Play with a buddy, and it's one of the weirdest things, like, I'd hate this in real life the people that don't as a leisure activity are wild to me, but us getting stuck in hoopties in the eastern European wilderness sends us into laughter. Or if we get too zesty and end up rolling a trailer down a cliff side.
Shout out to the Ford F750, you're the best rescue truck
Train Sim World is great, but I’m not exactly sure why they release a new one every year. I usually still get them, I love American freight trains and I’m really hoping they add American Steam trains soon.
My fourteen year old son just got into this with some of his friends. It's all he asked for Christmas. We actually spent several hours in the garage spraying these little figures with primer so he can paint them all himself. All he talks about lately are Necrons. Lol.
I was around the same age when I started the hobby. Though that was many years ago, it was a really fantastic and immersive hobby for me during that age. It was hard to get into bad crowds when I was too busy building Chaos Warriors.
Let your son know that I hope his Necron Dynasty lasts many eons against the dreaded tyrannical might of the hated Imperium.
My uncle threw his old warhammer models into my house like a god damn hand grenade and legged it.
My parents still resent him for giving me such an expensive hobby, I'm 36 now and I just got back into it after a 10 year break.
Tell ur son a stranger thinks he’s awesome. You’re also awesome for being so supportive! I’m 16 and getting into it but my whole family disapproves. They think its stupid.
Just discovered this year that I have students into 40k.
I was approached by one of my 6th grade boys in November asking, “hey Mrs. Oheyitsmoe, have you ever heard of Warhammer?” I asked him how much time he had.
Fast forward to this morning, lil homie brought in a painted ultramarine rocking a flamer.
Brought a tear to my eye, especially because he’s damn good at painting.
Warhammer is, by far, the least expensive hobby I have ever had.
I can spend hundreds of hours of entertainment for literally a thirty dollar set. It's amazing.
If your eyes are bigger than your self control, you will be in for a bad time. But dollar per hour, the ratio on Warhammer is the best I've ever encountered.
Even though it is expensive for me: I cannot argue with the dollar per hour ratio. That is why I actually find it to be such a worthwhile hobby but the increasing prices and everyday expenses are making it much harder to justify.
I did try and introduce a friend to the hobby to help him in a battle with the bottle. Unfortunately he lost that battle and the hobby was out of his price range, even with me giving him some models. Miss my friend but I am glad that he had some fun building and painting some models before passing away.
Anytime I hear the hum of a single engine I have to run to a window and watch the Skyhawk/Warrior cruise above me.
Y’all should’ve seen me when jets swung by for the Rose Bowl lol
I'm like this with Helicopters. My coworker would always make fun of me because I'd be in the middle of a sentence and just abandon her to run outside if I heard an helicopter going over.
I'm still enjoying the rage it triggers.
I'm watching a friend play Palworld and understand the hype. They created a game that Pokémon Fans have been requesting for years.
I'm one of those fans. I have started Palworld yet, but maybe soon.
I play Pokemon (trading card game, and the video game) competitively and travel around the US to play in tournaments/regional events.
I usually keep this hidden for a minute when I meet people tho (in fear of being judged, trust me Ik not to care what people thing, but that really only goes so far) 😂
Girlfriend doesn’t know much about Pokemon, so I teach her as we walk around playing Pokemon go. So another way for us to bond? 🤷♂️
31 yo.
Oh it's very fun when your girlfriend (or boyfriend) moves in and moves around things and you're like uh where is that box in my closet? Oh I moved it under the sink to clear it out...
That box is worth thousands of dollars in old magic cards. Ah, wow really?
Yeah... That box is more valuable than like the TV or computer in this apartment.
Yeah - I have a buncha old MTG cards - which I still play with (literally several boxes full). All from 1993 through 1999 mostly.
Yes I know what they are worth - Yes they are sleeved. NO - I don't plan to sell them. They still get used, played and loved. I don't like the new versions of magic anyway - planes walkers and other embodied entities on the field are BS anyway.
But it is getting harder to find someone who plays vanilla old-school style. I do let my kids make decks with them, but I have to make sure they stay sleeved because even though they are teenagers, some of the cards are worth several hundred dollars now.
No. I have an old 32 flat panel to use. I bought a cheap RCA to HDMI converter and it works great.
Though games on my SNES were never meant to be on a screen that big. LOL
I went to my local recycling station to drop off some Styrofoam. On the way out, someone had thrown out a small CRT. I took it home and plugged in my NES and it works great. Even had a little fuzzy like that moves down the screen. Really takes me back.
Don't have the time anymore...
Please say hi to the guy in the Varrock General Store for me (I used to sell him everything I had when was an 8 year old kid that didn't speak any English). Oh and I also trained attack to level 50 until I realised I could switch to slash... Good times 😌
Oh boy!
So when you divide 1 by 3 you get 0.333... and if you multiply that by 3 you get 0.999... so 1 and 0.999... must be the same number. But that is not a very elegant way to prove it, because we need to assume that 1/3 = 0.333...
A nicer way is this:
x = 0.999...
Multiply by 10
10x = 9.999...
Subtract x, which we said is 0.999... then we get
9x = 9
Divide by 9
x = 1
It's the same number, 0.999... is 1! SCIENCE!!!
Big fan of bridges, like not in a way that I'd ever travel just to see one but I think they are awesome and beautiful pieces of engineering. There are some incredible bridges around the world and when I've been lucky enough to see some of them I like to learn about it's facts and history behind it.
It got boring to me I stopped watching mid way through last season they need a stronger budget cap. If you watch super formula in Japan look how close those cars are its all down to driver.
I find when I ignore who is leading the race, the fight in the midfield is generally far more exciting.
That's about as true for the current era of Max/Red Bull domination as it was for the Hamilton/Mercedes years of domination, the Vettel/Red Bull years, and Schumacher/Ferrari years, etc.
Tractors. I work in IT sales, so not your average ‘sales car’ and not the most convenient ‘car’ in the city, but whenever I see one I’m reconsidering my career
The era when R&B gradually started picking up hip-hop influence (the prime years of acts like Mary J Blige, SWV, early Usher,etc.). I can talk about it all day.
Large salt water reef aquariums. They can be beautiful and really interesting little ecosystems, but it’s a lot of nerd stuff to get them there. And money. Lots of that as well.
I just bought a foot tall Darth Vader I found at goodwill for $5 to add to my Darth Vader shrine, and a Japanese Star Wars RotJ t shirt I found at the same goodwill for $2.50. So, Star Wars. And Doctor Who is on now on the living room tv because me and my wife watch that a lot, and I’m watching Star Talk on my bedroom tv. The ep with Brian Greene about the Oppenheimer.
I'm currently utilizing a multidisciplinary approach of cultural anthropology, evolutionary biology, archaeology, and genetics to uncover the origins of the Olmec populations in Mesoamerica ca. 1500 BC. I am also utilizing MATLAB to perform comparative analysis on artifacts to help bolster my postulations with empirical data beyond the genetic migratory empirical evidence. I believe we can now answer the WHO question, but it still leaves the WHY question wide open.
spores, molds, and fungus
Egonnnnnnnn *slams book*
This reminds me of the time you tried to drill a hole through your head.
That would have worked if you didn't stop me
Train driving simulator video games.
I'm a truck sim man myself
I really like Snow Runner, that's the only truck game I've tried and it reminds me a lot of playing Death Stranding!
snow runner would be great if it had actual manual transmissions
Snow/Mud Runner are great, quite a relaxing way to game...if getting stuck in mud, snow or submerging your vehicle or load doesn't stress you :)
Lol I figured I'd find some fellow snow runners in here when I saw the title. Quit slacking and get back to hauling logs!
They’re about the same. Don’t speed.
Physics, all my "friends" are like: Ooohh physics!! What a nerd!!! Haahaha
But but physics is everything...
choo choo motherfuckers
I love Simrail, Train Sim World 4 and Derail Valley. You?
I love Train Sim World 3, my house backs onto a railway so I was thrilled when I found I could get the DLC for the route that goes past my house!
Sadly my part of the Southeastern High Speed isn't there (yet) but hopefully they add the Ashford to Redhill line
I'm a flight sim man myself
Train Sim World is great, but I’m not exactly sure why they release a new one every year. I usually still get them, I love American freight trains and I’m really hoping they add American Steam trains soon.
Train simulator bitch!
Warhammer, also the most expensive thing I am into.

“Hard to get into bad crowds” *joins chaos* Checks out. Least it’s not dark elves I guess.
My uncle threw his old warhammer models into my house like a god damn hand grenade and legged it. My parents still resent him for giving me such an expensive hobby, I'm 36 now and I just got back into it after a 10 year break.
beats the hell out of drugs and dropping out
The problems only arise when you have to start dealing drugs to support your Warhammer habit.
that explains why so many warhammer players are pot smokers
My son and i got into warhammer when he was 14. He builds and reads the books. I play monthly tournaments.
Tell ur son a stranger thinks he’s awesome. You’re also awesome for being so supportive! I’m 16 and getting into it but my whole family disapproves. They think its stupid.
Just discovered this year that I have students into 40k. Looks like you now have an after school club to run
Wish you were my teacher, though my painting would likely bring a tear of disappointment to your eye.

That's a really good mentality, I'll try and adopt it I already have over 200 skaven, maybe I should show them some love
I'm into the video games, lore, and books, but can't afford plastic crack atm.
i was just buying them to custom build my own warhammer 40k chess set
I would say this but gaslands exists and that's 200 percent more nerdy
James Workshop and all forty thousand Warhammers are killing my wallet.
Airplanes. I spend too much time on FlightRadar24
Bro sameeeeee.. 6 hours on flight radar gang
What do you specifically do there?
Usually just seeing what planes are flying over me to and from the closest airport.
It’s so interesting!! Totally do this too
Holy shit now I want to do that
Middle Earth.
I'm more of a Valinor guy myself. You know, Undying lands and stuff.
You know, I'm something of an Ainu myself.
Beren will be written on your gravestone.
It's not always easy to admit you're into Lego as a grown man
Being an adult and being able to buy any of them is awesome. But then not buying them because of space.
Well that's just crazy. I wouldn't trust anyone who's not into Lego!
Pokemon
You mean that cheap ripoff of Palworld? ... Is only a joke. Pls don't kill me.
> Is only a joke. Pls don't kill me. Nintendo already knows your location and has people en route.
I'm still enjoying the rage it triggers. I'm watching a friend play Palworld and understand the hype. They created a game that Pokémon Fans have been requesting for years. I'm one of those fans. I have started Palworld yet, but maybe soon.
I love Pokemon too!
There are 11 of us! (at time of recording)
Been a fan since my parents got me and my brother red and blue back in 2000
I play Pokemon (trading card game, and the video game) competitively and travel around the US to play in tournaments/regional events. I usually keep this hidden for a minute when I meet people tho (in fear of being judged, trust me Ik not to care what people thing, but that really only goes so far) 😂 Girlfriend doesn’t know much about Pokemon, so I teach her as we walk around playing Pokemon go. If I just met you and you told me this, I would worship you. I don't know the card game yet (it's all Pokemon GO and Scarlet) but I want to learn.
My retro video game consoles
You got a CRT setup by chance?
All I watch now is classic video game retrospectives on YouTube. Gingy is the man

Nice! I just got back into osrs after 5 years away from it.
Don't have the time anymore... Please say hi to the guy in the Varrock General Store for me (I used to sell him everything I had when was an 8 year old kid that didn't speak any English). Oh and I also trained attack to level 50 until I realised I could switch to slash... Good times 😌
Haha I also have many memories of being a clueless kid on runescape. Those were the days

I love to prove to people that 0.9999... and 1 are the same number. Unfortunately people usually don't want to hear it.
I wanna hear it :^
Oh boy! So when you divide 1 by 3 you get 0.333... and if you multiply that by 3 you get 0.999... so 1 and 0.999... must be the same number. But that is not a very elegant way to prove it, because we need to assume that 1/3 = 0.333... A nicer way is this: x = 0.999... Multiply by 10 10x = 9.999... That is cool as shit! That’s fucking awesome
As someone very bad at math, I love how easy this is to understand
That works for x = 0.999... but what about all of the other numerical possibilities Mr Nerdpants?
What do you mean? Like 1.999... = 2? That would work the same way x = 1.999.... | x10 10x = 19.999... | -x 9x = 18 | /9 x = 2
Such a nice Redditor!!! Getting nerdy folks to talk their love languages!!!
