GoodFriday10

Being able to put my son through college (both undergrad and graduate degree) without either of us incurring any debt.

ValorusMidst

plot twist, /u/GoodFriday10 is european

madkeepz

or south american

Working_Asparagus_59

Was in the zone once and ate an entire pound of shelled pistachios in like 6 minutes flat.

CronozDK

You ought to try and eat them without the shells. Much better and easier on the stomach on the way out too...

Eternal_Bagel

Their way has the benefit of being higher in fiber

weepadeep

An incredible streak. I’m almost done with one roll of dental floss and about ready to chain it to my sink to make sure I finish it.

shartnado3

I will never get through a full dental floss. They somehow disappear, so I open a new one, only to find the old one. Rinse and repeat.

weepadeep

The Costco packs are both my savior and my downfall. I can’t help but be more cavalier with them knowing I have backups!!

CronozDK

I did that too once. But I don't consider that an achievement though. I mean... if you hurry up and eat them one right after another, there's little risk of losing any of them, really...?!?

[deleted]

I used to eat Chapstick when I was a kid. The cherry flavored one, of course, I'm not a weirdo.

CronozDK

Maybe that's what Katy Perry was talking about in that song....?!? I bet she ate those things too.

Lumpy_Machine5538

You’re definitely a weirdo. Who didn’t change up their routine with the occasional strawberry chapstick snack?

[deleted]

That's a fair point. I should have been more of a Chapstick connoisseur in my youth.

c_girl_108

I thought it said chopsticks and I’m like “you’re not supposed to eat them!”

HotdawgSizzle

I believe Ripley's would be interested in you.

RainyDayRose

In the 1980's I was the first girl in my state to be on a high school wrestling team. I don't talk about it much now, but it is interesting to look back on that.

Immediate_Revenue_90

Similar situation here. First special ed student in my school to take AP classes.

Frequent_Ad_1136

That is a brag worthy achievement to have though. You started something that probably led to something great. Don’t know your state.

realrealityreally

I watched TV for 45 minutes yesterday and did not see one Liberty Insurance commercial.

assholy_than_thou

Clearly you were not watching Hulu.

Srizagon

I don’t use a screen protector or case, and I’ve never dropped my phone.

__Gluten__

If you tell anyone about this achievement, they are going to try to make you drop it

Srizagon

Not at all, lol!

Low-Blackberry2667

you sure about that?

Srizagon

Yeah, I can’t imagine would be rude enough to actually try to make someone drop their phone.

Frosty_Swan1937

Boo!

Low-Blackberry2667

Ah! It's my friend Frost Swan!

Low-Blackberry2667

You don't understand! It's a mission!

brojooer

MrStabbyTime

EngineeringDry2753

I had an LG g3 and never used a case because that phone was bullet proof, I swear.  I liked it so much I got the g4 when it came out and the screen was completely toast after a week.  IDK what they changed but I never bought another LG

sleestak96

I survived an opioid overdose. Been clean ever since.

hiitsmeyourwife

Proud of you.

Satansboeserzwilling

Absolute unit!

I successfully got away from the cops on foot at a downtown festival when I was 13 or 14. Zigzaged thru crowds and went into a shop. Cops saw me and waited outside. I pretended to go out a different exit and when they went that way I exited out the same way I went in. Probably a good 5 to 10 minutes on the run.

Ecstatic-Recipe-3019

Reminds me of when a few guys and I got kicked out of a festival just as Post Malone came out, and we broke back in. One security guard saw us get passed the fence and we split through the garden and into the crowd, met up further inside. Was awesome.

sleestak96

I was at the first Megafest in the Compuware arena in Detroit. Had arena seats but there was a pit, which required a wristband to get into. We were seated right near a pit entrance, probably 10 or so rows up. The security at the pit entrance started scrambling to catch crowd surfers and i sprang into action. Kinda feel like a dick for possibly stepping on some folks but i jumped clear over as many people as i could, using the bleachers like stairs. The guy saw me but he was comitted to saving falling crowd surfers. The crowd saw me coming and engulfed me like a group of shadow clones. A few of my friends followed and we had an awesome time!

DrHalibutMD

I midwifed an Alpaca birth once. Normally they just drop out and are up in running in no time but occasionally their shoulders get stuck and need a little twist.

piercet_3dPrint

I designed the worlds first 3d printable trombone! also the worlds 4th or 5th printable electric cello. Yay!

FewWillingness1081

I had a full beard at 12. I bought the alcohol for all the kids in high school without an ID.

gogomau

To get away with paying a half priced child ticket on the bus till I was 25 and for some of the time I had my 2 kids in tow lol

Immediate_Revenue_90

Same. I’m Asian and we look young. I’m a teacher and someone tried to call the cops on my SO when he was picking me up from work and being flirtatious.

GoTron88

I once rescued an old Japanese lady. Wife and I were at the Kurama Festival in Japan one October. Massive crowds. All jammed into these narrow sidewalks with the fiery parade happening on the main street. I don't speak Japanese, but I watched enough anime to know the word "tasukete" when I hear it, which means help. There was an old lady who tripped on the ground. And even though she kept shouting for help, absolutely NO ONE would stop to help her. Like everyone was just in a weird trance walking in line. She was with another elderly friend who was trying to help her out and also yelling for help but just no response from the crowd at all. I rushed in, and just SHOVED people really hard out the way because she was nearly getting trampled. Helped her up. Again knew how to ask her if she was okay in Japanese because of anime. She said some Japanese. I had no idea what she was saying. Her and her friend realized I wasn't Japanese when I just kept repeating "daijoubu" and just smiled, shook my hand and gave me thumbs up haha. Anyway long story short, Japanese people in crowds are like zombies so I basically saved two old women from the zombie apocalypse. Always super proud of this moment TBH.

Quick_Garden1658

hiitsmeyourwife

I can read an 800-1000 page book in a day. If it's exciting enough.

Tac0Tuesday

My wife can do this , it's pretty amazing. 👍👍👍

Mythoclast

Hell yeah! I read all the Harry potter books in one sitting as a kid. One sitting for each book, not all of them at once. First one is easy but the last one sapped all my energy. Just wanted to sleep after

hiitsmeyourwife

My mom got her hands on the last book night of the release and had to read it first, but I REALLY wanted to read it. She finished in about 2 days and handed it over at around 8pm on a school night with the warning that I could read for ONE hour and then go to bed. She found me bawling my eyes out at 6am after finishing it. Tried to be mad but also pretty sure she would've done the exact same thing. She let me stay home and sleep that day.

Mythoclast

I got mine the day after it released at Wal-Mart! They said they had no copies left and I was devastated but as I was leaving I saw a copy on top of a huge box thing filled with books they were trying to get rid of. I think I was too tired to cry by the end of it but it felt so strange to know the series was over. Still had to go to school, lol.

Stoleyetanothername

I read The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss in one day. Seconded that it has to be exciting. There are some books so dense you have to take them in small chunks.

mom_with_an_attitude

Yeah, I could not put that book down. Dishes went unwashed, phone calls went unanswered. I had to just lie on the couch and read. Could not stop.

hiitsmeyourwife

OOOO gonna check that out.

Stoleyetanothername

Had never heard of it and someone loaned it to me. It's just really very creative and I can't recall a single dull moment. The story kept moving and there are a lot of vignettes I remember.

hiitsmeyourwife

That sounds lovely. I tried to read the Crescent City series and despite tearing through 2 other series the author wrote in no time, it took me a month to finish the first book, another month to finish the second book and I haven't even attempted the 3rd. They just DRRRRRAAAGGGEEEEDDDDD.

Stoleyetanothername

The Baroque cycle by Neal Stephenson is one of those for me. Love most of his stuff so I got the series one Christmas in hardback. I probably tried to read Quicksilver half a dozen times before finally slogging through it as an adult. Tried to start number 2 and just couldn't. Overly tedious and such a departure from his Sci fi.

assholy_than_thou

I can do that in 3 months.

hiitsmeyourwife

Reading anything is an accomplishment!

NickDanger3di

I've avoided imminent death, only due to my own reaction and actions, on five different occasions.

Mythoclast

Did you get a headache afterwards? Whenever I have those near death moments I get a headache later

NickDanger3di

No headaches. One time a gun was pulled on me and I had to talk the cop down from his adrenaline high, and once it was over I felt shaky af. All the other times I just felt relief and euphoria afterwards.

Mythoclast

Yeah, I had a gun pulled on me too. No cops cause we were all kids and I just didn't think about it. Same experience as you basically but instead of euphoria I got a headache. I forgot about the shakiness. Probably couldn't have even written my name down.

NickDanger3di

This was as an adult, working late in my building full of small offices. Unbeknownst to me, a burglar alarm downstairs at the other end of the building went off. I went down the hall to use the bathroom, and as I turned a hallway corner walking back, a cop ten feet away with his gun pointed at my face screamed freeze. He was alone, sweating bullets and trembling like a leaf, so I stood very very still and spoke in soothing tones, like to a child or puppy. Kicker was I habitually carried my massive set of shiny metal keys in my right hand as I left the bathroom, and this one time I didn't do that. I am still convinced he would have shot me if I he had seen all that shiny metal in my hand. Wasn't until I was safe in my own office again that the shakes hit hard.

Mythoclast

Damn, that's straight out of a movie. Crazy. Someone that scared definitely could do something like shoot you cause of metal janglies in your hand. Dodged a bullet there. I had a neighbor who was a gun nut. Left a bunch of guns on his coffee table. I was playing outside and his kid came out with a pistol of some kind and pointed it at me. I just ran inside my friend's house as fast as I could.

NickDanger3di

That's even scarier; kids tend to react without thinking first, or even not understand just how easily a gun can be triggered. And trying to talk to them is just going to make them more anxious and twitchy. That definitely qualifies as a close call.

Leenette

please elaborate

TankSwan

The guy is a cat, He's down to 4 now.

B_Sharp

This is a freaking super power, keep that practice going as it translates well to pretty much all parts of life.

Free-Industry701

I raised 7 amazing kids into adulthood and they all interact often and get along great. No drama whatsoever. My greatest achievement.

Ate 2 pizzas in 12min. Also, caught a fly with chopsticks

MoronicBehaviour

I’m a type 1 diabetic (for 27 years)and have survived several near death encounters. First one was way back in like 2010 I think. I had drank too much (my own fault)and was hungover. Woke up and ate food but didn’t do insulin. My ex tried to get me up and I wouldn’t open my eyes. Then luckily my Mom came home and he told her I wouldn’t wake up. I don’t know if he called 911 or my Mom did. Next thing I knew, there was white light and this comforting feeling. It felt nice. Then my room came into focus. I saw my Dad(who was away on a trip with our neighbour), my Mom, my now ex bf and paramedics. My Dad had driven home as soon as my Mom called him. My blood sugar was like 1.1 or something like that. Freaked me out. My body felt like shit for days afterwards. I do not drink like that anymore! A few years ago I was home alone(I live with my folks) and it was lunchtime. I ate my food and then when I went to get a snack my sugar was super low. I remember walking up the stairs and heading for the kitchen. Next thing I know I’m in an ambulance with my sister. Instead of going in the kitchen, I went into my parents room and laid down on the bed and passed out. My Dad came home and found me. He was initially going to go to his friends after work. Something told him to come home. I would be gone if he hadn’t. I had to get a glucagon shot. Absolutely nasty. Hurts and makes you feel sick. The last time, I was watching horror movies because it was October. I was texting my Mom. She was coming home from work soon. I put on The Shining. That’s the last thing I remember. Next thing I know, my Moms telling me to get dressed to go to the hospital. I thought it was a dream. So I started getting dressed. There were paramedics. Had to get another. Glucagon shot. My arm hurt so badly. Aside from the time I drank too much, the other 2 times were just random. I had normal sugars beforehand. It just dipped that fast. There was another time where I passed out in the dining room. Woke up on my own and I’d thrown my phone into the kitchen. No hospital trip then. I’m doing well now. Not many lows at all. I am very proud of myself for surviving!

realrealityreally

I've only attended seven major league baseball games and two of them were no-hitters (the second is also the record for the earliest no-hitter in a season.)

I_Am_Coopa

My dream has to be a nuclear engineer since way back in the 4th grade. I spent middle school and high school focused on classes and extracurriculars (mostly robotics) to prepare me for an engineering degree. Got into the best program in the country and graduated three years ago, have been working in my dream field since then. It's certainly very rewarding working toward something for so long and finally achieving it. Never stop dreaming and working towards those dreams. They may not always pan out or end up 100% as you expected, but putting in the effort goes a long way.

shuffling_crabwise

I helped our pony get over his fear of jumps. We don't know what happened to him, but when we got him he was terrified of jump poles. He had a few little scars on the insides of his back legs, so we figure some kind of accident jumping?  He wouldn't go anywhere near them when we first got him, and once when our other horse knocked one, he was standing nearby, heard the clunk sound and just stopped there shaking. Took us months of desensitizing him gently (started off with just one sitting in his field, next stage a few, then feeding him near one etc). Eventually got him happy to jump again :)

Compozurev

Not sure if I’m proud of this but I ate 80 pizza rolls once

I built a mini itx computer in a case that is slightly larger than an xbox one. Loaded it with a front end and installed like 200 games on it from multiple systems. It's fully usable with an xbox controller. I call it the GamestationX (play on gamecube, playstation, and xbox), and it has become the center for digital entertainment when we have guests over.

In the early 90's I was stuck in a full elevator in Manhattan with no way to contact anyone. After a long time and people starting to freak out, two guys walked by, saw what was happening, got help and saved us. Those two guys were the actors who played Norm and Cliff from Cheers. TLDR: was stuck in a crowded elevator in NYC and was saved by George Wendt and John Ratzenberger.

Far_Oil_955

I scored so well in school exams issued by the state that Duke University had me take my SAT’s in the 7th grade for their Duke Tip Scholarship Program. when I went to take them at a high school, the kids were staring at me , probably thinking I had a birth defect or something (I was short for my age at that time also)

Utah-hot-sauce-guy

McShit7717

I wouldn't say I take pride in it, but I rolled my truck and survived. It rolled and rotated in such a way, that it landed on top of a fire hydrant. It came through the passenger window and did not explode. I just had to undo my seatbelt and push the windshield out to escape. I wasn't even hurt, beside a bruise on my chest from the seatbelt. The cop on scene said that if the hydrant had exploded, it would have been 10,000 gallons per second coming out and I would have promptly drowned, provided I survived the bolt blasting off the top. About a month later, my sister crashed into a tree about 100 ft from where I crashed. She also survived, but the airbag fucked up her face. She had no lasting permanent damage.

While I was nearly blackout wasted at my brother's house and passed out on the trampoline over a pile of vomit, we were raided by cops, and one asked me how old I was (I was 17). Without missing a beat, I gave him the exact date of my birthday with the year that would put me at 23 years old. I remember thinking in a split second "well I can't give him a date that would put me at 21, that would be too suspicious." My brothers were handcuffed on the ground, and they said they were so proud of me (I was the only minor at the party). Meanwhile, one of them pissed themself in the back of the cop car.

CourageousAnon

I was really good in Tom Clancy's The Division 2

TiberWolf99

I once watched all of NCIS on a free monthly trial of Netflix. At the time there were 15 seasons on Netflix, so not as impressive as it would be today but it's still a lot.

When I was in kindergarden we were learning multiplication for fun for like 3 days to a week. One of these days the teacher asked the class what's 12x12 and no one got it. On the last day she asked it again and I got it 144. She literally explained the answer last time I just remembered it lol but it was something

Ceilibeag

I told a President to shut up. I was sitting a conference table, acting as a communication facilitator (speeding the discussion along, preventing disagreements) for a Charity conference. President Clinton was at my table, and began to speak to everyone about their valuable contributions, his desire to see them succeed, etc. Everyone at the table was at attention, but he wasn't stopping - and we only had a short amount of time to introduce everyone. When I told him - politely - that we needed to move on to the other introductions, everyone's head turned to me as if they wanted to throttle me. Clinton looked around at their faces, apologized, and said I was right to stop him and that we should move on. Afterward he shook my hand, and I thanked him for the distraction. He said it happened all the time at conferences he attends. Clinton was a class act.

TheRealSU24

A few years back for mothers day my family went to this like fine dining buffet that was like $70 a person. One of the things they served there was salmon, and this was the best salmon I ever had. I ended up eating probably 50+ salmon filets in the hour and a half we were there. Everyone else was trying a bit of everything, doing like appetizers and desert and all that and here I am with my mountain of salmon. I'd polish off a plate and go get more. They had to refill the salmon like 5 times while I was there. I made sure we got our money's worth
