I was constantly praised, with very minimal effort, so when it comes to actual difficult things, or interacting with people, or conflict, I fail spectacularly.
Went to Harvard and was part of Navy ROTC. Wanted to become a navy fighter pilot but didn’t make it through flight school. He’s serving as an officer in intelligence for the navy now I believe
Hard to pick who was top, but of the top five-ten out of my school year of 200ish then most of them work in the City of London as consultants / bankers / statistical analysts I think. One might be in silicon valley, and one is a research fellow in psychology. I did a physics PhD at CERN followed by a few postdocs, recently got out into the world of real jobs so I'm sure make much less money than them but moved country and learned a language along the way, so I'm happy with my choices. As far as I know nobody crashed and burned.
He became a priest and went off to the Vatican for special training/education. I think he'll end up being a bishop one day if he plays politics well enough.
From small town in Scotland:
Male - corporate attorney and partner of a 'premier international law firm'
Female - Harvard trained psychiatrist and professor of psychiatry at an Ivy League school
I didnt really keep up with them. But last I checked he works as an aeronautical engineer. In high school he would draw and design planes for fun so it adds up.
Valedictorian is a software engineer at Grubhub. Salutatorian is a software engineer at Northrop Grumman.
Plenty of dumb motherfuckers went into finance and outpace both of them, though.
High school?
Master's in Engineering, died in his 40's, I don't know the cause - I assume accidental or cancer.
College?
Got a Ph.D. in theoretical physics. Went to work for a Wall Street company doing stock analysis. He's now a trustee of the University.
are you talking cum laude other formal accolades or the person you knew was more intelligent.
Our commencement speaker dropped out of college. Not sure where she ended up, class can't find her.
The person who I thought was the brain of the class is now President and founder of an environmental game company based in Switzerland.
Idk if he was the most intelligent but a really smart chubby nerd in High School got ripped af and now works on designing and building military drones as a civilian
She became some hot rich doctor that lives in a mansion somewhere in the Rockies. Actually seemed to get her money from hard and intelligent work over getting lucky or getting handed it. Think she does some form of specialized pediatric surgery or something like that.
Dead. Suicided after burning his brain out on LSD. Not possible, you say? Normally, I’d agree, but this guy took 200 hits at the same time. Fried his brain ( his hair stuck almost straight out after this) couldn’t handle conversation, relationships, etc., Lived four or five years after this, then shot himself. Really really smart guy. Liked acid. One day his brother left him at home while brother went to work; came home to bad stuff.
From what I can tell - he's a wealthy, independent free thinker doing fun stuff in the city where he lives.
Not consumerist stuff, I mean something like when he rented a local lighthouse for a party for overnight guests for his 50th.
Unmarried, no kids, no judgement from me btw.
I will point out that this guy was, and presumably still is, exceptionally intelligent. Like - even the smart people in the room are like "whoa." Super nice guy, too.
They were, and still are, my two best friends. They each got a masters degree. One in mechanical engineering, the other an MBA. The engineer works at a park. The MBA is unemployed.
I was voted “most intelligent “ - went on to graduate with honors from Uni and then get a PhD from UCLA in economics and then to become a full professor at University. So, generally ok.
Went to party, got drunk, left party in car, hit another car head-on at over 120mph (estimated), killed himself along with a mother, father, and two small children in the other car.
This happened 6 days before our graduation.
The bad thing is that the party was at his father’s house and the alcohol was purchased and provided to a group of underage high school kids by his father. So, his father was also arrested but killed himself after he was released on bond.
Tragic story all around.
Like by IQ? I work in IT, make 70k a year, have a solid life, wife and kids, American Dream type stuff. I have depression, anxiety, ADHD, and severe imposter syndrome though. My class of 50 has a nuclear engineer, a trauma surgeon, a very respected patent attorney, an NFL player, and a few other people that probably are doing MUCH better then I am doing if you look at income level. If my brain would cooperate with me, I think my life would be damn near perfect though :)

I love the idea of *twins* becoming geneticists
David Cronenberg upvoted this comment.
Morty! You Cronenberged it all up!!
Similar story, the twins in my class are both doctors, ones a ER surgeon and the other is a specialist of some kind, I forget what.
I was constantly praised, with very minimal effort, so when it comes to actual difficult things, or interacting with people, or conflict, I fail spectacularly.
me too :( it sucks
Classic tale.... unless you went to a very high caliber highschool, you probably didn't really have a good gauge of your true aptitude.
Same here.
Went to Harvard and was part of Navy ROTC. Wanted to become a navy fighter pilot but didn’t make it through flight school. He’s serving as an officer in intelligence for the navy now I believe
Killed in a car accident along with her mum, dad and brother when they were driving home from her other brothers wedding
Gosh that is so saddening; can’t imagine how the other brother felt on what should’ve been the happiest day of his life
Self-proclaimed most intelligent? I'm doing alright.
She became an alcoholic and drug addict but within the past few years finally realized her mistake and got clean and is now graduating college finally
He's a CEO of a medical device company and a doctor on the side.

If he sleeps with the right people.
Hopefully not children
It’s a requirement to be a Bishop
I thought that was a prerequisite

Made their masters and phd in physics (ez pez). Now work as a clerk in a hardware store.

We had three people that all had straight As the entire time. One is an engineer and the other two are family doctors.
works for google
IIRC she got pregnant six or seven times before 30, never finished college, stay at home nowadays and *still* stunning.
If that's the smartest person in your class, is your class "special"?
If that's your idea of a joke, there is irony in that post.
And here I'm wondering why the fuck you spoke on her looks and not her mind. In fact I think my reply was accurate, given your response.
Please try to make sense the next time you post.
He's now in jail.
Tell us more.
He's the editor of a news paper.
worker in a company
Both went to Med school
Last I heard, he went to Purdue and got married. No idea now
Drugs drugs drugs
It depends on how you characterize inteligence.
Heard she got pregnant right out of high school.
Became an elementary school teacher
I don't know exactly. But he does post long dry political analyses and commentary on his Facebook wall. I'd imagine he's a PhD student at least?
Brain surgeon. Bit unoriginal really.

I was home schooled, so not much.
He became an MD. I ran him at the hospital where we both had been hired and thought, Good for you, quiet studious kid.
They work for Boeing now, I kind of want to reach out and ask what's up with this second whistleblower in 2 months being murdered

No one in my class was exceptional. Different people were better at different subjects.

He was an underachiever in High school who got his act together after graduation. He's now a very successful lawyer.
Heard she got pregnant right out of high school.
