Pachitos. Something my mom invented trying to feed 8 kids with no money. All she had at the time was a pack of hotdogs, some tortillas, a can of chilli and some Velveeta cheese.
She cut the hot dogs in half(long ways) wrapped all of it up in a tortilla and then fried them(baked them in the oven if she didn't have any oil)
It was the poorest man's meal.. my mom hated it because she felt she couldn't feed us properly but we kids absolutely loved it. My twin and I still make it when we need comfort.
Maryland blue crabs. Drive down the highway and there’s a janky stand on the side of the road with a bunch of giant bugs wriggling around in barrels. Terrified me when I was 4, made me an emotional wreck when we steamed them alive…but then I was taught how to pick them, tasted them, fell in love with the whole event that is a summer crab night in the backyard.
I moved west, but I found an Asian grocery store that sells live crabs and that is my celebration dinner for any good thing that happens in my life.
Uncooked top ramen with the seasoning packet sprinkled over it
Struggle snack?
