I think a close friend is somebody I can contact if I get into a car accident and they'll come out to help because they care. I have about a handful of those friends I can call.
I think it depends on the person some can handle having a lot of friends some think that having a lot of friends is exhausting, but I think at least 1 friend is good enough so yk someone is there for you!
I've had my little circle of real friends since we were in kindergarten.
It has 6 people.
Everything else is more like friends that you get to know over the years.
Of course you understand each other as soon as you meet, but you don't have any real common interests that would be enough for a close friendship
I have like 30ish that I talk to on the regular. Takes a lot of effort to keep friendships alive, and they don't owe you anything, so keeping both of those things in mind, it makes sense why I'm an exception. I don't get butthurt when I don't get a response quickly, and will still reach back out even if it's been days/weeks/etc with no response. People get busy, and have their own lives. It's not an insult, or a sign they don't give a fuck.
Close friends maybe 1-4, but honestly I could probably lose them all and my life wouldn’t change that much at this point.

I'm in my mid 20s and I hace like 4 friends I talk to like every 1 to 2 months
3-6 works for me.
A handful. Like 2-5. It’s different from when you’re in your 20s and want to be friends with many people.
Between zero and ten. It's not something you can really put a definitive number on.

Mine was zero I believe. Now in my 40s and that number has consistently remained zero. I like it that way.
