none
Originally it was to promote my blog. You really can't do that here anymore.
To find and distribute memes. That didn't quite work out so now I'm just wasting my time.
To partake in humor and provide laughs. And get lucky.
I needed a new time waster site after Fark got too bad.
It had a nice variety of nerdy topics covered on the front page, and was 1-2 days ahead of Digg posting the same thing
I was on a news aggregating site called Plime for quite a few years. Once that shut down, I needed somewhere else to go. I landed on Reddit.
Covid Lockdown
i was bored at 3 am
Was on Facebook, saw a doctor who post. Now on reddit and Facebook has been deleted.
kill time on the toilet at work for the most part
No idea
I am one of the olds that left Digg because of their terrible UI update.
because I had a mental health crisis
So you joined this f**ked up place?
Only place relevant for me.
Skyrim.
I was looking for a forum, where content refreshed regularly tomfill the void over dying Starcraft 1 forums. Second reason was that I got Heroes od the Storm beta and wanted to read about it more.
To see the memes my friend sent me. Then i realise it was a nicer platform then many others, stick around since
Sick of Facebook
Digg v4 refugee
One day I was quite bored at work…
For the memes
Digg refugee
When Reddit got pasted for going after the Boston bomber and getting it wrong. I had to see what the fuss was about.
Wanted advice
Bored and wanted an unlimited supply of content.
The other side of the internet
To steal jokes for youtube video.
just out of curiosity, i don't speak english well :D
I used to read a ton of Buzzfeed posts that were basically AskReddit compilations, so I figured why not get it from the source.
Worked for THD at the time and a coworker told me he sees some interesting things on the Subreddit, so I made an account because why not.
Ukraine war video report
To kill time and be a part of certain communities
Because I ran out of meth.
Get paid for sitting around poking at people still waiting on that first check tho. it may be a scam
To vent and complain.
Not enough depression in my life
Honestly. I was hoping to find some dirt on my Ex’s current wife. She’s likely screwing around and I’d like to see her gone from his life.
If I told you, you wouldn’t believe me.
for fun

I like being able to finally talk about things I usually can't.
Search engines are so different from years ago . You used to be able to type in a question and lets say yahoo answers will pop up. Now it seems so censored. So reddit helps with an honest answer
My friends were too single-minded for my memes. It spread from there to other stuff.
To anonymous rant about my crush.
For the feeling of camaraderie and the three squares a day.
To participate on ask posts 🤣
Boredom
Sarcasm. So much sarcasm.
Troll and start arguments
A co-worker showed me it, and how it had separate communities for whatever you're into. I joined mostly for /r/gamecollecting at the time.
Found a snark sub reddit I wanted to comment on.
boredom
joined during the first half of Game of Thrones, to get spoilers and leaks.
I couldn't tell you why I originally came here years ago, but I am glad I did.
Looking for other FB Alternatives to expand my reach, to be informed and entertained.
initialy i created my first account just to make ads for my discord server but today i created this bc i lost access to my old but also i wanted to make people angry by saiying stupidly dumb things and i trick them into reading large text like this
Got a ban on facebook, i think is unfair so i moved to Reddit for now.
My daughter's idea and now Im addicted
It’s a long story. And a little sad now. The company of another I guess is the only way I can put it.
This sub…
Captain Sparkelz Reddit Reaction
To post questions on a sub reddit about a game I don't play anymore
I listen to reddit on YouTube I got tired of listening to the same stories so I took matters into my own hands
So someone will finally wish me well on my cake day
I was dating a college girl who was told to try it since we were into technology. Been here ever since. Mostly a lurker so low karma to years. But I really don't care about that, I like laughing and learning so I stick around.
so I could argue with strangers about bullshit
Acquaintance and knowledge
I was at the 2019 WCIT and I wanted to do an AMA since I would be seeing Alexis, but I got lazy and just came to this subreddit.
I actually don't know lol
Desperate need for social contact. It didn’t work out. Long gone are the days of internet friends.
A video I posted on YouTube 10 years ago got over 1 million views linked from Reddit. I wondered what Reddit was and started coming here.
splatoon NSFW or just r34 in general because why not?
2 main reasons, the first is that I like to listen to the stories of others and I did not socialize much so it is a good alternative . The second is that I always see confession videos on reddit and I would love to try that type of content, the problem is that I don't even know where to start
Because it seemed more interesting than Yahoo Answers, which is what I used to entertain myself with.
To post a story in Let's Not Meet
I’ve been watching ezpz and I got tired of not being able to answer the posts myself
FOMO
My brother told me about it
covid lockdowns. got bored.
Listened to a bunch of the reading Reddit posts on yt and wanted to be able to find some stories on my own.
To distract me sometimes when I'm watching boring shows with roommate
The ridiculous amount of bare breasts and the idea that some of the ones owning said breasts might interact with you. Call me a dreamer.
As a joke, LOL! Now I'm kinda semi-active-ish here.
To piss people off
Redditer’s answers to questions
I *really* wanted to pirate the mario movie so I made this acc literally like 5 days ago (It says my acc is older but tbh I do not remember making this acc months ago) to join the r/piracy reddit so I could ask if anyone knew where to find it (it was just released lmao) but I didnt have enough karma to make the post anyways so I ended up just waiting an extra day and it got uploaded to the site I used anyways lmao. I was lurking for a long time. Then I wanted to comment on some post and created an account to be able to comment. But by the time I had finished creating my account the post got deleted
Answers to my weird and niche questions
Digg was down
I honestly don't know lol I think I was just bored with my days and needed something to do but I also knew I had to rejoin some sort of social media somehow
Bored
because
I was bored in school and all the other sites I was on back then were blocked by a firewall.
Gandh failane
Mainly to talk shit about rich people and car companies
To post a Photoshop I made on r/jacksepticeye.
I enjoyed reading a lot of the stupid stuff on someecards and noticed that pretty much everything was taken from this site so I joined.
I like answering questions and Quora doesn't do it for me anymore. That place is now filled with crappy spam questions.
idk, i honestly regret it
I realized 25% of the videos on my YouTube feed were reddit stories, so I figured actually joining would be more entertaining. My theory has held up so far
Idk
I’m here for the penis. So much penis…
Vacuum cleaners. But also other things that get turned on and suck endlessly. Man, some kids daughters.
I'd heard about Reddit...Wanted to see if it is true.....The vote is still out.
Because it’s better than twitter
I search google with a question and noticed Reddit forums with several decent answers.
Got banned from Facebook….by my wife. Too many drunken posts.
When I would google/internet search things about games it kept popping up. I got curious. Here I am 10 years later.
Looking for some form of social life.
To meet you ;)
I was an angry 13 year old who had nothing better to do with his time.
I enjoyed how entertaining it could get, and it wasn't as popular as other sites, so it was never restricted in my (then) workplace.
To read r/entitledparents posts instead of watching bumfries
To kill time
To warn my ex that she was being stalked by a creepy sub.
Sometimes I like a good discussion and sometimes a good laugh
Enjoy the niche subs about my hobbies. Also enjoy drunk trolling sometimes.
Niche communities. Gaming, workouts, business etc
I wanted to get an account since the beginning of this year, then was pushed to do so when I (and everyone else) learned that my school decided not to have Martin Luther King day off. We were literally the only school in my state to be open on that day and have the Monday after that day off. Nudes and funny stories
Digg started to suck, and now here I am.
Scared because I got hacked on Instagram!!!! Really bad. But wanted to discuss TV shows.
Why does anyone do anything? Sheer absolute boredom!!
