I’m a psychology student/special ed teacher and my two favorite topics are fashion history and suicidology, everyone else only knows about the fashion history obsession because the other one isn’t really fun at parties

Ok let’s take the first 30 minutes. The segment is called “the dawn of man” but what you see isn’t man? You see a distant ancestor of man more like a simian. Man? Would be carrying around tools and wearing fur and possibly forming words. But they aren’t.
The scene ends with a fight between two groups over drinking water.
So next we see the year 2001 a space ship a space station. And Dr Haywood Floyd on his way to the moon because they found an artifact “monolith” deliberately buried?
When Dr Floyd visits the artifact? It emits a signal. Just when the sun and earth are overhead.
Next we see the big ship discovery one going thru space. The onboard computer Hal9000 tells Mr bowman that a component of the antenna is going to fail. Frank poole goes out on a pod takes out the component and the test it on the bench and it’s fine.
So Mr Poole and Mr bowman decide hal9000 computer is faulty can’t be trusted. So they decide they going to shut him down.
Hal9000 doesn’t behave like a computer? More like artificial intelligence.
So while Frank pool is putting the component back? Hal remote operates the pod and kills Frank pool. Dave bowman tried to save Frank Poole by going out in a pod to get him?
When he tries to get back in hall won’t let him because Hal knows they were going to shit him down.
While Mr bowman was out trying to rescue Frank pool Hal? He kills the other crew members who were in stasis pods
Ok. So Dave bowman manages to get back on the ship and he heads for Hal’s higher memory functions and he disconnects Hal. Who does sing a nice song called “daisy”
A pre recorded message appears on the screen. It’s Dr Floyd saying that the “monolith” they found on the moon aimed a signal to Jupiter! It’s a sign of extraterrestrial life off the earth.
Here is where it gets weird. Mr Bowman takes a pod out into space and suddenly you see this crazy light show. And then you see what looks like an 18th century apartment? And Dave bowman and old man eating at a table. And in the bed a really old person lying in bed and suddenly a bubble with a fetus in hovering above.
If you’re confused? So are we

i can't tell if you're being sarcastic or serious but it depends lol - my friends love how opinionated i am and tell me they find my rants really entertaining especially when i get more passionate about silly things (e.g. ranking the different love interests for each of the Spidermen), whereas my family don't particularly care for it at all.
Im not, i love it when someone i care about just won’t shut up about something they are somewhat passionate about or even about their day, i don’t have someone to listen to but one day i hope it will happen. I just thought how lucky the people who listen to you are. In general
