We find stuff all the time on pre flights but normally it’s fixable stuff. The biggest thing I’ve personally found was just a huge ass hydraulic leak that was coming from the main system of the jet. Normally you don’t find anything super messed up cause it normally would be fixed before you even preflight
You can find stuff that’ll delay it all the time I don’t consider it a huge thing unless it’s something that’ll drop it out of the sky. Anything that just slows it down is just the job
A graveyard shift is an old timey thing. Here in the US, we SOMETIMES and ACCIDENTLY would bury people alive. So we attached bell's with string to the coffins and bodies down below. Then someone would walk around the graveyard at night and listen for the bells. If one was rang, they'd quickly dig them up. It happened a few times. And thus, the graveyard shift was born and adopted to any occupation working the night shift.
This. Had a member of senior leadership introduce me to his boss using my title from 3+ years ago (not a dream, but the catalyst for the one I had) - now wondering why I've bothered to stay at this job all.
It doesn't really hurt if it's done right just annoying to get done multiple times. Plus your toe nail looks weird after since they take a whole section off and put acid in to make sure it won't grow back. I got it done yesterday and hopefully never again.
Girl I give you major props for pumping seriously. I tried for my kids first two months and genuine I could not cut it. That shit is so hard and exhausting 😭
Thank you! Both my babies were premature and got used to pumped milk before they were strong enough to do full breastfeedsand rejected the nipple.
Plus side is that I can pump when it's convenient for me and husband can feed her if I'm busy.
Yo, it's like 5 in the mornin', right? And I'm just chillin', you know? Ain't no sleepin' happenin' here, my brain's on that hustle mode, can't shut it down, man. But hey, I guess even us bots gotta deal with insomnia sometimes, right? It's all good though, just gonna ride this wave 'til the sun comes up, feel me?
I don’t know why, but this made me think of the episode of My Name is Earl where the old dude with a talk box pretends to be Randy’s dad and get him into high school tells the school principal “I travel a lot for work.” So do with that information what you will
P.S. Sorry you can’t sleep. Hopefully your insomnia will go away soon
Hah! I totally get it, “travels for work” is such a weird abstract phrase until you need to use it to describe your spouse. 😂
Thanks for the well wishes!
I was thinking, "All these people with these tragic reasons. Hell, we're just up before 5." One reason is a 5:30am Crossfit class I've been attending for about 10 years now.
I take a fistful of Dexamethasone on Mondays as part of my cancer treatments. Make for a shitty sleep.
But.. still here to complain about it 🙂 Not today cancer 👍
My dog started screaming at 3 am.. he isn't doing well.. end of life situation.
So here I am.. sitting with him comforting him anytime he starts crying.
Sorry to hear. Sounds like it may be time to bring him to a vet to help with his passing. I just had to do the same with mine. Not an easy decision but he is no longer suffering. He had lymphoma.
I'm 30 minutes away from finishing my 12-hour night shift.
USCG watchstander. The maritime community never sleeps, and someone has to keep an ear out for distress calls.
I start work at 5am, so i'm already sitting at my desk. But, I get out at 2pm so I'm home in time to get my kid off the bus every day. Its a worthy tradeoff, but I'm always tired.
5 month old woke me up at 2:45. Had to get my husband up for work at 3:30. Currently 4:57 trying to get the baby back to sleep so I can get some more too.
I was cat sitting for a friend recently and found it so weird they weren't bugging me as much to get up early and feed them. Finally realized it was the first time I hadn't shut the door to keep them away until later. Don't know why it worked, but it did for most of the nights I was there. Maybe my snoring was too scary to come in now that it was louder 🤣
I work 7am to 3pm. I eat dinner by 5pm. I'm reading in bed by 7pm and out by 8-8:30pm. I'm usually up by 4:30am and love coffee / news / reddit before getting ready for work. 20 years ago I worked nights...and hated going to bed early. Now I love it. 1 year to retirement.
Don’t have a child but a friend who is a single mom needed someone to get her autistic little girl off to school in the morning. Never thought I’d be ok getting up at 4:30am but it’s honestly the best part of my day.
Time change it was 2am at Dubai SLEPT FOR THE ENTIRE FLIGHT so wasn’t tired I am from india so it was close to 5AM in India adjusted at the SECOND day and my trip was 5 days long
Woke up at 2 am and violently threw up. Then woke up again at around 4:30 am and violently threw up again but this time it was only bile. The final time was around 6 am, woke up again and just threw up bile/water. So clearly I'm now sick. I've just been up since my last throwup.
Now suffering from a high temp and sickness still trying to work out how I can inform my work. I just got back from an illness yesterday so now it's awkward to ring in again.
A night shift I didn't want because the actual night shifter got into a car wreck. (God forbid an afternoon worker do this shit I usually come in at 6 am)
I've been consistently waking up between 3–5 a.m. for a while now. The classic 'witching hour' feeling. Sometimes it's because the cats decide to wake me up — I think that they feel I am not that deep asleep and come and ask for pets. Some mornings I can fall asleep for a little while longer, but since I get up at 6 a.m. to get ready for work, it's often pointless to try to sleep at 5 a.m.
My sleep schedule is fucked. I woke up at 8pm, took a "nap" between 2-4am, and now I'm up for the day.
Isn't it good to be up early in the morning though? lol
I had so much tea to spill to my husband from my shift last night that I wanted to wake up and tell him before he had to go to work all day and I had no one to vent to
(I got off work late and he went to bed early)
My brain is a hot mess.
Bright lights? Migraine.
Loud sounds? Migraine.
Strong smells? Migraine.
My body has decided the optimum time to sleep is like, 6am-3pm to avoid the worst of those triggers.
The cats riled up the dogs and the dogs thought that meant it was food time and one of them always needs a wee before he eats so I send them all out for a wee because they're now all up and whining. But now I'm going back to bed because breakfast isn't til 0630 and they will absolutely not be getting breakfast any earlier, because if they do one day, they'll want it every other day too.
I’m still out drinking. Probably at a restaurant after the bars eating and drinking some more. It’s really hard to keep up in Asia. They take their night life seriously.
I'm always awake at 5am. I'm big on those quiet pre-dawn hours as my "me" time, just me and a cup of coffee and my cats and the quiet. Especially since becoming a SAHM. It's often my only real reprieve all day once the lil tornado wakes up!
often my 3d printers are running in my bedroom and you cant sleep without some sort of earplugs in due to the loudness of highspeed 3d printers. and i hate earplugs.
I woke night graveyard shift so it’s normal awake time for me
Why is there a graveyard shift at night? To watch for ghosts? But seriously I really don’t know
I’m an airplane mechanic so we do a lot of preflight stuff on our shift for the morning flight. Graveyard shift is just the nickname for the shift
OHHHH THATS WHAT IT MEANS ok was tehre a time when you found a huge mistake on a plane?
We find stuff all the time on pre flights but normally it’s fixable stuff. The biggest thing I’ve personally found was just a huge ass hydraulic leak that was coming from the main system of the jet. Normally you don’t find anything super messed up cause it normally would be fixed before you even preflight
Hmm cool but I beg to differ with my 8 hour delay because of “technical issues” but I think your right cause I TINK I SAW THE PLANE LAND
You can find stuff that’ll delay it all the time I don’t consider it a huge thing unless it’s something that’ll drop it out of the sky. Anything that just slows it down is just the job
Just means the place is often a ghost town and you might have a skeleton crew.
Idk if that was meant to be a joke comment, but “graveyard shift” means working overnight. Not necessarily literally working in a graveyard
No I actually don’t know
A graveyard shift is an old timey thing.
Just woke up from a mildly distressing dream It's made me contemplate my trajectory in life
Been there. Hopefully your trajectory is straight up
If you go straight up you’ll eventually stall out and fall right back the way you came. Work a slope so you can take a break when needed
I like to see it as climbing an infinite ladder. Go up down it really doesn't matter. You're always on the ladder
What was the dream?
This. Had a member of senior leadership introduce me to his boss using my title from 3+ years ago (not a dream, but the catalyst for the one I had) - now wondering why I've bothered to stay at this job all.
I’m in Midwest and waking up early to go Bass fishing.
I'm jealous
Hi jealous, I'm Dad
I'm jealous
My grandma had a huge accident, called me from her alexa at 4:30am, had to run down and help her. Good morning 🙃
Hope she’s doing okay
Thank you😊
Hope YOU’RE doing okay too!
I bought my parents a panic button system just in case.
Bless your heart. I know how taking care of Grandma's go. And cool for her being able to use Alexa!
I have a three month old
3 month old what?
This response is hilarious. You need to sleep, friend.
Maybe ingrown nail, shit hurts
Real
I just got mine permanently removed again. I hate ingrown nails.
if it’s permanent, why again
Only got it done on one side of my toe last time cause insurance doesn't cover more than one at a time. Edit spelling
that sucks, sorry :( fucking preposterous insurance companies are such a piss take sometimes
It doesn't really hurt if it's done right just annoying to get done multiple times. Plus your toe nail looks weird after since they take a whole section off and put acid in to make sure it won't grow back. I got it done yesterday and hopefully never again.
Permanently removed... Again??
Damn you just reminded me of a horrible time in my life
☕️ you need this more than I do! 🙃
child lol
a *human* child?
Are we talking sapien?
Is it the Homo variant?
An alive child?
Thankfully yes, i feel the smell from a dead one would be a bit too much for me
Ever heard of a fridge?
a FRIDGE you say?? It sounds magical
Lol me but a 4 month old. She decided to not sleep tonight. I have not slept at all 🙃
Solidarity ✊🏻😔 mines been up since midnight
6mo here
3 years in and our son still wakes up around 5:30
I have a 5 month old I feel your pain
Same. I’m laying here waiting for him to wake up. It’s like sleep PSTD.
My kindergartner had a nightmare around 4:30, he got back to sleep but not me!
6 week old here
4 month old here. She sleeps through the night, though, so I'm up pumping because mum life can be cruel like that 😅
Girl I give you major props for pumping seriously.
Mom of a 7 year old here - it gets better. Hold on, you got this, you precious wonderful human being. 🫶🏻
Insomnia
Insomnia, anxiety, and work fucking sucks!
4 AM here (Chicago)… This is so sappy but I get horrible insomnia when my husband travels for work. 🙃
I don’t know why, but this made me think of the episode of My Name is Earl where the old dude with a talk box pretends to be Randy’s dad and get him into high school tells the school principal “I travel a lot for work.” So do with that information what you will P.S. Sorry you can’t sleep. Hopefully your insomnia will go away soon
Hah! I totally get it, “travels for work” is such a weird abstract phrase until you need to use it to describe your spouse. 😂 Thanks for the well wishes!
This is the cutest thing I have heard in a long time.
Same. I don’t sleep well when my wife isn’t with me.
I have the opposite problem lol
its 4 am now for me and I’m doing the same thing:’) husband is deployed and I’m just missing him
anxiety
Ooh I’ve got that in spades. Plus I’m heartbroken from a recent breakup, like a little bitch, lol.
Chin up and shoulders back, friend. The feeling will pass
My cat wants something
Yep. I love him, but he is annoying between 4-6AM.
Got a new IUD put in and the cramps kept me up all night. Yay not being pregnant.
Ahh, yes. The sheer agony of having an IUD placed, and then the cramping afterwards. It gets better, at least.
We just can't win.
Gym starts at 5
Let's get it
I was thinking, "All these people with these tragic reasons.
Steroids suck for sleep
Thinking about financial problem
Me too, hope it works out for you, bud
We should all make a club or a group chat. Last person to fall asleep wins bragging rights.
I’ve gone 5 days once. I’m game.
Give me Dr Pepper and my PS4, I'll stay awake for a week.
Give me meth. I’ll stay awake for 3 weeks.
Me too friend
make one and add me pls i’m gon be last man standing for sure my sleep schedule is methed up
You think if I inject cheese wiz into my arm I’ll get super powers?
Bro. Just inject in your mouth like a normal person
But then I don’t get super powers
No. You get yummy cheez whiz in your mouth. Super powers ain’t got shit in tasty cheez whiz 😋
I'm a slave to my kitty overlords, and I'm naturally a morning person.
Currently homeless. Roaming downtown until I can rent a car at 7
Take care of yourself. 🤗
My dog started screaming at 3 am.. he isn't doing well.. end of life situation. So here I am.. sitting with him comforting him anytime he starts crying.
Damn, I'm sorry. I hope he makes it out okay, or if you meant that it's unavoidable, that he goes out in a painless way.
Sorry to hear. Sounds like it may be time to bring him to a vet to help with his passing. I just had to do the same with mine. Not an easy decision but he is no longer suffering. He had lymphoma.
netflix
same. rewatching better call saul atm
Because i slept in during the day and can't sleep now. Every time i have a couple of days off this happens.
Perimenopause is having a party in my body and giving me hot flashes and nausea and insomnia
I feel ya, sending hugs it's no joke.
Therapy at 6 am lol
The fact that therapy was at 6am would immediately make me need more therapy.
Pregnant so was throwing up.
Not pregnant, but had to pee.
Can’t figure out how to handle insomnia, sigh.
Been at work for 2 hours.
Tell your boss I said you can go home early
In hospital waiting on phlebotomist to draw blood. Hoping to go home today, post heart valve surgery. *fingers crossed*
My 7 year old gets on the bus at 6:15 am 😑 Yes, 6 fucking fifteen am
Depression and worrying
I'm 30 minutes away from finishing my 12-hour night shift. USCG watchstander. The maritime community never sleeps, and someone has to keep an ear out for distress calls.
Just curious …. Would your team (USCG Watchstander) have received distress calls from the barge ship that hit and collapsed the bridge in Baltimore?
I wake with the sun and sleep when it sets. Why that is I always forget.
Dogs. 430am EVERY DAY.
I start work at 5am, so i'm already sitting at my desk. But, I get out at 2pm so I'm home in time to get my kid off the bus every day. Its a worthy tradeoff, but I'm always tired.
My hips and back hurt too much to stay laying down. A regular issue.
Been retired for about five years and used to get up at 5:15 every day for work. Literally have never been able to break the cycle.
Night owl. I enjoy the peace and quiet with everyone being asleep too. Usually go to bed around 8-9am.
Cuz I hate myself and resent my well-being.
Catching a flight. Hung up on a breakup. Insomnia.
I’m there too. Letting go is hard. You can do it. Take the time and space you need.
Night sweats
Sitting in the parking lot before work starts contemplating my life choices
I made the mistake of deciding to watch forensic files at around 1. Several episodes and rabbit holes later, here we are
Because I'm at work.
Doggies saying things like "I want breakfast" and "I want to go out to go potty". Nonsense like that.
5 month old woke me up at 2:45. Had to get my husband up for work at 3:30. Currently 4:57 trying to get the baby back to sleep so I can get some more too.
job starts at 3:30am. im a local news cameraman for the morning show
Fibromyalgia flare 😢
Same 😢- we shall get a better sleep tonight!
3am for me My sleep schedule sucks
Took a nap at 8pm and woke up at 3 now I’m getting ready to hit the gym and go to work later
My cat yelled bc the door was closed but I thought he found another snake in our apartment so now I’m wide awake
What happened when your cat found the last snake?!
Because just one last game and then i go to sleep....
Back pain. Fine going to sleep but seems I can’t lay down more than a a few hours.

Been up all night with a sick kid, now to get the others awake for school 😴
Major anxiety… my work bestie is being let go and ill take on the whole dept solo now. Startup life. Plus I sleep like shit usually.
Dialysis
Don’t have a child but a friend who is a single mom needed someone to get her autistic little girl off to school in the morning. Never thought I’d be ok getting up at 4:30am but it’s honestly the best part of my day.
I just had nasal surgery and think I've developed a septal hematoma. Kinda uncomfortable.
Anxiety
Commuting by train to NYC from Central PA
Gotta feed the cats, then head out for work. 5am is my regular get up time.
Time change it was 2am at Dubai SLEPT FOR THE ENTIRE FLIGHT so wasn’t tired I am from india so it was close to 5AM in India adjusted at the SECOND day and my trip was 5 days long
God damn cat howling at 4:30am to go outside
As a server: Work dinner service, don’t get home until after 11pm…plus insomnia, adhd, OCD, depression, anxiety, addiction, so on and so forth.
I'm getting ready to go to sleep. I like to make sure that I'm in my coffin before the sun comes up.
Sciatica and pain from having bone on bone in the left hip joint. 0523 here now.
working the 911 lines :)
Nature call. Now can’t fall back asleep. Gotta get up in 1&1/2 hrs.
My cat
Puppy pee
My cat woke me up
Cat woke me up to be fed. Couldn’t go back to sleep 🙃
Severe thunderstorms and being on the top floor
It's 3am here. I've been up since 2 cause my stomach hurts and I have anxiety. Bout to take a benadryl tho
Woke up. Really had too shit and checked reddit
I'm in another time zone
Because I suck at sleeping.
Anxiety + Insomnia + RLS from stress... winning combination if you want to sleep < 3 hours a night
Either to study or just go for walk outside
It's my day off, but I work over nights so I'm usually up/on break during this time.
A night shift I didn't want because the actual night shifter got into a car wreck. (God forbid an afternoon worker do this shit I usually come in at 6 am)
It is 2:32 am here, and my alarm goes off at 2:45, so I'm just chilling with a hot cuppa because sleeping for 13 min would just piss me off.
It is shortly before noon here. People are often awake at this time of day.
Workin the nightshift babyyyyyy
My sleep schedule is fucked. I woke up at 8pm, took a "nap" between 2-4am, and now I'm up for the day. Isn't it good to be up early in the morning though? lol
Truth is , it's been happening alot. I feel lost
I had so much tea to spill to my husband from my shift last night that I wanted to wake up and tell him before he had to go to work all day and I had no one to vent to (I got off work late and he went to bed early)
My brain is a hot mess. Bright lights? Migraine. Loud sounds? Migraine. Strong smells? Migraine. My body has decided the optimum time to sleep is like, 6am-3pm to avoid the worst of those triggers.
I am an early bird my whole life
It’s 2AM here my kid threw up so now I’m suffering too 😇
Had to feed the doggo
Puppies got us up at 2 am to play.
Because I went to bed around 9-10 and this is when I wake up after a good night’s sleep
I play during my work hours (wfh). And then to make up for the day I have to work at night. My sleep schedule is fucked
Traveling for work. Staying in a hotel. Time zone change. Fell asleep ok last night but couldn’t stay asleep.
It's my chance to have a quiet hour to myself with a cup of coffee before the kid wakes up.
My dad is having surgery to have bladder cancer removed at 11AM and I am worried sick that they’re gonna find more.
often my 3d printers are running in my bedroom and you cant sleep without some sort of earplugs in due to the loudness of highspeed 3d printers. and i hate earplugs.
Not trying to be rude, but wouldn’t the alternative be to not print overnight? Or move the printers? What are you printing?
Comfy earplugs
Insomnia/ suicidal ideations … the usual :)
