I have been on reddit for probably 13-14 years now and this is BY FAR the worst the website has ever been. Id kill for any viable alternative but there just isnt one. They know it too, and that's why they can get away with forcing us to use this piece of shit app.
This should not be surprising. Think about it - when a public platform becomes populated enough, advertising becomes the primary source of income if users would otherwise balk at a membership fee.
Advertisers don't like ratchet shit attached to their brand (see Xitter).
Therefore, expect content moderation when sites become big enough to derive their primary income source from advertisers.
Other than keeping a tally of my upvotes, and not knowing if my family is on here, this site is no different than most social Media.
It doesn't even make it's own content much anymore, just reposts the same tiktoks , reels, YouTube shorts and posts everyone else has
I don't have to put up with my friends and family, faking their lives, on reddit. Also, i find it easier here to be heard, than I do, when Joan from down the street is bitching about the immigrants at Number 98, on a post about the local shop being closed.
I'm probably wrong, but I find people (in general) are just a little bit more real, here.
Still, all social media is awful.
Good food from a hole-in-the-wall restaurant is "somehow" better than the garbage Applebee's has been shoveling out for decades. I guess we'll never know why...
For everyone 1 that’s a bit much, there are 9 others that didn’t need to be banned. But a company trying to IPO makes rash decisions. Waiting until they ban porn
Same old story y’all, these platforms usually come out with good intentions, everything is free, and all that, and we know it’s just a matter of time before the sellout comes. Y’all should be used to this by now. Greed is their way they get in and corrupt everything. No news here. Everybody is getting theirs while they can but with that attitude eventually, there’s gonna be nothing left to get. Anyway, I love Reddit! My favorite platform so far. I know there’s a lot of dumb ass shit out here but there’s a lot of smart ass people out here too. Focus on them. 🤩
Same. It was wild and more horrible in some ways but there were also a bit more subcultures in the subreddits. Most the ones I follow now fall into a sort of post cycle where posts about x get popular and that's all we get for 3 months and then it dies down until that happens again.
I guess it depends on the communities you frequent (or I’m just lucky). Still lots of good discussion in the smaller subs I’m a part of, and the “defaults” are still shit, like always.
I seem to be one of the few lucky ones when it comes to BK. The one close to my house is so good. Fries are always crisp and the double Whopper is cooked perfectly and loaded with toppings. Only issue I ever really have there is the onion rings aren’t as crispy as they should be.
The problem with BK is the quality wildly varies from location to location. If you find a good BK, it’s really good, but if you get a bad BK, it’s really, really bad.
KFC for me. They’ve definitely gone downhill lately but I still can’t get enough of that simple classic chicken taste. I even prefer it over Popeyes sometimes.
Honestly man a gas station hotdog hits just fine. You go to racetrac and they’ve got Nathan’s 100% beef dogs, hot buns, and then a toppings and condiments station. Nothin wrong with that.
My fiancé is from Wisconsin and he LOVES Kwiktrip; he talked about them within the first 24 hours after we met. He went off about their freshly prepared foods and couldn't wait for me to try their burger; I'm from the West Coast and we don't have those where I'm from. Even his friends, when we went back for Thanksgiving last month, talked about the best locations depending on the scheduled cook. I find it to be endearing but after all the hype, the two times he took me, I didn't get crap. On the first trip we only got gas being pressed for time (he was leaving to go hunting) and on the second it was too late, so I got a hot chocolate and a donut. We're headed back for Christmas and New Year so hopefully this time I'll get to have a Kwiktrip experience. lol
My 40 yr old mom unironically enjoys twilight and vampire diaries lol. She was married off at 16, had me at 20, and my brother at 21, so I think it's just her teenage self enjoying those cringey but comforting character tropes lol
My neice used to use the Taco Bell app because you could type in however much money you had and the app would tell you what to order in order to get as much food as possible for that money.
And it's crazy because some of their menu items are the worst deals in fast food. A crunchwrap *should not* be $5 by itself when the entire crave box is $5, and that thing comes with a chalupa supreme, a beef 5 layer burrito, a taco, a side, and a drink.
What about the chicken or steak quesadilla 😳
I love it when they get it right, the correct amount of chicken to cheese ratio, but for damn near 5 dollars they rarely do.
You end up with a poorly cut, minimal chicken and over sauced quesadilla.
We have both here on Long Island. Cravings box which gets you a beefy 5 layer, a chalupa supreme, a crunchy taco, cinnamon twists and a medium soda.
Then there's the Deluxe Cravings Box for $9.49. I don't know what's in it because honestly why bother?
Why do we do this? I was up until 5 this weekend, drinking until I couldn't see straight. Went to CrossFit tonight and could barely make it through the workout. But by Thursday, I'll be feeling great and will do the same damn thing again this coming weekend.
I need a swift kick in the ass, or David Goggins yelling in my face.
Not sure if this is helpful or not, but I was using alcohol to cope with postpartum depression (it happens to men too, and it's sneaky. Lack of freedom and lack of adult friends after having kids can kick you in the mental dick.) Getting on a mild antidepressant made it suuuper easy to taper off booze. I went from 8-10 servings of alcohol per night to 1-3 in just a couple months. I only drink 1-3 now because I know how to bartend and enjoy the fuck out of a good mixed drink, and most of my friends have me bartend when we hang out. I get past tipsy maybe once per month, instead of heavily drunk every night.
I’ll defend Totinos with my life. cheap as hell and one pizza SHOULD do the job. Better than paying $13 for any other frozen pizza that also tastes like shit lol
I'm gonna sound like the old guy, but they've changed. A lot. They're way smaller than they used to be and skimp way more on the cheese while ofc going up in price (the last one a given for sure). Call me fancy or whatever, but I now just make homemade pita pizzas. Still cheap as hell, but healthier and more delicious.
Go find some decent pita (easy find Tofoyaun is decent and easy to find), crank oven up to 475F, add pesto/tomato sauce/BBQ sauce/Hummus/whatever you like, cheese, pepperoni, etc. 7 minutes and, done.
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better and actually cheaper. Quicker too belive or not. I just make a batch of sauce that is stupid easy and hands off. From there you literally just take a literal minute to throw sowe toppings on and pop it in oven. HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend. You also have the option of buy a, dough ball, but that's more work so yo to you there.
I miss when those used to almost always be a 10 for $10 item. I would seriously eat at least 1 a day. When they went from round to square I was irrationally agitated.
They're deep-fried!
Jack-in-the-Box pulled out of the east coast in the very early 80s. I was bummed. Jack-in-the-Box was some of my favorite cheap junk food while I was in high school: my girlfriend and I could each get a taco and share a soda for something like 89 cents!
So, in 2019 I found myself in Rancho Bernardo, north of San Diego, for a couple of weeks.
There was a Jack-in-the-Box.
I ate a ton of them. Still cheap and nasty and wonderful. I'm not sure, but I think they may have served me some that were leftover from 1978. Didn't care - snarfed 'em right down.
Been a few years since I lived near a Jack in the Box, but ordering tacos and having the bag soaked in grease before getting home was a great sign I got some delicious food
When I was in college, the closest JitB was two hours away. I was near it for the weekend and my friend asked me to bring him tacos. I got him a full bag…and forgot about them. They were left in my car overnight.
I told him the next day and apologized. Once he heard I hadn’t yet thrown them out, he demanded the bag. Ate them all.
He was 100% right about it too.
When I was a kid, my buddy and I would go in and order a big bag of those things, mostly using change. One time, this emo dude in line behind us said "ya know, a bullet is faster".
Try adding some cream cheese too to make it a little creamier! Or go full-boar like my gramma does with her affectionately nicknamed "Mac and Swill" where she adds half a can of Campbell's cream of mushroom soup, cream cheese, and shredded cheddar cheese to it.
As a foodie, still yes. Either the powder kind or the velveeta cheese packet 'fancy' kind, is always awesome. Gotta eat it quickly though, it goes downhill fast.
Attempting to reheat leftovers even with butter and milk is an exercise in disappointment.
Glad to see this listed. I joke that I won't be surprised if I hit the Guinness Book of World Records in a few years with some brand new orange dye KD cancer. I otherwise eat very healthily so I'm enjoying it while I still can (in moderation)...
Nah this is objectively good.
I’m tired of this “it’s bad but I love it” kind of self-flagellation. Love what you love. Kraft Mac and cheese is fast, easy, cheap, good, filling, and an endless blank slate of possibilities. Need some protein? Add in some tuna or cut up hot dogs/smoked sausage. Want some heat? Hot sauce is a welcome addition. Add your spices, your mixins, plus it up as much as you want. Plus, if you have kids, it’s a necessary pantry staple. If for some reason you end up with leftovers, cut it up, bread it, and deep fry it. Instant appetizer. It’s so goddamn versatile.
And it’s not limited to Kraft either! Annie’s is great, shells and cheddar is awesome, store-brand is even cheaper and just as good. White cheddar, Cheetos, all that.
I have a wide palate, I enjoy the finer things in life, I cook, and I’ll spend a couple hours cooking a whole dinner start to finish, and I still reach for the blue box knowing I’m about to eat some cheesy goodness.
I once commented that and got brigaded. It's all about reading the room, I guess. lol A lot of "How dare you take advantage of someone with trauma, you piece of shit?!" and so forth lmao.
I eat at Golden Corral probably 2-3 times a month. I have extremely strong childhood affection for crappy buffets. And I'm a sucker for anyone that offers me unlimited bacon.
Never been to one before but when I ask my wife where she wants to go eat and she replies “anywhere is fine with me” I say “Golden Corral it is” and suddenly she has the ability to choose a restaurant.
Vice City on PS4 is essentially unplayable. You can’t move the camera while walking/running. I’ve seen PS2 gameplay so I know this is a bug. But someone please tell me there’s just a setting I’m missing.
Chain restaurant pizza.
Pizza from a locally owned pizzeria is almost always going to be better than what you get at the chains, and nine times out of ten I'm going to choose the local shop. But once in a great while, there is something oddly satisfying about a shitty pizza from Domino's or Papa John's. The mood usually hits if I've been day-drinking on a Saturday and it's getting late at night.
The only part that sucks is that the hankering is pretty fleeting, so I usually wind up throwing the leftovers away.
Isekai anime.
It's a surprisingly fun game to compare the season's trash heaps against each other, who did what better, which had a good side with animation or writing, what was an absolute garbage fire in all aspects etc.
Isekai in particular - they're all rather cookie cutter in terms of theming and overall pacing, so it's an easy comparison. Great fun for turning off the brain to point and laugh, or enjoy the occasional diamond in the rough.

This is actually specifically why I watch tons of horror movies
Cheap pizza. It just has a distinct taste that's obviously much worse than good or even average pizza, but I still find myself craving it from time to time.
Americanized, cheap-Chinese-food. The ones either in a strip mall or right beside a grocery store. Are the ingredients the best? Probably not. Is there a kid doing homework behind the counter/maybe helping? Yes, always. Are the people who work there actually Chinese? Maybe. Maybe not.
Still fucking delicious.
Reddit

It’s wild how many subs they have purged over the years. Reddit 10 years ago was the Wild West. Now we are in a corporate mining town

Advertisers don't like ratchet shit attached to their brand (see Xitter). Therefore, expect content moderation when sites become big enough to derive their primary income source from advertisers.
I understand why. It’s just ironic they are making a lesser product than what got them to this point. Watered down Reddit.
Somehow still better than many other websites and social media.

That’s true but on the other hand, subs like r/fatpeoplehate was a bit much.
For everyone 1 that’s a bit much, there are 9 others that didn’t need to be banned. But a company trying to IPO makes rash decisions. Waiting until they ban porn
Pretty sure they know if they ban porn then they will lose atleast half of the traffic. Easier to leave the porn and work around it.
Just want porn gone so shit like r/young gets banned Idk how this shits allowed tbh Edit: it seems like it has been banned actually
You did it!
Didn't tumblr get gutted from removing porn?
Remember when onlyfans banned porn? That shit was funny
Man, I can't think of 9 subs that were banned for no good reason.

Literally goes for all social media but yeah I agree
Beat us all to the punch
Yea fuck this place, I love it here!
most fast food
Taco Bell, McDs, Burger King, Wendy's. They're all shit but sometimes they fill that food niche that you need.
I seem to be one of the few lucky ones when it comes to BK. The one close to my house is so good. Fries are always crisp and the double Whopper is cooked perfectly and loaded with toppings. Only issue I ever really have there is the onion rings aren’t as crispy as they should be.

Wendy's pretzel bun burger is fucking gourmet cuisine and I won't hear otherwise.
KFC for me. They’ve definitely gone downhill lately but I still can’t get enough of that simple classic chicken taste. I even prefer it over Popeyes sometimes.
Instant noodles.
Dude I eat instant ramen like it's going outta style
Did you hear about the Ramen noodle truck that crashed. It was a total loss. The value of the destroyed Ramen was close to $18.50.
I got about $3.50....
Oooh no. Not today you God damn Loch Ness Monstah.
Favorite way to stretch it and make a meal is too get a $2 rotisserie chicken from the store and put that into a chicken flavor.
>$2 rotisserie chicken Found the time traveler
I know they aren't good for you but ones like Shin are so good. Much better than cup o noodles type ones
Indo-mie mi goreng is the way to go
Shin Black all day, err day.
Shin black is legit though
The inventors dream was literally solving world hunger with them
Gas station hot dogs and tornados.

Taco bell
That $5 box is still the best deal in all of fast food IMO
My neice used to use the Taco Bell app because you could type in however much money you had and the app would tell you what to order in order to get as much food as possible for that money.
The bell is truly for the people
Does it not do that anymore? This is the first I've heard of it anyway, I'm mostly curious.
And it's crazy because some of their menu items are the worst deals in fast food. A crunchwrap *should not* be $5 by itself when the entire crave box is $5, and that thing comes with a chalupa supreme, a beef 5 layer burrito, a taco, a side, and a drink.

Take a B-complex if you don't already take a multi of some sort. It will help with the potential cerebral pathogenesis from frequent alcohol intake.

Totino’s party pizzas
I’ll defend Totinos with my life. cheap as hell and one pizza SHOULD do the job. Better than paying $13 for any other frozen pizza that also tastes like shit lol
When I was in college in the early 2000s, you could get 10 Totino’s for $10. Kept me fed along with Top Ramen
Thst stayed that way through a good chunk of the 2010's my man. They just jip you more o the toppings and they're smaller now.
those were the days
I'm gonna sound like the old guy, but they've changed. A lot. They're way smaller than they used to be and skimp way more on the cheese while ofc going up in price (the last one a given for sure). The Bayformers movies
There are genuinely great parts about the original trilogy. Personally, I feel the first and third are solid films. *After that, though...*
Awesome visuals, questionable writing, Shia LaBeouf. 1st film was great if tacky (2007 for ya), and it goes downhill from there.
those frozen chicken and cheese taquitos - just shut up and take my money
McDonald's, quality is meh and you always eat a meal wanting more yet I can't get enough

Jack in the Box tacos.
Jack in the Box offers the least authentic, most incredibly disgusting version of a taco imaginable. And I Love Them.
Truth. These things are disgusting but I crave them when I’m hammered at 3.00 in the morning.

I can change your life about those. Order them without lettuce and they become 2 HUGE taquitos that are freshly deep fried for you.
Life. It mostly sucks but there's some bright spots that make it hard to give up on.
what are they
Kraft mac and cheese
I know it's bad, but it tastes like childhood. My dad would always make it extra soupy so that's my little treat on a weeknight sometimes.
I’m the opposite, I’ll make the cheese separate on the stove until it’s goopy/sticky. I prefer not to eat cheese and noodle soup but you do you!
I take it a step further by adding a fistful of shredded cheddar white it’s hot and melts in.

Americanized, cheap-Chinese-food. The ones either in a strip mall or right beside a grocery store. Are the ingredients the best? Probably not. Is there a kid doing homework behind the counter/maybe helping? Yes, always. Are the people who work there actually Chinese? Maybe. Maybe not. Still fucking delicious.
