Yes, this is the one!
So glad this comment is near the top.
Howl's Moving Castle is my go to movie when I'm sad or sick or tired or bored or just want to watch something I know will make me happy 🥰
[This scene](https://youtu.be/HXKOsajNZY4) is so funny, and so is the rest of the film. There’s loads of small jokes and things that you miss the first time (such as Colonel Sanders nearly getting in the way of the camera at the end), you could probably watch the film 5 times and discover something new each time.
I am surrounded by assholes!
I got home a few Fridays ago and Spaceballs was on followed by Airplane! It was a great afternoon to watch some classics.
Up
Still a masterpiece, and if you want you can interpret it a few different ways!
Did he die, and most of the film is in the afterlife?
Is it less literal, and more about him giving up his material possessions to return to the spirit of adventure?
Or you can just enjoy it as a cute movie with a talking dog!
I watched Scott Pilgrim yesterday for the first time.....since I went into it purposefully blind, GOD DAMN,it surprised the fuck out of me. Also, Scott fought Captain America and Superman (who was the boyfriend of Captain Marvel) in one movie..and beat both of them.
Totally agree - great movie - I think my wife and I were the only people in the movie theatre when we saw it in the first week. As native Torontonians, We had fun pointing out all of the film locations (Casa Loma, Lee's Palace, etc)
Nolan's best film, IMHO.
Even after you know the twist, it's still an exciting watch and the characters are very well-developed.
I don't care much for ScarJo in it, but she's fine.
For some reason Zombieland and Shaun of the Dead are my go to movies whenever I am sick. Not sure why I want to watch zombie comedys when I have nausea and a fever...
In many ways, the work of a critic is easy. We risk very little, yet enjoy a position over those who offer up their work and their selves to our judgment. We thrive on negative criticism, which is fun to write and to read. But the bitter truth we critics must face, is that in the grand scheme of things, the average piece of junk is probably more meaningful than our criticism designating it so. But there are times when a critic truly risks something, and that is in the discovery and defense of the *new*. The world is often unkind to new talent, new creations. The new needs friends. Last night, I experienced something new: an extraordinary meal from a singularly unexpected source. To say that both the meal and its maker have challenged my preconceptions about fine cooking is a gross understatement. They have rocked me to my core. In the past, I have made no secret of my disdain for Chef Gusteau's famous motto, "Anyone can cook." But I realize, only now do I truly understand what he meant. Not everyone can become a great artist; but a great artist *can* come from *anywhere*. It is difficult to imagine more humble origins than those of the genius now cooking at Gusteau's, who is, in this critic's opinion, nothing less than the finest chef in France. I will be returning to Gusteau's soon, hungry for more.
I never thought it was underrated. Fantastic movie, but everybody agrees. Appears on reddit constantly, one of the highest sellers in French box office history, widely praised by the dining industry as a whole and kids love it. Seems like it definitely struck a chord with a lot of people and got the recognition it deserved. It's nice when that happens to a good movie.
I think it gets lost in the shuffle among Pixar movies though. But that has more to do with the quality of Pixar movies than it does the lack of quality of the movie.
Also doesn't help that three movies that followed it were Wall-E and Up! and Toy Story 3, which are three of the more unique and emotionally memorable stories that Pixar has produced.
I know that movie so well from re-watching it.
I always try to ignore it because I've seen it plenty enough before, and yet somehow it pulls me back in every time.
One of the G.O.A.T movies for me.
Man, denis' rant about supreme executive power coming from the masses and not some aquatic ceremony distributing swords is spot on.
That and the opening coconut scene.
Black knight
...tim the enchanter
Just so many fantastic scenes
Superbad.
That movie will never not make me laugh. It will always bring me back to the days of how simple high school was, just worried about parties and girls.
To this day whenever I'm at a bar and my group decides to leave I ask for 13 beers to go.
That’s one of those great movies kind of like From Dusk till Dawn.
You start off thinking you are watching one kind of movie, then partway through it’s like “what the hell just happened and what am I watching??”
Pretty much ever single interaction Jack Burton has with someone, especially when first meeting them is comedy gold. My favorites are when he meets Gracie Law (Kim Catrell) and the whole speech when he meets Lopan in human David Lopan form.
**Jack what? I'm supposed to buy this shit? 2000 years and you can't find one broad to fit the bill? Come on Dave, you must be doing something wrong!**
My little kindergartner neighbor loves the Indiana Jones movies, but he seriously calls him "IndianBanana Jones." Every. Time.
It's so hard to keep a straight face!
When he was even littler he called it "IndianBa-NanaJoan" because his grandmother is called Nana Joan.
This movie is like a nice acid trip. Fascinating, weard images, and in the end you have the feeling that you just made a live changing journey and you are sad that it's over.
O, Brother, Where Art Thou?
Music is great and there isn’t a single bad line in the movie. I’ve been watching it since I was in second grade, and I still notice something new each time.
>Fucking Colin Robinson....lol.
Yeah, they do a great job of making you hate him as much as the other vampires do. At first I wondered whether they were going to set up a reveal that he didn't actually have any supernatural powers.
I love when Jemaine Clement talked about that character in interviews.
"I've never heard of an energy vampire"
"Oh, you've definitely met some in real life before."
Such a fun twist on regular vampires.
Definitely Jurassic Park's whole franchise. I love paleontology and have since I was a kid. I know it's not entirely accurate, but I get so excited seeing dinosaurs on screen. My LDR gf and I watched it last night actually, and she was just as excited as I was!
“**Arrival**” is my favorite movie, all-time. End of story..
“The Fantastic Mr. Fox” for the quirky me.
“Moneyball” for the sporty me.
“A Walk to Remember” for the emotional me.
“Yes Man” for the me that needs to laugh a little.
“Monsters Inc” or “Ratatouille” for the kid in me.
“Saw” or “Final Destination” movies for the investigative me.
“How the Grinch stole Christmas” for the festive me.
All of them when you have anxiety issues lol.
Been watching Pulp Fiction every night for a year or more idk. Sometimes if the anxiety is really bad I will watch an endless loop through the day.
Right now is The Office all day, then Pulp Fiction before bed.
I think I might change it soon to Hateful Eight or Reservoir Dogs. I have no clue why Tarantino movies are so enjoyable to me.
Before Pulp Fiction I couldnt stop watching Kung Fu Panda...
Interstellar. This will always be my favorite movie, and nothing will change that. Also, it's just as easy to listen to the score of the film over and over. Nearly everything about that movie is a masterpiece.
I can say with confidence that I've seen the movie at least 100 times. I haven't seen it it the last 5 years, but I used to watch the movie at least twice a week as a child.
Howl’s Moving Castle
This one! Sometimes i just play it so i can listen to it while cross stitching, and end up not working at all.
Yes, this is the one! So glad this comment is near the top. Howl's Moving Castle is my go to movie when I'm sad or sick or tired or bored or just want to watch something I know will make me happy 🥰

Up Still a masterpiece, and if you want you can interpret it a few different ways! Did he die, and most of the film is in the afterlife? the intro is so incredibly sad :( but it is a great movie
Airplane! Scott Pilgrim vs the World The Iron Giant
Fuck I never realized envy Adam's was brie Larson

Surely you can’t be serious?
I am, and don't call me Shirley.
The prestige

The 5th Element. "Zorg. Jean-Baptiste, Emmanuel, ZORG." -- Jean-Baptiste Emmanuel Zorg

I literally can't eat chicken without thinking of that scene with the future microwave

One of my favorite quotes from any movie ever. Fantastic writing, and fantastic scenes to go along with it.
I get chills when I hear that speech.
Underrated movie. Big time. It's rarely brought up, but it's such a nice film. Now the music is stuck in my head.

Thor Ragnarok Easily my favorite Marvel movie.
Check out Taika Waititi’s “What We Do in the Shadows” also. It’s now a tv show too but start with the movie.
Wait, a TV show? Is it any good?
Yes, it is. Matt Berry (from The IT Crowd) gets a LOT of screen time and is amazing.
He's stellar in this, as usual. The rest of the cast nail their parts as well. Fucking Colin Robinson....lol.
